Like most other posters on here, this was my first experience using professional movers. I had always moved myself with the help of friends and family so I had no idea what to expect. And after some of the the horror stories I'd heard from other people, I was not expecting much. Thank goodness I choose wisely and went with SRM. In a word, they were just awesome. Very professional, courteous and hardworking. And at the same time, fun and cool guys. Not many people appreciate hard rock and horror models, but these guys did. Made the hassle and stress of my move not so bad. I certainly hope I don't have to move again for a LONG time but when I do, I will definitely be using them again. Safe and responsible are just a couple words to describe these guys... reliable, quick and friendly could be used as well as well. I used these guys for a move from the south to JP on Friday May 11th. I have never used movers before but these guys came highly recommended and I decided to be an adult and use movers. Wow- had I known it was going to be that easy and honest i wouldn't have debated the idea at all. I wasn't moving with much furniture just mainly boxes and some huge heavy plants and also a another huge piece of art of work. One of of my plants is about 11 ft tall and moving this down from a third floor winding staircase was't going to be easy. These guys got the plant down and out real easy... as well another plant a 5ft cactus. They had me out of the south end and into my JP apt within 2 hours and also let me ride with them over. These guys weren't dudes pumped up on steroids but they managed to move everything quickly and easily. They made my move so much easier...highly recommended! read more

I agree 100% with all of the 5 star reviews on here. These guys look like they should be in the Zac Brown Band with their beards, but they are the best movers in town. They arrived promptly at our 1 bedroom apartment and began loading. We then had them go to my inlaws house to pick up a few more things (including a heavy treadmill) before going to our new house. The whole time they were extremely polite, took great care of all my possessions, did not scratch a thing, and were lightning fast. I reallly cannot recommend these guys enough. I hope I never have to move again, but if I do, I am definitely using these people. If you are even thinking about moving, you NEED to give these guys a call. read more

I have had unpleasant experiences with movers in the past from tardiness, not showing up at all and damaging most of my furniture. Honestly, I thought all moving companies were like this and I just had to accept it. I never write Yelp reviews, but I moved across town last week and this was by far the best moving company I have ever worked with so I thought others should know about them. They were on time (actually a few minutes early), very professional and brought all the necessary equipment to move my things safely. My one bedroom apartment took approximately 2.5 hours (very close to their estimate) to disassemble/re-assemble furniture and move all of the boxes from point A to point B. I have unpacked about half of my belongings and haven't found a single damaged item. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this company. Moved me for the second time Brookline to JP. 2 br apartment in only 2.5 hours with 3 guys. Showed up exactly on time. Wrapped all the furniture and was very careful. Cody and Aaron were awesome! I used them for a move from Brighton to Waltham. They had me out of my old place and into my new place in under 3 hours. And seriously... I had a lot of stuff. Also, the new place has a very narrow and awkward staircase. They moved everything with ease and navigated the twists and turns like true professionals. They were literally on the jog at points. Also, the cost was very reasonable. Their prices were better than I found anywhere and they didnt charge for tape or wrapping my furniture. I hired safe responsible movers based on their yelp ratings and they really lived up to their reputation. Scheduling was easy and convenient. I especially liked how upfront they were with information on prices and expectations for movers, some movers want payment right away but I like their policy of having customers pay after the work is done. They showed up on time, were professional, and brutally efficient. I was very impressed that they were able to move all my stuff plus a really heavy washer and dryer in an hour and twenty. When I first read the name "Safe, Responsible Movers" on Yelp, I thought "Well... if they have to ADVERTIZE that they are safe and responsible... maybe they aren't!". That said, I read all the reviews and decided that Chris and his crew were worth going with. I could not have made a better decision. On a hot 5th of July day when most of Boston was taking the Monday off, Chris and Aaron and Brett came and literally made moving possible. We would not have been able to do it without these guys. Chris and the gang are polite, friendly, amusing and professional. All our stuff arrived safe and sound, including all dis/reassembly, removal of doors that wouldn't let our stuff get through, etc. They have all their own tools, blankets, padding, tape - the works. I was able to totally forget about anything that wasn't related to my own ferrying back and forth of books and clothes and junk. The apartment was setup in no time at all and at a price that blows the big guys out of the water. Next time I move, I'll be using these guys, no hesitation. read more

I have now used them to move four times and they continue to be wonderful, highly communicative, and get the move done in a fraction of the time it takes others. We had items moved out of a storage unit, and they finished moving our stuff out before another unit's movers were complete, even though we had much more stuff. I have to admit I was a little worried after there were some delays in my initial communication with SRM, but I'm so glad I didn't give up as these guys were fantastic and I can't recommend them enough. This was my first time using movers, so I was a little unsure of what to expect, but the team of 3 guys that showed up were extremely efficient at moving our boxes, heavy bedroom furniture and beer brewing equipment. Quote was spot-on and they even called to say they were going to be 5 min late (totally appreciated). We were moving from two locations (ground level in Brookline and second floor in Allston) into a new apartment (first floor in Medford) and the job was finished in 4 hours. They were nice enough to put furniture and boxes where we wanted them to go, even in the basement. Wouldn't hesitate to use them for our next move!! read more

We used Safe Responsible Movers twice within a few months this fall - first from our apartment into storage, and then for a complex move with multiple stops, moving the stuff back out of storage, adding on another apartment's worth of furniture, and then moving it all into a new place (with lots of stairs!) across the city. Both times they were extremely fast and efficient, friendly, responsible, and very reasonably priced. I was also impressed at their ability to quickly tetris all our furniture into the storage unit we rented! We would strongly recommend hiring them for any move. They did a fantastic job. read more

