Today's visit was a confirmation why we started doing most of our shopping at Kings Super even though this facility is much closer. Came in at 6:30a. Full cart of groceries and no full serve checkout lines open - just self serve. Attendant stood 3 feet away, never said a word, no offer of assistance. And I was the only customer at the checkout. Terrible service from pickup. They didn't have my 6pm order ready until 7:45 pm and then the manager lied to me and said pickup closed at 7 pm, it closes at 8 pm. He then proceeded to cut me off multiple times and have a nasty ass attitude because he had to do his job. Do not go to pickup to this safeway go to the people on Nevada. I love this place, we live close by and shop here a lot for small things. Marcus always is friendly and says hello to us as well as yevette and Vonda I believe here name is they always say hello and make me and my fience feel welcomed. The parking spaces are a little close together and you have the every now and then bum but we work and live downtown and understand. I really wish people could understand customer service and specifically what customer service in this particular area is like because some of these reviews are just....... Anyways I'd like to see some of y'all be able to do customer service in this area without pulling your hair out being yelled at and being called dumb happens on a regular basis in this area, and maybe we should think what we are doing to cause someone to act this way. just saying. read more

This gem is hidden away in the Bon market near, and partly in, the Old North End. When you pull up to the parkinglot it's like getting transported to the 70's. Safeway is the anchor with it's outdated facade and modest size. Modt people might not like it, but I find it quaint. It isn't ina hurry, no self check outs, and I can think of a single clerk who hasn't been there for the two years I've been shopping there. They tend to get to know you. The fifth star is missing because it does tend to have limited selection and can sometimes move from quaint to crowded. read more

This is an old, small Safeway in an old, small strip mall. They don't have the room to expand like the other stores have done, and they basically serve the local neighborhood. It seems forgotten next to the other big, newer stores. I've been going there for 4 years and have seen them change managers like dirty socks. Any company that shifts through employees like that has internal problems. I would love to see this little store taken on by someone with a backbone instead of just a corporate mouthpiece. It serves the neighborhood well and I like the people working in it. Since it's smaller, everyone knows everyone. My favorite part is the Starbuck's inside. The baristas have been there for years and to me, they ARE Starbuck's. Julie and Stephanie are worth their weight in gold and I hope the ever shifting management continues to recognize that. read more

I'm not going to give one star because I love this Safeway! But!!! The bakery lady is something else! My daughter saw a unicorn cake she loved. So when she was at school I decided to sneak back and buy it for her to surprise her for her birthday. I pick up the cake and ask the lady who was icing another cake if she wouldn't mind writing happy birthday. She sighs and rolls her eyes. So I said "unless you're busy I'm sorry" and I didn't say it rudely YET! This lady tells me it won't fit. I gave her a puzzled look and then she walks around the counter picks up the cake from my hands and says "it'll ruin the design of the cake, how about I write it in a board next to the cake"........?????? I'm sorry folks but I thought stores sold cakes for the customers not the bakery employees? I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This is the worst safeway or grocery store for that matter! I understand it's a small Safeway because of their limited real estate to expand. However, the meat is highly overpriced, many items they do not even have, the lines take foreverrr because some of the cashiers are incredibly slow! It's good if you're in the neighborhood and need a few things, but if you're doing a big trip. Do. Not. Go. Here. Oh- and once one of the cashiers sneakily tried to get us to fill out a satisfaction survey to meet her deadline/quota. read more

Like the trend with other Safeways in the area they rarely only have more than a couple check-out lanes open. And even less likely is that an employee there will bag the groceries for you (to help put cashier; which king soopers really Does well))! I expect this lack of service and long wait lines at Wal-Mart, not my local specialty grocery store. Plus, parking at Bon shopping center is ridiculously congested. read more

This Safeway is like the step-child if all the other Safeways. They are waaay understaffed and the lines are always long.

