An excellent store. I was on a road trip through California. The store was clean, well stocked, not too busy and the food was delicious. I was on a budget and stayed and shopped in a smaller, nearby town, Corning. However, I like Trader Joes and gave this store a try, glad I did. Pros - clean - easy parking - reasonable prices, for a store of this quality. - this and WinCo seem to be the better stores, not just for Chico, but within an hours drive. Con - Are Trader Joe's over priced? If I was moving to this area, I would live and shop in a smaller town, such as Corning or Orland. Then I would be saving money on housing and food. read more

Friday 3pm 10/3/2025. I never ever have stepped into a Trader Joe's store where upon entering the store every employee looked pissed off or hated the fact it was Friday. I don't know. But, I'm not happy how my clerk/bagger treated me at register. A, Ricardo didn't say hi how are you. But I asked him how his day was going? He proceeded to ingnore me. Then Bryce assuming your new bagger didn't say hi or bag or anything. Then Ricardo didn't even say bye or have good day when he handed my receipt. I NEVER EVER HAVE BEEN TREATED SO RUDELY IN TRADER JOES. I get anxious in store too so the fact I was treated poorly when being friendly was disrespectful. I'm sorry I didn't have my makeup on or dressed all fancy but holy moly I got in my car and cried out the pure anxiety cause I felt like I said something wrong to Ricardo. I hope someone from the company looks further into more training for clerks cause I don't care how busy it is nobody seemed happy walking and leaving that store at 3pm. read more

Never have written a review for Trader Joe's but this location deserves it. Since the pandemic started, this is basically the only grocery store I go to the most because I feel safe. I have always been a big fan of Trader Joe's and their customer service, but the pandemic has brought it to another level! I appreciate the extra work being done to reduce the spread and risk of exposure by sanitizing carts, providing paper bags for free, and enforcing masks and social distancing. read more

No cap this place is on my top 5 best Trader's I've been into so far. It's fairly larger than any "normal" Trader's that you'd find around here but it's incredible. It's clean, the floors are swept and the shelves seem to be faced as much as possible, even on a normal day when it's at it's busiest. The staff members are all incredible, they know the layout of their store very well, and they are the reason this place is kept in beautiful condition. The produce and perishable snacks are always fresh and clean, very good. I've noticed that the busiest times seem to be the general afternoon during the beginning of the week. Yes, its a general TJ set up. Easy to find the items we are looking for. This trip was punctuated because we found this organic purple carrot juice. Sounds so healthy and it actually tasted better somehow than regular orange carrot juice. Its such a deep purple, seems like it could really stain something good. Gonna get more of it. read more

Although Trader Joe's has good food, it's getting expensive. Certain employees (a woman name JP and a few others) are rude and have made me feel uncomfortable and creeped out by their way of socializing. Janean charged me for food items I in fact did not actually buy, I didn't realize this until later in the night when looking at my receipt. It's insane just how crowded it gets on Sundays too. I'm not particularly fond of this Chico location for several reasons. I get really bad anxiety every single time I shop here and before I even walk through the doors. I don't usually write reviews BUT THIS TRADER JOES deserves five stars and more. Literally Saturday , July 18, 2020, around 7:30 I locked my keys in the trunk of my car after putting my groceries away. I called my insurance and they were searching for a provider. At about 8, the person that sanitizes the carts and greets you asked if I was okay and offered me a water bottle. I told him my situation. The gesture of asking if I was okay and offering me water was already greatly appreciated. YET. Now it is 8:40, Trader Joe's is getting ready to close up. The coworker who I wish I got his name comes with a wire and says can I try to help you. I accepted his help as I could have been waiting for who knows how much longer. Mind you we are in a pandemic, everything is closed/ing. The coworker got my car open!! With the little tools he had as he had some wire, pliers, and a flat head that he got from TJ. He was genuinely caring to help me. That's not even it!!! The boss came and gave me flowers and said: "I hope this makes your day better." Getting my car open was already a blessing and overwhelming kind. AND, they replaced my vanilla ice cream that had melted in my car that I didn't even buy from them! This Trader Joe's reminded me of just pure kindness and humanity. It's hard to see good with so much going on today. This Trader Joe's and especially that man just warmed my heart. I have so much to say and am so so grateful... that man deserves a raise. Thank you, thank you for being kind, humble, compassionate, and for helping someone (me) in need. This Trader Joe's has a real problem with the freshness of perishable food. Often their bread is stale. The veggies (broccoli, asparagus) are often moldy, hard, and look terrible. Trader Joe's is working tirelessly to keep the community safe by sanitizing everything from the carts to the counters and providing paper bags for free. This was the worst Trader Joe's I have ever been to. First and foremost, I was walking into the store to see the manager standing there as if he was security or a police officer mandating masks. I had my mask on and it slips down under my nose sometimes when I talk. He told me I needed to put it up; I did. I was walking the store with my cousin and we were talking and literally TWICE MORE he came up to us as we were shopping and told us "he's not going to tell us again....". Such a joke, we totally felt stalked and attacked for it continually slipping down our nose. He left us alone once he saw a man entering the store with no mask at all. They got into it for 10 minutes and the guy left the store and said he'll never shop at Trader Joe's again. I'm calling corporate to report this. This guy has power trip issues. read more

