Unfortunately I'm disappointed in the move. Significantly less items in the store, SMALL shopping space, and always a line during checkout. ImI no longer do my grocery shopping there after being a devoted customer for 5+ years. Due to having significantly less items, I can never find what I'm looking for (known that they often have random items, but having been a larger space and more products I was able to find what I need). Before starting my review, let me say something important. This is a bargain market. It has groceries and other products at discounted prices. As a result, it may not be the fanciest grocery store out there, but it's phenomenal with prices. Inside of the store is relatively clean. Aisles are wide, allowing for easy cart maneuvering. I think the layout and the way products are arranged allows for a fun experience. I think it's exciting going through the store exploring everything. Employees are welcoming and patient with customers. That's never a downfall. I come here every now and then. I avoid coming at night, because the dark parking lot and homeless individuals wandering through the area can be a little too much. read more

I met the owner of this grocery outlet once in 2020 and he was a jerk. I asked him a question and he completely ignored me. Any time I go into this grocery outlet the selection is not great, and even the customers that go to the store aren't great to be around sometimes either. Not a good vibe here. read more

I've attempted to go there three times, usually for pet related products like litter and food, and have left every time without buying anything. This never happened that any other grocery store in my adult life, and I'm 46 btw. I've given them three chances and three chances I left empty-handed. They are so incredibly expensive I don't get why it's called an outlet, A bargain, or how anyone who isn't wealthy can shop there. It is more expensive than whole foods! It's freakin weird man! No reason to go there because people in this area are not part of the wealthy 1%. Almost everyone in this area is in polished, so the store does not belong here. read more

I love this place. The workers are always pleasant. Aisles are clean and well organized. Never overly crowded. With any grocery outlet, your favorites will not always be there, or the perishable food will be almost expired. But that's pretty standard across all grocery outlets. read more

Visited Grocery Outlet(GO) in Chico for the 2nd time, just yesterday. Clean store, well stocked, and nice staff. Also, this store is very roomy. I come from Ohio so Aldi is my jam. Great prices, their workers are the best, and the options are always so fun. So, when traveling to California this place popped up (because no Aldi) so my husband and I decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised! There's a TON of awesome heathy options, supplements, kombucha, and so many fun things to try. We made it our usual spot while in Oroville because there were a few around. I felt the fresh produce was good (it is California) and the selection of things to buy were great! When we find ourselves in California we will make sure to come back! read more

I like Grocery Outlets. This one is a bit more crowded with merchandise than I'd like. They really fill all their aisles and it's a bit overwhelming. I've had bad luck with their milk products both dairy and non-dairy. I tend to avoid them. I've also had some bad experiences with their more exotic fruit like when they get papayas. There are some great deals here. A few of the cashiers are a little unfriendly but most are great. Good deals. Clean. Lots of plants and produce. read more

My wife is Vegan. I always try to get her to come here; and she always, understandably, is hesitant out of fear they might not have enough vegan stuff. Since the store rotates through different products, the fear is reasonable. But sometimes I can convince her, and those times are when we walk out of the store with a cart full, and she says "why don't we go there more often?". There is always awesome stuff here. It's super fun to see a product for a third of its price elsewhere; especially ones that are really common, brand name products that are simply way cheaper here for no apparent reason. Grocery shopping here will definitely stretch your dollar. Sometimes there are fun, wacky products that are just fun to try. The staff is always kind, and the store is cleaned and well stocked. I love this store. People are always friendly and helpful. I shop here 3-4 times a week. Today I came in and was asked if I could leave my purse by the door. I was confused. Why can't I bring my purse in the store? The clerk offered to watch it for me. It was odd. I'm not sure if he thought I was coming in to the store to steal with my 8 year old daughter in toe, or what. But I decided to leave. No one has ever treated me this way here. My daughter and I were clean, dressed nice, and we smiled and said good morning when we came in. Not sure why I was treated this way, but I will not be coming back. read more

