I really like this location. The food seems to always be in date and fresh. At one point and time this location quit carrying the grapes I liked but about a month later it appeared they switched to a different company. The store manager is friendly and the cashiers all seem nice. This location can get busy on the weekends but they stay open until 11pm so it's easy to go when they are less busy. The bakery and deli at this location is also fantastic. I've been to some bad Safeways but this one is great! read more

I think that Safeway is a great neighborhood store, but the amount of people talking about the ambiance is bad. They are saying that the parking lots are messed up and need fixing. The manager always says that they have discussed it and will fix it, but it has not changed. Every time I go it is the same bumps and curves that need to be fixed. Most time have items needed but lately been short stuff just two things I have issues about most times only one cashier and I do not use self checkout as save no time and customers do all the work ha ha never understood how people got fooled into that ha ha and certain cashiers do not bag your items I put my bags on counter as they scan items do payment a few times they just look at me if I bag my stuff too slow as if a bad back it's not set up to reach items easy but other times they bag items for you like always in the past ha ha and seeing security patrols in store now cost of that do maintenance on parking lot as been bad a while why have a truck but the self checkout bugs me more like tsa at airports read more

-BE AWARE- My husband went to this location today to grab some quick lunch for us, we shop at this location all the time. He purchased one of the large $5 subs for our kids... thankfully I have a very picky eater so I I had dismantle the sandwich to make it to his liking. There was flat dead cockroach in the sandwich bag! I called Safeway and I talked to a male manager that said I could get a refund, but didn't sound surprised that this had happened. I'm not in the least worried about the $5 refund but I hope others are aware and check their grab and go foods. Personnel management is lacking. Between 3pm and 6pm is usually a rush for most stores including this one but only staffing the deli with one person is not a wise decision. I'm sure there is an excuse about hiring, or some other explanation, but in the end it's an excuse and we all know the value of that. read more

Had my husband run in for a few things and they were out of half my list. When he asked about the produce and other items the employee said "I guess everyone just bought it all up." No mention of the next delivery, if there was any in the back... nothing. That was it. Either management is the issue or these people really just hate their jobs. Used to spend upwards of $800 per month at this location but with the many issues I have experienced in the past - plus another this evening - we are taking our business elsewhere. This Safeway is close to my home, and I shop here on a regular basis. The employees are friendly and the food is fresh, but I'm very disappointed to be denied service at the Customer Service Department before they closed at 8pm. I rushed to the store to try and make it before 8pm to get a money order. I arrived before 8pm and was told that reports are run at 7:45 and I was unable to get the money order. I am the General Manager of a restaurant in the Springs. We close at a certain time, yes, but we take orders until that time. I would expect to be able to order anything Customer Service offers--until they close at 8pm. read more

I wanted to give a review a while ago about an instance I had with a checker coming out of the back while I waited there for someone to help me grab a creamer from the far back. The lady said she's on a break and kept walking. A customer overheard and was like "REALLY" at the associate and she climbed her body into the creamer fridge and grabbed it for me while the associate sat there and watched. But I didn't review then because the store isn't as bad as the review I was feeling. But today I felt the need to post my review. The checker embarrassed me when he said the buy one get one free meat had to be the same meat and weight. I'd never heard of that. They all have buy on free stickers and I thought you just paid for the more expensive and the lessor was free. He said no and I had to ask him to take it off. I decided to call the meat department as I was putting my groceries into the car because it didn't seem the checker was correct, he seemed to be having a bad day taking it out on me and I wanted to just double check. The meat department said no that's not correct and I could come back in and he would take care of me. I went in and showed him the meat (which was actually included) he walked me up to the front, bagged them and gave me the meat. I am so grateful! I didn't plan on coming back in for the meat that I needed and was just going to make something else I could find in the house...but the gentleman in the meat department made my day! I gave the store an almost perfect score just because of his kind gesture. Other than that the cashiers should really try to be more kind to people. There are a couple nice ones but for the most part no one is ever smiling and all seem to hate their jobs, or people in general. read more

