You can get museum passes for locations on LI and NYC. ALL FOR FREE. (provided you register for a card in your local area). Even for a fee there's events your parents can attend, kid events. A park nearby, and a pristine building with free wifi, AC and a wonderful staff. Support your local library y'all!

Or maybe it was it just didn't have a sign? Anyway it's fabulous now. This branch of the Smithtown library has a large kids area and tons of computers for you to use in the center of the library. Everyone that works here has always been super helpful and friendly. They have a lot of activities for the children and I've seen tutoring signs for the teens. I've even donated blood during a blood drive hosted by the library. It's a great place to get some work done if you get too easily distracted in your home (me).

I was surprised to learn that the cafe hosts open mic nights! There are also a few private study rooms to reserve, but unfortunately they're only available to people who live in bayport bluepoint specifically. I wouldn't mind this, except when I was told this, all the rooms were open. It would be nice to allow others to use the rooms if they're available, and just prioritize bayport blue point residents, which is what my home library does. Tons of resources: plant seed swap, art crafts, and other offerings to be borrowed. Great community hub

The staff are generally friendly, maybe I just caught this person on a bad day.

For YEARS I try to register for adult classes days after the "start up sign up date" and hear…read more"sorry they're all full". For YEARS I try to get the Verizon hot spot for certain dates (ie when I need it like when I'm going on vacation) and they still can't figure out a system to allow a way to reserve any of the "library of things" (including the hotspot) for certain dates.... so I'm told to put a hold on it, then release the hold, and keep doing this machination until the time I need it and perhaps --by luck --my "turn" MAY come up possibly to coordinate with my next hold and my vacation dates. Seriously??!??. Meanwhile -- doing this is totally not fair to the others that may need it while I'm putting false holds on items in the "library of things". It's amazing all the tax dollars collected for the library on my tax bill... yet it seems the services go to the select few who have an "in" or can work the system. Those who call ON the day classes are "open" at 9:01am, or those who have no other obligations and can literally press buttons all day on their devices in hopes of reserving games, hot spots, classes, etc on dates they immediately become available. You'd think by now the library would've found a better way to serve ALL of its patrons...not the select few. And done get me started on the museum pass tickets -- I gave up trying a long time ago. Again....some fellow patrons must know how to work the system or have an "in" as I certainly don't and yet they're all taken for weekends and school holidays etc. You'd think the library would've gotten more of these knowing they constantly run out. If you're a true library user, be aware if this before you decide to live in this library area. They love to collect taxes, and do so amazingly...I'll give them that...but fall insanely short on services compared to other area libraries my friends tell me of. Such a shame.

Registration is preferred, but not required. You can still walk right in. There will be plenty of staff available to answer questions. You're greeted with a welcoming, friendly atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Light refreshments will be available. Best access is from Nichols Road.. Enter the campus there and follow signs for Open House check-in. This entrance will bring you closest to the event area. It's the perfect chance to take a guided tour of the campus, meet staff, and see what Suffolk County Community life is really like. Days like this give you a much better feel than just looking online. Definitely worth checking it out if it's been on your list.

In the age of Amazon, I can't really say I spend much time in bookstores anymore, which is a bit of…read morea shame really. There is something really cool about meandering around and discovering new books through their colorful, interesting covers. Some just call out "read me"... While B&N is nowhere near as cool as The Strand, and never quite as cozy as once was Borders (rest in peace), it certainly is organized well, clean, bright and inviting. There weren't a lot of other customers around when we were there this evening, so it was pretty quiet and relaxed. My husband and I enjoyed strolling the store, checking out the books we randomly came across. We also enjoyed the cafe where we sat and had coffee and split a dessert. It was a nice place to spend a chilly evening after dinner for a bit. We reminisced about how we used to take our daughter to the bookstore all the time when she was small... remember those days? If you need to go to a local bookstore and pick up something to read, you really don't have much choice anymore... so it's good to know Barnes and Nobles is well kept and pleasant.

I purchased a book online for $29 plus tax and shipping and while waiting for it to come a friend…read moregave me the same book! When I received it, I returned it immediately , still in the sealed shipping box i received it in so that it showed i had not even opened the book and had all info on my phone for return and they would only give me store credit! I am a thrift store book shopper, only ordered this book because it is a new release. I will NEVER order or step into another Barnes and Noble again! This is such BS! I will list for $4 bucks less and save someone else some money so they wont shop there for it either!