I have shopped here for 5 years now somewhat consistently. Several times recently I have noticed when I walk into the store all eyes on me and a couple staff members follow me and have awkwardly approached me. Seeing as I have never stolen anything I pay it no attention. After a few months of this a staff member abruptly barely considered cordially decides to speak to address their supposed issue. As my final attempt to be understanding although I would have accepted respectful conversations rather than months of being harrassed but we take what we can get so no issue. I fix the declared issue and I return to shop and the hispanic man that works there looked so bothered checking out my items like he wanted to find any reason to mess with me but had nothing. I shop I pay I mind my business and did not appreciate the discrimination. I have money I am a great customer I dont cause any issues and to be treated with such disrespect is unacceptable. I love grocery outlet have shopped at this chain consistent since I was a little girl sad I cannot shop in peace at this location as it is my only option right now. I definitely will be taking my complaint to corporate the owner responses to poor reviews have helped inspire me, it further proves dreadful management. Rude gets you no where especially when you work in customer service at a grocery store. I think I would return under new management seems like it is not run well- I am a pretty happy person and am big on customer service. ******This review is more of a review of working here. Not the quality of the store.******* Worked one day for them. Told them I had a physical disability with my wrist. And they made me get carts, even with knowing my limitations. It was only my first day, and everyone kept saying "you gotta be quicker than that with the carts and coming in to bag." I get it, but again.... FIRST DAY. First grocery job ever for me. I have always worked in the medical field and was near desperate for a job. So I took whatever I could get. Luckily I got offered a better job opportunity the same day, and took it. I called one of the managers to let them know I would no longer be working for them, and they said no problem. It's been a month now, and I never got paid for the hours I DID work. I understand I pretty much up and quit. But they still legally have to pay me. read more

This is one of the best places (in terms of lowest prices) in the area. It doesn't have near the selection of WinCo but its a great place to get random goodies at a great price. I also dig that if you sign up with your email, you get money (actual dollah dollahs) "off your next bill" coupons as well as regular coupons which helps save a TON of money! The selection is varied from, fruits and veggies to home goods and toiletries and alcohol (beer & wine). I especially like when they have organic fruits and veggies, because stayin healthy on the cheap is kinda great :) The store also sponsors wine tastings every so often at $5 a person and the money goes towards a different charity every time. I like that they give back to the community as well as helping the community save their hard earned dough! Yip Yippy for Grocery Outlet! I'll be back in there next week to do some more shopping and money saving! ps: If you get a coupon for $$ off your next total over $25 make sure to print it out, they cannot scan it off of your phone. My father needed some Christmas gifts. This store is amazing! I work for HD & went over to Grocery Outlet for him...everyone is phenomenal! The nicest employees I have met yet in Chico, CA. The wine department to the grocery aisles to check out. I was extremely impressed!! This store is very clean...the employees are awesome. I mentioned it 3 or 4 times not only to the staff, but other customers were highly impressed. Upon check out with the cashier, her response was "they have a great boss". WOW! I truly love this store. But about 3 weeks ago myself and my 4 year old daughter were in this store. We were in the produce section. My daughter picked up a small basket of tomatoes and dropped them on the floor. She says " sorry daddy I was trying to help you". I turned around there was a store worker standing 3 feet away. "I said im sorry she dropped the tomatoes. She was born with no fingers on her hand." He looks directly at her and says. "So pick it all up!!!" Here we are three weeks later. I found out it was the owner of the store that did this!!!!!! He saw my daughter was handicapped and didn't give a damn!!! Anyway i just thought it was disgusting!!! read more

Beware of racist cashiers. I am an older white male and was appalled by the different treatment I received compared to some latinx shoppers. We were all buying alcohol. I was not asked for any ID. They would not sell to the two latinx folks (shopping together) because only one of them had their ID with them. Both obviously over the age of 21. Cashier claimed it was only policy (sounds eerily familiar to the Nazi's excuses after WWII - I was just following orders). Yet somehow I doubt that the policy is actually "only harass POC for their ID when buying alcohol - and let white men go unchallenged." But that is how they choose to enforce this policy. read more

