I enrolled in the US federal government's Lifeline telephone program through Safelink several years ago. While the phone and text services were OK, when my cellphone stopped functioning, and a Safelink remote fix failed, Safelink told me, "All you need to do is buy a phone, and we'll put your phone number on it." Right. I told them, "This is a phone that is free of charge via the federal government's Lifeline program. I can't afford to purchase a new phone." Safelink told me the warranty on the phone I possessed was no longer viable. I contacted the FCC, the FCC contacted Safelink, and Safelink recontacted me (after three weeks) to give me the same answer as before. Finally, after further FCC intervention, Safelink finally deigned to send me a replacement cellphone. That was after I had gone ahead and made a contract with another, more reputable, provider. Clearly, Safelink needs to clear the bugs out of its participatory role in free telephone services provided in partnership with the US government. read more

I am a database developer and have been in the IT industry for 30+ years. I have seen ISPs come and go and some that succeeded. Safelink you need to GO. Poorest excuse for internet service I have ever encountered. Trust me, I have encountered a few. Slow speeds, VERY slow tech support if they have to do anything on-site you will wait for days. Since June 7, 2021 service intermittently drops several times between the hours of 8:30pm and about 11:00pm EVERY NIGHT. Today is July 4th, 2021 and it is still happening. The past 2 months that I am aware between the hours of 12:am and 1:30am the bandwidth is throttled to 50%. I am tracking and logging the drops, the throttledoewns and other metrics. read more

We live in Hailey and on top of a mountain with line of site to Rotarun. I started with Safelink way back maybe 7 years ago and switched to Hughesnet satillite internet for a brief while. Oh my but no one warned me about satillite internet but I soon found out. Stayed with them for some of the worst internet years of my life. Then went looking when I could not take anymore and came back to Safelink! Boom! What a great provider. Totally changed from my original experience with them. We still live on the mountaintop but I just cannot say enough good things about Safelink. (Shhhh, I don't want to jinx my service). They are invisible which is what a good ISP should be. Very fast internet even streaming with Netflix, Prime and Youtube TV. No dropped anything. No buffering and no threats of increased pricing or data limits. Their people are totally cool but I NEVER have to call them. Pay my bill on their site each month and truly what more can I say? Their trucks and trailer in the culdesac down the hill are there constantly as they upgrade towers hardware. I would let them park in my driveway they are so cool. Nobody paid or contacted me to say this BTW. I just believe in them kinda like Verizon! You guys deserve far more credit on this YELP than you are getting and I want to stand up and let the public know how cool you are. read more

I live where there is only Safelink. That said I have lived where we had COX and other providers. Safelink has had issue in the past. They are using new tech to get internet where it hasn't been before. From a services side it is fast and mostly stable. In comparison to cox and others they are a equal in reliability. Good prices for the speed. Great customer service! They have invested a lot into customer service and it shows. I am very happy. read more

They are rude, they don't call you back, service calls are two weeks out and they don't care if you don't have Internet while you wait. Their internet is not as advertised. Great if you just want to email. Trying to stream Netflix, Amazon, or whatever during primetime is impossible. I am paying for their 10gig plan, $80 a month, and the only time I see anything close to 10 G is early AM. During primetime I am lucky to get 2 G. Really frustrating that they don't have a pipe big enough to handle the users they sign up for "Fast wireless Internet right where you need it!" I am so frustrated that I finally broke down and ordered Dish so I can watch the few shows we enjoy, the ones we tried to stream on Safelink. I am going to drop my plan to the 2G plan as that is all I can get anyway and use it just for browsing and surfing. Then when Cable One or CenturyLink pulls a line into our neighborhood I will switch day one. Bottom line, way over priced for what you get and what you get is not what they advertise and you pay for. read more

Unreliable service and mega slow speeds. Tech support laughs when I tell them what speed I expect and that's after a 30-45 minute wait on hold. They came out to "upgrade" my equipment and I was out of service for a week. Only order if want overpriced, under service, and want to remember what it was like to have dial up! read more

Don't do it! They charge you $199 install fee (cable one $50), but they waive it if you sign a 2 year contract (so does cable one). I cancelled with safe link after 2 weeks of slow internet speeds and lo and behold, I was slapped with that $199 fee that they supposedly waived. Safelink internet told me they are a tier 1 provider which they don't service what they sell. I live in Hailey and they don't travel beyond Burley to service anything. I've been a customer of them for nearly three years and not once did they show up. My install was installed by a new employee and it was his first install. Had to repair it myself online and walked me through the complete setup. it took two weeks to complete. They now have lowered what they provide for 70 dollars a month. Download speeds are in the kbs not m. I just spoke with customer service again yesterday and they told me the only thing they can do is have you plug an ethernet line and read back to them the download speeds.. read more

