They have Sapporo on tap which is nice. Also had the edamame as an appetizer. The server wasn't super on top of her game so the sushi boat sat for quite awhile before I finally said something and she realized it had been ready. Not the end of the world but definitely a training opportunity. The sushi was good--not great. But it was also priced in that range so no problem. Good portions making it a good value. Avocado cucumber roll - kiddo approved! Nice bite size maki roll. 5 stars. Hamachi roll - chopped up hamachi with green onion. Not super fresh but still good. 3 stars. Teriyaki salmon bento box - definitely the deal to get! Loved the real crab in the California roll and the large tempura pieces - shrimp, carrot, kabocha, broccoli and zucchini. Definitely a shame of a restaurant as they have servers who blatantly ignore their customers in a way that can only be described with racial intent we arrived and were seated pretty quickly with a party of 3 and a party of 4 behind us. We were seated first and given our waters but after 10 mins the server for our section tended to everyone else, made eye contact with me multiple times and when trying to signal her attention she ignored me and went to tend to the party of 4 seated after us. Not only this, everyone was served ice water out of wine type glasses and we were given beer glasses with no straw and room temperature water. It was also a 90 degree day and although this was right after graduation ceremony they were not full, as I mentioned we were seated right away with other tables getting their checks when we arrived. My family and I went this week to celebrate me and my sister's graduation, and unfortunately had to wait 2hours to be seated after the hostess quoted us a 25-30min wait. We were patient and constantly checking in to see our wait time, but unfortunately I don't think they were well equipped enough for the amount of business they were getting. We went upstairs to get a drink and were upset to see a party that came well after us seated before us. Sushi has been my favorite food since I was kid, so of course since my favorite sushi spot is closed on my birthday I had to find a new one. So of course I go to my go-to, Yelp, to figure out where to go. Sada looks like a great place from photos so I call and make a reservation for 10 people for my 42nd birthday. We get there and my friends start trickling in. We order and i'm getting excited. I ordered the sada roll which is deep-fried mahi-mahi, garlic, scallions & special sauce. It comes and I take one bite and no flavor, and dry. Like I said, I've been eating sushi for a long time. I don't think I've ever had to soak a piece of sushi in shoyu " soy sauce" to eat it. My Husband got a roll as well and wasn't impressed, he said it was dry as well. Some other friends had ramen, my oldest daughter had Tori-don - chicken teriyaki rice bowl, everyone said it was okay. So bummed by not liking the food. The atmosphere and the customer service was great. We may come back another time and try other items since they do have a large menu. read more

Parking appears to be street only. Busy weekend and orders were taking longer than usual and appeared to be short staffed. I don't know what it's called but they do have an area where you can reserve to dine where you take your shoes off and sit on your knees or butt. Looked cool. Included are menu items and prices. Enjoyed the white tuna nigiri, miso soup, Philly roll. The spicy tuna roll was spicier than normal; would almost call it Sriracha tuna; I'm accustomed to more mayo in the mix but it was enjoyable. The chicken gyoza was interesting. Would not order again. Mushy texture. Dipping sauce was great. They have non sushi roll options if you'd like. We were just visiting. 3% service charge for all orders with a 2.9% discount for cash payment. Second time eating here. I had the pork cutlet Katsu-Don, just above mediocre relative to big city Japanese restaurants. We shared three sushi specialty rolls, just above mediocre as well, even compared to our last visit which was excellent. The service, hosting to waitpersons were great, very attentive and professional. Downstairs ambience is very nice, but no natural light. Sadly, I saw an employee young man in the men's room leave the stall and never wash his hands, I'm hoping he at least washed in the kitchen. It might be hard for me to go back. read more

