(:-) SOOOO Holiday Market DELI to the rescue. They make subs to order on several breads. It's a similar system to Subway EXCEPT HERE at Holiday they are NOT stingy with black olives and other goodies. They even have GOOD SPROUTS. We arrived at peak lunch and there were only 2 people ahead of us. OUR SANDWICHES WERE EXCELLENT and BIG. My husband ate all of his but I only had room for half. This was our first meal of the day and we were very hungry. Sandwiches come with free drinks. It was $18 for both of us. The market seems to deserve its great reviews. My compliments to management for hiring friendly employees and encouraging them to give off a HAPPY VIBE. Aisles are wide. It feels great in the store. It's clean. The whole market gives off a higher end market impression. Very pleasant. And some YUMMY GOODIES if you just need snacks. If management wanted to add one simple thing for us Tesla shoppers eating from the Deli, it would be a couple picnic tables with colorful umbrellas outside along the wall we walk back to the chargers. After a quick tour of the store I asked a man who was adjusting the bread shelf if there was a bakery and he none too politely informed me there wasn't one. His demeanor was not a good first impression. The exterior store design is what I remember from my 1960's childhood and the interior is tight. I have been to many small towns with Safeway stores and they have the newer layouts that have all the departments mentioned above. Lakeview deserves the upgrade to a whole new store.

When we went in to check it out simply because we'd driven by it so many times in the past and to buy bottles of water, my husband said "Wow! Look at these old wood floors. What stories would they tell?" So a visit to this little place seems more about that for a road trip traveler than a place to shop. Antelope and deer heads line the walls. An old gas pump sits inside the store as a neat little décor item. A stack of Cook's magazines were behind the counter along with produce that had definitely seen better days in the small cooler, a pretty good selection of candy bars and snack foods and canned goods for such a little place. Sundries too, like a faded box of Calgon bath beads (are those still around...shades of my grandma's favorite soak) and aspirin and hand lotion. We so enjoyed the vibe on a bright fall day, that we moseyed outside with bottles of water purchased from the friendly woman inside who had worked there for nearly 30 years she said, to sit a spell on at the little tables with affixed stools set just off the small parking lot and sipped our water. As we soaked up the vibe, a guy in at truck pulled up at the working gas pump in front of the store and the woman working there came out to ask if he needed Diesel. "Yes ma'am, I sure do" he said. And a guy in a BIG truck with "Likely Volunteer Firefighter" plate on the front bumper came zooming into the lot so fast we wondered if our table might end up on his bumper too. It's that kind of place. It was fun to visit. We recommend you do that too if you're passing through Likely. But thank goodness we don't have to rely on this kind of market day to day for groceries. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: On street or in small side lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: A concrete ramp up the side provides an alternative to stairs in the front. Although the ramp is quite steep, and was likely (no pun intended) built to wheel in delivery carts and not for ADA compliance, it might work for some with help. Some inside aiselways are pretty narrow. 3) LOO: None here. About a mile up the road I see a sign saying "deli" and a lot of cars in front so I pulled in. We found Blarney's Deli. When we walked in it was crowded with locals and workers--we figured it had to be a good place to be if the locals ate there. A perfect, hit the spot on the road lunch stop. Very friendly service and good sandwiches. Should we every go through Lakeview again at lunch time we will definitely stop!
