I've now used Safe Responsible Movers twice, and couldn't be happier. I'll never move myself again! This most recent move was from a 3rd floor walk-up in JP to a 4th floor walk-up in the North End. The whole move took under 3 hours, and they were awesome and honest enough to actually only bill me for 2 hrs and 45 minutes. Who does that?!? Also, when things got tricky, like my full sized boxspring not fitting up the stairs, ingenuity kicked in! "Let's use the fire escape!" Amazingly my boxspring was carried up 3 flights of fire escape stairs and into my kitchen window, which was skillfully removed from the frame. Safe Responsible Movers should really be called, Safe Responsible Most-Things-Relating-to-Moving Movers, because they also helped me break down and put together my bed and my dresser/mirror combo. Plus they let me ride in the truck with my cat, and thoroughly entertained us both. In case you haven't picked up what I'm putting down, I highly recommend SRM. Use them. They're awesome. read more

After getting quotes from various moving companies, I chose SRM because their prices fit what I desired (clock starts upon arrival and ends upon departure) on top of having a Yelp deal that I used ($20 for $50). They also suggested 3 movers and a 24' truck for my larger one BR, which I thought was most appropriate as I have a LOT of stuff, compared to most other quotes I was getting for either 2 or 3 people with nothing bigger than a 20' truck. Furthermore, I was moving from Danvers to Quincy and was worried about the travel time increasing the cost so I chose SRM who do a fixed travel fee. I didn't personally see them do their thing as I was at work in Boston all day while my parents were at my apt in Danvers guiding the movers - so I can't speak first-hand as to how efficient/awesome they were. However, they started around 12:30pm and ended around 7:30pm, taking an hour break (not charged) for lunch and re-fueling. I arrived in Quincy in the evening just as they finished everything and was pleased to find my belongings arranged and delivered safe and sound. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone from the team of movers who helped us was very pleasant and the team was very courteous to my parents - something that you can't really put a price on. SRM come highly recommended from this first-time user of a moving company. read more

Chris and Aaron are everything their company name says and more - safe, responsible, dependable, and fast! They were pretty busy during the time when I was planning to move (October), getting in contact with them was kind of difficult (nevertheless Chris is super courteous and totally accommodating in email and on phone). I was worried if they'd even come...Alas, I was worrying for nothing! They came on-time, moved things swiftly, took no breaks. My attempt to help was probably more a hindrance than anything useful. They were careful too, brought wrapping tape where needed. The feat that would have taken me 3~5 days by myself, they did it door-to-door in under 4 hours. I was just so thankful they made apartment moving a VIP experience, then they went one step beyond and asked if I wanted to re-arrange any furniture in the new place when they finished with unloading from the truck. On top of this, they were very fair with the charge: it was 3 hours 45 mins total time, so they wanted only 3.75 times the hourly rate..."nope nope not 4 hours, just 3 hours and 45 minutes".....seriously? I paid them almost double in the end just because they were so nice. Cannot say enough good things about them. They were a little late, but I was moving during rush hour on a Tuesday in Boston when it had just snowed - and with the flat fee they charge for travel to/from their warehouse, it didn't matter. I was moving from a 3rd floor studio (no elevator) to a 3rd floor 1 bedroom (no elevator) in a different Boston neighborhood. They got the job done faster than the place I'd hired when I originally moved into the studio (and that was moving from a 1st floor place to another place in the SAME neighborhood). Exactly as described, this is no fluke, a great moving company! I only had a bed, queen-sized mattress + box spring, and a desk to move from a family friend's place out in Wayland. They came on time, moved out quickly, arrived to my estimates ahead of schedule to my Brookline place. The movers were courteous, and quick. They put together my bed in record time (I used a different company last time that took 45 minutes). I would recommend this company again and again if you're doing a small intercity move. Just a note that it's easier to get a hold of them sometimes via phone rather than email because they're sometimes out moving. read more