I've lived in Fountain for the past 11 years and have been a faithful Safeway shopper since the beginning. However, things have gone so far downhill over the past few years, I'm now considering driving all the way across town to shop elsewhere. It's super inconvenient and annoying, but this place has really become a mess. In the interest of fairness, first the positives: I like the bakery and most of the cashiers. A couple of them are exceptional, particularly Victoria, if I remember her name right. The sale items are often priced well. The produce and meat is of good quality and variety. Now for the negatives: 1. The lines at this place are ridiculous. I often shop for 15 minutes, only to find myself waiting in line for 20 minutes. I complained once to a manager and she basically said (somewhat rudely) that they are the busiest Safeway in the state and long lines "are what they are." This ticked me off enough to contact Safeway Corporate. They eventually put me in touch with some over-manager-guy who was a lot nicer and said that the store was experiencing some "growing pains" due to how busy they are. He apologized and said things would improve. Well guess what? That was well over a year ago and nothing has improved; if anything, it has only gotten worse. People should be able to walk down the main aisle of the store without being blocked by lines of people and carts. I should not have to bump against people waiting in line just to get to groceries that are in aisles lined with queued carts. Management denied this, but when I mentioned how insane the lines were to one of the cashiers, he quietly explained that the managers put as few employees out as possible because they get a bonus for saving money. I don't know if that is true, but I do know that these lines are insulting to the customer. Don't tell me that you are the busiest Safeway and the lines " are what they are." Hire more freaking employees! I can't think of a single time I have seen every check-out lane open. Why even have all of them taking up space if they never get used? Most of the time, one or two is the best you can hope for. And don't tell me it's just "rush hour" after soldiers get off work. I come here at all hours of the day and it's always the same story, just slightly varying degrees of terrible. 2. Rearranging the store is getting ridiculous. Nothing makes sense anymore. Some meat is on one end of the store, other meat is on the other side. Household items are juxtaposed up against food items with no rhyme or reason. I'm sure they are trying to get people to wander through the store more and end up spending more, but it's just driving me away. 3. Why oh why is there never any smaller carts or baskets available?!? I complained about this to the manager and he basically said because they keep getting stolen. Okay, then order more! I own and operate a hotel. Stuff gets stolen. Often. A lot of it costs a lot more than grocery baskets. I consider it a business expense. You all need to do the exact same thing and order more of those things!!! *Note that this wouldn't be as big of a deal if it weren't for the waiting-in-line issue addressed above. Now I end up with a cart that's really too big for the amount of items I'm getting, but too many for me to carry in my hands. So now I (and everyone else in the same predicament) end up making the traffic jam that much worse). 4. Not sure where something is? Just ask an employee, right? Haha, no. Not here. Unless they are stocking produce, baking, or one of the few cashiers checking people out, you will never see an employee that's available. You are on your own at this store. 5. WHY DO YOU NEVER HAVE DISTILLED BOTTLES OF WATER?!?! In fact, your entire "water aisle" situation is a disaster. I know Fountain had the PFC contamination back in late 2015/early 2016. I'm sure we go through a lot more bottled water as a result. However, Safeway has had almost three years to figure out how to meet the demand, but still doesn't have it close to sorted out. Every time I go, it's like the Zombie Apocalypse just broke out and panicked citizens stripped the shelves. If you KNOW you go through this much water here, then ORDER MORE WATER and PUT IT ON THE SHELVES. This isn't rocket science. And if regular bottled water is tough to come by, finding distilled water on the shelf is like striking gold. 6. Okay, this is the smallest complaint, but your store is getting dated and showing its grime and age. I think the staff tries to keep it looking nice, but the bathrooms, aisles, and everything else are tired, dingy, and rough. If the store really is as busy as you all say, you should be making enough money to fix your store up. Fountain is a nice area. Our only grocery store should be too. I used to be willing to pay the above average grocery prices at Safeway because it was "upscale", but that's no longer the case. read more

Better than Walmart, but I'm not sure that's saying much! What stands out in this Safeway is the bakery, I love their bread, cookies, muffins, and just the wide selection in general. It's always fresh and very tasty, with great presentation (it looks pretty). The best bread is the Safeway brand pre-packaged wheat bread with nuts and oats (in a purple package by all the other white/wheat bread). It's not actually in the bakery but this Safeway bread is yummy, its the best. The deli carries several options for quick dinners. The produce section seems to always carry fresh, quality fruit. The employees seem a little tired usually, but overall helpful. It's pricy. I usually shop here if I'm in need of a few items, or that delicious Safeway bread, because I know I'm spending more and every penny counts! read more

This store earns 0 stars from me. I had been a weekly shopper and purchased gas at their pumps but no longer. Their debit machines have a problem and they tried to make it my issue. I was treated poorly over tgis issue. Poor customer service, lack of variety and over priced groceries are just a few of their problems. My husband and I were shopping today June 19th at the Fountain Safeway. As we were by the butcher block getting some meat we noticed a man acting very strangely. He was ducking behind freezers and pretending to talk on his cell phone. As we shopped we noticed him throughout the store. He was dressed in normal every day clothes and was scruffy looking with his hair and facial hair he tried growing on his face. He made us very uncomfortable. As we were checking out he was trying to hide behind a pole. My husband mentioned it to the cashier and even pointed him out. He told us he's our security guard. No sooner did that come out of his mouth the cashier next to him told him you're not suppose tell them who he is. Just say "we are aware of the situation ". Boy that would make you feel safe in the store shopping? The young man was polite the other cashier should have left it st that and explained to him later how to handle it. As we felt very uncomfortable we will limit our trips to that store, not that one customer hurts their business. Maybe they should wear regular security guard uniforms and walk around and act normal. This would make many much more comfortable. read more

