The food I ordered was first time ordering (when hungry lol) honey walnut shrimp, 4 shrimp tempura) ok I can tell it had been sitting for a while - that's the reason for the 3/5. When I was in Seattle, Washington, I went in here to buy some groceries. I had to buy water, some lemons, and other produce. It was the easiest place for me to go to. I don't live in Seattle and when my job sent me here to work, I was thankful to know that there was a grocery store that Im familiar with. It's a typical Safeway with the typical grocery store layout. It's clean. Organized and it was well lit nicely. The workers are friendly. I enjoy my experience here. read more

Don't shop here they are trying to rip off their customers. On multiple occasions I have rung up items that have a higher price than on the sale tag. Turns out they leave the sale tags on items after the sale is over and than do not honor them. If your not careful you will end up paying way more than you expect and staff refuse to honor shown price because its expired. I've checked and they leave tags up for weeks and months just to get you to buy more of an item you think is on sale. read more

The Safeway on Highway 99 in Edmonds has been one of the Safeway locations I have frequented when living in the Shoreline area. The parking lot can be tight to pull and out of, though there tends to be open parking spaces and the spaces/parking aisles themselves are relatively easy/straightforward to maneuver. The store front has been clearly marked and easy to access. Sections within the store are well labeled and offerings diverse. Some items sell out faster than others, but I have not found there to be big hinderances in purchasing a certain item. If sold out in one brand, I might go with another. On my most recent visit, on Thursday 28 December 2023, I got a MrBeast (who has over 220 million subscribers on YouTube as of writing this review on Saturday 30 December 2023) chocolate bar. Three of the four flavors were sold out, but I was happy to find a number of the milk chocolate bars left. The packaging and bar were not damaged in any way. So today I was leaving the store, taking my groceries to my car with a shopping cart. I got about 5 feet out the door when the wheels of the cart LOCKED and an alarm sounded inside the store. I waited for a bit for an employee to help, but no one came so I had to carry 4 HEAVY grocery bags to my car. I know they put theft protection devices on the carts to keep them from being stolen. I have always been able to take groceries to my car with a cart and leave the cart in the corral in the parking lot. If they are going to have this system they should at least have employees respond when the alarm goes off so they can help customers. I know they really don't care about their customers, but it would be nice to at least not be treated like a criminal. read more

Health code violation. I am willing to overlook other issues but I have a problem when a store not only ignores a health code violation, but seems to endorse it. No dog should ever be in a grocery cart where you put your food. This is a major health code violation that the store seems to ignore. I don't usually shop at Safeway because their prices are a little steep, but I had a coupon for a free drink, so I stopped in. The store was nice and clean although it took me a while to find what I wanted. I didn't encounter any employees but I found my item. The checker was really nice and I was happy that my Safeway Club membership is still valid because I only paid 26 cents for two bottled drinks. I ran in after 10 pm to get some to save time without having to go out of my way. $6 for a quart of OJ for the same brand that down the street is $3. Nice cashier but no plan to come back here because of the prices. No, not organic or specialty OJ either. 20 people deep in the shortest line? Only 3 cashiers? Someone gets on the intercom calling for cashiers and nobody shows up? Opening the customer service area to ring up people? The stipulation for opening this up was 10 items or less and items that didn't have to be weighed and then that cashier services a lady with nothing but vegetables that had to be weighed. Next thing you know she's running all over the place just to help someone that doesn't know or care to follow directions. The one star is actually for her being nice since this customer was an old bat who thought the cashier was running off with her food and she was like, but wait, I need to pay you! I would love to include all the expletives that my better half has for this place. We actually boycotted Safeways because someone in the west Seattle store decided that handling our food while scratching his junk INSIDE HIS UNDERWEAR was a good idea. We thought, we just need garlic and rosemary, how hard can this be? This is a nice Safeway. Clean and spacious. The produce and meat selection is consistently fresh and tasty. Prices are higher than other grocery stores for sure but you're getting a good value for your money. The deli meats and cheeses vary in selection and price and I can always find unique cheeses. I appreciate the liquor and wine selection and they usually have some good deals with the "club" card. The staff need some work. They aren't helpful and seem to be annoyed to be there. Tonight when I came in, I didn't get a cart and after checking out, had several bags of food. Heavy items too and all three of the guys standing there just watched me walk on by without an offer of help. I just think it's poor customer service. My mom, aunt and uncle all worked at the Safeway in my hometown while I was growing up and so i have a soft spot for Safeway but it's really just the little things that can really help a business stand out. Yikes can you say steep ?? I remember a time when Safeway wasn't as expensive as it is today. Now I can without a doubt say they have passed QFC in prices. This review isn't solely for the prices though but also the lack of effort from multiple team members. My first point of contact was the service deli. I asked the clerk at the counter if they had any of the sweet and sour chicken. Thinking it may have been sold out I was preparing myself for that. Keep in mind I'm never here when it's dinner time and the deli is usually closed when I'm here because of work hours. She asked the other gal who was in the back cooking and then came up and said sorry hun my Chinese chef called out and we have a substitute she says she's not making the sweet and sour chicken. I was super bummed out. I get it things happen but to not even offer a substitution ? Safeway employees have been talking about strikes lately because they want hire wages. Some people deserve these but deli? I think not. Anyway I opted for Something else and went about my business. Upon pursuing the aisles I made a mental note of how pricy everything was. I will not visit a Safeway again unless it is an absolute necessity which is RARE. Fred Meyer is closer and cheaper. Only reason I was here was because I was picking something up from a store in this strip mall. I also needed trash bags but passed when I realized a box of 20 gallon bags were almost 8$ and that's for store brand! A small bottle of tide detergent is 8.99 here and 5.99 at Fred Meyer. 4.97 at Walmart and Winco/ this is how expensive it is here. Also everyone looks like they hate their jobs. There's no self checkout and always a long line when there's only 2 checker lanes open. Hire people who actually WANT to work. I love my Safeway here in Edmonds. It's clean and organized. I know my aisles and where everything is located. It almost feels like walking into my own pantry kinda deal. I absolutely love the service here. Staff is always helpful and offer help out. I truly appreciate that. I never worry about leaving anything behind as I've done before because they will gladly assist me when I return. Prices are always reasonable as well and often they have lots of sale. Screw this place!, I've been coming for a couple of years now and damn.... I'm sick and tired of waiting 15 minutes to get checked out. The store isn't really that bad variety wise, I mean they have basically everything that I am looking for on a weekly basis but why is it that every time I am ready to check out they are 4 carts deep with only 1 or 2 check stands open but they always have 2 express lanes open for the people that aren't spending the big bucks??? Then, after spending 150.00 to 200.00 the courtesy clerk always asks the same thing " do you want help out?". This shouldn't bother me much since chances are I would probably push the cart out anyway, but my thinking is that if the order is big enough that you are going to ask then just do it! Yesterday I went to pick up some basics. They had no milk. NO MILK. It was like a barren wasteland. Empty racks as far as the eye could see....except a couple of quarts of milk. So I had to buy a quart. Who the hell buys a quart of milk? NO ONE. Needless to say, I was not happy. It isn't as though it was a holiday or something. It was December 13, the most random day of all time. They also did not have three other things I was looking for - seems like they need to restock better at this location. The woman at the checkout clearly hates her job. I asked her how she was doing, she replied with "Better" (whatever that means), and proceeded to not say another single word to me the rest of the time I was at the checkout. AWKWARD. The time before that, the teenager at the register complained me to about how badly she wanted to go home. Despite this store being two minutes from my apartment, I will be going to Fred Meyer from now on because I am tired of excessively long lines, out of stock items, and weird employees. read more