This place is good for 10 items or less. Even with their new "3's a crowd " motto, one still waits in line on average 10 minutes. I can honestly say it takes me longer to check out than it does to shop there! Also, don't count on liking your favorite items being stocked for too long, they always reduce, replace or entirely quit carrying the items you need or want. You will find a lot of your items not even re stocked and empty in the shelf. Between dairy and produce, count on a lot of items being expired or near expired. There are a few employees that smile, but the majority of them look like they are being held against their will. Just looking for a gallon of milk? This is your place.. just check expiration date! read more

This Safeway was forced to stay small because of limited land for expansion. It is so much easier to shop in a smaller store than the super stores they have elsewhere. The super stores just carry a lot of non-grocery items like patio furniture, Bronco shirts and other kinds of non-grocery items, so I do not miss the extra floor space and walking. read more

It's great if you live in the neighborhood, but for a big shopping go elsewhere. They're so small they can't stock everything the other stores do. Safeway associates from other stores call this location "the old folks home". I'll let you figure out why. I think this relic hangs in there by virtue of there being nowhere else to buy groceries anywhere nearby. read more

I have lived in The Old North End since I was 7 years old. Our family has shopped at Safeway on Wahsatch since I was a little girl. I have fond memories of riding my bike to the grocery store with friends for treats; the staff was great and so was the customer service...until as of late. I don't know what has changed but the management is different. Recently I went into Safeway and purchased a few items. I asked if I could write a check for $20.00 over the amount. The cashier said yes. It was the only check I had. Once I wrote the check, he walked to the manager I am assuming to have it approved and she emphatically said, "no." He tried to persuade her but she wouldn't even listen to an explanation. She was adamant and would not consider it (I have excellent credit). Now, I already had written the check and it was my only one. I walked up to her and asked her why it was denied and she wouldn't give me a reason and looked irritated. I told her that I had been shopping at that particular Safeway for 42 years and I have never had this problem. She didn't care. I told her I wouldn't be shopping at that Safeway again and she said, "that's fine," continuing on with some other task. What has happened to customer service? If she couldn't help me, I understand but she just didn't care enough to listen and to try to resolve this concern. The grocery store has long lines and is expensive. I like and know many of the cashiers. I think they might consider finding a different place to work. After all of these years, I won't be going back to Safeway on Wahsatch no matter how convenient the location is. They lost my business. read more

My review is "not recommended" (?) Why not? It was an honest review - I don't complain simply for the sake of complaining, so allow me to repeat myself (stay away from this store folks): Sorry Safeway. but I truly despise the store at Bon Center on Wahsatch. I made the mistake of stopping in to pick up a few items as I had to be at the bank nearby anyway, and dang it if you made me wish I hadn't. I stopped shopping there years ago because the store simply began to look grimy on any given day, they stopped carrying most of items I need on a regular basis, the prices are nothing to rave about, the produce is often wilted and rather disgusting looking, and the staff are more often than not just plain rude for no reason that I could discern. I realize that customer service is difficult but when you have customers who are respectful and just want to get in and get out, you should probably be thankful. In future I won't be stopping in again even if I need to stop at the bank ATM and drive all the way to King Soopers on 19th street for a few items. This is is how disturbed I am by this particular store. It's close to my home in the Colorado College area, so it really is too bad, but then again, you did it to yourselves. Are you by chance allowing this store to go to the dogs because the store happens to be located in a neighborhood populated by mostly low income elderly retirees? Or are all your stores disgusting? I wouldn't know as I generally only shop in stores nearest my home. It certainly does seem that way. I have nothing but bad things to say about this particular store. In general, I do like the other Safeway stores in Colorado Springs, but this one is poorly run. There is a security guard that will profile you and follow you around the store. They never have the weekly ad offers in stock, or the way the item is advertised is misleading. After yet another disappointing trip there this morning to purchase the "$9.99 after club card and coupon" Pedigree 20lb. bag of dog food that they advertised, only to find out they "sold the last bag yesterday", I vow to never shop at this Safeway again. read more

For some reason, Safeway employees are 100% unable to tell the difference between good produce and rotten produce. If I shop here, it is only for canned or boxed things (on which they usually have the best prices) because their fresh items are just not worth the effort of sifting through for a chance of finding something without mold. I had an employee offer to cut me off a piece of some rotten tropical fruit he said tasted like vanilla pudding. When I turned him down, he bagged it up and told me to take it home to try. I thought maybe, maybe when I get home I will Google it and yes they really look and smell like that when fresh. After a quick search, I threw it straight in the composter. No, brown and squishy is not the same as yellow and firm, and sickly rot is not the normal scent. I have had the same problem with their melons, strawberries, kiwis, bananas and peppers because for some reason I periodically forget and have to be reminded why I don't shop there. read more
