The store has some really great employees who are friendly and genuinely seem to care about helping customers, or at least engage positively, which is always appreciated. Some staff members, however, aren't as engaged or willing to assist. It's a bit frustrating when you ask for help and get an attitude or are interrupted mid-sentence as if your request isn't important. Separately, but just as important, the expression "excuse me" should also be used when an employee steps directly in front of or suddenly pushes their stock cart in the immediate path of a customer's stride. Being brought to an abrupt stop to be met with only silence and a stare resonates as explicit rudeness. Customer service should always be a priority. :) It's disappointing when the experience feels less than professional. If you're not willing to give the job the respect it deserves, perhaps it's time for a change. Would be three stars, if not for the water that was ponding in the produce section. Scheduled with an appointment to have tires installed. When arrived I was told I would have to wait at least 1 1/2 hours for them to even start. Employee did not care and did not even apologize. This Walmart is so different than anyone I've been to. This Walmart is very modern. The parking lot is currently under construction, so you have to park at the very back of the parking lot. They have display models of beds and screen TVs in the Reebok isle. Their freezer section is oddly towards the front of the store. Bring your own bags or be prepared to use the paper ones if you come here. No plastics bags here. read more

We needed a Walmart pronto to grab a bunch of supplies for my sons new place. It was move in day and we needed essentials to restock. Tp, paper towels, dishwasher pods, tissues, air freshners, cleaning supplies, a modem/router, a few seasonings he was low on, baking items, shower curtain liner and hooks - you get the point. I make a shared note and we tear through the aisles grabbing everything we need so we can get in and out. I love a good Walmart run and this location had everything we needed to return home and get his place up and running like a normal residence. They also had the cutest little "Howdy Howdy Howdy" doormat but I wasn't trying to fly home carrying a doormat so sadly the Walmart I checked in at home did not have it. read more

But when you need to get an item, there needs to be a better faster way to get said item... some locked doors don't even have a way to notify anybody and the doors that do have a notified button. We placed a $1300.75 delivery order for a large group trip. This was supposed to be our food for the next four days. The food was supposed to be delivered at 3 pm. We never heard from them and they changed the status to delayed. They then updated the time to 6 pm. 6 comes around and we hear NOTHING. So we have to go into town to go to the store to see what's going on. They say that they saw our order but the system flagged it as fraud. No one ever contacted us about this. They didn't have the order pulled whatsoever. They basically said sorry call customer service. When we called customer service they said there was a driver assigned to the order which means that it should've been pulled. We have been on the phone with Walmart corporate customer service for over an hour. This is absolutely ridiculous. No one in the store was helpful whatsoever. read more

Ok so we will NEVER go back to 8th street walmart, my wife went in and did our monthly shopping she uses (scan and go) so she is scanning each item and putting them in a bag, three security guards show up and start following her thru the store makes her super nervous to have any attention put on her, so she finishes shopping and goes to check out, these three guards come up and accost her for her I.D. ( they have no right to ask) and they say they wanna check to see if she has been trespassed from another store (one she has never ever been to) so they give her the i.d. back as I roll up with the cops the cops tell her she DOES NOT have to show walmart rent-a-pigs anything at all we ask for a manager and they call but no one comes 15 mines we stand there and nothing, so we leave and call them on the phone, NO ONE PICKS UP just rings and rings, 8th street wallmart is screwed that store is HISTORY just close it now and fire all the worthless people inside....placed a complaint at walmart.com well se what happens but I doubt anything will. I love the convenience of living just 10 minutes away from this Walmart, it makes my life easier. I go here for every day grocery shopping such as egg beaters, orange juice, bacon, deli turkey, sliced cheese, fruit, cereal and a bunch of other food items. I usually make a huge grocery run at this Walmart which saves me a trip to other stores. Why go anywhere else when you can get most of your staple items here! The employees here are helpful and willing to answer questions you may have about items in general. The store is pretty well stocked for the most part and kept pretty clean and in order. I really don't have any complaints at all about this Walmart. They're definitely keeping up with the procedures on the Covid thing to make shopping safer and more enjoyable for customers. This Walmart might just be the best Walmart I've ever been to. Not only can you buy groceries here but you can buy clothing, makeup, sports gear, footwear, hunting and hiking gear and a couple of weights when their in stock. Last month I was able to buy a weight bench for lifting weights at only $97 which was an amazing bargain! It's a 2 thumbs way up for this awesome neighborhood Walmart! This Walmart has a great layout and selection of items in all the major department store & food categories at lower prices than Target. Wally World (as my late dad called Walmart) increased the value of their clothing alone (dramatically) in three areas. Walmart surpassed Target in the clothing and at least at this Walmart the best target by far in customer service and employee attitude being positive! The improvement in quality of Walmart's clothing quality is epic! The designs of women's clothing went from fair to excellent depending on the brand and item! Walmart even kept their clothing prices level while adding the aforementioned 3 improvements. Compared to all the other retailers Walmart's clothing started low on price:quality ratio (meaning wasting your $ since 1-2 washes & item faded terribly,!) and in past couple years instantly it seemed they were better than all other similar type Department stores(like target). They also have great clearance deals in clothing, and this store devotes an entire isle to put clearance items from the rest of the departments making clearance items easy to locate. I love to check these out because there are epic deals! read more

