My friend and I traveled to Arizona for hiking, tacos, and sunshine, escaping the tireless Philly winter. What one doesn't think of, perhaps naively so, is that there is amazing sushi to be found in the desert. Sachiko was so delicious we went two nights in a row and here I sit back in Philly wishing I could go again! Just saw a couple of reviews by other unsatisfied customers and it reminded me of my experience at Sachiko last year. It is true as one reviewer said. When it's a good night, the food is great and when it's a bad night, the food is awful. That's bad enough to deal with but then the angry owner arguing with you is the worst. For me, they knew I had visited many, many times before and never complained. The food was good. Service was acceptable. When the time came and I did receive a bad order, that is when all hell broke loose. It was regarding the preparation of a salmon dish according to the menu. They got the order wrong and omitted a side of potato salad. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress, immediately the owner comes to the table and starts arguing with me. She tells me that even though they got it wrong, it's still good food and the potato salad doesn't go well with it anyway. So I told her if the salmon was prepared correctly as I ordered it and according to the menu, the potato salad would be perfect. Long story short, it was a sad public scene. Not an enjoyable meal. She adjusted the bill slightly but I still did not get what I ordered and should not have to pay for the error. I haven't been back since. This is the first time I have been to this location as opposed to the one near the airport. Then again I live closer to this one now. The interior/décor is quite similar to the other one and just as enjoyable to dine in. Some may be opposed to their sushi choices plastered as paper signs all around but im not against it, as it's more fun to see all their revolving choices in that manner versus a much larger/heavier menu with probably less illustration. Sachiko always has had the superior quality and flavor sushi. Every time I come to one I always get fresh oysters because they are the largest and sweetest ones I have found in Tucson. Went here with friends to celebrate a birthday. It is located in the shopping strip mall where Trader Joe's is located. It was pretty crowded-they seem to do a really good business. The menu is extensive plus there are many "specials" posted all over on the walls. They have sushi, tempura, katzu, teriyaki, sashimi and more. Two of us asked if we could have the mahi mahi grilled instead of the tempura and were told we could but when it arrived, it was tempura. I ordered an appetizer that I never received. The mahi mahi was ok but not what I hoped. I did, however, really enjoy the tempura vegetables that came with it. Service was good other than the missing appetizer and servers were pleasant. I used to come here a lot in the '00s. I came back to celebrate a friend's birthday. The waitress asked me how many people were coming and gave us our choice of tables. The waitress took our drink order and my friends started making their way to the restaurant. The wait staff was friendly. My friends and I all ordered sushi. It was good. My go to spot for take out sushi. The have a large selection of food to order on the menu and there are specials posted all over the restaurant. My favorites include sashimi, rainbow roll, and the dragon roll. They charge for miso soup if you take out, but it's free if you dine in. The food is okay. Not the best sushi in Tucson, but also not the worst. What really makes this place a one-star however is the staff and service. The staff is rude and the service patchy and disorganized. They'll come take your order, then take it again, then again because there is no communication. Eventually the food comes out and no one comes around after that. Did you want soy sauce? You'll have to find it yourself, from another table if you're lucky. Of course things only change when it comes to getting the check. They'll drop it off long before you're done eating, and then start trying to hurry you along to pay so they can get your money, and then your tip. You might as well be a wallet as far as you're treated. The owner is the worst offender of all. Once you pay, she'll start trying to rush you out, even if you still have food left. There is no service and no consideration to the customer. They don't follow their own hours either, so good luck if you want to eat there in the last hour because it might already be closed. You might think that this is one of those Asian eateries where the service is not great but the food is awesome and at least you can tell that the staff is trying their best? Yeah not here. I've eaten at a lot of Asian places. This is the most unfriendly experience I've ever had. Never going back. read more

Our favorite sushi restaurant was closed yesterday (Sunday) so we decided to try out this place based on yelp reviews. The ambiance was nice, they have a sushi bar and tables, enough for couple and groups. Somehow, we didn't ordered sushi but tried their ramen noodles and combo dinner dishes. The curry ramen tasted like Indian curry but light broth. And the chicken teriyaki combo was pretty good, beautiful presentation. This combo included fried veggies, California rolls, and potatoes coleslaw. The rice on the California rolls was very mushy like pudding and that was why I gave a 3 stars. Also, because we ordered 1 bottle of Sapporo, we didn't get any water at all. We finally asked for a glass of water at the very end. The service was good, it was a bit slow and they don't check up on you as often, probably to give you time to enjoy your food. When we were in Japan, they gave us everything we need and don't check on us, so I'm thinking it's a culture thing? Overall, they have the best miso soup and seaweed salad I've tested so far. My dad wanted sushi for his birthday, but he wanted me to pick the place. I was scared of disappointing him on his bday because of (UGH) last year. I chose here because my friend and I ate here in the beginning of summer. MY DAD WAS SATISFIED AND REALLY LIKED THE TUNA NIGIRI AND WHAT HE GOT! (One of the boat things with teriyaki and tempura). If you are looking to order take out it takes longer than they tell you over the phone. I was told it would 20 minutes and it over 30 minutes to be ready. When I arrived for pick up the lady at the desk was very rude after she told me to move somewhere else to stand. If I could rate 0 stars I WOULD. A family member had ordered food from here and had her TODDLER with her and fast forward her food ended up being over cooked and sushi tasted like batter. She had called and got hung up on by the lady multiple times. Told her she should of TRIED HER TAKEOUT ORDER BEFORE LEAVING!!! because now that she left there's nothing she can do, $30 worth of food that was DISGUSTING and was told she can't have a refund and they expect her to load her child up and bring it back. I then called and explain our frustration and lady was YELLING at me and hung up on me. VERY unprofessional and extremely rude, she did not even give me the chance to talk!!! This place probably has the best variety of sushi rolls and Japanese food/meals. The baked scallop roll and the lobster roll are to die for...and they also have ramen!! Besides the fact that it can be super packed and busy here, and sometimes the service isn't always the best, but Sachiko definitely makes up for it with the quality and taste of the food. read more

Just moved to the area from Los Angeles and I heard a lot about trying sushi in Tucson... boy were they not wrong. We had three types of rolls, donkatsu, one of their japanese ramen. First of all, the ramen noodles were the instant noodles. Then donkatsu did not seem fried at all, the texture seemed as if they heated (but not deep fried) frozen donkatsu. Been waiting for 30 minutes still waiting for our sushi, and our server didn't even check on our order. After 45 minutes, the hostess asked us if we need anything, and i told her we still haven't received our food. She went to go ask the chef's but they just totally ignored her. She ended picking up (similar sushi) orders for others. My caterpillar was on the counter ready and has been sitting there for over 30 minutes. My wife just ordered a tempura sushi which I've seen people (who came in after) already get. We asked our server again but she seem to checked the counter, but did not even come to us to explain anything (acting so oblivious).
