This is the finest coffee I have ever had. Made fresh as you order so it takes a couple minutes to enjoy the best cup of coffee you will ever have. It is with much sadness that I am giving this place only 2 stars now. Most unfortunately, their bespoke espresso machine broke and they replaced it with an Illy machine. I can't tell you what the difference is between the machines or if they changed their beans or roast, but what I can say with complete confidence is that their awesome espresso is now pretty crappy. First, if anyone is smoking outside, the smell seeps into the coffee shop. For the couple of hours that I sat there, it smelled like cigarettes. Safehouse is my favorite place to drink good iced coffee and chill with friends. Safehouse is a very hipster hangout place with a lounge at the top laid out with couches, coffee tables and chairs. The whole setting of the place makes me feel at home. The service there is so welcoming and i couldn't pick a better coffee place then Safehouse . read more

I went back in last week for a latte since my kitchen was deconstructed due to painting. The latte was again really delicious, but would it kill the guy (maybe the manager?) to not be so smug? It's like he was mad I didn't want a big black cup of joe. Sorry I take my cream with a little coffee. I even complimented him by saying that I'd been dying to come back since my last experience, and was literally met with silence. Crickets. What. In. The. World? I've been meaning to add this review for a while and have extra time this morning so here we go. I used to be fairly committed to Starbucks coffee. If it wasn't a Starbucks I didn't get my coffee. Since Starbucks has changed their customer appreciation guidelines ( star system ) I realize that they are just some huge corporate conglomerate that does not care about their customers at all. I now try to give my business to the smaller entrepreneur coffee houses. A tv show I was working on used Safehouse coffee as a product placement company. They are located in downtown griffin in a trendy little spot. The downside to this is the limited parking. Be prepared to walk a block or so if it is during peak times. Their hours are limited so please check before you go. I thought they would be open earlier than they are to accommodate the early morning work crowd. The place is very clean and smells great. Their menu is a bit limited but compared to some of the larger companies but nothing I couldn't work around. The employees were nice and the coffee was good. Great spot to hang out and get some work done if you need to. Give them a try and see what you think. I have been back a few times since my original visit and have been equally as happy. read more

Amazing latte, hands down. I've been wanting to try this place since moving here from Buckhead. Unfortunately the staff is not very friendly or upbeat, and definitely not in any kind of hurry. If you are coming here to study or relax with friends it's a really cool place. If you're in a hurry for a drink on the go like I was today, expect to wait 20 minutes. 20 MINUTES. I overheard the barista say it was busy and that her manager didn't seem to care. I'm sorry but I have been a barista and do not believe three customers is considered a rush. It should only take five minutes at most to pour some espresso and steam some milk. I'll try them out one more time to see if it was just a bad first impression. read more

Seeing how there's not a whole lot in Griffin, this place is pretty good.i think that it succeeds in trying to be original, but I feel as though maybe it tries too hard. The prices are the same as say, Starbucks.The owners/baristas claim that if you put cream and sugar in the coffee that it ruins the coffee...the typical coffee snob attitude, which I think is ridiculous and is the main reason I was turned off by this place, besides the fact that their coffee wasn't awesome. Small local coffee shops are always better than major coffee chains. The time that goes into prepping the coffee definitely shows in the flavor. Whether you're into hot or iced coffee, they've got you covered. The iced mocha latte was perfect. read more

Over a year ago, Safehouse had a fire and burned. They opened up in various locations and did an awesome job. Very soon, they will be opening back up in their original location. These guys know coffee. I think maybe they have some kind of degree in coffee. They certainly have it down to a science. The atmosphere is good, too. It would be a fun place to hang out for a while. They make their own flavored syrups and chai. The baked goods they offered were obviously homemade and very tasty. Live in a loft close to this coffee shop. Not a coffee drinker so have only tried their hot chocolate and vanilla creamer. Great atmosphere and people are super friendly. This is the closest thing to Starbucks you will find in Griffin. The upstairs area has a great seating that is a great place to sit and chat. I've come here a few times with a laptop or book to work and enjoy the setting. From what I've been told, there is a church that meets there and the business is owned by the members. read more

Not a bad place to go for being 2 blocks from my downtown apartment. The atmosphere is nice and modern, but I feel like it's run by a bunch of wanna-be coffee snob hipster kids which makes for an awkward exchange for my husband and I; I will say, they know their stuff though. This is the best coffee I've found on the south side of Atlanta. It's right on the square in Griffin. Nice workers and very peaceful. You can sit outside, feel the breeze, look at the trees, think, and get your work done. They even have caramel to put in your cappuccino. Definitely check this place out. OMG! Yesterday I met my friend in Griffin for coffee. The staff and atmosphere were welcoming. However, their latte coffee was luke warm. I mentioned this to them and the young barista said, "we brew our coffee in the real Italian way and that's Luke warm, not boiling like in America!" I teplied, "I call bullxxxx on that, I'm in Europe weekly and the coffee is not served lukewarm!" He gracefully back pedaled (but did not offer any sort of apology) I then ordered a drip coffee; again barely warm. The process they use to brew the individual coffees causes the water to cool as it drips into the carafe below, the carafes are not warmed, nor on any sort of heating element. Coffee is best brewed between 195-205 degrees, almost boiling, which releases flavors. read more

The entirety of Safehouse is wonderful. The shop itself gives you a feeling of comfort and warmth! Such a great place to study or just enjoy a nice hot latte with a friend. The stuff is incredibly sweet and patient. They answer any questions about the drinks very specifically and will even suggest their favorites if you need help :). I've been a regular there for many years now and i wouldn't want to get my coffee and great company anywhere else. Their menu consists of many different Espresso beverages, several types of coffee, and a variety of teas. Iced Lattes are my favorite! Highly suggest coming here if you need a quiet place to hang out. read more

I kind of miss their old location (prior to it burning down) There was a little bit more of a good "coffee shop ambiance" but hey, it is still better than the utilitarian, corporate-driven feeling of a Starbucks. I also miss the artwork...I remember at their old location I got to see some really cool artwork, one of them was a three-dimensional standalone mixed media piece featuring three old analog television sets painted pink with "faces" on them. (If this is your artwork and you are reading this, I loved it! Did you sell it?) Seems they haven't changed their artwork in years and I have been looking at the same abstract art pieces every time I go in there. Jacob, and whoever works there now, could you really change the art displays a little more? I'm not trying to go on a smear campaign or anything but I offered the staff some of my artwork to display (jpegs of it) and my offer got turned down!! I had my work displayed in two other coffee shops in the past with no static from the staff whatsoever (it is only for a month, and then someone else's art gets a turn.) Seems clique-ish, methinks. OK, now on to the coffee...Yes, they do stand behind their brand and I understand you can buy the grounds online, too. I don't know why but one of my drinks did not seem hot enough. Lukewarm, even. Asked someone there to reheat it a little. But it is clean, and neat, the orchids are a nice touch. So that is the good and the bad, in my own words. read more
