This review is over a year ago, but still tracks in these current times because this Safelite location is very incompetent. The worst Safelite ever. They show zero accountability, zero responsibility, barely responsive and incompetent. 1. Installed an aftermarket windshield into my 2015 Honda Accord because my insurance would not cover it. They would not tell me this over email, but would tell me this over the phone. Pretty shady. 2. Because of the aftermarket windshield, the front car warnings and lane department warnings were allegedly failing. Told me they'd purchase the genuine OEM windshield in hopes that it will clear out the codes. 3. About a week goes by and I call the general Safelite hotline because I didn't know their direct number at the time when I left home for work. They were telling me that I had an upcoming appointment already scheduled. This Safelite facility scheduled the appointment without consulting with me first and claimed they didn't do it manually. Surrrrrrre buddy! 4. Emailed the person named Dominik from this facility in Riverhead on a Sunday. Which I understand I would not get a response back on that day since they're closed. This guy did not give me a response back AT ALL until after a car accident and outrage from me. 5. When I spoke with Dominik over the phone after the accident, he expressed zero consideration, accountability and empathy towards the matter. I understand that me getting into an accident is not solely their fault. However, the sensors failing due to their shotty work does not help PREVENT me from being in an accident. These sensors are put into place to prevent such accidents from happening. When I explained this to him, his response was just, "wowwww." Good response, sir. This whole situation snowballed because of their poor work/efforts. He even tried to tell me that I emailed him on a Sunday and that's why he didn't reply back to me. Dude, it was 3 weekdays later and I received zero response from you. No excuse when it's a Thursday and I emailed you on a Sunday. 6. When I called him again to confirm that my insurance would not cover the OEM windshield, he was being very dodgy with his answer. Along with the dodgy emails about it telling me to call him instead. 7. This man tried to tell me that the aftermarket windshield is IDENTICAL to the OEM original windshield. There is no truth behind this and he knows that. It is almost identical. Never exact. He's just trying to save face. 8. Got my car checked out at another Safelite facility with a guy named Luis where he did it at the parking lot of my workplace. Really nice dude and went above and beyond compared to Riverhead's efforts. He did the extra work and found out that the sensors may be the reason to the failure and not the windshield. Stating that even with the replaced windshield, those sensors would still not work. Very courteous, competent, responsive, honest, and really knows how to explain things in a simplified way. 9. Luis had his manager reach out to the Riverhead location and they've failed to get back in touch with me to get this moving along. This was done on Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. Which I understood I would not get a response back so close to the holidays. Yet I have not gotten a response yet from Safelite Riverhead about this situation. Not once from when this review has been posted. I've given a generous amount of time for them to reach out to me and get this going. I want nothing to do with Riverhead's Safelite, but they need to get this moving forward with the Safelite shop that has jumped into this to help me. Luis has had his manager follow up with them and still days are going by with zero response from Riverhead. P.S. their waiting room is disgusting and smells like ammonia all day. Kind of a hazard inhaling those fumes for hours on end. They have a parking lot fit for a bodega. Shocked that a Safelite facility like this even functions. FURTHERMORE, they caused me H-E-Double Hockey Sticks for months all because they THOUGHT a Honda windshield would not resolve the issue. Last resort was replacing it with a Honda windshield & guess what? IT FIXED THE PROBLEM! Listen to your customers, folks. read more

After getting a chip in my windshield, I called Safelight and was able to get a same day appointment. The technician thoroughly explained the pros and cons of filling in the chip. I thought my out of pocket cost was reasonable. The repair looked better than I expected. read more

I took my car to Safelite in Riverhead, for a look at a stone chip I thought needed attention. When they came out to look at the chip they told me it had already been repaired once and that they would do a filling for me right there in the parking lot! Only took a few minutes, and didn't cost me anything. Maybe the original work is guaranteed life time? The tech was very efficient and nice to us. Thank you Safelite. read more

Made an appointment at noon and was given a window of 12 PM to 4 PM same day to fix a small chip/crack. Car is 15 min from their location. At 3:45 PM the tech was still not here, so I called the shop. They called the tech who said he would be to me by 430. At 5 PM I called back and they said he might come by 5:30 PM. At 5:30 PM the tech still did not show, I called the office and it was closed. I received a text three hours later saying that my appointment was rescheduled for 4 days from my appointment. Useless. Will find someone else. read more

Unfortunately a week after I paid them over $400 for a Jeep windshield, I found another Mobil glass installer that will do the same job for $200... yes licensed and insured... My window is available online, non oem, for $100 Safelite made $300 for 40 mins of work for install. Shop around before committing! read more

If you want a new windshield installed I suppose you could go to this place. I must say that I was disappointed with the workmanship. Both the outside and the inside of the windshield needed to be cleaned when I got home. It was real sloppy, and I was worried that the windshield wasn't installed properly, but it cleaned up fine. Why should the customer be cleaning up, however? You won't find much personality here and they promised to keep me apprised of the progress of my new windshield by text. That didn't happen at all. I had to call three times to see if my windshield had been replaced. I don't know, I may go back, but if given a better option by my insurance I would go somewhere else. read more