This was my first and only experience using movers and I couldn't possibly say enough good things about Safe Responsible Movers. I sent in my quote request about a month before my move and heard back the very same day from Chris with the information I was looking for as well as with a slight discount if I was able to do the move not on November 1st but rather a few days earlier. I made my appointment for October 27th at 6pm for two guys to meet at my apartment in Quincy and move me to my new place in Somerville. Around 1 I got a call from Chris asking if I would prefer they come earlier, how much earlier you ask? At 2. Apparently they were WAY ahead of schedule and were able to come whenever I was available. I asked if they could come at 3 and they were there at 3 on the dot. I have a king size bed, large 2 piece sectional sofa, bookshelves, etc. and all of my stuff was out of my 2nd floor apartment and into the truck in just about 30 minutes. We hit the road soon after and got to my 3rd floor place in Somerville where it took less than an hour for the dudes, Mike and Cody, to get all of my stuff into the new place. They even offered to help me with the stuff that I had packed into my own car. With traffic and the time actually moving my stuff in and out of the truck it took just over two hours. This was hands down the best moving experience I'd ever had and I will without a doubt use Chris and his crew for my next move. These guys are some of the nicest and most professional people I've dealt with in any capacity. Use this company, for real, they're awesome. read more

We just had an excellent experience with SRM this weekend. Chris A. gave me a call and talked through the price estimate (which were the best I found) and I loved that they have a flat fee for travel time. He had said to expect 5-6 hours for the job -- and let me know the better we were prepared (packed) the faster it would go. Great incentive for us to be as prepared as possible. The 3 guys showed up (basically) on time to our townhouse - very quickly and efficiently packed everything into the truck, and said they would take some time for lunch which they would not charge us for. Showed up at our new house earlier than expected and did a fantastic job of delivering all of the boxes and furniture items where they needed to go. The three of them had great communication with each other when moving large items and were very careful. I don't think they bumped a single wall. It ended up being 3.5 hours plus the travel time and no other fees - awesome! I would definitely recommend this group for your next move! read more

I've used movers in the Boston area five times in four years - different companies each time because, while most were very good, none left me thinking I shouldn't try another next time. Safe Responsible Movers was the absolute best and finally caused me to stop looking for anyone better! Booking process was easy and friendly. They had my items moved out incredibly quickly - I was still taping my final "I needed these things this AM box" when I realized half of my items had already been loaded on the their truck. Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said. SRM did a great job of moving me and my wife from Belmont to Middleboro on a very hot day. Chris and his team were friendly, hard working (VERY hard working), and went out of their way to be helpful. All our stuff went in the truck in one piece and came out at the other end in one piece. They provided complimentary shoulder rubs to relieve moving day stress and they stayed to cook us dinner and wash our car. Well that bit might not be true, but they did make the moving process much less of an ordeal and the final bill saved us ALOT compared to the next nearest quote we got. Incredible. Not much more I can say about the two guys that came and helped us unload our 26' truck. They were 15 min late, but called well in advance and let us know, def appreciated that. They got everything out in good time and took care of all our stuff. They also helped us rearrange everything several times in the apartment with a smile. Would definitely recommended them to anyone that wants help unloading a truck, and I'll definitely call them if I move again within Boston. Like many other reviewers, I was convinced that most movers were scammers. I had my bad dealings with other movers (see my other reviews). However, we have gone with Safe Responsible Movers twice and would use them again (hopefully not any time in the next ten years, but hey...) They are one of few very responsible and honest movers. 1. They are prompt and communicative If you use their website, Chris Amaral will return your email with estimates and/or questions within a day. They will keep you informed as to their arrival time (e.g., if they are running late due to traffic). 2. Costs are explained up front (usually an hourly rate, and you do have to pay for travel time to and from their office). 3. Very friendly 4. Professional The first time, we were missing an Ikea Billy bookcase (don't know how it became missing) but Chris refunded us for the full cost immediately. The second time we had no hitches. They also had one guy who was training so we were not charged for him. So I tipped them a bit since it was also a tad hot and it was around lunch time so some money and a few pizzas. No damages, nothing broken. Couldn't recommend more highly. read more

