Even when I reported this to one of the workers they just looked at it, told me to grab another to go plate box, and threw it in the trash. Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #103 This review is specifically for the BF Cafe & Bakery located inside the Edmonds Ranch 99. I wouldn't normally get boba here, but Ranch 99 was offering a $2 boba promotion at BF Cafe with $30 grocery purchase. I might as well try the place for just $2. Green Milk Tea ($2) - Strangely enough, the first flavor to emerge is the taste of coffee. I wonder if there is some contamination going on here. Perhaps the water dispenser they use for the tea is the same as the coffee. After the coffee taste, there's a bit of smokiness and bitterness. Finally, a layer that's like an unpleasant concentration of Chinese herbs. Like a mixture of wolfberry, jujube, and whatever else is in a Chinese herbal medicine concoction. It's not a pleasant taste and reminds me of what my parents used to treat me with when sick as a child. I didn't adjust the sweetness, but it's surprisingly not very sweet. Probably 25% sweetness compared to most boba shops. The boba is not made in house and is preportioned in plastic packs, like in premade boba kits. The texture is decent, perhaps a bit leathery and firm in chew, but decent bounce levels. Since they only use a single pack of boba for a 22 ounce drink, there's not nearly enough (typically a single pack is for a powdered 11 ounce drink). Milk Tea Rating: 1.5/5 Boba Rating: 3/5 So yeah, the drinks served here aren't the best. I haven't bought any pastries or bread from BF Cafe, but I'm sure they are better. read more

Have loved their fruit cakes so I gave their Cappuccino Cake a try (receipt noted cappuccino while display case noted mocha). Tasted like cheap instant coffee, very bitter and grainy. Appreciate that they provide a plastic serving utensil, I would only recommend their fruit cakes. read more

Ok I would recommend 99 Ranch on the basis of the grocery store. Love the selection and the prices are incredible. I'm very familiar with 99s in CA so was excited to finally make the trek here. We made the mistake of ordering from the Hot Deli. Or, should I say hubby made the mistake. There were no signs for what was in the buffet. Some items were more guessable than others but it's kind of important for some people to KNOW. Food overall was 'meh.' Spring rolls were soggy, noodles were super bland, chicken wings were maybe the best item because they had the least done to them. There was also a dish that looked like scrap poultry pieces in brown sauce? The lady behind me asked if a fried flat piece of something was fish. The server said 'yes' but when asked what kind of fish it was, she didn't know. Overall, I guess for $13.99 for all you can cram into the box, it's an ok deal. But, for me who was craving Asian and had a lunch spot picked out (which we won't be visiting now) this was pretty sad. read more

If you're around the Adams area, this is your local Asian supermarket and where you'll get your groceries. There honestly aren't that many choices for Asian grocery stores you so typically you will go to the closest one for anything that you need. I've started alternating between coming here and ordering on weee. But they have an amazing selection here and it's almost never full. The prices are just a little bit more expensive than I'd like. There is plenty of parking in this lot. Although there are a few other businesses, I've never had an issue finding a spot. I have been to many 99 ranch markets on the West Coast for decades! This one in Edmonds is close to my area so I go there all the time for years. Always appreciated the variety of food and the competitive pricing here. There is also a bakery where you can purchase Asian pastries and a cafeteria where you can purchase ready-to-eat cooked dishes. It can get quite crowded during weekends but it was OK when we went there on a Tuesday afternoon. According to my mom, she enjoys a 5% senior discount on Tuesdays. In general, this market is clean and spacious. However, it is not uncommon to find staff mistakes such as marked-down prices not showing up when ringing up at the register or you can not find the prices for items on the rack (see pictures as an example) which all cause a lot of confusions. Adventured to the 99 Ranch Market in Edmonds on Highway 99 yesterday evening to check it out and get a few spontaneous picks. The parking lot is a shared lot and was well-marked. The entrance was about center under the the 99 Ranch Market sign on the building. Once inside, finding my way around was relatively straightforward and items were methodically sectioned. Fun to see the seafood tanks with live seafood in them. The workers were friendly and professional. I went with a Daifuku mochi aka (red bean cake and a product of Japan), which was located near the Tillamook cheese. The price was $2.59 and it was absolutely delicious. The mochi was soft and thick enough I could taste the mochi and the red bean filling smooth and sweet. I also got Butterfly tamarind candy (Tiao Peng Trading Inc. and a product of Thailand). Price was $1.59. The flavor was intense and made my eyes water in a good way, and the packaging was very cool. read more

