I didn't have any issues so I'm surprised that they only have 3 stars. Outside of the old we will be there between 8-1 no complaints. I had ignored a ding and ugh oh it was trying to spread. Setup my appt online which was easy. The tech actually came around 9...... yippee. He explained that the spread could be problematic on a small scale..... it wasn't and he fixed in fairly quickly. He was pleasant..... think his name was Jeff. Having them come to your home is huge and we use text while he worked in my ding just in case he had any questions. Hope I won't need them again anytime soon but if I do.....I wouldn't hesitate. read more

the absolute WORST safelight experience of my life! made an appointment for at home service that was delayed twice for a total delay, so far, of 3 weeks. i'm still waiting, with conflicting excuses coming from the company office and technicians that range from "waiting for parts" to "we can't find your windshield and we don't know why." i would not recommend doing any business with this company/location, until it gets its internal logistics, scheduling, supervision, and customer service functions coordinated. i've been frustrated and personally & professionally inconvenienced enough by this company (the windshield damage is too extensive to make my vehicle safe to drive), will advise my insurance company USAA of the incompetence i've encountered, and will look to another franchise, should any future windshield replacement be needed. read more

Technician ripped the headliner in my truck and while Safelite was quick to admit it was their fault they are not resolving the issue. I have spent weeks trying to get them to pay for the repairs. We had a pretty bad chip and a crack in our windshield from a rock on 95. Our insurance company sent Safelite out. The tech was very nice and seemed professional. I watched him from the front window replacing it because it was interesting, right up to the point that he got into my car for the recalibration process and he blew a big puff of vape smoke out the window. We aren't smokers but I let that go and didn't say anything about it. A few hours later my husband and I drove to dinner and on the way home, I looked up to see that our headliner had been destroyed. The edges of it had been cut and were frayed. I immediately called and they are ordering a new headliner and they are going to replace it. These folks were "by the book"................on time, accurate, and professional. I'm 66 and have dealt with a number of windshields in my day, but these folks were just plain old fashioned kind, considerate, and caring. This company cancelled on me twice. First off, they couldn't do my windshield for two weeks, then, the day they were due to be here, they cancelled, telling me their driver had been in a car accident, which I felt terrible about. We rescheduled for the following week. At the time they were due to be here, they called telling me they didn't have my windshield in stock and couldn't get it. Did they know they didn't have it a week ago?? When I called another company to do the work, I told them my story. They said that they could get my windshield and that both companies get them from the same place. Apparently safelight is so busy they just didn't want my business. After about six postponements to have a windshield replaced, each time they company called me or texted me to tell me they either ordered the wrong windshiield or the windshield did not come in. After many frustrating exchanges I call the business to enquirer if they had gotten the windshield I was told the windshield came in and was there. I asked why they couldn't come and do the job instead of me waiting nine more days and she tells me that they only do replacements by appointment and I don't have an appointment until that date. Because I have been waiting seven weeks doesn't give me any priority. I sent a letter to the home office and was told they have problems getting supplies. Nothing at all mentioned about the incompetence of not checking to see if the equipment came in until the day before or the day of service. If the management is this bad, I know I better have the work checked by a dealershi. I understand the problem getting supplies but I dont understand waiting until the last minute to see if 5hey are on hand. That is incompetent management and the corporation tolerates this. read more

This location has been a disaster from the beginning. Had my windshield replaced in Dec 21. Exactly 1 year later it began to leak on the inside when defrosting. Submitted for a warranty replacement. Had 2nd windshield installed but improperly causing an extensive leak inside my vehicle. Took the car back and it was air tested only to discover that there was a 4inch gap at the top of the glass that wasn't properly glued. They placed a plastic wrap on it and ordered me a 3rd windshield. At this point I wanted an alternative option. Called my insurance company who was actually able to get customer service on the phone. They authorize me to take my car to the dealer to have the windshield replaced. Dealer won't release the car without payment and Safelite said it could take a few weeks for them to pay. So now I have a leaking windshield, no options for replacement, and zero accountability. I would never recommend this location. The counter guy even told me when I was there last time that I was the 4th warranty in a week due to improper gluing. Do yourself and you car a favor and use a small business/local gut and avoid Safelite at all costs. In a word, "How?" ... just HOW does a company like this endure? Saying Safelite is unreliable is putting it mildly. My vehicle failed inspection due to a crack in the windshield, I scheduled the windshield installation w Safelite before leaving the inspection shop. We have had multiple appointments, all of which the techs have canceled for various reasons. When they do come out, they either have the wrong windshield entirely, or make up some silly excuse on the fly that could easily be resolved and the work still done. but of course you only find out the job wasn't done after the tech leaves since their entire shtick is that they will come out to your location and you quote: don't even have to be home. That sounds convenient but really it's just a loophole for them to not do the work and to reschedule you for days or even a week out from the time you were counting on them. I'm running outta fingers on this hand to count their excuses and rescheduling delays. Meanwhile, the end of my 15 day grace period for failed inspection is fast approaching. Currently, after all the cancellations, I am scheduled for Monday morning in shop. Depending on how that goes I will report back. read more

