Our recent experience with Safelite in Appleton, WI was extremely disappointing and has led us to stop recommending their services. After our windshield replacement, a technician ran out with a trim piece he believed may have been forgotten. Before we even left the parking lot, our van began beeping with a warning light. Staff initially dismissed it as a door issue, we checked the doors and I was told to drive around awhile to see if would stop, after returning, it turned out the hood had been left open. At home, we discovered a trim piece that wasn't adhered properly. During our two‑week trip, during the first rain after the repair, the wipers struck each other. We had to pull over and purchase a tool in order to adjust them. The windshield then leaked inside near the rearview mirror--issues that should never occur after a professional installation. Safelite did schedule a warranty appointment quickly when we returned this time at the Green Bay WI location, but the same trim piece lifted again shortly afterward, and today after the first rain found that the the wipers were never replaced despite being told they would be. When we asked for mobile service or even mailed wipers, we were told neither was possible and that we would need to drive back in again. We do live in a location that they can come out to for service and since we already made 2 trips for the repair we declined and my husband will purchase and replace the wipers, and put some adhesive on the trim piece. Given the repeated mistakes, inconvenience, and lack of follow‑through, we cannot recommend Safelite and will advise customers of our mechanic shop accordingly. read more

Scheduled the appointment online, got a confirmation pretty much every day, had the tech call me the DAY of the appointment to confirm. An hour after he was scheduled to be there, I get a text message...NOT a call from the technician, stating that the appointment had been rescheduled for two days later! To confirm the text, I called the number given and had a circle jerk with the automated attendant. When I finally got through to a real person, they couldn't give me an answer as to why the appointment had been changed. Obviously I canceled the appointment! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!! read more

I scheduled a windshield replacement online to be performed at my home after receiving my insurance claim number. I received a confirmation email stating a field tech from the Appleton location would be arriving between the hours of 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday. I received 5 different emails informing me I was on the schedule during the week leading up to the scheduled appointment including one 3 hours before my scheduled appointment on Saturday morning. On the day of the appointment I received a phone call from a different Safelite location(Green Bay) informing me my appt. was being cancelled due to a service tech calling in sick. This happened 1-1/2 hours into my scheduled 5 hour window between noon and 5:00p.m. that Saturday. I was then informed I could just drop my vehicle off on Monday at the Appleton location and return to pick it up when finished, which was not an option. I am a Field Service Tech and this replacement was scheduled on my service vehicle. I had to take PTO and rescheduled an appointment for 4 days later at the Appleton facility. The service I received there was great. The gentleman I interacted with was apologetic about the whole rescheduling of my appt. Had I not had PTO for the week of this appointment I would not have had the ability to reschedule this appointment for quite sometime. I am in the business of field service. This is not how this is supposed to work! The short notice cancellation was very unproffesional! Again this is no reflection of the service I received at the facility in Appleton, that was great. read more

UPDATE: Finally done!! Back order on parts, so not their fault whatsoever. Tim Ritchie the Service Center Manager from Fond du Lac (coming up to Appleton to help the store) took 100% control over the never-ending issues and finally got it done right for me. I can't be more thankful. Huge thanks to Tim for following through and putting hands on to get it done right and once and for all. The 5 star rating is just for Tim Ritchie only not for the overall experience. Obviously that was a one star. read more

Been there twice for windshield replacement. First time they messed it up by realigning it wrong and broke part of my car. Had to go back three times before it was fixed. Second time, I dropped my car off at 9:30 and was told the latest it would be was 4. Around 3:45 I had to call twice before someone answered. They said it was being brought back. At least 4:20 I received a call saying they couldn't do it today since they didn't have enough time. I do not recommend going there. They didn't seem like they cared nor apologetic both times. read more

They trashed the inside of my car, couldn't replace the wiper blades (which damaged the new glass ) and they changed the appointment time on me, which resulted in me needing to scramble to make alternative ride arrangements. Overall I can not recommend this company or this location. Go ANYWHERE else. Try your dealership first. read more

