Honestly, I shop in grocery stores all over the country, and I am never more disappointed than when I shop at my own local store... Incredibly poor stocking. Things that should just be automatically always available... Empty shelves. And the floral department which used to be my go to, is now the last place I will purchase flowers because they come home and are dead in the next day or two. Today, the bakery had about four cakes, all rainbow colored, that was it. Literally, the only thing I can say positive is friendly clerks and it's a convenient location. I frequent this one and the Mangrove one very often. However, I avoid coming here during lunchtime on a day when schools are in session, because then the store becomes really packed. To avoid this lunch rush, I do my shopping and get out of here before 11, or wait until it ends, then come in. Store is very clean and cheerful inside. I like both locations, but this one sometimes has some items you can't find at the Mangrove one. Really like their deli and bakery sections. They have great sandwiches and lunch specials. I love to get some barbecued chicken and some of their delicious pastas. The options for grabbing a quick bite here are fantastic. Overall, this is a wonderful store for shopping at. read more

This store used to be good but they are being mismanaged. They seemingly have lost many of their good employees and they almost always are shorthanded at the check stand. If and when the express line is open they always put their slowest checker there so it doesn't turn into an express line at all. With the prices they are charging for their goods, which sometimes feels like a gouge, they should be much more adequately staffed. read more

The deli and produce have always been pretty good here, the customer service usually fine, but today was just NOT a good experience.. period. I went to the self checkout and a man named Bryce, snuck up on me behind and verbatim says "do me a favor, press the 10 on the survey in front of you, bud". guess theres a new survey that pops up before you scan your goods. Anways, i asked him "what is it for"? He annoyed said oh its for satisfaction. Hmmm what if i didnt want to leave a 10? Is it me? or is Life getting Shittier Lately? Case in point, shopping at Safeway, one of their key benefits to shopping with them is a .10c Discount for every $100.00 spent with them. Which can accumulate up to $1.00/gallon of gasoline spent at their branded gas stations. OK. Well last year there was a stretch of a few weeks where said discount wasn't there on my receipt. I made a phone call and the matter was cleared up ok good. Until now. They are back at it. So I called them up again. I have spent $300.00 with them in two weeks and have 1 not 3 .10c gas rewards with them. So, I called them up again, and their response was, do you have the exact receipt?? No, But I did rattle off the exact days and amounts. Well sir if your purchases don't qualify then you will not get the gas reward. How to loose a Customer in one fell swoop. read more

I was ripped off at the Safeway Gas Station and the attendant wouldn't help me out. The air pump charges $2.00, but after I inserted my card I found the tire pressure control pad was broken. I couldn't set the tire pressure above 32, and I needed 37. All I could use the pump for was reducing the pressure in my tires, not adding pressure. The attendant took five minutes to show up at the register with a few of us standing in line. When he did show, he said he knew the pump was broken. He said he had asked for it to be fixed a while. But he also said he couldn't help with a refund on the card. The gas station attendant didn't say why there was no sign warning people about the broken pump if he already knew about it. Instead, he's letting people go on getting ripped off. He didn't even offer to write a note that I might be able to trade for air the next time I stop by. He seemed fine with the idea that customers are out of their cash, so I'm fine with the idea of replacing my old positive review with this one. read more

We use the app to apply digital coupons to our purchases. This is the only shopping we do at Safeway. It is a good discount, it reduced a $78. by $25 in coupon discount. However, the coupons used in the app did not apply at check out. The checker, frustrated, had to manually enter each discount. Please fix this! read more

The pharmacy is the worst!!! I had a very simple prescription called in from my doctor. Didn't even have to count pills it's a simple box that needs a label. 2 days still nothing!! I called and pharmacy staff told me "it is what it is". You can call back later if you want or not. Its unreal the joke that customer service is! Bullies! My prescriptions are being moved as is my husbands. This store WAS also my grocery shopping spot. I spend an average of $1,200 monthly which I'm sure isn't anything to them. The Safeway Pharmacy is the worst in town. The pharmacist's accent is so thick you can't understand what she says. They are severely understaffed and when I was told to come back in 30 minutes to get my medication, it still wasn't ready. The doctor had phoned it in 4 hours prior. I don't usually write reviews about huge grocery chains, but I thought it would be worth mentioning my HUGE DISSATISFACTION in the quality of their name brand labeled frozen meals. (SEE PHOTO). I thought I'd buy a few of their frozen Select Brand Orange Chicken meals. On the cover of the box it has a tastefully massive amount of food and inside the box I was surprised to find two (yes, two!) measley pieces of chicken and a sloth full of rice (the cheap stuff). Now, I can't complain at $2.00, but let's get real. I should have gone to Panda Express and had a crap-load of orange chicken for $6. Then cooked some rice and steamed some veggies and had a great meal. So, Safeway...quite trying to cheat the customer. We get that enough from fast food restaurants (has your burger ever looked like the one on the menu board??? I think not!!) Never again will I buy SELECT brand items. Cheap, yes. Overall, a standard Safeway but clean and has good features. They have a Starbucks and a Jamba Juice, which is really nice. My only complaint is the deli--specifically the sandwich counter. Good sandwiches, but seriously guys, how is it possible that you are always out of tomatoes?? The last three times I've been there have been no tomatoes. I wouldn't normally care but the veggie selection for the deli is pretty slim already. Plus, I feel like there is somewhere in the store you might be able to find more tomatoes, if needed. I do like the fresh sushi selection and the management of the store. It seems the store is always organized and clean, especially because of how busy it is. I've never had a bad interaction with an employee and feel like everyone is friendly. It's one of my go to grocery stores in town and glad it's the closest one to me. read more