I love shopping at Trader Joe's, in general! This store, however, is one of the BEST I have shopped in. The selection of breads have been the best. The selection of cheese are good. Some a bit too pricey. Unique on the flip side. I have tried cheeses from TJ's that I have never tried before. Primarily because of the manner in which they are displayed that have made it more appealing to try. :) Their wines are very reasonable for the type of wines that they carry. I have not tried any of the beers. I am typically not a beer person. Besides Sierra Nevada is located in Chico. :) I do not buy much of their produce. It is mostly organic and if not used in a couple of days will turn quickly. I am impressed with the selection of 'gluten free' items TJ's carries. Especially the brown rice products. :) Lastly, the personnel in this store, are SUPER! They are helpful, go out of their way to help, unlike some of the TJs I have been in. Like the Carson City, NV, TJ's. I felt like I didn't exist when I needed help with finding an item. read more

When I am in Chico, this is one of my "go to" stops so I can stock up on some healthy items and pre-made salads. It is always busy, particularly around the samples and coffee area. Also, this is a good place for deals on apples and bananas... one of my traveling staples. read more

Just got assaulted outside the place by a manager in a man-bun hair do who came out yelling as we reached to get our carts while putting our masks on. HE came closer than 6 feet to us to yell at us that we couldn't come in that door and we had to have our masks on. So rude and we weren't entering through that door. We were simply getting out a cart from where they are kept, which happens to be by the out door. If they don't like that people have to get the carts from that door THEN STOP PUTTING THEM THERE! He made me cry and we are both disabled. We left the 3 Trader Joe's gift cards there after telling tbem how upset we were. No apology offered. Just Awful. We will never shop tbere again. This place hates disabled people and they are downright mean. read more

I hate Trader Joe's. They claim that they are so gluten-free friendly, but the truth is that most of their GF items say they were made in facilities with wheat. What's with that? Celiac's disease is not a dietary choice, so I don't appreciate it that Trader Joe's marks things in a way that deliberately deceives you. The package says GLUTEN FREE all over the front, but the back of the package clearly says it contains gluten from the facility. The GF items they sell that ARE truly GF--gross. Flourless chocolate cake is something that we were very excited for, but it tasted like fudge instead of cake, and had mold on it by the next day. I could go on and on, really... read more

