Called to ask a simple question. Was never EVER connected to a department. Went online to see if I could find the answer myself and there was no information on the subject. Called a few more times. After hearing the automated menu then sitting on their hold music a total of 20 minutes I gave up. Lake Stevens Safeway has terrible customer service. If you're busy, just pick up and say please hold- or we'll be with you shortly. I was in customer service forEVER and I always managed to pick up the phone. Produce is bad but I still shopped here out of Convenience. But the nasty dirty dogs (not service dogs) that are always in the store has led me to take my business elsewhere. read more

To be clear this is not a review of safeway in general, but of the lake stevens store particularly. I have some free advice for this safeway. Re-organize your inventory in an order that makes sense. It is very difficult to find anything in this store, because the signs are poor and like items are nowhere near each other. They actually have a section called "new age drinks" which contained sports and energy drinks, and some organic beverages. How this is "new age" is beyond me. It's confusing. Also, the staff was not friendly. People kept looking at me like I was from out of town or something, and I noticed that none of the employees were smiling. So I didn't ask for help and wandered around for 20 minutes before giving up, putting my 5 or 6 items back, and going to the albertsons across the street. read more

I live in Marysville but always go to this Safeway because it's way nicer with better people. I've always had a good experience until today. I had left my cart about 30 feet away from me for 30 seconds while I went to look for something in the meat aisle. I left my phone in my cart along with several groceries. I come back to it and there's an employee standing next to it and she says 'Is this your cart"? and I say yes. She says in a very snide tone "Well I wouldn't leave my phone there" and promptly walked away. Well I'm not too worried about someone taking my phone that's locked and they couldn't get into anyways and why would you want someone else's phone in the first place?? There's a nice way to say that like "Just wanted to say that you probably shouldn't leave your phone there as someone could take it." not "Well I wouldn't leave it there" and then walk away. I left a review on their site and within just a couple of hours the manager called me and told me she pulled the employee aside and told her what I had said. Good that's all I wanted! read more

I spend a lot of time in this Safeway, I go here because the prices are generally cheaper than their competitors and their produce is usually in pretty good shape. I've noticed that it is sometimes difficult to get help on the floor, but today I was standing by the bakery wanting too get a load of bread sliced, two people were working by the cakes and a third was stocking cookies. The associate that was stocking cookies walked by me without saying a word and even looked up at me twice as I was waiting for assistance. I could have called out or stood around waving my arms showing blatant signs that I could have used some help, but as an employee in a customer service environment and department, I expected her to approach me. I'll continue to shop here, but I hope that a manager reads this and does some training in customer service, a happy customer is a return customer. read more

I ordered some Chinese food from there deli today and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. I am not sure what time they cook there food but I ordered it at 1pm and it taste like it has been sitting out all night. I would highly recommend that you eat else where. read more

I bought a premade sandwich near the deli area of the store. When I opened the sandwich there were pieces of thin black plastic stuck to the back of the sandwich. The only thing that came to mind is that the sandwich preparer must not clean the surface that they prepare the food on before putting together the food. Why else would pieces of black plastic be on the sandwich? Gross! read more

Treated rudely by employee after asking for a raincheck (which he initially refused to issue). Employee had a very snarky attitude. After calling the store manager, he explained that he cares more about his employees than his customers! I will NEVER shop here again. Every time I shop here they are out of something and 2 registers open (one a 15 limit), line 5 people deep. Tried coming at different times and it's no better. This store use to be run much better. read more

Horrible service. After waiting 10 min in the 15 item line I was told I "should be ashamed of myself" for having 18 items. The cashier, large football lineman looking guy with apparently very low intelligence said this with a completely straight face. When I said "ashamed"? He repeated "yes" again with a straight face. I then said "I don't feel shame" which is true due to leading a righteous lifestyle. But he said "yeah I can tell" to this. Wow, Safeway you really treat your customers with respect! We just shopped here today and witnessed many neat things! There was a wine tasting, many samples, and some fundraisers going on. The staff was also very helpful and nice. We witnessed what looked to be an elderly woman who is a regular. The staff were eager to help her carry heavy things and help her out to her car. It was nice to see! The only thing I didn't like was that there weren't enough checkers for the amount of customers there were. read more

