I cannot do thatbecause I had several concerns. I stayed in room 12 and after several days I moved to room 3. I am sure that you remember me. Firstly, the AC/heat was broken. Initially I was told that it would be fixed and then I was told that itwould have to be replaced. I was given a space heater which did not work well. The unit in mynew room (3) did not work well although it did work. I set the heat at 68 and in the morning theroom temp was 65. It was not even an unseasonably cold night. Most importantly as I discussed with you while I was there I got at least 50 bites from being inroom 12. Initially I thought that perhaps these were mosquito bites but they were not. After a fewdays I realized that I was waking up with more bites than I went to bed with and suffered quite abit. I had never experienced bed bugs as far as I knew and the possibility did not initially occur tome. When I did think of that possibility I asked for a room change. The "manager" initially told methat she wanted me to leave the hotel and that she would refund the REMAINDER of my stay (notthe bed bug part). She did NOT offer to find another decent hotel room for me and did NOT offerto pay for one. I told her that I was not going to leave. Subsequently she placed me in room 3 andoffered NO help in moving my things. She offered NO apology. To make matters worse shevolunteered that going forward the hotel would not provide any food at night for my breakfast (Ileft daily before breakfast) despite having done so (in a very small/limited way) prior to that time.The new room had about 6 tissues in the box (I showed her what was there) and she REFUSEDto provide a new box of tissues (Her brother subsequently did provide one). Upon changing rooms the nocturnal bites ceased although I suffered the effects of those bites forseveral more days. The owner spoke with me and told me that he and housekeeping examinedroom 12 and determined that there were no bed bugs. He declined to get a professionalexamination of the room because he said that he and housekeeping had the experience neededto diagnose the problem. I think that there were either bed bugs or some other insects such asmites or fleas. Based on my reading and on the pattern of my bites I believe that bed bugs weremost likely. Several of the bites occurred in groups of 3 and most but not all were on exposedskin. I got bites on my left eyelid, neck, upper chest, both arms, both wrists, both feet, torso andlegs. Upon returning home I have felt it wise to treat my belongings as having been contaminatedwith bed bugs. This is a major hassle and and expense. I may throw out my luggage. I will notthrow out my expensive camera equipment and there is no easy/safe way to be sure that it doesnot harbor bugs. I have a big problem. I want a refund for the cost of my stay. A full refund would be most reasonable but I will not acceptless than $1000. If this is not possible I will indeed write online reviews and investigate other ways to address the situation. Please let me know if you are going to at least try to partially make things right. If I fail to hearfrom you soon I will assume that you will not be issuing a refund and I will act accordingly. This is a great hotel for visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. It is just a 10-minute drive to the Beaver Meadows entrance. The room was clean and quiet. Parking was available just in front of the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative was the breakfast. There were just two tables, and there wasn't much on offer: Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, croissants, muffins, and coffee. read more

The price was changed from the booking to check-in, but when I asked for an itemized receipt to show the cost per night and taxes they claimed they weren't able to do that and could only give me my total cost for the whole stay. They have a policy that if you are checking in after 9 pm you have to call ahead, but that's not clear at booking. We saw multiple people attempt to check in after 9 and they were confused and frustrated to say the least. Walls are THIN, so I hope you like your neighbors! read more

We were in Estes Park for a wedding and spent 4 nights at the Saddle and Surrey. I was worried that our late arrival would be an issue, but it wasnt... our room key was available for us even with an 11 pm arrival! The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a mini fridge and microwave (some rooms have kitchenettes). The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. The heater and a/c worked perfectly and the water in the bathroom/shower heated up in 2 seconds flat (thank goodness for natural gas). The only issue I had was the tiny shower stall, but the super hot water made up for that! The location was perfect for our weekend activities, including hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. The free breakfast was not fancy, but it hit the spot (bagels, cereal, oatmeal, coffee). Thanks, Saddle and Surrey, for a great stay! read more

