Oh no is right and once again I paid good money for spoiled milk. Which wouldn't be so bad if Safeway gave you an easy way to get your refund like Target or sprouts even Walmart makes it easy. But not Safeway !! They want me to bring the receipt all the way back to the store and explain to the manager that his store sold me bad milk AGAIN. We are living in hard times , the cost of food is outrageous. That bad milk I paid almost $5 a gallon for is unacceptable. Safeway stopped caring about customer service years ago. Safeway was my childhood grocery growing up. I have shopped here all throughout my young adult life. Now, at almost 30 it was still my go to grocery.. until last night. Safeway forgot several items in my drive up pick up order. I called 5x with no success in reaching anyone. I had to drive back for my items & go into the store to so for help. 3 employees denied me service telling me I needed to press a call button for help. One of these individuals was extremely rude, laughed in my face & even put her hand up to me. I am 7months pregnant. I am extremely disappointed in the management of the Safeway in Manteca. I was just turned away at 12:54AM by an individual who wouldn't even open the door to explain why, he just pointed at a crudely placed sign stating it would be closing at 1AM. Last I checked 12:54 is not 1AM. I don't appreciate being turned away after working literally all day and night, in the middle of a rain storm, trying to purchase some flowers as a surprise for my fiancé. I wasn't the only one, the parking lot had several people approaching the store trying to make a purchase. This review is for the Bakery department. On January 3rd 2026 at 10 am I called asking if it was possible to make a costume Bluey cake. It was a very last minute decision and I didn't care if it had toy figures or a printed image. They let me know what they could do and we went over flavor options. They did recommend I come down in person to pick the design but I wasn't able to so the employee did a great job explaining the different Bluey pictures they had. This is a different kind of review for me but Safeway on Main in Manteca deserves it. This weekend we had a Celebration of Life for my sister who passed away last month. I was so stressed about everything that I didn't sleep at all for 3 days prior. We got everything at our local Safeway; refreshments, flowers and everything else we needed. The food and the flowers were amazing and very well presented. They were ready on time and didn't break the bank. There were many more flowers but we gave several away. If you ever need a party tray, with a few suggestions, or some flowers, go see them on Main Street in Manteca. read more

Place has really gone down hill. The food isn't the same quality and the price went up. A lot of the workers are extremely rude especially the armed security guard with an X O tattooed on his neck. His attitude and aggressive demeanor really boosts the ambiance of this establishment. I'll honestly never shop at this store again. Any grocery store is better and the people are nicer. Safeway Drivers Can't Read a Watch! Safeway via *DoorDash* - Unauthorized Charges and Poor Customer Service I placed an order through the DoorDash website for a Father's Day gift--beer to be delivered to my dad. I selected Safeway over two other competitors because I've always received great customer service from their stores. At checkout, I selected a delivery window of 6:00 pm to 6:20 pm and completed the $66 order accordingly. At 5:29 pm, well before the scheduled delivery window, I received an email from DoorDash stating that the order was "undeliverable." Immediately afterward, I was notified that I would be charged a $41 restocking fee--despite the fact that no one was home at that time by design, as I had clearly indicated by selecting the 6:00-6:20 pm window. I contacted DoorDash's customer support. My first call was disconnected within seconds. On the second call, I reached a representative and explained that their driver had attempted delivery prematurely, well outside the time I had selected. I requested that the restocking fee be waived, as this was an error on their part. The representative was dismissive and unhelpful. When I stated that I would dispute the charge with my credit card company, she told me, "You should just do that then." She then proceeded to blame Safeway for the error. I am deeply dissatisfied with this experience. Safeway and DoorDash failed to honor the agreed-upon delivery window, charged me a substantial fee due to their own mistake, and provided unprofessional customer service with no effort to resolve the issue. I no longer trust this company and will not use their services again. read more

Seriously, this place has some of the best service - one off and I'll get someone with a bad day. But I go here weekly and sometimes more. The quality here in food is better than a majority of places in town- "it's expensive" isn't true if you join the rewards app and clip your coupons. The service today is horrible on top of being extremely rude treating me like they were just trying to shut me up so they didn't have to deal with me, tell me why on a day you know is going to be wall to wall busy why you wouldn't have every possible register open to avoid customers standing in line for what has been over half an hour now and there is still 6 carts in front of me filled to the brim. I was having a very bid time at food 4 less with not honoring a coupon at the full price stated and proceeded to yell out "by Karen" and "have the day you deserve" because I knew they were wrong but desided to embarrass and humiliate me in front of allot of people and right now we are all struggling. So I desided To go to this Safeway location after collecting my self and went to ask a young lady in the self check out for assistance. I told her my experience at food 4 less and asked it they limit the amount of mf coupons. She assisted me with getting what I needed. Not only that but helped me find the best deal and showed me what was available and the chicken on sale. My brother & I went in on 7/20 to grab two items from the seafood counter. Service there was a 12/10 the worker with the septum piercing was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. However, Daphne who works at Starbucks may need to be retrained in all aspects of customer service. Wish I could leave 0 stars. Self check out closed at 9pm. One checker named Lisa. Never looked up to see line was long. Previously was told by assistant manager David if the line was long to ask the checker to please call for help (even tho this isn't my job ) so when I went in there on Saturday 10/26 about 845pm it was no surprise self check out was closed and they didn't look up once to see if line was long. It was 15-25 people deep. So I kindly walked over and asked Lisa to see if she can call another checker. She stood on her tip toes looked. Laughed and said she would call for another checker. I got back in line. She chose NOT to call for help. When it was my turn I put the divider on the belt loud enough to get her attention but not once did I cuss or call her names. She immediately started calling me a Child and refusing to help me. She told me to take my items off her belt because she was refusing service. (For a situation she caused ) I said why would you tell me you are going to call for help and then purposefully not do it while the line is this long. She told me the line wasn't that long and I was exaggerating. The manager on duty named Michelle comes up and didn't try to diffuse the situation. She just said "you were rude to me a couple months ago so we are refusing your service". So the situation a couple months ago was when they first put the sign up at self check out that said "about 15 items" me not knowing because I always went to self check out, she pointed to the sign rudely and said NOPE YOU CANT COME IN HERE. I said "well hopefully you guys start acknowledging the lines because if you don't then I will need to shop elsewhere" this was her "you were rude a couple months ago" situation which I was not. It was the opposite. So I left and bought my items at Savemart. I contacted the store Sunday to see if they still wanted my 1200.00 plus a month and spoke to David and I have yet to even receive a follow up call which he said he would do. When I asked who the main store manager was I was told Aldo and he would be in LATER in the week. Does anyone at this store care? If they did I would get a call back. Stay away. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service in the bakery. I'm here on Easter waiting to pick a cake for my family and all the customers are standing and waiting for someone to help. Not one employee is offering to help any of us and refuse to make eye contact with any of us. We have been standing here for quite a while and decided to get the rest of our groceries and come back. I came back and there are no customers waiting but still the 2 ladies behind the counter are not offering to help me. Another customer came over and ask if we were waiting and we said yes. This is a check in for only Manteca groceries stores that have plenty of paper products, food (and have been the case for over 3 days) and they are almost all back to normal stock on all food items (plenty of milk, eggs, bread, meat, chicken, fruits, vegetables, etc.). This is as of 4:00pm today (Tuesday 3/31). Other than Costco, the crowds and lines at all the stores were minimal and there were plenty of room for social distancing and all shoppers were very good at keeping a good distance from everyone as well as the check out lines marked 6ft apart. Sneezed guards install for each check out station with store intercom reminder of COVID-19 protocol every minute. Be safe, be kind and thoughtful! read more

