I've given this place multiple chances and I'm over it. Do not go here. I was meeting up with a friend for a 5pm class but on my way I got a flat tire. I called Sac Dance Lab and asked if I could move to a different class because I have a flat tire. They said that they only allow changes 6 hours in advance. I asked how am I supposed to know that I would have a flat tire and be stranded on my way to the class?? But they said there is no exceptions. It's not that I wanted a refund, I just wanted to move to a later class. The time before that I took a beg/int Jazz Funk class. The instructor was shaming the class for not being able to keep up with the speed of the movements because we signed up for a beg/Int class and not just a beginner class. This type of attitude is very discouraging for those who are new. We were all struggling. Maybe that's a sign that the instructor is not doing their job correctly. I do not recommend this place. Money hungry and shameful.

My daughter was interested in participating in dance and I looked for a dance studio in the area. When starting with Sac Dance Lab it was such an easy process, we bought her classes online and was checked in on the day of practice. The receptionists are all very friendly and ready to help. Her teacher Ms. Lauren is the best with the kids and really had them ready with only practicing for 1 hour in 1 day ! Super proud of all the kids and will be hoping to become part of the Starburst family next January.

How do you even know this is what to look for if this is your first class after signing up online?

Do you have any dance choreographers that are available to help with coming up with choreography for a music video?

How friendly are the classes towards those who have only ever danced aerially and are looking to gain confidence dancing without an aerial object/on the ground? :) ps would also consider myself a beginner bc it's been so long since I danced in studio

The classes are very friendly. Any beginning dance class is awesome. Where you thinking of cross Training?

How old do u have to be to be involed and what r the times?

I've wanted to come to a class for awhile, but I am not a professional in any means. Will it be a safe place for me to come and learn?

Absolutely!! The environment here is awesome and very judge-free. The best classes to take currently would probably be Saturday beginner hip hop at 10am, Monday beginner ballet at 6pm, Tuesday All Levels lyrical Jazz at 6pm! But keep an eye on the…

My Ate Rachelle invited me to try out Step 1 Dance & Fitness' Wednesday 7pm beginner adult hip-hop…read moreclass with coach Joe H. Personally, I'm more of a Zumba gal so this style of dance was really out of my comfort zone and I didn't know what to expect. First time in, and the drop-in price for the class was $15. While waiting for the previous [full] class to finish in that room (Zumba), restrooms were all the way down the hall and they also have an Elkay water bottle filler. There were at least two or three more rooms in use for youth/teen classes, and folding chairs along the hallway for parents/spectators too. There were less than ten people total in the class by my estimate, and it is once a week recurring. It sounded like the past two weeks they were working on choreography moves, but this evening Joe wanted to focus on a basic skill tutorial/demo -- the Wave! The arm wave is one of the coolest foundational illusions in popping, where you make your arm look like a ripple of water. After a warmup meditative movement set, he really broke it down step by step, practicing each position, first a cappella then with music, slow first then sped up, then added variations/flair. Isolating each joint is the key: fingers/hands up, then pop wrist, elbow up, pop shoulder up, chest, then once at opposite shoulder, reverse the path down the other arm! He also showed us a trace wave transition into a body wave, popping the left knee, then right knee, hip, chest, head, then trace back to the arm/hand. You could even do the arm wave at shoulder level, down at your waist, with both arms parallel, or point at each pop of the body wave. He also showed us the difference between waving out versus waving in. One water break pause during the hour, but otherwise it was fun to learn and follow along. The class after us was Beg/Int Contemporary Fusion 8pm, then Heels at 8:30pm. For adults they also have Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Line Dance, Fierce Funk, Soca Dance Fitness, Stretch Fusion and Sculpt & Define. https://step1danceandfitness.com/pdfs/Adult-schedule.pdf

Location: Their new studio is in between Quickly's and Oscars. There is parking right in front of the studio, as well as street parking all around the sides. I found parking pretty easy! Try to come early if you can to find the place, in case you get lost. Service: Jenna is amazing! They offer a ton of services, including Youth and Adult Services. The classes are affordable, and you get a lot for your buck! They offer a "Cardio Fit" & "Choreo Fit" which is similar to Zumba workouts, but include some choreography! There are also some jazz technique/jazz funk classes offered to the youth. Quality: I got my butt kicked here and definitely broke a sweat! The group here is extremely nice and welcoming here too since I was newer to the classes. I came by for about 30 minutes and took a class and got my workout in! If you're looking to have fun while working out, this is the place to be. Overall, I would come again! They offer classes every day except Saturday's. I really love the environment and the quality of my workout here.
