I should have read the reviews before I called them. WARNING: Think twice before letting this company touch your windshield. I called them to repair a tiny 1 cm chip. The technician assured me it was repairable. Minutes later, after using the suction equipment during the repair process, that tiny chip turned into a 2-inch crack across my windshield. What was a simple repair is now a full windshield replacement. The most frustrating part isn't even the damage--it's the complete lack of accountability. When I contacted the company, they refused to take responsibility and basically told me to file an insurance claim and pay my deductible. The manager, Greg Lisbon, actually suggested I should just go through my insurance instead of making things right. If a professional attempts a repair and causes additional damage, the customer shouldn't be left holding the bill. I rarely leave negative reviews. In fact, I usually give businesses the benefit of the doubt because mistakes happen. What matters is how a company handles those mistakes. Unfortunately, this company chose to deny responsibility and leave me with an even bigger problem than the one I called them to fix. I trusted them with a small chip. Be warned this shop and the manager Greg has a history of lying and cheating customers. The mobile technician claimed that he could not complete the calibration. I had to take the car into their shop the next day in the morning and in the evening they tell me that the issue is with the car not the windshield. Only when I took it to the dealer did I find out the truth - the technician broke my front camera during install - and incurred another $3500 to fix and replace the damage they caused. Dropped off the car in the AM for an all day appointment. Was told that I'd get a phone call when the car is ready - and that would be ready by the end of the day. Signage very clear in multiple places and online that they are open until 5pm, and that don't keep cars overnight. As I live 25 min away, though I hadn't gotten a call yet, I left the house to arrive around 4:45pm so I'd be there before closing time. I tried multiple times to call them to ask about the car being ready, but was unable to reach an actual person. When I arrived the car wasn't ready and they said they don't actually close at 5pm, they stay until all the work is done. The car was not finished until around 6:45pm, so I had to wait around 2 hours. If they had given me a heads up that they don't actually close at 5pm, or if I had been able to reach someone, I wouldn't have rushed to get there and then had to wait 2 hours. They nicely reversed the $76 charge for the windshield wipers, and the workers there were friendly. However this was a case of very poor communication which led to my having to wait there 2 hours unnecessarily, which I attribute to a management lapse. This was a very frustrating experience! Sketchy business practice. If you do go with Safelite, at least do *not* prepay. My car window was smashed and I tentatively booked an appointment with Safelite online. They quoted me $400+ all-in. I got quotes from top Yelp-rated local companies and they were at all at least 40% cheaper than Safelite. I booked with another company and when I cancelled my Safelite appointment, the software offered me an instant $100 discount if I kept the appointment. What a blatant admission of price gouging in my view. And even with the $100 discount, Safelite was STILL far more expensive. Also, the fine print said that if the service was pre-paid, a cancellation fee would be deducted from the refund. Thankfully I didn't prepay. I went with Star Tiger, paid almost half the price and the person was on time, responsive, diligent and meticulous. (Was happy with the glass quality, although I'm not an expert on glass.) read more

These guys ruined my Audi A5 (with only 65k miles on). While replacing passenger side glass they pinched some wiring in the door fritzing some of the electronics. Not only would the window not go up, but the door wouldn't lock and alarm wouldn't set. As a consequence the car wouldn't start because the anti-theft system was activated by the unlocked door. Two tows later and almost $2000 in mechanic's bills they found the fused wiring. Safelite will not repair it because they "don't touch that part of the car". Bad workmanship replacing the glass caused damage to the electronics and rendered the car unusable. Their warranty is not worth sh*t Repair, Replace: When you leave something to be repaired at Safelite you will soon have to replace it! read more