Chip repair service was good and exactly as explained by the technician. I decided a few days later to replace the windshield because the chip was so large that the repair left some cracks. I knew this going in so I tried it. Since then, I followed the instructions and contacted customer care at Safelite to request the replacement and have not heard back in over 3 weeks. read more

They couldn't remove my wipers to get to the windshield, so I had to go to the dealership. They gave me the impression that they would work with the dealership to replace the windshield at the same time, but when I called they were dismissive and said they couldn't accommodate a request that quickly. I had a car without wipers for a few days and the morning of my next appointment Safelite called and said that my glass had been damaged and they wouldn't be able to make it out that day. My car sat without wipers for another day until a tech came out to replace the windshield. The wipers were poorly installed and I had to go back to the dealership to have then readjusted. They did provide free wipers after the glass was damaged, but overall it was a complicated and time-consuming process requiring time and money to have the dealership assist. read more

Wow! Reading through all the negative remarks about the Appleton location prior to my windshield replacement would've made me very nervous about getting the work done on my 2019 Subaru Forester. I needed the replacement since I had gotten a crack covering 1/2 of the glass. No Subaru dealership had one and those expected for delivery were not expected for another 2-3 months! Appleton's Safelite had one IN STOCK! The work was completed in 4 hours and, of course, included recalibration of the "eyesight" technology. The staff worked with my insurance company and the cost to me was just $450. I highly recommend this company!! read more

My WRX had the back glass broken out last year. This is my summer driving car because I live in the north and don't want salt damage. I made a claim with progressive who directed me to safelite in Appleton. I vacuumed as much of the broken glass as I could without removing what was left in window. It took them a full day to replace when I was told it should only take a couple of hours. As I drove the car back to Oshkosk I noticed glass all over the back of my car. The car was put in garage for winter and I vacuumed out pieces that safelite didn't care about. I pulled the car out at the beginning of march to start driving. Anytime I get over 40 MPH a loud hum comes from the back glass. After looking it seems like it was not properly sealed. I have called customer warranty twice only to be disconnected by the automated system. I have also sent two emails with no response. I do not know if this a location issue or a company wide issue but feel the company as a whole should take pride in work. I took my car to the Fond Du Lac location for repair. Brandon and Kyle were both very polite and showed extremely great talent at their glass skills. They visually showed me the issues that I had expressed I heard while driving. The whole process was only 30 minutes and the quality was great. Thank you Brandon and Kyle for treating my car as if it was your own. Great job Fond Du Lac location!! read more

I chose Safelite because this is the company my insurance users. Scheduling a day and time was easy. Nice that they come to you. My windshield was replaced, but unfortunately this came with $1300.00 in damage to my vehicle. The wires to my remote starter were cut and duct taped back together (did you think I wouldn't notice my starter wasn't working?), interior damage to areas around windshield, and amazingly enough, when I had the estimate for the other damage, the dealership said the windshield wasn't replaced correctly either. Still working on getting the vehicle fixed and paid for. We'll see if they can right the wrongs.. read more

The install tech was great!! The scheduling on the other hand was horrible. I called to schedule the appt, They called me the morning of the repair, and stated that the windshield couldn't be repaired due to the size of the damage. So we scheduled for the next week to replace, now I had to leave work early, and the tech shows up to repair it? Then I'm told that they can't repair. "I already knew that" so now we had to reschedule again. Missed some more work time. It was extremely cold out, so I had the Truck in my heated shop. The windshield got replaced and the Tech was great. I got an email to comment about my experience, which I did, and they mentioned that "It appears that you are unhappy with your experience, we will have a rep contact you" That was 3 weeks ago. If I could give less than 1 star I would. The appleton wi location is useles and charged my insurance company 1200 for windshield replacement and it took them 2 days. In the end they COULD NOT CALIBRATE THE CAMERA and the car is going to Tri-Cory Glass for a redo. They will use the correct windshield and not an aftermarket one and get the job done correctly. I could go on but my advise would be to stay away from Safelite if you have anything more than just a basic windshield replacement or repair. read more