Wow, what a cluster f$$$ this place has become. Out of stock of most ad or coupon items and 1 check stand open at 8 pm on a Saturday night. The people that manage this store should be replaced. In my 60 years of working or calling on grocery stores this store is the worst. Could believe the amount of people walking out and leaving their stuff. WARNING do not eat sandwiches from this location. The deli case had a roach scurry across the sandwich board as we were waiting for service, and it's no wonder, the sandwich board was disgusting covered in food and condiments, and they had a wet brown dirty rag that had been used multiple times to clean the station. The onions had black tips on them from what I can only assume was further contamination. The prep station also had severe black mold along the chilling table that holds the meats and veg for the sandwiches. It was fuzzy black mold, and the inside of the metal table was absolutely covered in it. You can tell they haven't cleaned this thing in a long time (like months). Someone is going to get seriously sick, they should be worried. Save yourself and your family from food poisoning, don't purchase sandwiches or premade food from this Safeway, or check the table yourself when you go in, it will probably still be covered in a thick layer of mold. I placed an order online for delivery on Sunday November 24th. The order was supposed to be delivered between 7:00 to 9:00pm. I received an email at 8:41pm that my order is delayed. That is the only message I received that night. On Monday the 25th I called customer service to try to get a status update on the order and was on hold for an hour. I got tired of waiting and hung up. I tried to do an online chat but that was more of a waste of time than the phone call. I did not hear from anyone. I called again on Tuesday the 26th and after about 5 minutes I finally got someone. I was told that all they can do is cancel the order. I was placed on hold and then Manteca Safeway tried to call me. Of course I know it is because customer service informed them that they forgot about my order. At this point I did not want to talk to them. I was told that my refund would be given within 5 to 7 days. I was upset with that because of the holidays and I told the customer service rep, "what if this was all the money I had". It was an inconvenience to me. This was the stores fault and nothing was done to compensate or make up for the inconvenience. They wasted no time taking my $186.00. But I wouldn't get a refund for 5 to 7 days. What I feel should have happened is the order should have been delivered with an apology note and a discount on the order. But I guess customers or I am not important. I will not be placing anymore orders with Manteca Safeway. read more

I stopped by Safeway about 845am on a Sunday morning. First, I placed an order at Starbucks inside the store. I pulled up the picture of the drink I wanted to make sure they had it. They did, and I added on a second drink. I told them I'd be back and headed to the bakery. The bakery was pretty much picked over. I asked the Bakery person if they had some stuff in the back, and they didn't. I believe Safeways choice to not have bakers preparing delicious desserts on the weekend is horrible. They lose a lot of money. Then I went back to Starbucks and they had got my drink order wrong. The lady was arguing with me that I ordered the wrong thing, so I reminded her that I showed her the picture and specifically asked if they had that drink. She was still arguing and had a bad attitude. So I finally asked for a refund for both drinks. I understand that mistakes happen, but it is a huge pet peeve of mine that people don't take accountability for mistakes and will treat a customer badly instead of owning the mistake. read more

I only drink Lucerne nonfat milk; it's the best, same with all the Signature items, especially the bakery goodies...but the last three times my husband has brought me home Signature Chicken Caesar Salads, the lettuce has been partially pinkish brown! I told him not to buy salads there, but he doesn't want to have to go to other grocers. He's going to Save Mart tomorrow to replace the two he bought yesterday (which were dated 3/05/27, btw.) Cashier Britany was very rude. Would rather chitchat with her coworker and male customer. I was looking at the screen making sure they were the right price didn't realize her coworker started bagging, she saw my bag on the cart and then stopped scanning, and said next time put it on the belt, we didn't know you had one. So she proceeded to throw my things from the belt. Didn't even tell me she was done scanning just stood there staring. Maybe next time ask the customer if they wanted bags before bagging them like everywhere else i've been to, and maybe pay attention to your job instead of chatting.
