I'm currently traveling around the country for work and this was one of many pit stops, the all in all is this. This store is small, it is a bit sad even, one could certainly hope it one day gets a major upgrade that this town clearly needs. But it's almost homely in a sense. Many of the employees are absolutely wonderful, some notable names I recall from my visit was BobbieJo, Leslie, Larry, and Ashe, although many other employees were very kind and welcoming, however, there was a few notes about another employee that I feel was perhaps having a bad day, A tall individual, I didn't catch their name, was complaining rather loudly to a customer about quite a few things and giving seemingly snide remarks about other people, now I'm unsure if perhaps this worker was simply having a bad day or if this is their typical behavior- But as a first experience it wasn't all too pleasant, to hear a worker complaining and calling their fellow employees some rather not too kind words I would rather not repeat. Other than that general experience, the selection was sparce, but given the size of the store I wasn't all too surprised. Again the overall general review I give this place is that while it definitely needs some TLC and a Major upgrade for the towns sake- the people seem kind with a few exceptions and the store was at the very least, comforting in a small town charm way. read more

I feel for the residents of Lakeview that they don't have a Safeway that has a bakery, deli, florist, or Starbucks. We stopped at this location on our way to Alturas, CA to pick up some croissants. After a quick tour of the store I asked a man who was adjusting the bread shelf if there was a bakery and he none too politely informed me there wasn't one. His demeanor was not a good first impression. The exterior store design is what I remember from my 1960's childhood and the interior is tight. I have been to many small towns with Safeway stores and they have the newer layouts that have all the departments mentioned above. Lakeview deserves the upgrade to a whole new store. read more

I suppose it's sort of unfair to rate the only grocery store in town so low, but this a pitiful little Safeway. No deli, bakery, etc. Very small with super skinny aisles. Not the most modern or clean, either. I was staying the night at an AirBnB in town and I arrived late on a Sunday afternoon. That meant every restaurant in town was closed, and I was starving. I was so happy to find a Safeway! I was hoping to find some prepared foods, but there were very, very few options. Since the store doesn't have a deli, ready to eat food was hard to find. I did the best I could with what was available. Luckily my room had a fridge and microwave, because I was able to get some steam in the bag frozen broccoli with cheese sauce and a prepackaged caesar salad. Lakeview is a very small town in the middle of nowhere, so the fact the town has a grocery store is fantastic. If you're traveling through the area, you can pick up some goods here. Just don't expect a huge variety of items. read more

Nothin horrible, nothing great. No deli, no bakery, no meat dept, no Starbucks?!? Oh my god where are we, Mars?!? Just kidding. All in all the store was clean, employees helpful and friendly but I was really missing some of the ancillary depts that I'm use to seeing in a Safeway. Normally, I fill out tens and check every modifier on every For U survey with complete and total knowledge that it directly affects the cashier working in front of me. In my time shopping at the Lakeview location I have gotten to know many associates by name, chatting about life and work as I pass through. Store Director Aaron Stephens is the exception to this. Aaron is a cold, unprofessional employee who is consistently heard vocalising his misery to his subordinates. He wears a permanent frown, runs the store from the miniature managers' station, peering over the glass at his subordinates and passers-by, and does an exceptionally poor job doing frontline work with customers. As someone who has managed stores of similar volumes and team sizes, I'm surprised Aaron even has a job with Safeway. I wish I could tell Aaron that he's dealing with real, live people, but he'd be more than hard pressed to care. This affects a community of 5,000 and their only proper grocery store, and people like Store Director Aaron Stephens make it an easy decision to switch to e-Commerce and bypass Safeway, spending thousands with the likes of Amazon, Walmart, or Target. Shout goes out to the following EXCEPTIONAL employees, individuals, and contributors to our community: BobbieJo, KellyJo, Kelly, Jim, Tim, Linda, Leslie, Shari, Robin, Issac (Brand new and doing FANTASTIC), and all the others who have been able to share a smile with us. Retain these employees with great urgency. Maybe give BobbieJo Aaron's job and let Aaron do what he does best - unloading trucks - she deserves it and exhibits proper leadership the world over the likes of Aaron. I've had several times where the manager of Lakeview store has been not helpful, and as a matter of fact has been rude, sarcastic and baligerant. He won't answer your questions without sarcasm. I ve had enough of the way he talks to the customers and employees. I can see why there is such a big turnover there. If there was another grocery store in Lakeview I would never set foot in the Lakeview Oregon store again. There has been several times I've asked him where an item was and he can't say anything without being sarcastic. Today I asked an employee where a item was and he asked on his radio where the item was. He came on with his usual sarcastic response, like where it has always been. I've heard him talk to other customers and employees with the same attitude. I'm sure I'm not the only person to complain about the same thing. He should be reprimanded or let go. read more

Cross the border into CA and shop Holiday in Alturas. The whiners here will LOVE the Lakeview Safeway! Is it the best Safeway I have shopped in? No -- but I grew up in So Cal where everything (except the bikini clad bathers at the beach) is "bigger". I appreciate that Lakeview management, in a very small store, has stocked the shelves with product and produce, meat and dairy with what as a consumer I actually use! The prices and deals make the drive worth the effort on a senior's fixed budget! read more

I like this safeway. The prices are somewhat high but they usually have what I need. The employees are kind and Leslie one of the cashieres helped me figure out my receipt and how to use the online coupons and they are always helpful making sure I get the savings possible. read more

My son started working there on 9/24 was let go the following day an hour after I dropped him off saying it looked like he was struggling the manager wasn't even there I was there on 9/24 close to when he got off work doing some shopping and he looked happy and motivated didn't look like he was struggling at all when he went to the office with his job coach they had already had a typed letter saying he resigned which was false he was let go and had him sign it. And at the beginning they said they sent a background check to his email which he never got the manager said they were having server issues but yet I my wife and other son sent him a test email and it went thru in seconds . He was set up plain and simple we are filing a complaint and talking with an attorney. And most of the employees have a piss poor attitude. read more

This Safeway was built in 1939, they have had a remodel....but they need to add a Deli and Bakery. Yes, this store sucks because it isn't as big as all the other Safeways, but a tiny community where there isn't even a Wal-Mart its good to have to go do some shopping at. read more

I moved here from Washington state and find that this store is really small. Yes, this town is small however we do have more need for a larger Safeway/Albertson. We need a deli, bakery and a florist that would handle teledelivery of floral arrangements. The produce department as someone else stated has problems with having fresh fruits and vegetables. I would hope that you find a way to either enlarge the current store or find a new parcel and build a larger store. We just got a new store in town called Dollar General which carries a lot of items Safeway does at a lower price. read more

This is by far the worst Safeway I've been to. It's small, their meat products and produce are sometimes going bad right when they first arrive on the shelves. It's only redeeming quality is that it is open untill 11pm, the latest of any place in town besides the Turkey Coop (aka Eagle's Nest Bar). I take every out-of-town opportunity to buy fresh, edible produce. Check out Lakeview Lockers for meat, cheese, french bread, and occasionally fruit. read more

This Safeway has not been updated since the sixties. Us locals would like to have a deli counter, and maybe a bakery would be nice! It is too small for everything they try to cram into this little store. It is no wonder so many folks who live here travel to Klamath Falls to do grocery shopping. Yet, they do have a nice staff, and it is not their fault the corporation won't expand. So, we do what we have to and just shop the sales and stock up when we go out of town. read more

Small store, especially for being the only grocery in town it seems like over the many years they have been there, they should have expanded. No deli, no bakery which is why we were going to the store. Prices a little on the high side, but I assume that it is because they are so far away from anything.
