    RANT. Consumer Alert. I have used Safelite in other states (NM, VA) and I was very pleased with the service. I used Safelite in Tyler a year and a half ago and they told me they couldn't repair my Escalade because of the type of glass it had; therefore the windshield would have to be replaced. At that time, I was disappointed, but I didn't think too much of it. Last week I called in repairs for 2 different vehicles. The technician arrives and begins the repair on the first vehicle. I had to run a quick errand, and when I return, he says I am so sorry, your glass cracked out. I went from a star rock chip to a crack halfway across my windshield. He then began to tell me he didn't see the need to put the Rain X on it since it cracked out. I asked if it would have to be replaced? He said no, this should hold for a little while but yeah if the crack bothers you, you can call and schedule a replacement and it will just cost you your deductible. I said why should I have to pay for a vehicle that you damaged, that doesn't seem fair. He said well there's always a risk of that when you do repairs. I said well I have had repairs done before and that didn't happen. He said well I will comp the wiper blades since it was a failed repair. He starts on the second vehicle, about 30 minutes later he says the second one was no problem and he proceeds to give me 2 (completely worthless) lifetime warranty brochures. When he leaves I go to put the warranty in the glove box and I am furious because the rock chip looks the exact same, just bigger. I call customer service and explain that I am very unhappy with the service I received and she says, No problem, I am so sorry for the failed repairs and the bad experience, would you like us to replace the windshields? I said I don't want the windshield replaced (on the 2nd vehicle) I just want the repair done correctly. She said well we can't go over a repair so we would need to replace the windshield, I said okay thank you and schedule the service. At NO POINT did she tell me that I would have to pay my deductible. I am thinking they were replacing it because it was a failed repair. Regarding the first vehicle she said someone would have to call me back because the technician hadn't closed out the ticket yet. I drop the vehicle off, no mention of a deductible, and I say while I am here, I also need to schedule the other vehicle for a replacement because he cracked it out. They were supposed to call me back on Friday, but no one did. She said sure and began to ask me about the glass and if the crack occurred during the repair and I said yes. She schedules it for Wednesday. When my daughter goes to pick up her car, she left the other car there so they could replace the windshield on Wednesday. They tell her she has to pay the deductible and we pay it ofcourse. Last night I get a text about my upcoming appointment and the estimated total. When I click on it, it shows the deductible, Rain X and new wiper blades. I was FIT TO BE TIED. I called this morning and told the receptionist not to start on the repair because I am absolutely done with Safelite Tyler, worst customer service I have ever received.
