My requested "salad" option where the items were tasty but over priced to quantity wasn't worth it. Needed more salad to it.

Our book club members picks a different restaurant to try each month so Avila was selected. The menu needed pictures for those of us not versed on these different food choices. It was suggested to look on line to the website for pictures-maybe they'll add pics to menu? Another suggestion-add some type of salad with the meat and toppings you are using. I asked for a salad with grilled chix, black beans, avocado, cheese, salsa (which was in a bowl option with a fry bread?) added and little lettuce and it was $15, my opinion that was too expensive; I suspect bec they weren't use to salads being asked for. Most things had a fried something, which I did not want. The food was very tasty. The group loved all the desserts offered, big and sweet!

I made my second trip to Avila. This time too try their main menu. This Venezuelan Bakery & Cafe has quickly become one of my local favorites. I plan to dine here frequently. From the food to the service, this place truly excels in every aspect. The menu is filled with tempting items to try. We ordered the Curicao Arepa, which is a cornmeal cake stuffed with pulled pork, fried cheese, and salsa de ajo. This was my favorite dish because the pulled pork was incredibly flavorful. Next, we had the Cachapas, a savory-sweet corn pancake filled with cheese. Finally, we tried the Shredded Chicken Empanada. All the dishes were delicious, but the arepa was my favorite. I had never tried a cachapa before, but it was delicious as well. The Empanada was well-seasoned. The outside was nice & crispy. This place is a must-try.

    Next time!

They were good, my last visits but they are approving things which now make them amazing to me. The bakery goods have stepped up to eloquent. These goods are any event presentation worthy. I cant get past the fresh pumpkin roll to try anything else...yet ...My order is always a bag of those delicious empandas to go with my roll and I am blessed.

We ordered a vanilla tea latte with two sweet bread and a Nutella knot. Very good. Fresh and delish.

Delicious, homemade taste. Tons of chicken salad in the arepas. Don't sleep on this place. We will be back.

My mother in law really wanted to come here for her bday lunch. Heard a lot of great things about it. Walking in, definitely decorated well & nice. Lots of seating and room. Love the bakery case display in the front. My family loved looking at all the options. Everyone was just okay with the food. We all agreed the flavoring/seasoning wasn't the strongest & the shell flavor was very sweet. (Empanadas) Dessert, both cakes had a wet texture like tres leche and I'm not sure if that was explained while buying/asking what it was. I got the Nutella stuffed donut and I really enjoyed that! Customer service was great though! Very sweet staff. Will try again. Want to try a latte next time!

Stopped by to get a to-go order of empanadas. The aroma coming from the kitchen was very enticing, and makes me want to come back to try more of their menu. The young lady at the counter was very patient and helpful with all of the customers. You order at the counter, so she had her hands full! And there are cases of delightful looking pastries and desserts to look at while you wait. I went with the Pabellon empanada & the Salchicha empanada. I also chose a chocolate/nutella brownie. I was a little concerned about the empanadas when I got home as they felt quite greasy coming out of their foil wrappers, but there was not a heavy greasy taste. The Salchicha was amazing. Filled with sausage and was delicious. I had the Pabellon at another time, and although good, with black beans & cheese, it was not one I would order again. The brownie was a disappointment. It was so very dry. I took two bites and tossed it. The frosting was dry and not creamy, and the "cake" part itself was so dry it was not pleasant. I will be back to try other things for sure. It was fairly busy for a late afternoon, so hoping it gets to stick around for a while!

We stopped by this place on a whim as we were driving home one day. Such a bright, clean, and welcoming atmosphere. Plenty of open space (it's where El Azul Agave used to be) and customer service was outstanding. The girl behind the counter was super sweet and friendly. She answered all of our questions and made sure we left happy. We picked up the following things to go (keep in mind food times are made to order so there may be a wait, but it's so worth it): We had some empanadas, café con leche (coffee with milk), and some desserts. Chicken empanada - 9/10 - no complaints here! The flavors are super good and the empanada crust was super flakey and fried to perfection! After one bite, I could not put it down. Salchicha empanada - 9.8/10 not sure if I'm correct on the filling, but my husband got it and he said it had some sausage, onion, tomatoes, peppers, and cheese inside. Regardless, it was absolutely delightful and every bite was a joy! I loved the sharp flavor of the cheese with the savory sausage. I believe it was their special empanada. Got some turnovers as well and they were both divine. They were the cold ones not the hot ones. They sell both kinds here and for the hot turnovers, they have apple and peach? flavors and the for the cold turnovers, they have Nutella, dulce de leche, and strawberry! They have numerous desserts to choose from like flan, puddings, donuts, cakes, tres leches, etc. They also have other menu items as well and we plan on trying more of their food options next time! Nutella turnover - 9/10- oh my goodness was this so soft, flakey, and filled to the brim with Nutella inside! It's topped off with fresh whipped cream and my husband and I were fighting for the last piece! It's not too sweet as well and it's definitely a dessert you can enjoy without being burnt out. Strawberry turnover - 7.5/10 - I didn't like this one as much. Still good and I loved how much cream they put. Reminded me of strawberries and cream to be honest! But the strawberry drizzle on top was a bit too artificial tasting for me. Nonetheless, it was still really delicious. Café con leche - 9/10 - probably the best café con leche I've ever had so far. I got it iced and the sweetness level, amount of milk and coffee ratio was perfect (for my liking). I got it with sugar free vanilla syrup and it was delicious!!! Overall, definitely a spot you don't want to pass on. The prices were super reasonable and affordable too! The turnovers themselves were massive and were only $2.50 each!!! Customer service is outstanding and it's such a cute café to work, study, go on a date, or treat yourself out.