What a cute little motel! I'm usually a little put off by motels but not this one! I booked through a third-party website so I didn't know that you had to call to get your keys if you were going to be there past 9 PM, hey I called anyways around eight for some other reason so she left the key out for me. I'm not sure what would've happened if we got there past 9, so make sure you call in advance. We had room 2 and it was so cute. Very clean. Comfy bed. Great price. Great location close to everything! The next morning there was elk everywhere! If we go back to Estes Park we will definitely stay here again. read more

In 30 years of travel both overseas and in the states, I have never come across such a rude clerk. Plus even though we had a confirmation number they had over booked ( Labor Day Weekend) and the clerk said too bad not my problem! WHAT? We got there at check in time so we were not late we were just unlucky!! The same thing happened to a family of 5 checking in on Friday night, same weekend. Our family enjoyed a 3 night stay here as we explored the Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park and downtown Estes Park. They allowed early check in. The grounds and building were well maintained. Our room was clean and in good repair. Lighting in the room was a little strange - no central light fixture, only a few lamps, so a little dark. We liked the mountain view from our room. A good location for all that we were doing in the area. Apparently under fairly recent new ownership ( a local family bought it only 6 months ago). read more

Off-season it's very cheap considering the location in Estes Park, though it is placed a bit far from the town center (which I prefer). We had a wonderful stay here. This old-school style motel was friendly, clean and in a great location, and was far nicer than a chain. In fact it was much nicer than expected, though it does get very good ratings, for good reason. You didn't have to go to nature, it comes to you! We had a close encounter with an elk right outside our room! It walked right by our room to snack on a tree in the parking lot, and walked right by my boyfriend who was outside on a phone call! The bed must have had a pillow top covering, as it was so plush and comfortable! The room was spotless, towels in the bathroom were generous in size and thick. Free Wifi and a nice size fridge was in the room, plus the front desk gave us bottled water when asked. They do have a small complimentary continental breakfast, but we opted to eat at 2 of the excellent breakfast restaurants in town instead (Mountain Home Cafe and Notchtop). It's close enough to the downtown area and very near entrances to Rocky Mountain National Park. We liked the place so much we stayed 3 nights, and if in Estes Park again, would stay here again in a heartbeat. Tip: AAA discounts available. read more

My wife and I have only stayed at one other place in Estes Park, The Stanley Hotel. We weren't happy with the cleanliness of the Stanley, especially for the price we paid. So this time we booked last minute and the only room we could find online was the Saddle & Surrey Motel. We arrived after hours to find that we were upgraded from a queen to a king. The room was impressively clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and made our short stay pleasant. The hot tub looks brand new and it felt great to dip in for a bit. Ah, the Saddle & Surrey Motel! This has been our go to place for the past five or six years. I almost don't want to review it so I can keep the secret. We've been visiting Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park at least once and most years twice, for more than 25 years. In that time we've stayed at every class of accommodation to be had in the area. Motels, hotels, resorts, cabins, condos, B&Bs, even the venerated Stanley Hotel. Every one of them was either sadly deficient in some critical way or so outrageously expensive, sometimes both, we never wanted to return to any of them. Except this one. We'll actually change our plans if the days we want are already booked when we call for reservations. It's an old school strip motel owned and operated by a very friendly couple. Beautifully maintained, immaculately clean, comfortably furnished, and very reasonably priced. It's a couple of miles south of the main part of town along a dark stretch of Hwy 7 in a quiet residential area, so if getting loaded after dinner and walking back to your room is part of your deal this place isn't for you. read more

What a find! We have been coming to Estes for 20 years. I cannot count the number of times we have driven by this motel, however, until the last few days we had not had the pleasure of staying here. Barb, your hostess, is a dear. She sincerely cares that you are comfortable and enjoy your stay. Pastries and coffee are provided every morning after the office opens at 8 a.m. Our room was spacious with two queen beds and a full kitchen. No, you aren't staying at the Waldorf Astoria, but the rooms are clean and the beds are quite comfortable with all the comforts of home. Your location is perfect. A highway 7 locale means you are away from the craziness of downtown Estes during the summer months or during a seasonal event. You have a terrific Thai restaurant down the street and are a short drive from St. Malo's gorgeous church on the rock. Last but not least, the price can't be beat. We love the Stanley, but it is terribly overpriced. Try the Saddle and Surrey. You'll be glad you did. read more

