This review is long overdue…read more I made the best decision of my life to become a patient with Dr. Garcia back in early 2014. I wanted to brighten up my 56 year old skin, Dr. Garcia and Sonja knew exactly what would work for me. I set up some appointments and instantly bonded with the office staff, everyone was so friendly and happy, that to me is a great indication of a well run business. Shortly after setting up those appointments I got a phone call from my GP that I had cancer. I realized that I would be dealing with much bigger issues than a brighter, smoother complexion so I called Sonja and cancelled my plans. I also asked Sonja to please check with Dr. Garcia to see if he could and would get me through the needed surgery and reconstruction. I innately knew that this was the Doctor and office for me! That very day that I got that scary phone call I became a patient on a whole new level. Dr. Garcia agreed to take on my reconstruction and I never for one moment felt fear, anxiety or hopelessness. Words cannot describe how welcome I felt at each and every appointment. No question was too silly and believe me I documented every little detail as Sonja can attest. I wanted to be armed with every bit of information out there for anyone in my circle of family and friends that might ever get diagnosed with this disease. Each step of the process was explained and I am happy to report I had zero setbacks. I trusted Dr. Garcia thoroughly and wow, does he know his profession. UNLAWFULLY OPERATED…read more The practice is run by a Physician Assistant (PA), but New York State law clearly states that PAs must work under the supervision of a licensed physician. When I asked to speak with their Medical Director, I was told they didn't have one. (Article 131-B of the New York Education Law governs the practice of physician assistants in the state.) The injector GiGi performed unauthorized treatments, including injecting Botox into my gummy lines--something I never requested or approved. When I returned to address the poor results, the PA had to step in to sternly direct the injector to only use half an injection to fix the Spock brow I had been left with. Despite these efforts, the results were far from satisfactory. My appearance resembled what can only be described as a "serial killer" smile. (See below pictures) They also convinced me to choose a "lip flip" instead of lip fillers, claiming it would help "quiet my facial muscles" before injections. It's unclear whether the resulting smile was caused by the lip flip or the unauthorized gummy line injections, but the outcome has been devastating. Even three months later, my smile is still not back to normal, despite being told that the effects would wear off quickly. The dismissive attitude that mistakes don't matter because "Botox wears off" is unacceptable. If a procedure's effects last for months, the least they can do is get it right the first time. Another alarming issue is their lack of transparency. While consent and waiver forms are uploaded to the online portal, they fail to include any documentation of the injection sites. This omission feels deliberate, and it makes me question what they might be trying to hide. On a personal level, this experience ruined what should have been a joyful time. I had just returned from a 10-month military deployment and was looking forward to reuniting with my loved ones. I wanted to look refreshed and less stressed, but instead, I ended up feeling self-conscious and unattractive. I even asked my boyfriend to delay proposing because I didn't want to look this way in engagement photos. It's heartbreaking that such a special moment had to be put on hold because of their carelessness. The staff assured me that what happened to me was rare and that the effects would subside quickly. However, after extensive research, I found only one similar case online, which confirms that my experience is far from normal.