Chris and team helped us move our entire house into the basement, garage and bonus room so that we could refinish our floors. They came back two weeks later and moved us back. All three movers both times were courteous, moved quickly and very carefully. The job was done perfectly, the team was flexible, as we had to change dates a few times, and the price was competitive. I would highly recommend Safe Responsible, and will use them again should we need moving assistance. For reference, we've had a history of using Gentle Giant, which I think is recognized as offering top notch service, but for a very expensive price point. Chris and team matched Gentle Giant's service (perhaps exceeding it), but at a more reasonable cost. As it relates to the estimate process, these guys responded quickly, have no air of slimy salesmanship and offer complete transparency. read more

I recently hired Safe Responsible Movers and I can't say enough about what a great job they did!! Moving can be a stressful ordeal, so anything that can be done to lessen that burden goes a long way in my book. Eric, Mike and Archie were all friendly, professional, and very capable of getting all of my heavy furniture down the stairs, loaded onto their truck and then delivered to my new place. It is worth mentioning that these guys had just come off of a job they did during torrential downpours. Thankfully it had stopped raining by the time they arrived to my place, but it was easily 90 degrees and UNBELIEVABLY humid- not ideal moving conditions, but these guys never faltered or complained. I would definitely use Safe Responsible Movers in the future and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable moving company. PS- Don't forget to tip your movers, people. These guys are amazing at what they do! I agree with the other yelpers that they are very focused and down to business. I was blown away by their communication skills with one another while they worked and they even seemed like they enjoyed what they were doing (which says a lot since we all know moving is the worst). The icing on the cake was that they were able to successfully relocate our very large and heavy arcade game cabinet up a narrow flight of stairs, a task we thought might be impossible. I wrote about these guys in 2010 when they moved a friend of mine. I have since used them 3 times on my own. Chris gets back to me right away, and his crew has always been super efficient, courtious, and professional. Their prices have gone up since 2010, but even so, I think they are still one of the most competativel priced movers around. Chris and his team are INCREDIBLE. My boyfriend and I moved earlier this week from a 2nd floor apartment to a 3rd floor apartment in the torrential, freezing rain on Marathon Monday. With no elevator and tricky, narrow stairs they were able to complete our move, including travel time and re-assembling furniture, in less than 3 hours. Not a single piece of furniture was scratched, nothing broken, and no complaints even though the conditions were less than ideal. These guys truly live up to their name. These guys were the bomb. Showed up on time, were affordable, and worked quickly, efficiently, safely, and responsibly ;) In two hours they: moved me out of my place in JP and into my new place in Cambridge. Somehow were able to get all my crap into my tiny, tiny new place (they took the door off the hinges). Set up my bed, and moved my shelf, desk, and several boxes into my 2nd floor bedroom accessible only by tiny, awkward stairwell. Moved my surplus stuff into the basement. And they let me ride with them in their truck to the new house and we had some fun conversation on the drive up. Plus they were nice and let me do stuff like sweep/mop my room before they moved furniture in, and wrapped my bed in plastic so it wouldn't get dirty. I'm a pretty frugal asshole, but it was totally worth it to hire them. E-mail them to set stuff up. p.s.-it's hard to find prices for them online since they don't have a website, there is one page I found but can't seem to find again, but I paid $200 + $40 tip (always tip folks!) for 2 hrs (the minimum), 2 guys, and a 16 ft truck. read more

Here's the one con, which they are up-front about. No insurance, but that saves you a significant amount of money and I decided that good movers are good movers and chances are your stuff, during an in-state move, is going to be fine. Were they? Yes. Were the previous reviews on Yelp accurate? Absolutely. Here's what I loved right off the bat. I was one of the many people last year who experienced a multitude of real estate debacles and my move schedule got screwed up many times. Each time, Chris was 100% cool with it and just kept saying "We're used to this. It's normal." So moving day finally comes and I take one look at Chris, Aaron and Matt and immediately say "These guys are in a band and do this for their day job", which I loved, because I have a fair amount of indie rocker friends and love them all. Something about them that just says good people. That was a huge relief for me and my instinct was correct. They couldn't have been any nicer, more responsible and shown more hustle, especially living in a building that was a city block long where the freight elevator was on the opposite end from my condo. Every once in a while I got to get a glimpse of Aaron's mad truck packing skills, which are savant-like. On top of it their general sense of humor and laid back personas really helped me, and my family, during an incredibly stressful day. We also took them up on the very reasonably priced overnight hold fee, which made the move that much easier. Naturally, during the move-in day, the buyers of our condo had to move the closing out a good five hours or so, but it didn't effect the guys one bit and when they showed up at the new house they unloaded in no time...in the middle of a snow squall to boot. If you're looking for movers and like helping out the indie upstarts then look no further. You'll be glad you made this call. read more

I would definitely recommend using this company for you moving needs. Chris was responsive and worked with us to schedule the moving date and provided us all the information we needed up front, unlike another company that I called. On moving day, they called to let us know they were almost there and went quickly to work, staying friendly and chatting with us the entire time despite the brutal temperature. They got the job done in four hours, which was faster than I expected and even offered to setup and place furniture, even though they didn't need to. We hired Safe Responsible Movers for a local move from Cambridge to Watertown. The booking process was very simple and was all done online and via email. The company is very transparent and provides you all the information up front to help you prepare. On the day of our move, 3 men and a truck arrived on time! They immediately began unloading their moving supplies. We were very impressed by how organized and efficient they were. The men were very professional, friendly and efficient. The guys helped us move on 7/1. Dealing with them from day 1 was a breeze: from filling out the move quote form, to browsing their helpful FAQ section on their website. All the information provided via email was clear and the guys arrived to our place right on time on moving day. They loaded up the truck quickly and with care.