It's extremely hostile. the staff is ok and bad. the stupid gates and parking lot cameras make you think your in the ghetto. all the bums around it make you sick. If you go to woodland park or upto monument its like heaven this place is like hell. The shelfs are usually picked clean. They do stock stuff up but its gone fast. Neighborhood Walmart means that I am stopping in for cheap needs, and this WalMart is always well-stocked. I also absolutely LOVE the new self check-out stations that they have. There are so many, and there are a lot of staff on standby to help you out in case you are having trouble with items. I love the order online pickup option. It's super convenient and usually if you check in and let them know you are on the way it's pretty fast! They are not very thorough with their orders. I can always find something I didn't order or something they left out/forgot. Great place when you need general items but definitely can't order all of your protein/meat/seafood and produce here. They really don't have a lot of organic options as far as that goes. I wish they would revamp their produce and meat/seafood section!!!! Side note you can't order actual refill razor blades online for pickup. You have to go in the store and ask someone behind the counter to unlock them to purchase! What a pain... read more

Do not waste your time with curbside pick up. Timeline At 2:30pm was told my order was ready for pick up and to park in space 13. The numbered spaces only go to 10.. off to a good start. Between 2:45 and 3:40 I'm asked 5 times what the name on my order is. Then the same dude would run away inside to grab everyone else's orders. 3:40 I get out and attempt to go get my order myself after seeing all the other people around me coming and going. They tell me "your order isn't ready" I respond with how? "It's been an hour and I was told before I arrived it was." They said "we didn't know you we're here." Don't throw your time away picking up groceries. Just do it yourself and save time. This is a perfect example of no one knows what's going on. read more