On their third visit, they fixed the rain sensor but only took a picture of the broken sprayer and promised to contact me, which they never did. To top it off, it took a month for warranty support to respond to my email, and now they're telling me to call them again. I had been waiting all week for them to fix a tiny chip in the window. Fifteen minutes before the scheduled time for their arrival window, I received a text demanding a photo to prove that it was a tiny chip, or else they wouldn't come out. I had responded to multiple texts during the week confirming my appointment, and at no point was I asked to prove that I had a crack or provide a photo. After I expressed my frustration with the last-minute demand for a photo, they got rude and never showed up. Even after I dropped everything to get them the photo, they just stopped responding. Clearly, their lack of communication is the customer's fault. It's frustrating that a company that often replies in the comments with "this isn't the experience we want for our customers" isn't doing anything to change and make it a positive experience for their customers. This likely explains why they don't have a BBB Accreditation due to their lack of basic standards. A foul ball hit the windshield of our 2020 Toyota Highlander. Our insurance recommended that we work with Safelite for the full windshield replacement. We shared our VIN number, make and model of car, and were told that our appointment was in two weeks for the installation and calibration. Upon arriving two weeks later, the technician tells me that they had ordered the wrong part. I asked when they would expect the correct replacement and they couldn't tell me ("Sorry, it's up to our Parts Department"). I understand mistakes happen, but how in God's name does someone go for two weeks without noticing that the wrong part had been ordered? I called my insurance back, explained what happened, and got my work order switched to the dealership. The dealership fit me in the next day and was responsive throughout the entire process. Unless there is some kind of miraculous overhaul with the management of this business, run, do not walk away from giving this business any support. read more

Safelight won't warranty the windshield if something may have fell on it. At this point if a small nut or leaf can crack it tells me the product is very poor and I am not safe with it on my car. Went in to fix a dime sized knick from a rock off the road, and drove out with a foot long crack and need to replace the entire windshield. They warn you that in rare cases this can happen. Let's face it, the only reason you're going to visit an auto glass store is because either your car has been recently broken into and you need your glass replaced, or something (a rock) from the road kicked up by a large truck caused a crack in your glass. Either way, you're showing up pissed off, so for them to make the experience as pleasant as possible is a tall order. I was able to get an appointment right away. Once my appointment was made, the Safelite app reminded me about my upcoming appointment on a regular basis. One could even argue that it overcommunicated with me, but I'll take that any day over undercommunicating. Once I pulled into the Evans Ave garage, I was introduced to Austin. He was great. He walked me to the car and explained that he would be doing a small repair that should take no more than 10 minutes. I sat in the spacious waiting room checking some email and in very short order Austin came in to let me know the windshield was repaired. He then showed me the work he had performed. I was in and out within 15 minutes. The only thing I could knock the store on was that I had to drive on broken glass to get out of the shop. Customers would appreciate it if the store could keep up with sweeping up a bit more - particularly at a shop who's whole business is about broken glass. read more

I had my windshield replaced here; they work with your insurance so you just give them your co-pay and not deal directly with the insurance company. Our new windshield seems fine, there does sound like there's some air coming through, but that might be all Teslas. I mentioned this issue and they replaced the entire thing with no cost since that's covered under their lifetime warranty. Another bonus is you can book/reschedule appointments online, and you get automated text reminders, which is nice. However, their customer service is very inconsistent. Here are the issues I've had to deal with each time I've come in. Initial windshield replacement: - The morning of my initial appointment, I got a text saying their technician was out and my appointment was cancelled. Fine, I reschedule online. - The morning of my rescheduled appointment (set for 1pm that day), they call me and ask me to come earlier. It is too late for me to move around other appointments/meetings, but if they had asked me even a day or two earlier I would have been able to do so. So we keep it at 1pm. - They never told me I should bring my car's key card (I have a Tesla and use my phone, and I was planning to just stay at the service center during the several hour appointment). I had to go home and get it, pushing the start time back even further. - I was told the appointment would take a few hours. I was there at 1pm, and at 5pm they still weren't done, telling me they'd be done at 6pm at the latest! I had to pick up my child from daycare, so they rushed and were done by 5:30pm. Warranty appointment: - My windshield sounded like it had an air leak, so I made a follow up warranty appointment. I just wanted them to check the glass. I got an automated text the morning of this warranty appointment that my replacement glass was broken. I texted to ask a few questions, no answer (turns out you can't text back). I call them, and I ask if I can still come in to just get an inspection, and I was told yes. I double check if my appointment is still on and hasn't been cancelled. - I show up for the appointment, and I am not exaggerating, I waited at the desk for 17 minutes before someone came to help me, with zero acknowledgement of the wait. - They tell me that the replacement glass is broken (yes, I know, but I called to make sure I can still come in to get it inspected). Turns out at this point there is no technician to test my windshield! And turns out the phone number posted online is the national center in Ohio or somewhere, so they don't actually know what's going on at each location. So I have wasted all this time calling in, waiting at the desk, just to be sent home. Rescheduled warranty appointment: - I get a text the night before my appointment (which we had set for 12pm) saying I MUST come in at 9am the next day or we'll have to reschedule. I text back saying I cannot do that (again I have meetings/other appointments I can't change with such short notice...), I can come in at 11:45am at the earliest. They say ok, just come in then. (So why send that urgent text about HAVING to come in at 9am in the first place??) read more