The food is fine and the location is reasonable. However, the service has been severely lacking every time I've been here (about once a year, always at the request of someone else). Every time I've eaten here, if we're not ready to order with 5 minutes of being seated, we can't order for another 30 minutes because our table isn't checked on again (we've timed it and several times have been minutes away from walking out without having placed an order). Once we finally do order, food being delivered to the table is the last opportunity to check in with a staff member, since they do not circle back to follow up on food or drinks. I've visited this sushi spot 3 times over the last month, each experience was a little different: Visit 1: I really enjoyed all the rolls we ordered, especially the healthy roll. Our server was very friendly. I had Erath Pinot Gris, and my partner had a cocktail -- I forget the name, but it had yuzu and tequila, he really enjoyed it; it was balanced, and not overly sweet. I appreciate that Sada has oshinko (pickled radish), it's one of my favorite items to get in a roll and I have had a hard time finding it on sushi menus in the area. They also had mango, and by request, made us mango avocado rolls. Visit 2: At our second visit, we tried the miso eggplant, it was savory with a delicious citrus finish. We also had the same sushi order from our first visit, everything was enjoyable. The lack of an available IPA was disappointing. Visit 3: We previously sat at a booth, and this was our first time sitting at a table. We were up against a fish tank, which looked clean, but there was a very off-putting stagnant water smell. I tried the vegetable roll this time in addition to my usual order, and it was a bit sweet for my taste. We ordered the miso eggplant again, and really enjoyed it. My partner tried something new, and ordered the vegetable curry....this is where things got interesting. I really wish I had taken a photo because it's going to be hard to explain the presentation. The curry sauce came in a gravy boat, and was incredibly thick. We could tell it was made using those little curry cubes you can find at the grocery store, which is fine, but it needed a little TLC. In a separate bowl, there was rice, and very large pieces of steamed veggies. We had the same server from our second visit, and she was attentive overall, but not friendly like our first server. And again, no IPA available. Overall, our experiences at Sada have been a mixed bag, some things were a hit, and some were a miss. read more

My favorite japanese restaurant in Corvallis! Its owner was previously a sushi chef in Osaka Japan! Nice location in the heart of downtown Corvallis! I love their bamboo and lantern decor inside and you can reserve a tatami room for a more intimate experience. We got there when it was packed for dinner. They took our phone number and would give a call when a table was ready. Theres a park with a walking path right by the restaurant that we wandered around while we waited for a spot to open up. The service was fantastic! Our server was super courteous and always made sure we had everything we needed. This restaurant prioritizes their guest's experience. The food itself was amazing. Our favorites from everything we tried were the Vegetable Tempura, scallop sashimi and beef curry! The curries come in this genie spout that makes it easy to pour. nice authentic Japanese sushi place, we have been here for ramen too but that has been more than 10 years ago. was craving for some authentic California roll, and it's now called golden if you want the little orange flying fish roe eggs. super poppy and crunch and the roll uses real crab meat!!! very delicious though a bit more pricey than other places. Sada and Alaskan roll were both fishes. Sada was garlic deep fried mahi mahi and Alaskan was smoked salmon with cream cheese. Preferred salmon anytime over mahi mahi in sushi, maybe it was deep fried so it felt a bit too dry to taste, and plain even with the special dipping sauce. Alaskan roll was very addicting if you're someone that doesn't like to eat raw sashimi but still enjoys salmon or smoked salmon. takoyaki was very crunchy and delicious and great presentation with the sauce not toppled all over to make it soggy. ample parking on street, and Sada sushi is adjacent to a taco place and you walk downstairs. They have a lot of tables for large groups or small lunch/dinner date for 2 like I did. Since I didn't get to try their sashimi I cannot comment on it. Hosted a graduation dinner here for my daughter recently and it went very well. This is one of her favorite restaurants. I called Sada to make a reservation a few months back since I knew it would be a very busy time in June with graduations. They were able to secure one for me and due to the number of guests I was going to have (19) they would put us in the back which is a private room pretty much. It was spacious and they were able to rearrange the tables so everyone was facing one another and we would be able to engage and have conversations. We were also able to put up a congratulations sign on the wall, have balloons and cake. Our server was Heidi and she was wonderful. She was very attentive to our large group, friendly, always had a smile and got all of our orders correctly. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and delicious and the drinks were great! The location is wonderful in downtown Corvallis and plenty of parking. We had a great time and want to say thank you for having us! I'll be sure to come back when we are in the area again. read more

Maguro, Sake, White Tuna All the above was on the menu when we were looking for some good sushi in Corvallis. Parking I can tell may be at a premium at various times with the amount of restaurants that are around. So do keep that in mind. This is located right on the Riverwalk and is located in basement of the building. The sushi was very good. The flavors and mixtures of what they put together was very well done and very well portioned. My wife and I ate at the bar and had an amazing experience. There are literally dozens of tables scattered around this location, and all seemed to be full on a Tuesday dreary cold evening. Time for some hot Saki!! All in all, this is what you would come to expect from a good sushi restaurant. The chefs preparing the food were very timely, not too big of a hurry to make you eat and go, but also very willing and able to help at a moments notice despite being very busy for a Tuesday evening. I would definitely recommend the Sada roll and the "special" sauce that they have you dip your roll into. It is something that I haven't ever tasted before and gives a whole different flavor profile to the role. And no, I hate dipping my food in ketchup or spicy mayo. The Kiska roll, is well dreamy, creamy goodness with some deep-fried shrimp. Can you really go wrong here. This will definitely be a go to spot in the future! read more