Bought a Hello Kitty type container with chocolate inside. These chocolates tasted soapy-had another person try one and they said it tasted soapy too. Returned to store to talk with employee but there was no one at customer service desk and an employee walking by didn't seem interested in figuring out this mystery. Went about shopping purchasing beautiful gold foil fish that are chocolate-living dangerously but hey these couldn't taste soapy too? Yep, fish were soapy, so I tried a piece of Hershey choc. at home to compare which was delish. Living nearby, I've had the luxury of accessible Asian groceries all the time. I come by less often these days but I still remember all the great experiences wandering around, finding nostalgic good I've had in Taiwan, stuffing my to-go container at the hot deli, and the amazing bakery that used to (maybe still does) have half off after 7pm or so. It's always a good time here exploring new and old goods alike. They have senior discounts early in the week and now college student discounts Fridays. So I just left this store horrible customer service maybe never want to go back to this place again. So I walked to the lady putting the produce away to ask if they had something in stock she walked away walking towards the back another lady was walking towards the back to that worked there I was asking her excuse me they both ignored me kept walking towards it back stuck her hand out and said "no go away." I was shocked at first so it took me a moment before I said okay never mind I'll just leave if they don't want my business. A few seconds later saw her come back so I walked back to her and asked her "is that how they treat customers?" I come here to get ingredients to cook for my roommate from Singapore. Unfortunately, i have bought moldy tofu and past dated food here for sale, advertised as fresh, within the date of expiration. Only until I get home, does the spoiled goods show their rottenness. I have had good luck with the hot bar. Seemly fresh food plus soup for about 16.00. A great bargain. After my hot meal, went to the bakery to buy a durian pastry. Pretty much ignored until I left with the pastry go to the regular register. Then, the staff acted hostile after ignoring me for 15 minutes while I tried to pay. Hey bakery workers, I tried to pay, but you deliberately ignored me. I have been coming here for 10+ years. The customer service is mediocre at best. But the roasted duck was what brought me back again and again. But recently the duck has not been good. I just got my second duck since their "duck cook" has retired. The new cook is making duck that just isn't as flavorful as before and the duck we got yesterday tastes burned. Such a wide selection of veggies, fruit and produce! Prices can vary so beware. The frozen durian is really good but on my recent trip, I didn't look to see if they have it still. Sometimes, they are as low as $4.99 a lb. It's typically by the seafood tank area towards the back. 90 percent of the time, they are excellent. Creamy, custard like, lovely splurge. It's the ultimate! Glad they have a good fresh selection on other tropical produce like mangosteen, persimmons, lychee, longan, young coconut, guava etc at a decent price. Love their huge mushroom section besides the norm like fresh oyster, enoki, shiitake, and even fresh wood ear mushrooms. They have a section devoted to Chinese greens. I like it's kept dry inside the bags so it stays fresh longer. My only wish is they have an organic section. For Chinese hot pot lovers, there's now a plethora of hot pot thinly sliced meat items in their newer island freezer section with sliding doors. Our fav is the Berkshire pork it's delicious!! Fatty and flavorful it's perfect for Szechuan style HP. Not sure why they have everything but sliced chicken meat. Bargain: 99cents rose brand flat rice noodles on the end cap of the fridge section by produce. It's not expired. It's typically over $4 per pack. Mango by the case is cheap here.. and bagged oranges are super delish if you're into citrus. The live crab here is like half the price of T and C Market. Love the big selection of ramens from all over Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand etc etc. And...Asian snack galore. Love the jackfruit chips from Vietnam, calbee brand chips, shrimp chips and mini Italian square lemon wafers. Kinda spendy but I watch the sales on snacks. They rotate what goes on sale then I stock up. They have an amazing Asian bakery. They run around $3.29 per pastry self serve pre packed. The wife pastry (Hong Kong classic) by the bakery register is $2 something each it's super yum... Got a pound of roasted pork belly at the deli for like $15 a lb. The skin wasn't crispy but it was still delicious. You get to choose the right or left side of where the bottom of what's left of the pig. You can ask to have it be cut up in smaller bite size chunks then they go at it in their big meat cleavers. The butcher didn't speak any English or Cantonese but he found a translator. Good to eat on its own. The checkout line can look like a mile long they have online grocery app but no self check out lane. They don't have courtesy clerks I offered to help bag to quicken the process. Overall, this place is decent! And lots of good restaurants nearby perfect for an "Asian day" outing. Bring a cooler, shop then hop over to T and T to have dim sum. Parking can be challenging on the weekends! read more