This only concerns the sandwich counter. Why have one of nobody is working at it?? The food is normally good but waiting while you can see other customers being served at the chicken and Chinese areas is a little tiresome. By now my soup will be cold. After shopping Haggens and QFC over the last year, it feels good to be back in Safeway. This one is decent, but just a standard one. Its nice that they have wifi, but the place needs a few plugs for accommodation. This one is clean, and I really appreciate that. This Safeway was my "go-to grocery store" for over 9 years. Now, it's an abysmal experience to set foot in there! Shelves are often bare of essential items, especially when on sale. So, their lures of good deals are a bait and switch. The remodel is so bad that you can expect to get run over in the aisles. It takes twice as long to navigate the store. There are never enough checkers or staff at the deli, bakery, etc. This store is a disorganized, over-priced mess. Go ANYWHERE else! Safeway sucks!!! read more

I really didn't think I would ever write a review for a grocery store but here I am. This store is very close to my house and I really do enjoy coming here. Every employee we have encountered is friendly. When lines get long you see managers hop on registers and help out (on numerous occasions I have seen the store and others on them). Only downside is you can tell it is a very busy location. Never have I seen a place that is busy on a Wednesday at 10am but this place is hoppin' - due to the volume this store must do they are constantly stocking. I'd say about 40% of the isles I walk down has someone stalking. Not a bad thing but makes things harder to get around. When an employee sees you looking at something blocked by their cart they happily move it. read more

I used to like going here. Within the last couple of yrs. I noticed I was always being wrongly charged. I have to check my receipts each time and for awhile it seemed time after time I had to go to customer service because I was overcharged. Its difficult to see what you are being charged as they ring the item up. One time it came to my favor. I went up to customer service to tell them I did not pay enough. Not a smile on her face. She did not even thank me for being honest. It was almost like she was upset at me for taking up her time. It was strange. Overall though most of the employees seem friendly. I needed egg noodles one night for dinner. They were completely out. A few days later I needed more and went back. Still no egg noodles. The other night I went in for bananas. No regular bananas, only a few organic. It seems things are just not up to par. Not the end of the world, but I prefer Winco or Grocery Outlet, where things are quit a bit cheaper. If we run out of milk or bread we will run in because you can get in and out fairly quick and we live close by. read more

This used to be a top-notch shopping experience. The staff used to go above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. A few days ago, I think it was Friday and right at 5 pm, we went there looking to buy a roasted chicken. But even though it was 5 pm, there were no chickens in the warmer. So we went to the Deli to ask if they had more. We waited TEN MINUTES at least while the boy behind the counter literally ignored us, continuing to slice deli meat. Finally, a girl asked if we'd been helped. Her attitude, unfortunately, said she didn't care to help us. She went back to see if there were more chickens, and several minutes more went by. Finally the guy from the Chinese food area came over to ask if we'd been helped, and I was saying that I thought we had been, but our helper had been gone a long time, when the girl returned. She was pushing a cart full of chickens, so we took one and checked out. Why is it so hard to find people who can at least pretend that they don't dislike your customers and their job? Is it too much to ask that we be helped in a timely manner by nice people? This kind of thing has been happening more and more there. The checkers are still nice, at least. read more

Racism is still alive at this Safeway! I entered the store to receive money from western union with the right verification but due to a hole in my ID that did not cover my face, any of my info and its not expired. One of the clerks at the customer service proceeded to tell me for about 3 mins on how they cannot accept my ID due to it being punched. So after getting it switched into my girlfriends(a white women) name she went in to collect it and they didn't even ID her and gave her the money with no questions asked. I feel like due to my skin color race was a key and I felt targeted. Even after calling in the manger he said I should of still received my money even with my ID card the way it was, Makes me want to reconsider where I do my shopping from now on. read more

I have never been to a grocery store where the employees were so rude. I "was" a steady customer - whom shopped almost on a daily basis, until the one day an employee approached me and asked why I come every day and purchase bread; that in fact, I should "special order" it and save it for other customers. Excuse me! I am a paying customer, who cares who pays/purchases the bread. If you know that I come to purchase bread every day, ...then simply make more! Who are you to question me on what I purchase. Ridiculous. Sorry anybody - if I bought your bread - it's "my" fault. Wake up Safeway of Lake Stevens - hire someone that can make the executive decision to make more than 3 loaves of bread a day. No need to say, ...I will purchase my food elsewhere - to include all products (not just the bread). read more