I have been doing my regular shopping here for the last 2 months. I have never been disappointed with quality of meat or the selection commonly used items. They recently remodeled the store which makes it easier to navigate. It's rarely crowded and the cashiers are always friendly. I actually *am* (as their ever-present in-store jingle suggests) starting to go here first when I shop! They're carrying more organic produce, gluten free products, raw and grass fed cheeses, and good organic dark chocolate. They always have good drinks (beers, wine, and ciders). One bummer - very rarely do they have organic or grass fed meats (ground beef for a while, which was nice), which would be excellent. They often have good yogurt, organic milk and milk alternatives (bring in the half and half), and plenty of meat alternatives (I can''t eat soy products anymore personally, but if you do they usually have several of the Yves products or similar). Their natural body and hair products are great sometimes and meh others - but when they're on they're a great price (Zia stuff for a few bucks, etc.). I highly recommend checking it out. The few people I've introduced to this place all go there regularly now. It's really unexpected, but likely worth having a peek! Keep it up, y'all! Note: If you see something you like, you best get it because it may not be there next time! And the good thing about Chico - Trader Joe's is across the street, S&S around the corner, and the Coop only a mile and a half away...if it's NOT here, you have nearby options. read more

I've shopped here about six times now and I'm starting to like it. I signed up for the Grocery Outlet emails, and I've also been getting circulars in the mail, and knowing what is currently on sale makes it a much better experience. I wouldn't consider Grocery Outlet a primary grocery store, but if I see something advertised on sale that interests me I'll stop by the store. I usually end up buying other things while I'm there. The staff are surprisingly helpful and friendly. I really only shop the frozen foods, beverages, and packaged foods so I can't comment on the quality of the meats and vegetables. Good variety and prices on frozen foods. Sale prices are hard to beat. The biggest disappointment about this store is its location. A bigger, nicer, newer building would do a lot to help this Grocery Outlet even if it is a no-frills store. read more

This place is good if you are looking for savings on processed and canned foods. Also, features a big selection of frozen vegetables and general frozen foods. I found their meat to be comparable, if not more expensive, than Winco, which is unfortunate because I was expecting outlet prices. Same goes for the fruits and veggies - I did score some strawberries for $1.50, and they had cantaloupe for $1.00, but I had just left Safeway and gotten a lot of the fruit for cheaper there. I really love that they have deli style cheese for $1.99 - you can't beat that! Service at the register is fast and very friendly. Their clientele is a lot of elderly people, so if you are a fast-paced urban boy like myself, you may want to consider going elsewhere. I had to slow down and "park" my cart in aisles to let the senior citizens have their field day in the canned food aisle! In addition, there were a lot of obese folks who don't have "excuse me" in their vocabulary (again, this store features a lot of processed foods!) Oh, and I didn't check out their beer and wine section, but I do know from my hometown Grocery Outlet that they tend to have good deals and selection on that as well! read more

I have been to several Grocery Outlets throughout the Bay Area, even a brand new location which is typically cleaner...the Chico Grocery Outlet beats the rest. The staff is very friendly...way friendlier than pricier grocery stores (SaveMart in Chico has horrible CS). Dan, either the Manager or the Wine Stoker is incredibly kind and helpful, very pleasant! The store has some really great products and I can typically do all of my shopping here. The prices make life a bit more affordable and I really appreciate that. I've never had a bad experience. The only down side is that the typical Grocery Outlet reputation caused me to avoid this place for the first 2 years I lived here. Never judge a store based on the other stores you have visited. I LOVE this place!!! And the wine/beer selection is great! They have Crispin Cider at the best prices I have ever seen. Thanks for being awesome! read more