I have a million reasons to love trader joes. Their organic produce is pretty reliable and they have a decent variety. The other thing I love is their organic milk is not Ultra-Pasteurized. Good luck finding typically pasteurized organic milk at other grocery stores. Impossible. I also love TJ's frozen food selection. The Chinese and Indian food is great. Try their coconut milk ice cream. It's a good alternative. I probably love this location also because they share a parking lot with Dollar Tree. I love that place. Fun fact: there is a Red Box across the parking lot in front of CVS. Be careful of their pre-made sandwiches and wraps. Though they are delicious, they are also full of calories! If I get one I try to split it with a friend. Last thing: I hear they are currently working on getting a liquor license from City of Chico. I've been shopping here almost as long as they've been in Chico, and have always had a very friendly shopping experience. This place is always super busy. Today was something special though. I was looking for a chocolate bar I've only seen Trader Joe's carry, that I think is seasonal. While at checkout I asked the clerk if they had it, and he asked the clerk at the front desk to look it up. That clerk found it, then told me he made the order for more, which I thought was super cool because I didn't think grocery stores made special orders for customers anymore. As I was walking back to my car, that same guy shouts to me they might have that chocolate bar in stock. I shout back "don't worry about it, I'll buy it next time I'm in store." He runs back in the store. To my great surprise, once I reached my car that same clerk runs back to me and tells me he found the chocolate in stock, hands me the chocolate bar, and tells me "it's on us." Wow. I don't think any other grocery store in Chico would do that, and it's like a $3.50 chocolate bar. Thanks Trader Joe's! read more

It wasn't one of those you walk in and they are grouchy and don't want to help you. But who needs much help unless you can't find what you are looking for. My first visit to a TJ location is bound to be biased, but I left with the fervent wish that TJ will soon open a location in Toronto, preferably close to where I live. For me, TJ beats down other health food stores and supposedly "higher end" places like Whole foods. Where to begin? Staff are friendly and down to earth; they are efficient and personable. They make it easy to load groceries out of your cart and find items in the store. Other customers actually smile at you and make room for other carts in the store (they don't pretend not to see you whilst they read every ingredient in 5 different brands of cereal). I really enjoy shopping at Trader Joes. Out of all the "Supper Markets", this is one of my favorites. They stock unique foods that are sold at a fair price. You might not find your normal products like Coke, Pepsi and Name Brand Products. By shopping here, I tend to buy products that are healthier. Oh, Trader Joe's how I love you so! Healthy and yummy food is all you have and I thank you for that! Okay, enough with the mushy gushy lovey dovey. If you want organic, go here! The fruit and veges taste so much better. The salad dressing and homemade pizza dough are excellent. Triple Berry O's are great, their four cheese pizza is fabulous, and their organic blends of juice are delicious. I love eating great food and knowing that I'm putting healthier choices into my body. You cannot go wrong with TJ's. My only complaint with this store is that they always seem to be low on lemons when I want to buy them. read more

This is THE place to get you off those crazy fast food dinners & Chinese Takeout. When I am working 10 hour days, I go to Trader Joes and stock up, filling our freezer with a variety of foods that cook up ridiculously easy, and are really satisfying. I probably stock up with a solid month's worth of food when I walk into Trader Joes. The place is irresistable. I have recommendations for newbies- Mandarin Chicken from their freezer section is a must have. I get home from work, start the oven, stick it on a cookie sheet, throw it in for 20 minutes while I do something else and then toss the sauce over it. with their freezer rice bags or some soba noodles that boil up in 3 minutes- I have dinner dirtying very few dishes. Better yet steam some veggies over your boiling soba noodles. From the refrigerated section, the cajun blackened chicken alfredo is great. That one cooks up in the microwave in about 5 minutes, just long enough for me to throw together a salad. Dinner is done, and dinner is fantastic. I'm also a fan of their Indian Fare Pav Bhaji and the Chicken Tikki Marsala, the frozen Naan is great after 4 minutes in the oven. They have frozen Shepherds Pie that is totally satisfying. They also have great little 4 packs of yogurt drinks, the strawberry is the only flavor I like but it is GREAT! That and a banana is great for a breakfast on the go. What I don't recommend from Trader Joes is most your fresh produce, bread and condiments. These items you can get good quality elsewhere cheaper. I hope you have space in your freezer! When in doubt, just try it. Our dinner variety has greatly increased as a result of trader joes. read more