We stayed here for one night during the Estes Park wine festival. It is about 2 miles from the edge of town but no big deal. It was one of the only places available and I admit I was skeptical (the word motel does that to me). I had read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. WE WERE MORE THAN PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. It was clean, very spacious, and comfortable. We had to book a double room but that was fine. The place was like a large studio apartment INCLUDING a full kitchen.....fridge, microwave, 4 burner stove, dishes and all. Beds were comfortable. The staff was top notch. They allowed us to check in early. And the topper came when Clorinda (the manager) gave me 4 cans of ice cold lemonade from her own fridge after I asked her if there was a vending machine on the property (there isn't). It was above and beyond what I expected. Should you read this Clorinda thank you again for the kindness. This is the kind of thing that goes along way toward me staying again and recommending this place to friends. read more

A wonderful value in Estes Park. Large; clean rooms, comfortable beds, flat screen TV's, pool and hot tub. Sure, it's an old style motel, but it has very nice owners and is convenient to Estes and RMNP without being in the center of town. Stayed there last August and I'll be going back again this year. This motel was recommended to us by someone who stays there each year during the Long's Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival. My room had a double bed, sofa, desk, table with chairs, microwave, mini fridge, and big TV mounted on the wall plus bathroom. My friend's room had two double beds, sofa, huge closet, complete kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, big TV, and bathroom. Both rooms were reasonably priced considering all the rooms in town were sold out for the festival. Free wifi and cleaner than any motel I've ever stayed in. Interiors are funky, but very functional. Motel is just outside of town but very close to festival fair grounds. Owner/wife is a sweetheart. Highly recommended, will stay there again. read more

Wow!! I made a last minute reservation for my two daughters and I for July 4th. I could not be happier! This place is THE CLEANEST motel/ hotel I have stayed at in a long time. The owners are friendly and attentive. It is very family oriented and safe, while being close enough to town.. I think there's even a shuttle stop right in front! Called to confirm my reservation and they told me that they only had a single queen room available and haven't had double rooms available for months. Saddle and Surrey either needs to fix their online reservation booking or honor the reservation. Horrible customer service! This place isa great value. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean if a bit cramped. The furniture is a bit old but comfortable fine and our room had a fridge and microwave. It's quiet and has bunnies hopping around the parking lot. Situated across town from Rocky Mountain National Park, maybe a 10-15 minute drive. Don't be misled by the old fashion motel look of the Saddle & Surrey. We spent three wonderful nights there. The room was immaculate and quiet, the bed was comfortable, small frig provided, flat screen TV and free internet. On top of that the price was right, the staff very friendly and if you want out of the congestion of town the location was good. Granted, the rooms are not overly spacious and the bathroom was small, but very clean. I really cannot say ENOUGH good things about this motel. The service is UNREAL. They are unbelievably kind and go out of their way to accommodate their guests. The owner offered to drive me to and from events when I had no ride. Another friend staying there didn't have a belt for the wedding we were attending and the owners husband GAVE HIM A BELT TO BORROW. Also let them borrow an iron and ironing board. The motel itself is crazy clean and has awesome amenities for the price (free wifi, pool, hot tub, cable). The ONLY thing negative (and it's not Saddle and Surreys fault) is that the hiking shuttle to RMNP doesn't go there. I genuinely had a wonderful experience staying there. We stayed here after reading the reviews and I have to say that it actually lived up to the hype. This was my first time staying at a motel. Pulling into the place reminds you of the setting for any highway horror flick but that's where the similarities end. The owner greater me with a smile and had me laughing with her quick wit. The room was unbelievably clean. I've stayed in much nicer places and paid three times the price and they weren't as clean as this place. Furnishings were outdated, but who really cares because the most important piece of furniture in a motel, the bed, was newer and incredibly comfortable. They didn't skimp on the bed and it really shows. We didn't get a chance to hit the pool but it looked clean enough. Breakfast was good and was what you'd expect for this price point. If you're looking for a three course breakfast stay somewhere else but if your looking for something to fuel you for an early morning hike without the need or expense of finding a place to eat, then this is perfect. read more