The Riverhead office did a perfect job fixing a bad chip. I took it there to the store. It took about 50 minutes and I cannot tell where the chip was. Perfect. The receptionist a Paul was great and helpful and explained the whole process. It came out perfect and they took great care of my truck. Could not be happier. read more

Before I went to get my windshield replaced I had no lights on in my car. After I got the windshield replaced they recalibrated it and a headlight malfunction light popped up. The manager Chris had someone recalibrate it again to see if the light would go off but it didn't so he said to take it to Audi and keep him posted. I get to Audi and they wanted to charge me $170 just to get a diagnostic. I called and spoke to Paul. He was apologetic and said he would get the diagnostic for me and if there was a problem would refer me to a mechanic. Long story short Paul made sure to get the light off and fully explained what happened. He was very helpful, polite and approachable. I would definitely return when Paul is working! read more

I used insurance so I didn't have to pay, but customer service was excellent. I was told 1.5 hour time to complete if I waited and it was a little shorter. I was able to see them deal with other customers and their professionalism was excellent, even when they attempted a fill that caused a break. They explained it could happen beforehand with all customers, and they couldn't pay for the windshield but wouldn't charge for what they did. Someone related to the customer called clearly angry, and the manager who answered the phone handled it with professionalism despite rising tension I could hear from away from the desk on the other end of the phone. Would highly recommend for their honesty and attentiveness. read more

My windshield was damaged and my insurance company suggested Safelite for repair. On 10/30, a tech came to my home and attempted a repair that failed, leaving a large defect in the windshield in my line of vision. I was told that I could live with it or schedule a second appointment when they would replace the windshield. Since living with the defect was unacceptable, I opted for the windshield replacement and an appointment was scheduled for 11/3. On 11/3, the tech arrived to replace the windshield and realized that the incorrect windshield was ordered. Subsequently, a third appointment was scheduled after the correct windshield was ordered and received. On 11/6, Safelite came to my home and after 2.5 hours, I was told that the replaced windshield was shattered upon installation and a fourth appointment would be needed after a new windshield was ordered. After the tech left, I noticed that the passenger side wiper arm was bent out of position and the door molding on the driver's side was hanging off and had wet glue on it. I immediately called Safelite and all I was offered was an apology for my inconvenience. As such, I canceled the new appointment and contacted my insurance company to make sure that Safelite was not paid and to schedule with another auto glass company. I will never again consider Safelite for any auto glass repair or recommend them. read more

I will never use Safelite again. I had the worst experience. I had a scheduled appointment at my home on May 5th between 1:30 and 5:30. At 5:00 I called and was told he (William) was "just around the corner" and would be there soon. At 6:00 I realized he was not coming. No call, no reason. When I called, they told me I had to reschedule and the earliest appointment was the following Tuesday. I had to drive 5 hours on Sunday with a cracked windshield. Again, no accommodation for the fact that I waited all afternoon for a no-show technician. The guy (James) that did show up on Tuesday was fine and did the job efficiently, but my wasted time between waiting and numerous phone calls with no satisfaction was inexcusable. The local office in particular was useless-they do not answer their phone and do not have a means for you to leave a message. I will NEVER use this company again!! I would give zero stars is it was an option. read more

Made an appointment via Geico two weeks ago for the first available appointment. The window was between 12pm and 5pm. Chad from Riverhead office Called at 8:30 in the morning to see if i could bring it to the shop. I explained that was not an option. The appointment was for them to come to my home and not for me to go there. He said he should be here by 2pm. That was the last i heard, he did not show and did not call to say that he is not coming. I called the number back, no answer. I called safelite via the toll free corporate number. That was such a waste. They could care less. Made every excuse under the sun. Rude, unprofessional, unapologetic and all this without even doing a thing. I can only imagine what kind of a sloppy work they will do. I tried to call and verify my appointment for this morning, but they disconnected me after waiting on hold. March 11 2019 Came to my house to do the windshield repair and they broke the mirror bracket. I had to then drive to the Riverhead office a week later to get the repair done. They left the adhesive glue all over my front fenders and hood. They removed it but left scuff marks all over. The "resolution" was for me to get an estimate at a detail shop to get the exterior detailed. I did that and had the estimate sent over to Safelite. Manager Adam has not been helpful and gave me the run around and it wasn't until I called the claims department, that I got some answers. The check for the detail was not sent out until yesterday. I've been waiting all this time with countless calls to Adam and the detail shop for updates. To just be left on hold or calls not returned. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP if you value your time and money. If you have Geico, you can go to any shop to have the glass repaired. Geico just has access to Safelite's schedule so it's easier for Geico to use, but I just found out today that I can use any shop. Don't give them your time or money because their only interest is their own. read more

I had my windshield replaced on my show truck with a $9600 paint job in my driveway. The installer damaged the hood and the piece covering the lower part of the windshield. Scratched the paint down to the bare metal and chipped and scratched the paint off the ABS plastic painted cover. The damage to the parts and paint will cost triple to repair than the windshield. The installer offered no discount or any offer for Safelite to reimburse me for the damage. Needless to say after this horrid experience I will never use the service again. I have had 5 windshields replaced by this company in the past and have recommended their service for years. NO MORE! Do they care? No, they certainly do not care about their loyal customers. I was expecting a phone call or email to discuss the damage and have received nothing. I also paid for this out of my own pocket - no insurance help.