Service beyond comparison, from Andrew in the fish counter. It was late on a Saturday evening and he had already put the fish away...and most likely had been warned not to work overtime. I wanted to buy 4 Dungeness crabs for a dinner party. Andrew was kind enough to go in the back and find four big ones and even cleaned them for me. All the while smiling and chatting. My daughter and her friends where so surprised. She loved her cake. The cake not only look great but tasted great. Decent prices are around if you have a club card. This safeway is a medium sized business. You can find pretty much everything within 15 to 20 mins in the store. The employees are friendly and that are willing to strike a conversation with you. I brought a few items to head out on a few hours drive, and it was cheap! read more

The prices are higher but the store is cleaner than some of the other stores in the town. My biggest complaint is the deli counter person. Whom ever ever this kid is, he has a really bad attitude the past three times I have been in the store to buy cold cuts for my family. He doesn't wear a name tag or a hat. He gets very pissy if you ask him to slice meat that hasn't been sitting in the tray all day. (sorry but I do not like dried out cold cuts that are 8 hours old). He slams down the meat in the machine to cut it. Practically threw the bag of meat at me when he was done and then gets angry if I ask for something else. Evidently it's a two item minimum at the deli counter. I am nothing but nice and try to smile even though this kid is being a jerk. There is never a manager nearby when he is throwing a temper tantrum! We will take our money elsewhere if he is going to be working the counter. My 20 year old daughter recently got a job at your Safeway store on East st in Chico Ca. Last night she was scheduled until midnight. She was left completely alone in the front of the store as a cashier while all other employees were in the very back. 3 customers came in and sexually harassed her with one saying he would be waiting outside when she got off. She called the manager up and was brushed off. Today she called the GM of the store to say she couldn't work late like that because she felt unsafe and was told to bad she would have to come in. No thought was given to her safety so she quit. The GM told her all employees get harassed like that and don't complain. The management is well aware of a man who has been patrolling the parking lot saying vulgar comments to the young women collecting carts. No wonder they can't keep employees. They put my daughter in a vulnerable and unsafe position and didn't care when she brought it up. Horrible way to run a business read more

This is my neighborhood Safeway. I've shopped here for 20 years. At the beginning of the shutdown due to Covid-19 they responded responsibly. However they are not enforcing the mask order. I understand it's the customers responsibility to self monitor distancing and aisle directions but I don't feel comfortable when shopping with people who aren't wearing masks. I'll be taking my business to Trader Joe's since they care about my health! If management changes their enforcement I'd love to return. read more

Will never use this pharmacy again and I have used it for YEARS. My husband was having a colonoscopy and I went in to pick up the prep for him. Was told they were waiting on additional info from the Dr. Called the Dr and they said they would send it over. Waited an hour and called to see if they had the info. Spoke with the pharmacist and she said if we brought in the instruction sheet she could fill the prescription. She then put me on hold to make sure they had they prep. (they had the prescription for TWO weeks before I went in) My husband went down, and after much confusion finding the prescription, verifying the instruction sheet he had, THEY TOLD HIM THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PREP!!!!! This is NOT something you can just go and pick up another day. He had to have it! They then had to scramble to find a pharmacy that had the prep and told my husband they would fax the prescription over. He went to the new pharmacy and the prescription was not there. They called Safeway and were told it was on the way. Waited, nothing. Called again and again was told it was on they way. My husband then called the Dr office and thankfully someone was still there and was able to call the prescription over to get it filled. We would have had to cancel his procedure if we hadn't been able to get the prep. WILL NEVER USE THIS PHARMACY EVER AGAIN!!!! read more

The grocery store is great. But the Pharmacy is terrible. I've been going her for almost a year because unfortunately it's the only place in town that my insurance will take and there hasn't been one time that My prescription has actually been ready when I go to pick it up. They even send me text reminds saying it's ready but when I get there I have to wait for anywhere from an hour to and hour in a half. I absolutely dread having to get my medication here. To top it all off there is always something "wrong" with my insurance but I've never had a problem with it anywhere else I've had to go. read more

Jaime in floral takes different flowers and makes a custom bouquet every time my husband walks in and asks.