Thankfully, nothing was stolen...but now needed to deal with a glass replacement that regretfully didn't meet my deductible so this was out of pocket. I decided to wait, and glad I did because in 3o minutes the repair was done. All good there. I wasn't home for the visit and there appears to be no way to actually pay via the Website (the links don't work). When the company called me the next day to get payment, their credit card system was down and they couldn't accept credit cards. They called me the next day, and the next, and the next, but I had a huge work deadline in another time zone and could not get back to them. On the fourth day, they threatened that they would have to send me to collection on the following business day. Seriously, people? After four days? How about you fix your ability to get paid on-line? Made the appointment, they canceled it the day of saying they didn't have the right glass and had to order it from the dealer (should have known that from step 1 b/c type of car). They got the glass in then on the day they were supposed to come fix it canceled again saying I'd have to take it in to the shop to fix it (granted there's glass inside the car). Then they said they didn't have someone qualified to replace the glass on staff. I gave up and went straight to the dealership. Also had to clean up the glass on my own since they wouldn't come out! I called a local company (Cal Coast Glass) on the phone and got a quote of $370 and was told she would need to order the glass and that the were a week out for scheduling. I then called Safelite and went through the prompts. It basically said I need to conduct my business online. It forced me to end the call. So I go online and get a quote that is $40 more than the local company. The Safelite quote wasn't even a quote. " Quote does not include tax, recycling fee, and other applicable fees." What are "applicable fees " and why aren't they included in the quote. I'm sure they know how much the recycling fee is why isn't it included in the quote? Very shameful service, disappointed in Safelite and in my insurance for making me work with them. **Support local glass shops!!** You can pay $150 to a local shop out of insurance or $700 to Safelite. My experience with them took 4 (FOUR) months !! Storytime: My passenger car window was broken Jan 26 and Safelite sent their van to fix it the next day. The guy did fine, took like an hour and a half, charged me $700. He replaced the glass and told me that the regulator (what makes the window roll up & down) was broken. He said it was probably broken when the glass broke. I called my insurance for help rescheduling but back & forth with Safelite was slow and they wouldn't make an appointment. In the meantime my normal mechanic had his glass team take a look at it Mar 26. They said the glass was the wrong size, it was low quality, had holes in it and ragged edges, and that the tech probably broke the regulator when he put the wrong size glass in. My mechanic said half of the door clips were broken and the insulation was in shreds. He had some choice words about Safelite but the facts say it all. I reported this information back to my insurance and Safelite. After hours on the phone we had an appointment booked and Allison at Safelite said they would definitely have all the parts (new glass and regulator), i confirmed this twice. On April 13 after half an hour of waiting they took a look at the window and said they would not be able to fix it. They did not have the parts and were planning on attempting to repair the broken regulator. They sent me away with my door in pieces and glass that would not stay up, whistling on the freeway and letting in rain on the seat. The tech said they'd call me to organize new parts and never did. I called them a week later and nobody was assigned the case. I called again a few days later and Allison at Safelite said the regulator was in the 'parts procurement system' but the glass wasn't but they'd figure it out. She made an appointment with me May 18. It took many phone calls between Safelite and my insurance to get the correct parts on order. These same parts i could buy at any O'Reilly's or auto parts store. Allison at Safelite wanted to charge me $1,300 extra for the glass even though the original appt. was under warranty. My insurance agent contacted the Safelite PNW region manager Rebecca and threatened their exclusivity deal with my insurance company. She said she'd call me but never did. She said to my insurance agent that the regulator was impossible to source due to the age of the car. Eventually, 2 days before my appointment, i was able to confirm with my insurance agent that Rebecca said they had the parts and would be ready. May 18th i was at the shop for 2 hours before they touched the car. It took 3.5 hrs total. I was finally able to clean the car and there was so much glass everywhere. The new window makes a loud sound but whatever im glad it's over after 3.5 months. read more