Wow, wow, wow has the service and store really taken a turn for the worse over the last 2.5 years. The floral department was horrible and the gal working back there was a rude as they come. I asked for 10 balloons to be blown up and I had to wait at least 45 mins. She kept helping other people that came in after me and pushing my small order aside. I bought my mom a little floral arrangement just to brighten her day- sad to say those flowers made it about 2 days before dying. The store isn't as clean as it used to be and it seems like they are very understaffed. Bummed because this was always my favorite location. read more

This Safeway sucks! I emailed them 2 weeks ago with complaints and they didn't as much as have the decency or professionalism to even respond. It is rare to not have to stand in lines when shopping here. Their products are scattered about the store in a senseless disarray. For example, if you want Applegate sliced Pepperoni and the Applegate sliced chicken they are at opposite ends of the store. This is only one example. Last time I was in line I counted 14 people ahead of me. I can't wait to get back to our Publix back home in Florida! We love Publix, and think Safeway sucks!!! read more

Every time I need something quick and easy and I want to avoid Walmart I go against my better judgement and run into Safeway on Mesa Ridge Parkway... every time I experience arrogant and rude staff. Today 11/17/18 I purchased three bags of turkey sausage crumbles and 2/3 were expired...one by a few days (probably ok) the other by almost a month. The expired food thing is a norm according to my mom at this location...that's why she avoids this particular Safeway like the plague. I called over about the expired food and never got ahold of anyone. So instead I decided to pull up their reviews to see if I was alone in my issue with them and I'm not, surprise surprise. Anyways if you use self check out and don't mind checking expirations on everything then you're good to go ... I personally can not wait until King Soopers opens up down here and I hope they have better hiring standards... or maybe better management ( bad managers= unhappy employees = crappy work environment) ... with that said Happy Thanksgiving read more

I've shopped at this store for years and have never had such a horrible experience until today. The bakery section has some delicious looking treats in the display counter case and there were three bakers working behind it but refused to even acknowledge my presence at all. They completely ignored me and I even waited for over five minutes to finish what they were doing but they refused to make any eye contact. I even had three small kids with me who were laughing and talking and still...not even a glance. The baker with short dark hair was even facing us and wouldn't even look up at us. Very rude and poor customer service. Every time I've gone to the bakery counter previously, I've always been greeted right away by a friendly employee. Today they missed a purchase from my family. The people working behind the counter today must really hate their jobs and shouldn't be working there. read more

There is a 45- 50 year old Hispanic female cashier that makes it a point to over charge me and say nasty things to me each time I accidentally go through her line. She has even bothered me twice when I was just in line with US Bank (the branch happens to be in that store). She is rude and offensive and abuses as well as harasses quite a few of her female customers, but Safeway refuses to fire her because she is in a union. They have her on camera, but because there is no audio they say they do not have proof of her actions. This woman has even accosted me in the parking lot after hours when I was doing business with a completely different business that shares the private lot there, claiming she is store security. Once when I refused to speak with her (again having accidentally gone through her line) she attempted to antagonize me by berating me for not replying to her and telling her how my day was. She then shoved my groceries aside clocked out of her register and told me i should shop elsewhere. Then when I complained to the manager the cashier claimed I was harassing her and called the police claiming Safeway was doing nothing to help her because the store manager apologized to me for her unprofessional behavior. Forty five minutes later I finally could leave after having spoken to the police and having my groceries held for me in the floral freezer. Since when does an employee get to treat you horribly and then have the nerve to call the police on you after you voice your discontent? Since when am I obligated to speak to her when she services me? All I want is to check out quickly, have the items rang the correct amount of times, and be left alone to go on my way. Why is it that because this woman is in a union that she can hold a whole stores management team and a 6 year customer hostage with her bad manners? what are you afraid of Safeway? Fire her! Or at least put her in the back stocking so she is unable to bother anymore customers! read more

I was in the store at about 11 a.m. today. There were only TWO checkout lanes open, and the lines for those two lanes were at least 10 carts long each, reaching way back in the food aisles. I gave in and went to the self checkout, which also had lines, but not quite as long. I was trying to buy the advertised .88 cent cake mixes, as advertised in the paper. I checked carefully to be sure that each one was the Super Moist variety, and within the weight limit, which all were. When I went to check out, four of the six mixes wouldn't ring up at the sale price, and I kept having to ask the attendant to come back and do her thing to remove them from my bill. It was EXTREMELY frustrating, and her only explanation was "I'm sorry, ma'am, but it only applies to SOME varieties." Why, then, were the applicable varieties not identified on the shelves? After my long wait, and this nonsense, I was so frustrated that I may never shop at this store again. At least Wal-Mart makes no pretense of great customer service, so I don't expect it there .... read more
