I used Safeway driving school in Simi Valley for my teenaged son's driver training. From day 1 communication from staff was clear, professional, and prompt. My son had James as the driving instructor and he was excellent. My son felt very comfortable with him and was well prepared for the behind the wheel test. After each lesson James made sure to provide us with thorough feedback and areas to work on. James was very knowledgeable of the routes and details of the test, which helped my son pass first try with only minor points taken off. I just signed up my 2nd teenager for the program. Definitely recommend going here for driving lessons! I took 8 sessions from various instructors, but I would say that James Hatfield is the best instructor! I took my last 3 sessions with him and he's helped me immensely! My fourth session consisted of an hour of practice before my DMV test, and he reassured me that everything will be ok and that I know this stuff when pertaining to driving (I have horrible anxiety so hearing that from him made me feel a whole lot better) and with him being by my side, I passed!!! I never thought that I could do it, all thanks to him! Besides him being a great instructor, he is personable, understanding, and overall an amazing person to talk to. 10/10 recommend this place and this instructor!! read more

The girl Marilyn was a perfect helper I lost my pink slip and she showed and help me thought out everything with getting it back when everything was issued etc. I also got a huge lesson from her she helped me understand a lot more about the road and all the rules and regulations. She also answered all the questions I asked her and knew her stuff. If I had anyone to call it would be her if you have questions and want to be treated like a human, unlike the DMV. Great service and instruction. My son took the package of three lessons. He had zero driving experience before he went to Safeway. Diana was his instructor and she did a great job teaching him how to drive safely. When I drive with him, I am amazed at how well he drives. Thank you Diana for these lifelong lessons! He passed his road test easily. The business itself is also extremely well-run, phones always answered, polite staff, organized, helpful. They made it easy for me to sign up and get started with the driving lessons. I requested for a male instructor and got William. He was patient and encouraging. He made sure he was clear with the tips and gave me skills to use for the rest of my life not and not just to pass the DMV test. I'd recommend them and suggest you use the car you practice in for the DMV test. I passed the test yesterday and I think it was because they helped me be stay cool, calm and confident. read more

I really like Safeway Driving School. I purchased the combination pack of both on-line driving course (you can take a one day class at their facility or do it on-line) and the three block class for driving instruction. I think I paid roughly $350 for my daughter a few years ago and paid something similar for my son, who is taking his second two-hour driving class in a few weeks. The people that work in the office are always friendly and able to accommodate me with scheduling the classes and the instructors are all friendly and professional. Hopefully my son will be taking his final class later in the summer, prior to getting his driver's license. I would highly recommend this school! read more

My daughter just passed her driving test on her first try. Her teacher Barbara was so patient and positive and taught my daughter to drive so well. Donna was wonderful about scheduling and confirming appointments. Their cars are nice and clean and they pick up and drop off from the house. My daughter felt so prepared the day of her test. I couldn't be more thankful to Safeway Driving School for all of their guidance through the whole process from permit to license. I bought 12 hours and it was worth every penny. After finishing my written test, I did extensive research on driving schools. I picked Safeway based on their reviews and their prices were also the least when compared to other schools in Simi Valley. I opted for their 6 hour driving lessons. I had 3 different teachers for my 3 classes and all of them were fantastic! They are detail oriented, patient, clear and make sure you understand. They taught me to drive on the highway, DMV area to familiarize with the roads. Since I didn't have a car for the test I also picked their '1 hour practice before the test + using their car for the test' package (I don't remember the exact name :D) which was very helpful! They booked my DMV appointment since I was using their car and were very nice when I had to change my dates for the test and driving classes. I give them the credit for passing my test in the first try and would recommend them everyone. read more

My son took his first driving lesson last week with Britt. She was AMAZING! My son connected with her right away. She taught him so much all while camping his nerves and giving him confidence. This business was EXCELLENT from the very first time that I called. My son turned 16 on thanksgiving and to make my sons birthday extra special, they found an appointment the day before his birthday (it was set for 4 days after), just so he could start driving.