Only use if you have no other options. Working with Safelink has been nothing short of a nightmare. We moved to our new house a few months ago, and Safelink is the only provider with service in our area. The service has been extremely slow and patchy. When I've called tech support, the shortest amount of time I've waited is 45 minutes. I'm always told "someone will call me by the end of the day," but this has not happened once (and I've been told this no fewer than 5 times). They refuse to give out direct phone numbers or email addresses, so your only option is to call - and wait - and be told you be called....repeat ad nauseam. When a technician did come out, he told me it was his first day (and we were his very first house). Although he was pleasant and worked hard, he wasn't able to solve our problems due to his inexperience; in fact, it's been much worse since he left. I believe the only reason this company is in business is because they serve people who have no alternatives. This company makes CenturyLink look like a dream - and I NEVER thought I'd say that. I look forward to the day their horrific business practices catch up to them - and shut them down. Karma will not be kind to you, Safelink. read more

We subscribed to Safelink 9/29/2015, on 4/4/2016 our service went down and we are still without service 1 month later. Although the tech support has been courteous as has the office manager, the response is always the same "we are working on it." The service is NOT satisfactory in any way and we do NOT recommend this company as an internet provider. At this point, if there were an option of NO stars that would be the choice! read more

I would give zero stars but do not the option we had no internet for two weeks we did there job for hours with them on are computer could not fix. said they would send a technician out but we would have to pay. the technicin canceled. so we moved to another provider call the same day and cancelled and set a text to tmem and they billed for the next month 55.25 remember the internet had not worked for about 2 months. called and they said i had not told then to stop the service right. it is the worst service i have ever had and i feel they are thieves i have reported them to my bank for fraud for unauthorized use of my card and will contact the police on monday. don't use these people they are the worst i have seen in years, go with anyone else. even the worst of the rest is better then safe link. read more

I have had so many issues with Safelink. They kept telling me every time I called they had no record of my call! When I asked them to cancel, they transfer me to accounting and no one answers, so left a message multiple times with no call back. I have filed complaints with the BBB and the Attorney Generals Office. They never ever responded to the Attorney General. They have now taken me to collections for the bill I refuse to pay because I had no service. Even thoe every month they send you a "USAGE" report showing I used NOTHING!!! iF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THEM, PLEASE CONTACT IDAHO ATTORNEY GENERAL. THE MORE COMPLAINTS THEY HAVE THE MORE THEY ARE WILLING TO HAVE A CASE AGAINST THEM. read more

Safelink is by far the worst internet provider I have ever had. I had their service from May 18 until July 19. The service didn't work for the first month I had it, and I was consistently on the phone with their tech support and billing department. After they had a technician come out, it worked until saturation caught up and killed my connection EVERY DAY. I finally cancelled services, still being required to pay the installation fee, and was then told I had to pay to mail my PoE back since they have no idea when someone would be at my house to remove the dish. I NEVER received the services they advertised and their customer service is completely useless. read more

Terrible company that is scamming their customers in my opinion. The install tech we had was terrible, very rude, and not very knowledgeable. He also drilled useless holes into our house and placed the dish in a terrible location. They sell packages based on speed but it does not matter what package you have -- the speed is based on who else is online. I toyed with a few different packages when with them and figured this out quick. Would NOT recommend, there are much better providers even if their service is not unlimited. read more

I have had the most awful experience with Safelink. Their internet service is horrible and customer service is even worse. Our internet has been spotty since we started with them and came to the point where it was down weekly it was just unacceptable. I had auto billing and it started on the 10th which was a Sunday. My internet was down because of them, so I couldn't email until Monday the 11th. They were not going to be able to come out to our house for 3 weeks!!! So, I put in the request to cancel service. It was cancelled, but they would not refund the month ahead which the auto payment went through on. After multiple emails and phone calls over 6 weeks, I finally got through to the awful billing manager Nelly...who just kept claiming I could not have a refund because I would have had to email on the Sunday and I never gave them the opportunity to come out and correct the problem in 3 weeks....and the 3 weeks could have possibly been improved on...seriously???? I just couldn't even believe this. She kept saying the same lines over and over. I don't know how businesses and people sleep at night treating people like this. Thanks for letting me vent and stay away from Safelink!! We have switched to Filer Mutual and couldn't be happier. read more