I made an appointment for them to come to my house by phone to recalibrate my lane sensors that they failed to calibrate properly when they replaced my windshield. By the way, they lost/forgot to order the windshield for that repair causing them to be late too. While on the phone they verified my address and that they were coming to me. They even went as far as asking me if I had a garage or covered area for them to work in case it rains. After they were 10 minutes past the time they should have been here by I called and they said that I had an in shop appointment. I explained to them that I made the appointment with a representative who verified it was a mobile appointment and they even went as far as verifying that I had a garage. They had no explanation and after missing a half day of work waiting on them, they refused to come out today, refused to fit me in tomorrow and told me that I would either have to waste another half day and gas to go to them tomorrow or miss another half day of work on Monday for them to supposedly come out to my house and repair their initial mistakes. Further, they were unapologetic for not doing the repairs properly the first time or creating my appointment incorrectly and don't care about the financial loss or inconvenience caused by their utter incompetence. read more

My windshield was broken by gravel flying off a dump truck and Geico directed me to Safelite in Fredericksburg, VA. The shop manager was friendly, and quick getting my car in at the appointed time, the install was relatively quick and efficient. The windshield does not leak, at least in the first rainstorm we drove through a week after install. Unfortunately, the techs scratched the dash of our 2020 RAV 4 Limited with the vacuum hose tip when cleaning up the car. The material in the RAV is notoriously soft and there are many comments on the internet about even microfiber cloths scratching it. The manager offered to cover replacement, provided I get an invoice, but we have decided the pain is not worth the effort. The camera system was properly calibrated, and the safety systems all work. Decent job, but a bit more attention to detail during clean up would make this shop perfect. read more

My windshield repair was rescheduled 4 times. Each time was a different reason and on one scheduled repair appointment I never even heard from them. I had to call them the next day to find out what happen. If you are in a hurry or at least want consistency and for them to show up when they say they will...don't use them. Call someone else. I hired Safelite to fix a quarter size chip on my windshield through my insurance. The lady that came to my house for the repair was clueless, I don't know how this woman passed their training course. She fiddled around with the machine 3 times, cleaned up, and proceeded to leave. I told her that I can still see the chip like nothing was done to it. She told me that this type of damage is hard to repair, and it's normal to see the chip like that. I called Safelite, and requested another technician to come out and check her work. They promised they will do that, however the same lady texted me that she's on her way. I canceled on her, and drove the car to a different Safelite location to repair it. This time, a different technician was able to repair the chip, and I can hardly see it now. We made a reservation to get our windshield replaced. We could not get an appointment except for three weeks out. When we scheduled it showed that the windshield was in stock. Two days before our scheduled appointment we received a call stating that they had not received the windshield and they rescheduled out another two weeks. Again two days before the scheduled appointment they called and said that they received the wrong windshield and rescheduled us out another ten days. Two days before our scheduled appointment we received a call stating our windshield was ready to install. We arrived at our appointed time, checked in and waited for about an hour only to be told that they ordered the wrong windshield. I complained that we had been strung along and asked them to, please give us a realistic eta for the proper windshield. The kid at the counter said they'd have it Monday (our appointment was Thursday) and that the manager was going to discount the price for our trouble (no mention of how much). Monday came and we were called and told that the windshield was going to arrive late and that the only appointment they had was six weeks out. No attempt to accommodate us and no apology, and the discount promised was withdrawn. If we had followed through with the appointment six weeks out it would have been three months since we placed the initial order. Absolutely, one of the worst automotive service experiences I've ever experienced. No apologies and in the end was told take it or leave it. Subsequently, called VW to get a windshield and they referred us to Glass-America. Can't say enough about Glass-America they came to us two days later and installed the windshield in our driveway (Safelite wanted an extra $250 for that service), and was nearly $100 less than Safelite. Some Background: I had previously taken my car to two other places to find why I was getting so much water in my floorboards. After the dealership had charged me an exorbitant amount of $$$ to clean my sunroof vents, I was still having issues. I wanted Safelite to double-check their seals from a windshield change 2 years ago. Ernie rolled up right on time, checked the seals, which were all fine, and then proceeded to take a line and fish out the vents for me...which as we poured water over them, were not cleaned out by the dealership. Says he handles these all day long. I can't thank Ernie enough for his professionalism, and for making my water leak issues go away when no one else could. I can't say that my entire experience was pleasant. It started with receiving 12 emails in three days, the last of which arrived approximately 90 minutes before my appointment time and informed me that I would not be able to wait for my vehicle and that Safelite would have it the entire day. When I made my appointment online, the website stated I could wait for my vehicle and it would take 30 to 45 minutes for the repair. So I had to call customer service to verify the email because I would need to find a different way to repair my windshield if the email statements were true. The customer service agent said the email statements were untrue and I would be fine to wait as it should not take more than 45 minutes. When I arrived at Safelite the staff were courteous and the man in the office area stated he would get me a better price than what I was quoted online. He didn't tell me how but I was pleased at that point. The repair didn't take long but when the repair person brought me my bill, I was charged for windshield wiper blades that I had already declined when I made my appointment. The total was less than the original quote but I hadn't been told why any of these things had occurred. When I asked for an explanation of why I was charged $60 for wiper blades I had previously declined, instead of a rational and kind explanation I received attitude and threats. Instead of them giving me the wiper blades, my brand new blades were trashed and replaced. Within two weeks of the change, I have poor performing wiper blades on my vehicle and the money I saved on the repair will now be spent on new wiper blades. Three sets in less than one month has to be a record. And I didn't save a dime off the original quote...I was just threatened as an added bonus. And in case you are wondering, the absolute cheapest wiper blades you can find at Walmart perform better than the $30 (each) Safelite wiper blades. I am thoroughly disgusted. read more

