I was unusually free for lunch today and thought I'd check out a place I hadn't been before. As the result of quick spurt of research on the way home, I discovered this place. You can't see it from the main road and the outside may look a little unassuming, but don't let that fool you. This is a hidden gem in Orange Park. Surprisingly, there don't seem to be very many places for good authentic Mexican tacos. This is probably as close as you can get. It doesn't hurt that it's a grocery too! Prices here for the made-to-order side won't hurt the wallet, and you can find some rather unique and quality stuff otherwise. Service was extremely friendly and happy to help in either English or Spanish. In terms of flavor, the al pastor was top notch. It comes with lime wedges and your choice of either mild or spicy salsa. While there isn't anywhere indoors to sit and eat, there's several tables outside to take advantage of the beautiful spring weather. Give this place a try! read more

I have been coming to this authentic Mexican grocery store since 2020 & I never get tired of it. Every time I'm in the Orange Park area I get excited to stop by this place. Spanish is mostly spoken while inside - a good sign! You can order inside or call ahead which I recommend because they are usually busy around lunch time. They sell so much more than just hot food so I always suggest to take a look around once inside! Miss Jackie is the sweetest lady and helped me carry my food to my car because I got so much! I've been coming to La Sabrosa for years. Whenever I'm in the area, I find a reason to stop. Great tacos & tamales - well worth giving them a try if you're near the "city of Orange Park" (some people call it the real Orange Park) near the town hall. They have a small tienda with Hispanic brands that you won't always find elsewhere. I stock up on dried chiles when I'm there. The store is very clean, service is friendly & prompt - although you may have to wait a bit since they cook to order. This place is a gem in Orange Park! They're more of a grocery store, but they sell tacos and plenty of other things too. It's a bit small and there's no seating but there is a small area to sit outside. Me and my girlfriend have been favoring this spot for our go to tacos. I'm biased for Barbacoa tacos and they make a pretty good Barbacoa. I've tried the al pastor, asada, chicken, and carnitas. They definitely are a must try in the Orange Park area. The woman that runs the store is a sweet old lady and and you can also call in for an order and they she will give you an estimate of when your food will be ready. The tacos I ordered were pollo and al pastor and came with red and green salsa. Each bite of the tacos with the kick from the salsas was divine and filled with absolute perfection! I have to admit, La Sabrosa was a place that I have passed by over and over. I had no idea they serve food. And now looking back, I think of how foolish I am for not even checking in to begin with. This is a prime example of not judging the book by its cover. La Sabrosa is a GroceryRant (part Grocery, part Restaurant), serving mainly Hispanic-Latino and Mexican food. And so looking at their menu, I decided to get their 3 tacos deal for $9, opting to get 2 Pupusas and 1 Steak Taco. It took awhile to get my food, because it was made to order. But it was well worth the wait. Folks, the food here is legit; authentic. What may seem small on the outside is big in the inside, big as in Big Taste. La Sabrosa is the kind of place you would drive by without a second thought, which is a shame. For within those humble walls is a kitchen that kicks out some serious food. I stopped in and ended up selecting three tacos and a papusa. The tacos were carne asada, chorizo, and carnitas and came with a spicy salsa (or you could get mild) and for the papusa, I had chicharron. The food was divine. Nothing fancy, but the kind of food that leaves you dreaming of back alley adventures south of the border. I am fortunate that I have sampled some great cuisine in my time. Work takes me to a multitude of cities and I have sought and found the best (as well as the worse) food. I have eaten at many high end places, but the places that frequent my thoughts are often humble spots like this. It is places like here that cooking is seen as an art that was handed down as a heritage and legacy from parent to child and not as a craft taught in a culinary school by instructors who give fancy terms to simple culinary steps. It is food like this that speaks of the family that created it, of the generations who learned as a child to pass down to their children. It is a history of that family. Fresh made tortillas, perfectly seasoned steak, cheese papusas ( fried dough almost like a thick tortilla with melted mexican cheese) and topped with the coleslaw mix. Heavenly!! BEST TACO SPOT on this side of the Mississippi!!! I've lived in Jax for over a year and La Sabrosa has been on my radar for a little more than half of that time. I tried