Both 99 Ranch Markets in the area are far from home, but when I am near one of them, inevitably, I will walk away with at least $40 to $50 worth of purchases. This location is the roomiest Asian market with wide aisles that are easy to maneuver. I don't know if it's the time that I go, but it's never too busy. Because I live a bit further away, the departments that I frequent the most are dry goods, produce, pastries, and non-perishables. I buy fresh seafood such as live crabs too. If I plan ahead and have a cooler bag with me, then I'll shop frozen and refrigerated items also. One department that I never buy from is meat; I don't buy meat from any of the Asian markets except Uwajimaya. Pay close attention; most do not have USDA ratings. I love checking out all the junk food and ramen that are typically "end cap specials" that run along the left side (left when you enter) that continues along the front edge. Produce prices are very good and quality tends to be consistent. Be aware that for all perishable foods including can goods, etc., if the price is too good to be true, then the expiration date is very, very near. I always check out their pastry department. There's always something to buy. The buns, soft bread types, go on sale at BOGO free starting at 7pm. I don't typically need customer "service". I don't expect them to be nice when their prices are way better than Uwajimaya. I might be too practical and/or cynical. read more

Am a fan of Ranch 99 in other locations (Texas and California), but this one is comparatively more disorganized, aged, and has much fewer ready-made food options. But let's be real, you are coming for the following reasons: 1. Cheapest tofu (that I've found) in the greater Seattle area. I challenge you to find cheaper options. 2. Cheapest Lao Gan Ma chili oil with black bean, which is the under recognized, but vastly superior relative of the much lauded Lao Gan Ma spicy chili crisp. IYKYK. 3. Can buy moon cakes here year round at the bakery. 4. If you so desire, you can also buy a whole roast pig here (!) 5. Produce generally cheaper than Uwajimaya. Quality is also generally lower, so be ready to pick over the options. Few additional notes: 1. Can bring your own grocery bags, but you will be bagging yourself per current Ranch 99 pandemic policy. 2. Can stop by 85°C Bakery Cafe, which is in the same plaza! Overall review: 3/5. I have been purchasing via their online sore and in person many times. This is by far the worst experience ever. I placed an online order on July 30th. Immediately after I placed the order, I wanted to edit my order. I called the phone number provided via order confirmation several times but no one answered. I wrote an email to the email provided on confirmation right away to request cancelation. No one replied after I sent 3 emails. Then, I was informed package was on the way to me. The online experience is very bad. I will not suggest to purchase via their online store. There is no way to make changes and no one could suppot. read more