We visited this Walmart location (8th Ave) today to buy a whole bunch of fabric for Halloween projects and for many sewing projects we are planning for this fall and winter. We went to the fabric counter with many rolls of fabric we were prepared to buy, yet nobody came to the counter and there was no bell or ringer to ring for assistance. After walking the aisles to finally find an employee we asked her to please page for assistance at the fabric counter. Then we waited another 15 minutes, nobody came!! Went to find another employee to pls page again, which they did. Waited another 15 minutes with our fabric, no one ever came. Finally, frustrated we went to the register to ask a cashier to please find someone to cut our fabric but she said "getting an employee to come to the fabric counter to help customers is like pulling teeth" and walked away, so we ended up putting all these rolls of fabric back; very frustrating experience and horrible waste of our time, to say the least. You could have sold about $200,- worth of fabric today but because of laziness or bad organizational skills, bad Dept.-management etc. we bought nothing! If you do not want to assist customers in the fabric Dept. just get rid of the whole Dept. and let more professional stores make the profit. Apparently Walmart does not want cash anymore. Be sure to take a card because if you like to deal in cash you will be required to stand in line. The self check outs are all set to accept cards only, no cash back, they do not accept cash. I don't know if it is just this walmart or if they are all changing to cashless transactions. The employee's are like piranhas. I've worked retail, I know how much it sucks. I know that dealing with thousands of people on a daily basis can be frustrating, I understand. Still, the employee's in this store seek conflict. Not all of them, I don't want to generalize. There's some very helpful people at the self checkout. They've been very cool, do their jobs and don't try to mess your day up. Then there's the others. They will try to cause a conflict with you. Passive aggressive to outright aggressive. Every time I go into the store I feel like I'm on the warpath, on the defensive, just waiting to be swarmed, literately yelled at, stopped in my tracks, or told that "I'm cheating the system." for purchasing a product with my own money. This place has serious problems with the staff and their rudeness. I'm never buying more than 5 products when I go in, sometimes just the one, I'm in and out, never more than 10 minutes in the store. Yet somehow some staff member is going to see me and say to themselves "Yeah, I'm going to try to mess with this guy. Because I'm miserable, so he should be also." Mind my own business, try to purchase products with my own money, get out as quick as possible and 4/5 times I'm harassed by a staff member. I don't leave yelp reviews, never have. But honestly, you people need to leave me alone, I've never experienced such awful staff interactions ever, anywhere else, including other walmarts. You can just be walking and boom, out of nowhere, there's some 5,4 employee with a vest who's going to yell at you from across the aisle, or come running up to you to tell you what to do. Like no, leave me alone. Their electronics department is awful too, the employees who work it are not knowledgeable at all about the products. This one guy gave me such a hard time for trying to purchase an electronic. He started an argument, and tried to get me to call a manager so I could complain. I didn't want to complain, I didn't want an argument. I wanted to purchase my product and then leave your store. I could see the wheels turning in his head, "How can I make this guy miserable." I declined to call a manager, I'm not someone who likes to complain, or make an employee look bad, or cause a fuss. The opposite. Even as I walked away after just paying for what I wanted the employee was yelling at me from the counter, trying to pull me back in, trying to cause a verbal altercation. Unbelievable. Then after dealing with that guy, I had to deal with the receipt checkers, no one likes the receipt checkers here. They're like attack dogs, I've had perfectly fine interactions with receipt checkers at other walmarts. I always have my receipt out in hand, I'm not looking for trouble, I'm a good little compliant consumer. Doesn't matter here, they are out for blood. And always, always the passive aggressive "Have a nice day!" after I try to get out of the interaction as quickly as possible. Walking into this walmart makes you feel like a woman in a bad neighborhood who's always getting catcalled. It's that bad. Stay away, that's my advice. At the end of the day, these people are powerless, and it makes them try to exercise power they don't have. I've seen it when I worked in retail, I know the feeling. This is my nearest Walmart--only a couple minutes from home. I tend to avoid it because it's just so big and strange and, frankly, I prefer Target. There are times, though, when it's just stupid to go far out of my way to pick up something I need and running into Walmart just makes sense. Parking is a nightmare unless you're visiting very early or very late at night. The lot is a mess of carts and trash and fast food bags. Management doesn't care about loitering and it's common to find transients just standing or sitting around the north entrance. Employees and non-workers alike smoke very close to the doorways. I've seen cops and ambulances at the entrances pretty frequently because of a fight or drug overdose. I wish I was kidding about that. The South entrance is better, though when the weather is warm you'll certainly find someone there peddling for cash for some unknown charity. At either entrance, you still get that strange Walmart Scent when you walk in. After around 10pm there is usually only register open (the one where you can buy cigarettes) and the line gets crazy long. This Walmart isn't a pleasant place. If you go, go with a plan and a purpose and maybe even a map of the most efficient routes to the products you need. read more

Cashiers, customer service, aisles are organized and clean. And Walmart is the only place where i come across the oddest/ weirdest looking people. So going there is always a fun moment. Busy location at the junction of an interstate and state highway...busy location along a railway and river/tributary. Been shopping here for 17 years. Employee's are constantly busy with the store maint./stocking, and have little time to approach shoppers. Usually find what I need, or get direction/escort from employees when I cannot find it. They are polite and professional if you are to them. Other than my size of clothing always out of stock (not thier fault, I am just 'that' size) I have no complaints about the merchadise area. Grocery side always looks very good (they just remodeled as well), and the deli samiches are fresh (or marked discount if getting near exp.) Great breads from the bakery! As mentioned by others, the homeless/beggars are rampant in the area..read my first sentance above. And as always, lots of "people of Walmart" to watch and enjoy. read more

Made a quick stop in here for a few groceries after checking out the Humane Society just down the side street. This is a much better Wal-Mart as far as Wal-Marts go, especially compared to the one on Razorback Rd. (northern Colorado Springs). The store is lager overall, the grocery section is much larger, their fresh produce seems to be a bit better and the store overall seemed a little bit cleaner. There are better grocery stores out there though. This store suffers from the same quality issues that all Wal-Marts suffer from. read more