I had a very positive experience with Safelite in Fredericksburg. While driving in I-95, a stone hit my windshield which caused a chip in the glass. Fortunately my insurance provider (Geico) works directly with Safelite and was able to schedule my appointment and payment on my behalf. Upon entering the business, a service adviser quickly greeted me, checked my service request and began working on my car. He did explain what repairing a window chip entailed and also advised me that it's always a possibility that repairing the chip could cause it to spread more. The waiting room had free bottled water, coffee, limited snacks, a TV, and comfortable chairs. The staff worked efficiently to repair the windshield chip and then got me on my way. I have replaced many windshields during my commutes to Sterling everyday. This time it was my daughter's jeep and it had a tiny little crack. I thought instead of using my insurance yet again we could have them come to the house and I would pay out of pocket.. I've been through this so many times I knew it was just going to go right across the windshield the first time the defrost gets turned on..so I thought to try the quick fix. I was nervous. It was mid November and it was so cold. I was crossing my fingers it would hold. .. Well, we've had a lot of snow and ice since then and that crack hasn't gotten any bigger! Ice scrapers, defrost, and all. I definitely got my money's worth. We made it! The vehicle inspection fell within that time period too so I feel we dodged a bullet there. Took my car in to get the windshield fixed and during installment these idiots broke the glass. Gave me a warranty and was giving a 2 appointments and they didn't call me until opening that the window wasn't here AGAIN!!! Plus the appointment was a drop off at 7am!! The second problem they told me to pay $1200 and my deductible was only $200 it took 3 guys to 1 computer to try to figure things out and told me to pay $200 and don't worry about the rest they will take care of it with the insurance company!!!! I scheduled an appointment and the car was in the garage pretty quickly after arrival. I had prepaid so it was also super quick after completion. I took my car there rather than having them come to me, since it save about $40 bucks. The only weird thing was they have a large viewing window from waiting room into the garage. I was standing there watching, curious how they removed the windshield. An employee saw me watching, walked across the garage and into the waiting room and asked if he could help me. I said I was just curious and watching. He said nothing and slowly walked back into garage. He was obviously not comfortable with me watching but I couldn't help but think, why then do you have a large viewing window?? A bit odd. read more

I had my windshield replaced on 12/23/2021. I was given a 4 hour window between 8 am and 12 pm. The tech showed up at 1:30 pm. On 12/30/21 while driving home the window gasket came out on the driver's side. They were closed for the holiday and apparently there s no emergency service, ergo I have no transportation until Monday 01/03 at the earliest. Attempts to contact Safelite were futile. They replaced it but couldn't recalibrate the cameras on the windshield which caused the lights on my dashboard to go berserk. Then I found out from a source that Safelite has a hard time recalibrating cameras on the Acura MDX windshield. Now, I'm going to have to spend more money to have Acura recalibrate them. What a waste of time. The only reason I took it to Safelite is because that's who my insurance referred me to. I got a huge crack in my windshield which required replacement. The tech showed up when he was supposed t, was very pleasant, explained the process and completed it in a timely manner. Because my SUV has several advanced features (lane keeping, self parking, adaptive cruise control, etc) it required recalibration after the new windshield was installed. This was completed and all features are working properly. I was serviced by the location in Fredericksburg but they came to my house. I highly recommend them. read more

Not cheap, but I wasn't expecting replacing a windshield on a 2010 Corolla to be inexpensive. It came in at $477. They did the work as scheduled and were done in about an hour or so. I thought that I'd be there waiting for a couple of hours. Wish that I knew that a smaller windshield crack could have been repaired instead of waiting until the crack spread across my windshield.
