Went here after google searching for the top tattoo places in Washington, Sacred Soul Tattoo was in that list. I came into Sacred Soul Tattoo thinking I wanted the exact copy of the design I found online, a cloud holding 2 lightning bolts. I was a walk in customer and Colin, one of the artists, was available. One thing I really appreciate about Colin is his creativity, he doesn't push it if you don't want some originality to your tattoo, but will provide it if you want some. He gave my cloud holding lightning bolts tattoo a nice creative twist, I really liked the design he came up with and went with his design. Colin ended up doing my third tattoo, a color tattoo, I could not have asked for anything better. He did a wonderful job with the shading and lines. I would put a picture with this post but my tattoo is still healing. Bottom line: Would highly recommend having Colin be your artist for any color, merry/geeky tattoo, or honestly any. He is also easy to talk to during your tattoo session and I hope to be seeing him again in the future for another design in mind! Colin Bryant is an apex artist. What completely put him over the top was actively listening both in our consultation and implementation. I went in with a specific example & clear what I wanted. Almost immediately upon my explaining, he was able to find and share an example better than the one I walked in with. Day of implementation he shared an elevated image we initially looked at and offered another viable option. When it came to coloration he again utilized his superior listening and expert art skills to provide a stunning piece of work. This is not my first tattoo. SO DISAPPOINTED!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I have been following Michelle's art for years because I was a huge fan and wanted to get my main piece done by her. I filled out my application with a basic idea of what I wanted, stating that I was super flexible with size, placement, and style so she could let her creative juice flow. I also said that I wanted her to really put herself into it and I wasn't worried about cost. I asked the guy at the front desk some questions about the process, but he was more interested in telling me about his work than helping me with mine so I didn't receive very clear answers. He did say this piece was right up her ally and I was told her assistant would call me and do a phone interview that weekend. 2 weeks went by and I heard nothing so I politely emailed the shop asking if I was missing something and I got a huge long response from Michelle declining my project stating that she had a hand injury and cant do ribs and how she didn't respond because of this and that. I replied requesting that she reconsider since I never even received an interview, stated that I felt it was a misunderstanding, and restated how flexible I was with placement. I got a rude email back from Michelle stating that she went on my Facebook and called one of the people on my friends list to complain that I was being pushy. I apologized if it came of like that explaining that I was just excited and felt I deserved at least an interview. Nothing. I think its immature and ridiculous that she had the time to call that person instead of just me. I never got to speak with her or her assistant. This ended up just becoming a ego fit and she clearly doesn't care about the art anymore. The popularity has gone to her head. So if you still want work done, make sure you walk on eggshells with her and have your Facebook on private. read more

Been patiently waiting on an email back since 7/2020 from the owner(Michelle), with no avail, besides the generic generated email when I first sent my inquiry. Sent another email 11/2020, again, same generic generated email. Fast forward... March 2021, still no reply. I get it, most tattoo shops are booked out, but it takes literally minutes to email someone back. Here's what the owner (Michelle) says in the generic email : "Due to an overwhelming amount incoming email requests my booking process now consists of quarterly scheduling for new tattoo projects. I review all email requests once a month to determine which requests I can take on. If I'm unable to accommodate your request I will refer you to an artist better suited for what you are requesting. " Notice, she checks her email once a month, books quarterly or will refer you to another artist?! It's been 8 months, no reply. Mind you I waited 4 months to send another follow up email just in case they didn't receive the first one I sent on 7/2020. Silence, crickets, zip, zelch, naddahword. Artists grumbled about taking on a small piece (even though we were aware of the shop minimum and were happy to pay that). Holy Sh*t this shop is cool. First of all, I really enjoy the "homey" feel of the shop. It's in a historic house in downtown renton and it's beautiful in there, it's got a really cozy and comfortable feel. Though the paperwork can feel overwhelming, I appreciate how the shop educates their clients about the risks involved of getting tattooed. Chris was my tattoo artist and he was very professional and considerate when discussing my idea. His overall enthusiasm for the piece had me stoked to get the work done. Chris did a great job at making sure I stayed comfortable during the entire process and the outcome was mind blowing. Michelle is one of the kindest and most talented artists in the Seattle area, nay, the World! I've been tattooed by her locally and in Europe and I can say with complete pride and confidence that her work is the best I have ever had. I constantly have people commenting on my piece that is still a WIP. It's agreed that the black & white shading work she's done is one of the best most people have