It's in Garland, Texas, a town not far from where I live. And it felt like a kids paradise from the moment I walked down the stairs into the children's area. I saw children gathered around for a special event, and they were all filled with joy and many were giggling. What a beautiful experience it was to see such happiness around books. And isn't that what being a child is supposed to be like? The walls were covered with creative nature scenes, just like you're walking into a storybook. And they carved out the sweetest little reading nooks so you could enjoy your time, privately, with a great story. There was a wonderful artistic mobile hanging over the area where you walk down to the children's area, and fun seating for storytime readings. And let's not miss out on the slide kids can go down to get to the children's area. What a fun idea! Hats off to whomever thought that one through! Every person I talked to in this library was genuinely nice. It truly felt like a safe and happy place to be - for both children and adults. I'm coming back with my grandchildren, and I already know it will be a great adventure for us all!

Wonderful library full of an entire bottom floor built for kiddos! There's a computer corner,…read morereading nooks, a large slide that kids can take to the bottom level (it hasn't been open though the last 2 times we visited), an LED interactive wall for kids to explore, small toy ponies for the littles to ride, and thousands of books! I am seriously so impressed with it here in the middle of Downtown Garland. My two toddlers have had the best times here and looking forward to attending their story times and activities.

The Rowlett Library is just that - an inviting place where everyone is welcome and all the staff is over the top nice! My daughter and granddaughter got their first library car le there, and my granddaughter immediately found wonderful books to check out. Its well designed, and I loved the books they had on the top of the displays for the children to see. My granddaughter was so excited when she saw them. The other thing I really like about this Library is... it's very engaged with the community. Over the summer, they had activities every day for the kids. That speaks volumes in my book!

Also smoking is permitted outside the front entrance, not good for children and in general whom prefer not to get second hand smoke lung cancer. Also weird there has been a sign near Hawaiian falls for future home of North Garland library site for years now with no breaking of ground.

The Lochwood library is a great place for all of the family to spend a calm, relaxing day, browsing through the rows and rows of books, movies, music, periodicals and other materials. There is a special section for the children where they can explore literature, listen to music and fall in love with public services such as the library. This library also has classrooms and a theater with classes and productions being put on all the time. Check the local calendar for more information. This location does have DVD/BlueRay movies as well as a drive through book return window to avoid having to leave your car. Enjoy!

I was surprised since the library in Houston all close at 6:00PM. Library is a place where we can being indoor with the AC and a restroom to use if need to. There are plenty of parking space here and there are some steps to go up to the main door and there is a ramp near the handicap parking space. My only complain is there is not enough tree planted area here for some shaded parking space. The first floor is the kids section. and downstairs is the adult section, they have stairs and elevators. There are pretty of chairs and table. There is a puzzle table where anyone can work on the puzzle and that was where we spend our time there. The staff here are very friendly by helping me to pronounce the name of the library was named after properly.

I give them back the books I've read so they can be sold to others. I can't afford the prices of new books, so I wait until they are used and buy them.

The Richardson Public Library has been a staple in my life almost all of my life. I remember…read morecoming to here to research papers I was writing all the way back to my young school days. While the library is all the things a library should be and you would think it would be, the Richardson Public Library is SO much more... For example this past weekend they held "Eggstravaganza" which was essentially fun, games, and of course, an Easter egg hunt, for the kids. They also hold Mah Jongg lessons and host a Mah Jongg League, host computer classes, AI lessons, teach Excel, host job clinics, as well as several other events (check out my photo of the current and upcoming events calendar). These activities have been a great way for me to not only support them, but also re-connect with the community. The library is SO good in fact, last week they won the Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. Wgat's more is that this is their 20th year in a row of winning this honor...Congratulations Richardson Public Library and thank you to all the staff and volunteers for doing what you all do!!!

It was such a well organized free event (everything was provided). I had a good time putting together and designing my little fall pumpkin. This library is probably great for kids with many educational programs, etc. But if you are an…read moreadult who enjoys adult fiction, forget it. They seem to get some adult fiction, biographies, bestsellers, but the selection is not great or consistent. The website is not user friendly (or accurate) at all. If you try to renew a book online, it actually deducts days from your original due date for some peculiar reason. When I called library staff about it, they were mostly unhelpful. The last time I went in to pick up a book, I was ignored by 2 young people just sitting around talking/laughing. I had to walk over to another staff member who was doing other work to get checked out. This used to be a MUCH better run library. Not sure what has happened, but I'll be driving over to the next city for books from now on, even though this library is several blocks away. It's a shame.

It seems staffers don't or can't do anything to enforce the quiet. To a certain degree, it's the Karen parents who could care less what their kids do. The parking lot was crowded where it counted.