This is a great grocery store. You'll find a wide assortment of specialty ingredients from all over Asia. If you're a noodle lover make your way to the fresh noodle aisle. You'll find authentic and fresh ramen noodles (none of the fat in the fried packaged kind) and more than a dozen styles of other noodles. Fresh noodles cost much less than the prepared ones. Buy some sauces, stir fry some veggies, you can even get pre-cooked tofu and enjoy :) They have a wide range of spices, sauces, and fresh veggies. There's also a small in-store bakery and takeout section. A great way to sample some good then come back and make the dishes for yourself. This is an ethnic grocery store. Expect the layout to be a little different than what you might have in your neighborhood. Savor the differences. You can try a lot of very unique food items, snacks, and more. When my child was small we did "interesting fruit" day. Trying something new that you couldn't find in a traditional grocery. Have some fun. If I was a three-star, middle-of-the road person, which I'm not, I would give this place three stars, but I can't stand irresolution, so this place gets the benefit of the doubt. Very busy store and very heavy with the international foods. They still have lotto and a customer service counter like Fred Meyer. This is the only store that I've ever seen so much fresh ginseng in one place. Expensive. About $40 a pound, most of it American Ginseng from Wisconsin. They way they have it cut, it looks like you put it in your tea. Anyway, they have more international foods here than any other place around, but that's not why I shop here. I go here because it's my after-store visit to the Huang-Chen foot spa, which is two doors down to the south. The only way to get here from southbound 99 is to turn at the 224th Street left-turn light, then make a right into the driveway, as there is a concrete barrier from there all the way down to 228th. Otherwise, it's an easy turn-in from northbound 99 north of 228th to 224th, just past the 76 gas station. read more

This is one of the two 99 Ranch Market in the Seattle area. Very clean and well organized. Similar to those in San Francisco Bay Areas, and much better than those older 99 Ranch Market in Los Angeles areas. This Ranch 99 Market In Edmonds, WA is in a very beautiful area together with an 85 degrees Bakery, a Chinese Dim Sum Restaurant, plus a few more shops and restaurants in the mall. The store is very clean and carries almost everything you need for Asian kitchens. Of course, they have all the normal supermarket items. Very well organized and convenient shopping experience. One of the very nice section in this 99 Ranch is their bakery department. This is the best bakery department I have ever been inside the supermarkets or even compared to the other 99 Ranch Markets I have visited in the United States. Highest quality at a very reasonable price. No wonder the 85 degrees Bakery is very slow! lol! read more

I bought a lot of stuff right before the order of stay at home. I didn't pay much attention of produced time. There is a pack of snack. I opened the package and found the smell not right. I didn't find the produced time. I opened another canned fish. I suddenly found the produced date was 2017-3-26 and need to eat before 2020-3-25. While I bought several cans of this stuff at 2020-3-24. There are more on their shelf. apparently they are put on the side shelf as a promotion spot. I will just say to be careful if you go to this store. They have all kind of traps waiting for you. read more

Used to be an okay Asian market the first year or two it was here. But it's showing it's age now. Cleanliness is fair to poor. Produce is marginal. Meat is all over the place in term of quality. Goes from good (free range chicken--brown chicken is usually free range, so I am assuming this is too) to awful (rabbit from China). Seafood is similar to meat but with more items on the "no thanks" end of spectrum. There's a good variety of packaged foods, but the prices have gone up considerably and aren't really good prices now. Didn't try the food court or the bakery. Parking on weekends is horrible. It's okay most weekdays. I used to come here for lower prices on Asian ingredients. But with the decline in cleanliness and the increase in prices, I'll probably just continue to go to H Mart and Uwajimaya. read more

My wife is in town for a couple nights and went to the hot deli section to buy a roasted duck. They told her that they didn't have any duck. She sent me this picture of 7 ducks. Why do people in service act like this? I called them a bit later to ask why they said that they didn't have duck when indeed they did. The lady I spoke to said that when my wife was there they did have some but now they ran out so they are sorry that whoever was working gave her wrong information. The 99 here is pretty on par with the ones in California in terms of selection, but the pricing is a little inflated up. Especially certain items. I noticed some Taiwanese snacks are like 1-2 bucks in California, but up here is like 3-4! That's a pretty big price difference. I'll keep this one short. Overall, great that there is a 99 ranch up here to serve the needs of Asian grocery items, but pricing could be better. But there isn't much other competition in the area, so no need to.