We hired SRM to help us move yesterday and they were so amazing, I had to start a yelp account just so I could give them a review. First of all, every single review about these guys is absolutely dead on. I had high expectations and yet, was still in awe of their efficiency and skills in moving and packing all our stuff. I thought I was good with tetris but Cody, Mickey and Mike are MASTERS at what they do. I couldn't believe how well they packed up the truck and how quickly they did it (not to mention how strong they were)! There were moments where my husband and I were just staring at the interior of the truck with our mouths open in awe of their tetris/packing skills. This was our first time using movers so we weren't sure what to expect but the guys are so friendly, polite and easygoing that we were completely comfortable with the entire experience. I expected moving to be extremely stressful but everything went so smoothly that we really enjoyed the whole process. We even had them move stuff into a basement that was currently being renovated and there was not a single scratch or ding in any of the newly painted walls. These guys are my heroes. The guys drove ahead of us to the new place, but somehow I ended up driving behind them and saw an older woman with a cane, waiting to cross the street. We were on a busy street and no cars stopped for her. That is, until Cody stopped the truck and let her cross. Seriously, these guys are so incredibly nice that they even brake for elderly pedestrians - how awesome is that? I recently used safe Responsible Movers to move my one-bedroom apartment in the South End to the North End, and I have to say, they did a great job! I was a little nervous when I hired them because their rates are so much lower than all the other movers I looked at (you get what you pay for and all that) but I saw the other positive reviews on Yelp so I said, Why not? I was definitely not disappointed! Chris and his crew (sorry guys, can't for the life of me remember you names) showed up on time and got straight to work. They lifted my heavy boxes like they were empty, carefully wrapped up my flat screen TV, and even pointed out things that I had forgotten I needed to take. Then even let me (and my cat) ride in the truck with them so I wouldn't have to take a taxi and regaled me with a little bit of North End history on the way! When we got to my new place, they unloaded just as efficiently. The apartment is on the 4th floor and I worried all those stairs, and the twisting, narrow staircase might prove troublesome, but it didn't even slow them down. They brought everything up very quickly, even my heavy pull-out couch, and next thing I knew, we were done! The whole ordeal took only 2 hours from start to finish with three guys and one truck. And I ended up paying less in total than some other moving companies charged per hour! I would definitely recommend these guys! They're awesome! read more

I moved this past weekend and these guys were fantastic! I had a short move - only from the Seaport District to Beacon Hill - but these guys were fast and efficient. I have a 2 BR apartment, and the whole move took less than four hours. The guys are courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. Used these guys back in 2011. Called them up, told them what I had (not a lot, a few big items but most of the stuff had already been moved in advance. I really should've left them with something more to do...read more below) Two guys showed up with their coffee and got straight to work. They moved all the big item out of my apartment and into the truck in about a half an hour. When we showed up at the site, they got everything out in another half an hour, so it was a little more than an hour total of work! I was more than happy to pay the minimum since they took so little time. I should've left some of the boxes there to let them do more work, but they were extremely efficient, very careful, and speedy. They were able to get my big dresser and dining table through an incredibly difficult, narrow and winding staircase up to the third floor. Would definitely use them again. read more

Seriously overdue posting here. I used SRM 3 times in a relatively short period of time almost two years ago. Moving once in a year is bad, but moving three times is torture. Luckily, I stumbled on SRM. Not only did SRM offer the best pricing around, the service was great and each move went off without a hitch. Furniture didn't fit; they took it apart. Doorway too small; they took the door off. Prepared and willing to do whatever was required each step of the way. As if doing their job great wasn't enough, after one move they came back the next day with my checkbook that had fallen out of a drawer I apparently forgot to clean! I've always appreciated SRM's great work and recommended SRM to anyone moving, but after suffering through moving torture with a different company recently (I moved out of state or SRM would have been called), I had the motivation needed to finally create a yelp account! read more

Last week, Safe Responsible Movers moved us. This was the first time I have ever used a mover so I was very nervous. Well, Cody and Mikey and Dave were awesome! They went above and beyond the call of duty. We had to move some of our stuff to one location and the rest in storage, plus take some pieces from where were moving and add that to storage as well. They were organized and quick friendly to boot. The didn't nickel and dime me with charges for plastic wrap and even "donated" a furniture pad to add protection to my flat screen tv that was going into storage because they didn't think it was protected enough (at no charge at all). I just had a fan-friggin-tastic experience with these guys after they came highly recommended from some friends of mine, backed up by these fabulous Yelp reviews. I set everything up via email last week and they arrived promptly this morning and had me moved out of my apt in Waltham and into my new place in the Fens in 2 hours for $270, which was 2 guys and a box truck for the minimum 2 hours + a $90 flat travel fee. They even let me ride in the truck when my ride fell through. Can't recommend them highly enough. read more

Finally! An easy move!! These guys were great and quick. They emptied my whole apartment into their truck in half an hour. No damage and no extra charge for the furniture they wrapped.