This review is for their pharmacy, not the grocery store in general. My family has been using this pharmacy for years. I grew up in a house down the road from it, it takes our insurance - we're loyal customers. So when I moved back to the area after several years away, I figured it was the best place to go. Nope. They are always slooooooooow. Even when you've gotten a phone call saying your prescription is ready, you might get there and have to wait for them to fill it. Even if it is filled, and your insurance hasn't changed, and your card/cash is out and ready, for some reason, it takes at least five minutes to get you checked out. And it isn't because of their checkout system, either. Your insurance change? How about your name? Address? Just your phone number? Expect it to take another ten minutes. At least. And then expect to give it to them again the next five times you go in. My wife and I are both on a few different medications, and every time our dose changes, we have to make multiple visits and phone calls before it gets through that the dose changed. No one who works there is rude, but they always seem rushed and a bit unorganized. If they're at the other end of the checkout counter, it's a bit difficult to get their attention, and they don't really make sure to check if anyone is waiting, so add another few minutes if that's the case (which it is more often than not). It seems convenient since you can grocery shop and fill prescriptions at the same time, but it's actually become easier and faster for me to make the drive down to Edmonds Way and drive through Walgreen's. They're a bit more on top of their game. If you have one or two constant prescriptions that never change and all of your personal/insurance information stays the same, and you have ten minutes to spare waiting to get your prescriptions, this place would work for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere, you'll just end up frustrated here. read more

Do you ever return things at a grocery store? Well, I never do - well, until yesterday. I bought some things for a party and ended up finding something better somewhere else. Guess what? I lost my receipt. Was it a problem? Nope! I called in and everything was figured out over the phone, and when we came in later - everything was super quick and easy. Other than the awesome customer service, the store is always clean. The clientele is interesting at times and can be entertaining to watch. Other than Trader Joe's, Safeway is the place I go for the stuff I need. Considering it's a 5 minute drive/15 minute walk from my house, I'll keep coming here. read more

This Safeway is not awesome. I mean, it has food and beverages for sale, but it's not super clean. I don't recommend using the bathroom unless you are in a desperate state. The hot bar food and deli food are also just ok. The bakery smells good, but I don't do enough yoga to eat that stuff. read more

This isn't a review so much as a tip for the ladies: hot men shop here on (sunny) weekend afternoons. This must be where they come to get their beer and weiners because this place is usually crawling with hot dudes on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I come here at least once a weekend for produce, and there's always a bundle of hot men. Since Albertson's bought out Safeway, prices here have gone though the roof! Consumer's Checkbook lists Safway/Albertsons as the most expensive stores in the area other than PCC and Whole Foods. Even premium QFC is 19% cheaper! This is a premium price store but the food is not premium. Produce is only so/so. Meat is lower quality. Checkout lines are long. I only buy Just 4 U specials sometimes but seriously Fred Meyer, Winco have far better prices. Fred Meyer produce is much better. A lot of sketchy customers shop here at night. read more