My truck was hit be debris on the highway which created a small star crack. I went to the shop to have it inspected and they said they could repair it and immediately made an appointment for two days later. Came back for my appointment and the said my appointment was not valid, but shuffled things around and fit me in later. During the repair they further cracked my glass and said it now had to be replaced, at my own expense. They said the assured me while making my appointment that this could happen during the repair which was further from the truth and then proceeded to argue with me about it. So much for the customer is always right. The replacement had to be done the following week. Which it went quick and this person was a bit more personable. The only complaint was they cut my plastic trim near the windshield, and the rubber trim on the outside near good does not sure tight against glass. read more

I had a quarter-sized star-shaped chip in my windshield from a rock and my insurance company sent me to SafeLite. I went there on 12/03/19 to have it repaired and I am disappointed because it is still very noticeable, a potential safety risk due to impaired vision, and will affect the resale value of my truck. read more

I called because I hit a Turkey and it cracked my glass. Very nicely arranged and professional, except due to the rust around my windshield, I needed to take it to a body shop to have that fixed, then they would install the glass. Once again nicely set up and executed, save one thing, and that is that the rubber seal around my window has a spot that was dinged up from removal or installation of the windshield. I would also have liked my state park sticker removed so I could use it a couple more times camping. (that may be my fault - but I think a really alert installer would think, "I wonder if they want their state park sticker?" and call me. On the whole they were great, as they had to come out quite a ways to do the repair and everyone at the office wand the installer were very nice on the phone. Would have been 5 stars without the gasket/windshield seal damage. read more

Super technician named Adam! The manager called the next day after service to ask how it went. I was so glad to be able to tell him about Adam. Since they had gotten payment over the phone they could just go to our local car mechanic's garage and do the work while it was there getting other service work done. I had no other car and so it was super nice of them to arrange. The price seemed pretty good too. It's much less to do this work than it was the last time we had it done. Adam even dropped the old glass off at my house on his way back to the shop. Plus he was super quiet as I had all 5 of my Grandchildren sleeping! read more

I went to this Safelite location a few months ago and was surprised with the service I received. The gentleman working at the front desk greeted me with a smile, offered coffee with many different flavor options, and quickly took my car back. My insurance company was billed with no problems. In about 30 minutes, the chip in my windshield was fixed, he and the technician cleaned all of my windows, and I was on my way. This friendly service is on a level that I have rarely experienced and really made my day. Give these guys a chance. I promise you will be pleased. read more

My insurance company sent me there to replace the rear window on my car. At the time, everything seemed fine but since it was May problems weren't going to show up until the winter. Over the winter, the defroster stopped working. Thinking it was a mechanical problem, I took the car to the garage. They discovered the connection to the window had melted and chipped the window. When I brought the car to Safelight to show them the damage and get it fixed. They blew me off. They blamed the wiring in the car and tried to sell me a new window. When a connection melts, its a faulty CONNECTION, not faulty wiring. They didn't even have the courtesy to look me up in the computer. Go to Tri - City Glass for better service and a company that stands behind their work. They helped me fix the defroster, though I have to live with that chip in the window knowing the window is weak at that point. If the window breaks because of it, I know where I will NOT go to fix it. read more

I would be getting pictures and a call from manager later that evening, never happened!!! 6 days later I ended up calling them to get the information to take back to insurance to get covered. I brought my car into the shop for repair on a small chip in my windshield. I had attempted to repair the window myself and was unsuccessful, so I thought that I had to replace the entire window instead of just the repair. I went into the shop about 30 minutes early and they were able to take care of my car right away. After I explained the situation and that I had tried to repair it myself, the technician that checked me into my appointment asked if he could look at my car to see if I needed the window replacement. He looked at the crack and told me that they could repair it instead of replacing the entire windshield. I gratefully accepted as that dropped my cost down from $350 to around $100. They were friendly and kind throughout my process, provided me with warranty information and also vacuumed my car. I was not expecting such service, however I am happy and I would recommend using the Appleton Location for Safelite because of their customer service. read more