Not sure if service was slow because staff just came back from a couple weeks of break or if it's always been this slow. My partner and I came in during Sada's lunch hours recently to try out their sushi and we ended up being at the restaurant for over 2 hours. Most of it was spent waiting for our food to come, despite the restaurant only having 5 parties/tables. We started with a sushi combination platter that came with a rainbow roll and assorted nigiri. The fish tasted fresh for the most part (except for the uni... had a really off-putting taste), but the nigiri and rolls were pretty heavily lined with rice. We waited a little over and hour for this plate alone so we decided to place a second order when the server brought the platter. We ordered a surf clam nigiri and 5pc salmon sashimi and waited almost another hour for those 2 plates to come... salmon sashimi was silky and creamy--perfect texture. Surf clam was also good, aside from the thick layer of wasabi the sushi chefs coated between the rice and clam. I'm giving Sada's 3 stars because there are better places in the area with more reasonable prices. I didn't feel this was with the price or the wait. read more

While the sushi is *not bad*, my experience eating here was not great. I came for lunch a few days after they opened back up (September 2021) and ended up spending over 2 hours in the restaurant - not because my partner and I were eating that long, but because we waited an hour both times we ordered something. The first dish we ordered was a lunch special combo (some sashimi + a roll) which took over an hour to be delivered to our table. We were still hungry so we ordered some more nigiri and sashimi, which took another hour to be prepared and delivered. If it were some super stellar sushi, I would be happier to wait - but while the quality of the fish was not bad, it wasn't great either. Just so-so. Also cost way more than we would normally pay for sushi, not to mention for higher grade sushi. The combo + an order of sashimi + a nigiri came out to over $50. read more

Four stars not five...review for ramen tonkotsu. Pork was flavorful, tender and juicy through and through. With one exception, the other elements were satisfactory. The egg was hard boiled and after inquiring about a less-boiled egg with two servers, learned that less-done yolks are not available here, ever. Big disappointment for me. When I first moved here, I was always wondering where I can get my sushi fix. Coming from Seattle, expectations of sushi in Corvallis was low considering the hundreds of sushi places I can easily get to back in Washington. However, one of my friends whom I've met at church was excitingly recommending Sada Sushi to me. At first I was skeptical but it was coming from someone who goes to Japan every year and whom just gotten back. Ok, I have to try it. Not only that, she gave me and my wife a list of specific things to order JUST so that we can have an amazing impression of Sada Sushi. And now, whenever we have people come from out of town and we want to show them something nice, we order some Sada's Sushi. Here was her go-to list and I will comment on each one: Amaebi - Wow, one of our favorites! I cannot decide whether I like the raw shrimp more or the extra crunchy-it-might-hurt-you shrimp head. Personally one of my favorites. Ika - Raw squid roll and it was my first time eating raw squid straight up. I thought it was interesting but if I'm honest... I'm still trying to get used to that texture. Ika Geso - WOW, deep-fried squid legs on skewers. The flavor on this thing is amazing!!! This appetizer is how you WANT to start the meal. (Shiso) Toro Rolls - This is premium as premium can get. I try to get fatty tuna rolls at every high-end sushi restaurant and most of the time, you can't go wrong with a piece of meat that is so fatty it just MELTS in your mouth. Sada's Shiso Toro Roll is probably my first or 2nd favorite (vs. Amaebi) Wasabi Rolls - An american-style roll that honestly.. I will probably order every time. The crunchiness of tobiko inside of the rolls is what makes it special to me. Hamachi Kama - Lastly, salmon collar. It's great, it's fatty, it's oily, it's perfect with rice. If you like fried food and want to indulge, get this. Lastly, I've also tried many of their other rolls and kitchen items. I am not a salmon guy anymore but my wife LOVES the salmon belly. We also occasionally top the meal off with something that will fill us that is cheap. We tried their Gyu-don, Oyako-don, Sukiyaki, Tempura Udon. Again, it was alright but it's not why you want to go to a nice sushi place. FYI : We've eaten in person, ordered enough for party of 10+ for delivery and pickup. We had the Subo Nabe hot pot. Definitely feeds two, more like 4+. Was huge and overwhelmingly full of Salmon, some clams and a tiny bit of chicken. If you love slamming salmon, udon noodles, broth and yes more salmon, this is the dish for you. Jawbones, collars, pectoral, dorsal, ventral fins, tail, cheeks, all there. I ordered the lobster roll and I thought it was going to be something fresh and awesome and it was fried and chewy - I could've ordered a shrimp tempura roll and been happier.
