I bought my car in here to have the sunroof fixed. I knew he couldn't fix it properly. I just wanted it in the closed position. Called me the next day to say it was ready. $650 plus $52 for parts. I asked him what parts and he said no parts were used so he took of the $52. When I go get the car the sunroof is not closed. I tell him this and he replies that's as good as I could get it. Why am I paying you money when it's not closed. He says leave it with him. Calls back two days later to say it's fixed but don't be driving it on the freeway as the glass might fly out. He also doctors the original invoice starting this. The guy is a shyster. Stay away. I will be reporting him for unsavory practices. STAY AWAY FORM HIM. HES A CONMAN. read more

took my truck in for manifold leak that they already fixed.said they didn't do prior repair so not responsible for it. gave me the run around for 38 days . said that my truck wasn't catalogued right at factory. it's gonna be 2k then another 1k for catalytic converters . dave who owns motor city steel who had my other truck for 5 weeks . uses junkyard parts ,said I cut the new part off n half that I brought to them to return because it t was wrong part. counter help said we called six times which is untrue. so I had the truck towed to all tire and fixed the next day. I'm out 1200.00. with the tow. don't trust the rat hole shop. go to a place that communicates and tells the truth. Citibank wouldn't return 1200 so I'm out. no stars or stripes for these scammers. read more

This place used to be good but ever since once of their guys left it's been a dumpster fire. Overpriced and no longer trust them after spending $2K on repairing our daughters car and she's still having issues with it. Brought it back and they wanted another $1K to do more work. After a week we went to pick up car and took off with the same problem had to slowly drive it back to shop and they told us they would work on it the next day we didn't get a call for over a week after that and ultimately it took over a month to get car back with only a few calls on there end to let us know what was going on Due to us calling asking for updates they said they would give us and still not any updates Until we would call ,one worker very rude on phone when we called to see how things were going. Gave the run around most of the time. they did knock off a little bit of money but nothing like they should have giving the Circumstances. we are grateful to have finally gotten car back so far it is fixed and running good. we hope for this business to do better on Customer service and keeping there word. read more

Absolutely brutal! Service manager quoted me $45 for a minor repair, then calls several hours later to say that the car was ready and the price was now $90. When I confronted him about not being notified prior to increasing the repair price (as required by Michigan state law), he lied straight to my face and said that he had. Naturally, I wanted to speak to the manager. And, naturally, he wasn't available and failed to return my call before the close of business. They are closed on Saturdays, and the car is needed on Monday, so I now have to go elsewhere to have the new [Safety Auto-induced] problem repaired. Oh, and to add insult to injury...they managed to fix the original problem, but created the exact same problem in the other headlight. And of course they want another $90 to fix that, even though the service manager admitted to me (in the presence of another customer!) that he had seen it working himself when it was pulled into the garage. The proverbial jury is still out on this escapade until at least Monday. However, it doesn't bode well to have Safety Auto's service manager lie straight to my face, and then have the owner fail to respond in a timely fashion. read more

I had service done on my 1992 Bonneville in 2006 after driving the car when it was warm if you stopped somewhere it would not restart. Took the car to Safety Auto in the summer of 2006. They said it was the connection to the coil package it was corroded and I had some other work done oil change etc. Cost me $600 dollars the night I took it home I drove the car around for a while stopped at the party store across the street from where I live and bang car wouldnt start same problem as before. I took it back to safety auto and they said it was a crank sensor which cost me another $400 dollars to fix the same exact problem. I didnt say anything about it at the time should have but didn`t. So I will never have a car fixed by them and will warn others not to have theirs repaired by them. I will be watching them and Yelp I heard bad reviews disappear after a while and good ones stay up longer. read more

Trusted them to select a good used motor for my 2005 Envoy. First motor lasted 6 months and had be replaced. Second motor installed has never run right. I have had the vehicle towed back to Safety Auto 6 times in the last year. Paid for a warranty part that they were responsible for in order to get my vehicle back in a few days rather than a few months, they were going to make me wait for their suppliers analysis. Their supplier reviewed and stated that there was nothing wrong with the suspect part. So I now have a vehicle that has had a repair but the problem has not been properly defined. Now I wait for the next break down. Made several phones calls asking for reimbursement of the cost of the warranty part. They have refused to pay the $320 owed for a part. Many issues including extensive periods of waiting time for replacement (weeks at a time without my vehicle.). I have heard similar stories from the guys at Murrays in Walled Lake. There were several repairs that I agreed upon. He called me back shortly stating one repair was not needed to be done and saved me over $100 so I had him install break pads which he suggested. I brought my sons jeep in as it would mysteriously start and not start. I figured an easy fix!! The shop spent an entire week searching for the problem which I believe ended up being electrical. They are a neighborhood shop, friendly, honest and were determined to figure out the problem. They are so very busy they could have easily told me they could not help me. avoid them, they replaced our front rotors with rebuilt rotors that only lasted 4000 miles. They charged the same for rebuilt as new ones would have cost. Then they told us our transmission needed to be replaced. Actually all it needed was repaired, The dealer had it completed in one day at a fraction of the cost they quoted. read more

Anything less than 1 star? I would choose that! Safety Auto on Willow Rd. did the WORST job in making sure my parent's car was safe to drive to Florida. We have NEVER seen such awful work done a car. My parents call the owner a friend and this is what Dave the owner does to them!?! Three hours into the trip the alternator goes, stranding us on the Hwy in the middle of the night. No lights on the HWY with my family sitting in it for 1 1/2 hours with semis blowing past us IN COMPLETE DARKNESS! Very scary! Obviously never checked! The battery wasn't even connected properly! The steering wheel box needed to be replaced and wasn't. A good auto mechanic would have known this instantly. I am sure it was known and ignored! My parents were told it would loosen up after a few miles. Well...let's just say it took jeff holding on with two hands to keep the car straight and it shook so badly that he still feels it after having to hold onto the wheel for 39 hours. Every time we stopped for gas we had to tighten the lug nuts on tires because they loosened up with from the shaking. At one point one of the tires almost came off! I couldn't even help with the drive because jeff didn't want me to experience something so awful. I can't even list all the things that WERE DONE IMPROPERLY! Brakes! Or Not done at all! Oh... DAVE IT DOESNT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING LIKE YOU TOLD THEM! AND WOULD IT HAVE KILLED YOU TO PUT WORKING WIPERS ON? Not a friend at all to my parents! Praising God it was Us driving this truck down and not my 80 year old parents. Truly feel awful for both of them as they are the sweetest people in the world! Safety Auto is the worst! read more