their food for the first time last week, and came back a few days later for more!! My first order consisted of their 3 taco special for $9 - two asada (or steak street tacos to you common folk), and one al pastor; served with PLENTY of lime, cilantro and onion, the way I like it. Their spicy sauce (red salsa) was very flavorful and packed just the right amount of heat. CHEF KISS!!! The second visit I called my order in ahead of time which meant I didn't have to wait but a couple minutes once I got there. I ordered more asada and decided to try the barbacoa. It was different for me, very... lean. Leaner than what I'm used to in Texas, like they used a different cut of meat and the seasonings were not as strong. It was still good, but not exactly* what I expected. My boyfriend and I got 3 orders to share, and I wanted to squeeze one Al Pastor taco into the order but wasn't able to. Apparently there is a rule that you can only choose two different proteins per order, which I didn't know. For my next visit, I will try the lengua (tongue +$1) and carnitas. Asada and Al Pastor were great! My boyfriend tried the chicken, which he said was just "good." A few tables to eat al fresco, but no table service. Make the drive to Orange Park from wherever you are in Jax, call your order in advance (it takes about 20 minutes) for the BEST tacos in Jacksonville - I promise you will NOT regret it. read more

Unfortunately I ate all my food before I remembered to take a picture! This place is a mini market that sells Mexican products direct from Mexico. It's still under development and the owner happily explained to me that he will be opening up a meat market. The restaurant part has a pretty good selection of different Mexican plates, tacos being one of them. I had: tacos de Asada, al pastor, lengua, tripas They were all delicious and larger than street taco size. The tortillas were a little crispy which I loved! And the meats super flavorful! The tripas and al pastor were my favorite !! The texture of the tripas was so perfect, I was completely surprised by how yummy they were! My husband's exact words were... This is a darn good burrito! In my opinion it was good except the salsa they served with it was not spicy at all, no salsa in the burrito either. Next time I will ask for another salsa. We also ordered bean and cheese pupusas for our kids and they loved them! Again the salsa they gave us was not spicy at all but the papusas were delicious. A fellow Yelper told me about this place a while back. I finally came to check it out today and I am glad I did. My son and I came in and placed an order to go. Enchiladas ($8.99) Carne Asada Torta ($9.99) and a Cheese Papusa ($3) Food is made to order, so it takes a little while. That's okay with me. I grabbed a bottle of Coca Cola and a Pistachio ice pop too. A few other people came in behind us while we waited in the corner. I also overheard another girl taking an order over the phone. I split the Papusa with my son and we both enjoyed that. They packed a small container of the cabbage slaw to go with it. She also packed a container of red "hot" sauce but it was very mild to me. That's okay, my torta didn't need anything. It was perfect. Very toasty outside. A thin layer of Carne Asada that evenly covered the entire sandwich. A nice serving of cheese, jalapenos and fresh avocado. Wrapped in paper and foil, I didn't spill a single drop which is a major victory for me. $10 seemed a little higher than what I have had in the past, but worth it. It was all I had for the entire day but I am happy. Great flavor and filling. My son was very happy with his enchiladas. He didn't finish it all in one sitting though. He said he was full and still had a quarter leftover. (He's a teenaged boy, I didn't think they ever hit full.) I heated the Papusa up for 20 seconds and it was piping hot and delicious. My son did not, but said it was still yummy. I will certainly come back. Maybe call ahead because I am not a fan of eating outdoors when it is summertime. Small grocery and restaurant with the best Mexican food in Orange Park! This is really a local place and a little hard to find. The grocery store is in front and they serve authentic Mexican food in the back of the store. There is limited seating available outside. Food is made to order so it may take a couple of minutes, but it's well worth the wait. The tacos and burritos are the best I've had since I lived in San Diego. This is a hidden gem that is not far from the Industrial Loop in Orange Park. I found this place a few years ago and told my co-workers about this amazing little spot with fresh cheap tacos and chicharrones aka fried pork skins #deliciousness. My favorite tacos are the Tacos Al Pastor which comes with onions, fresh cilantro, 3 corn tortilla tacos, and the Pastor sauce. Just thinking about it makes me want to call up and place an order. My other top tacos are the carnitas, barbacoa, lengua, and pollo. Ask for the spicy sauce if you want an extra kick. read more