seen. If you want a great tattoo from a custom artist that will wow your friends or wow yourself every time you see it, this is the place to go! There might be a waiting list, but there is a reason for that and the wait is totally worth it. She is not just a tracer, but an artist and will give you a truly unique and intimate piece of art on your body. You have to remember that you are marking your body for "life" and if you can't wait a month to get it, than you need to calm down and think about who would be doing your 0-day tattoo and how many pieces they turn out every day that they trace onto your arm and don't care about the second you walk out the door. what an amazing artist! i recently lost one of my 14 year old kitties and knew that i wanted to have his and his brother's portraits tattooed on my arm. i have been to slave to the needle in wallingford and had a good experience there, but when i saw michelle's animal portraits in her portfolio, i knew she was the one for this piece. she also came recommended by 2 friends, so that was good, too. she's hard to get time with, so you have to be patient. it took 6 weeks to get my first appointment and that was only because of a cancellation, and my next 2 are 6-8 weeks apart. but here's the thing: this is a piece of art that is going to be on my body forever and has tremendous sentimental value. i am willing to wait for the right person to do it. her customer service is great, too. she's impossible to get ahold of, so i had to stop into the shop whenever i wanted to talk to her about planning (i live 3/4 of a mile away, so no issue for me), but once i was in the chair, she got to show how much she really cares about her clients and her business. the first phase took an hour & a half longer than she expected, so she gave me the excess time free; she really understood exactly what i wanted and made it work; she doesn't do small pieces because she isn't good at them and has the integrity not to do work she can't be proud of, but she made the portraits as small as she could so they could go on my arm. that really meant a lot to me. if you want a piece you're very serious about - especially a large piece - i highly recommend michelle. read more

I am a customer for life with these guys! And trust me, I've been to a few shops and have gotten work done at Seattle Tattoo Emporium, Damask Tattoo (now part of Laughing Buddha), and Deep Roots Tattoo (Alderwood). Had a great experience here getting my first tattoo. The artist knows her stuff, though she has only been practicing for a year. She does amazing work for only doing it a short time. She does other art forms, too, which contributes to her success. This is a fairly new shop (only opened in Sept 06), so word hasn't gotten out far and wide yet. Michelle is a perfectionist in her work, wanting every detail just right and the client's happiness is of utmost importance. She has made her place family friendly with a kid's play room stocked with videos and toys...perfect for those who would otherwise not get the tattoo of their dreams for lack of a babysitter for the time such a thing takes. I can't say enough great things about Michelle and Sacred Soul. I went to their shop last May 2012 for my first tattoo. I knew it was a custom shop and I would have to wait for an appointment, but the reality is, if you want excellent work, you wait. I had no issues with getting scheduled for a couple of months out. In July, she walked me through my first tattoo. Amazing doesn't even come close to describing it. I get stopped all the time and asked who did the work. She took the time to draw and resize everything until it was perfect for me. There was no pressure to rush or do it her way. Everything is custom and done at the customers pace. We loved her work so much, my husband has been in twice since then and I started a half sleeve in December of 2012. My half sleeve was a vision in my head, that I used words and some photos to describe to Michelle and she brought it to life. Each month we work on it and the piece becomes more spectacular. This is a custom shop where the atmosphere is one of friendship. Michelle and her staff know their clients, I am not just a walk in with no name. She knows me, my likes and dislikes, my life. This gives them an insight to my personality and it shows up in the artwork. I am not a patient person by nature, but I have no issue with scheduling an appointment and waiting a bit knowing the work is going to be a permanent part of me. Her pricing is fantastic for the work offered and again you get a personalized experience. I laugh at any complaints here, as it sounds as though those individuals were looking for a quick tattoo. That is not how Sacred Soul works. Michelle is more than fair in her scheduling and will get anyone on her book as soon possible. I appreciate the service and time she spends with each client offering them the same outstanding experience that she offers me. Check them out, stop by and say Hello. I am so glad I found this place for my tattoo. I'm currently getting work done on my upper arm by Michelle's apprentice, Kelsey Blake. She is such a sweetheart and takes what she does seriously and you can see and feel the passion she has for this art. I've had 2 sessions with her and so far so great. I'll share the finished piece when it's done! The rest of the artists - lil Chris, Colin, & Michelle (the owner) are so welcoming and absolutely hilarious. Michelle was with Kelsey and I a majority our second session and it was full of laughter which is always a welcoming distraction. You can tell all the artists, especially lil Chris, care about Kelsey's work and want her to be the best she can be and give her advice whilst she's tattooing.
