Congratulations to this place. It was the fourth or fifth restaurant I went to, the others all closed, presumably because of the fair or something else. And of course, there was the blinding, low-letting sun to deal, the route 9 traffic crawl, parking navigation, and then farther north, the fair entry and exit points. The food was delicious and I will get at least one more meal out of the leftovers. The food price was reasonable for the portions. This restaurant was definitely crowded for dinner on cinco de mayo but still had exceptional service and professionalism. The staff was very busy and hardworking with serving and taking countless orders for small and big parties of people. The setting definitely was of a Mexican culture and had appropriate and comfortable seating. However, the food was not up to my liking. The frozen and on the rock margaritas were good. Definitely made feel calm and relaxed lol. When it came down to the main dish I was not impressed. The fish tacos were subpar. The fish was grilled but not much flavor or seasoning incorporated within the fish. The rice and beans were bland and didn't have any flavor. The chicken quesadillas were decent. Great food. Of all the Mexican places I've been to, there are a lot of similarities between the menu's even though not all are not connected. Good food and decent prices. I generally seem to go when it's really busy but usually don't have to wait long. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. The chips are fresh and some of the best I have had in a long time. The salsa is good, but the refried beans are the MVP as a starter! I went with tacos al pastor. My only complaint of the night is that these were definitely not al pastor. They tasted good; just not what I was expecting. Really good local Mexican spot. Nothing fancy or world changing. Just a really nice place that's very clean and everyone here is very nice. The Coronas were ice cold. The complimentary chips and salsa were nice and fresh. There's also a bean dip served with the chips that I'm not familiar with. It's great. My buddy had a shrimp entree and said it was solid. I have been to this restaurant twice. Both times the service was excellent. They serve very large portions of delicious food. They give you chips and salsa like a typical Mexican restaurant, however, they also give you this dip with beans, ground beef, and cheese. This dip is very tasty. We ordered the guacamole and they made it at our table. The guacamole was delicious and a big portion. During my first visit, we went on a Saturday afternoon. They were offering a lunch menu and I ordered the 3 item combo. This was not a lunch portion. It was so big I had to take some of it home. My boyfriend ordered the fish tacos. I tasted them and they were delicious. The fish was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. During my second visit, I ordered steak fajitas. The steak was very good, it was a very large portion and I took most of it home. My boyfriend ordered the carnitas meal. Like always had to try it and it was very good. This time I ordered a margarita they were running a sale and the margaritas were $5. The margarita was really well made. It was strong and tasty. Again we were too full for dessert. I need to go back a third time I make sure I order dessert. The service here is excellent. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I love this place! The service is amazing From the host to the server to the bartender to the kitchen staff and the bussers. Great atmosphere And my second visit was even better than my first $5 happy hour margaritas with a heavy pour ;) Which is exactly what I want. The salsa could be better but I will still gratefully indulge The chips were broke out fresh and hot, didn't have to ask for refills either. Bean dip is also apart of the free chips and salsa. I don't generally eat Mexican food, but when i saw this place on the DoorDash delivery list a little more than a month ago, I thought I'd give it a shot. Along with their menu of mostly Mexican food (something that i couldn't eat for dietary restrictions), there were a few things that i could eat from a more American list influding a few burgers and a few dessert pieces. The desert was never made and the restaurant called me to inform me that they didnt have it. I knew id didnt want any of their other desserts (dietary restrictions) so i told them to refund me in the final total. But i never liked the way the burger was made. It had this flare with a slight sting and the fries were super dry. Burger tasted very bland: almost like they used thin slices of beef that made the burger dry yet greasy once i started to nibble into it. They used aluminum pans and plastic lids and it was all a mess. I wasn't expecting the "chips" and salsa because they weren't mentioned anywheres on the site and things just seemed awkward to me. While I may suggest this place for Mexican food only, if tempted to eat from their American food, think about eating elsewhere, because it just wasn't right to me. read more

This food was not good quality..at all. It is way overpriced even though they offer Bard students a 15% discount and that still isn't much. The drinks are pretty good if you're 21 and the staff is nice, but so not worth the money if you're just there to eat. My advice would be to try Tellos around the corner. We've been living in the Hudson Valley for 20 plus years and have found the Mexican food up here fair at best but have higher prices than what we use to pay when we lived down in Queens!? We have passed this restaurant a couple dozen times but the name Cancun seemed a little "gringo" to give them a day in court, said the Irish American. Today we had been hiking over at Montgomery Mansion over looking the Hudson and it began to chuck it down with rain which we were kind of expecting....My wife heard good things about Cancun and decided to check it out for lunch and was surprising delighted. The staff was so attentive, right from putting my foot in the door; in these times of virus/pandemic there was an issue of having to view the menu on line vs. a hard menu, but we were having trouble getting a signal so they wiped off and sanitized a menu and a menu with lunch specials. The chips arrived homemade, fresh, hot with salsa, bean dip and gratis, from that point on they were re-stocked! My wife had pollo enchiladas and she asked if they could separate and do two sauces verde y mole they were more than happy to accommodate. I had the Oceano a burrito stuffed with shrimp, crab, white fish, fresh mushrooms... Both huge plates served up wayyyyyyy hot with and enormous sides of rice and beans. The meals were perfect, fresh, authentic and the best we have had in a long time. Again back to the aforementioned post/during virus the tables were properly spaced our waitress wore a mask and rubber gloves so if you have concerns, no worries here. So much grease and slop! No flavor and soggy. Ordered the fried ice cream which should've been warm outside, cool middle. That came out within seconds and was literally hard a rock. There are 3 things that make a restaurant awesome: staff, environment and food. Cancun's does a great job on all 3. The restaurant is cheerfully decorated without being garish. The music is low enough that you can converse with your dinner companion and the place is very clean. The staff at Cancun's is friendly and attentive and you feel like everyone who works here wants you to have a great dining experience. Then there's the food. A ton of choices and all are good. Surprisingly, they also have some of the best fries I've had in a long time. Coffee was hot, fresh and delicious. I can't comment on the dessert menu, the food was so good that I didn't have room for dessert. I'll have to plan more carefully next time! read more