*please for give me if I don't remember all the correct names but Gabi or anyone at the register will help you and very friendly* My kids, mom and I had just left from a fingerprint appointment for me at UPS down blanding close to college road and I saw bakery and had to pull over because I started to have a taste for a sweet treat but I was surprised when I walked in and saw how cute it was. Loved that we came at the right time where it wasn't crowded so we could take our time to look at the display of deliciousness and look at the menu. Gabi was out cashier and she was so sweet and patient and recommended so many delicious things. First order was lol Pumpkin cake Cheesecake Ham and cheese Beef empanada Apple latte Second order Ham bacon cheese Beef empanada Drinks Third order Sample Everything and I mean everything we had was so fresh delicious and you taste the homemade in every bit. If it's not in the display case we did have to wait for it to be freshly made but it was quick and worth the wait. Gabi and her sister(I think) was so friendly and answered every question we had about something. I love that this business is family owned and they all work together. The food, experience and everything is a 100/10 for me and my family. Especially if my kids like everything they ate and drank and asked to come back, it is a win win for me.

Food is made from scratch fresh to order and is family owned. Absolutely loved everything we had my favorite dish was the LLANERA. They also have amazing desserts. The service was quick and friendly and ambiance was fresh and clean.

Avila is decorated very cute and kept very clean. Staff is really helpful and will explain the various pastries and street foods. The regular looking donut had caramel in it and was by far the best pastry we tried. Loved the various beef foods. That was my favorite. All the finger food was tasty and fresh. Food was sooooo good. The prices are so good. You'll get plenty under $30. Loved our experience and would love to try additional items.

I've lived in this area for three years and never knew this place existed. So glad we tried it! The food is delicious and service was perfection! We ordered empanadas, pastelitos and dessert (the dessert was to go). The young man who took our order offered to keep the dessert in the cooler and told us to let him know when we were ready for it. He noticed when we were finished eating and brought the to go dessert to our table without us having to ask. It's the simple things like that you don't see often in the service industry anymore, so it was very much appreciated. :)

Exceeded our expectations! When local Venezuelans recommend it and approve then it's a win! So delicious loved everything we ordered! Cheese was oozing out! Don't remember all the items we ordered but it was perfect and highly recommend it!

The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. Overall, wonderful experience at the restaurant of the food, service and great interior feeling creating a great ambiance. Definitely will visit again and try out more menu items.

I've been to Salento twice now, so I feel like I got a good sense of what they have to offer…read more I started with the carne empanadas, which came with complimentary chimichurri and hot sauce. They were crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, and filled with flavorful meat. The sauces paired perfectly with them and made an already great appetizer even better. For my entrée, I ordered the Bandeja Paisa, and it did not disappoint. The meats were the star of the plate. Everything was juicy, cooked perfectly, and seasoned just enough without being overpowering. The steak was surprisingly tender despite being well done, with just the right amount of fat. The sausage had a great snap, the egg was perfectly jammy, and the chicharrón was absolutely incredible--crispy, crunchy, and easily one of the best I've had. I didn't try the sweet plantains since I'm not a fan and they couldn't be substituted. The arepa was good, although nothing particularly memorable. The only parts of the meal I wasn't impressed with were the rice, which was a bit too salty for my taste, and the beans, which lacked flavor and were underwhelming. For dessert, I tried both the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. The tiramisu was just okay--it wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out, and I wouldn't order it again. The chocolate cake, however, was outstanding. It was incredibly moist, rich without being overly sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, Salento does an amazing job with their meats, and that's what I'd recommend most. While a couple of the sides and one dessert didn't quite hit the mark for me, the empanadas, Bandeja Paisa, chicharrón, and chocolate cake were all excellent. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. The environment is pretty nice and quiet.
