My husband and I like this Safeway so much better than the Safeway we live by which is WESTLAKE. This Safeway the workers speak to you while the Safeway in WESTLAKE most don't. The deli here food is cooked and taste better especially the Fried Chicken but at times it is old they just need to make sure to keep cooking it. I have gotten sick from the Chicken at Westlake due to not fully cooked. Pacifica Safeway Service compared to WESTLAKE Safeway is much better. I've been in lines at Westlake Safeway where one particular cashier she spoke to everyone but me. I am a person of color and yes it bothers me sometimes that we are treated differently then most people. The old Security people use to follow both me and my husband around it got so irritating. We like the Pacifica Safeway better Plus there's a Dollar Tree next door. They often have more products on there shelves. read more

The first time I came here, I was rubbed the wrong way with being charged for 46 items when I counted less then 20. Like a shopper unsuspecting of subterfuge and deceit, I did not question the $76.00 bill. Just paid it and left. I told myself that Is oils not come back here, believe it or not this is a Great Review. I received a coupon and deals page in my mail, the deals were insane. Good Friday, more reasons to enjoy God's blessings, (baller on a budget); so, I was pondering and turning over the idea that one bad Safeway Cashier does not mean all of them are. After a particularly tough day and a hard work-out, I convinced myself it would be worth it to give them another chance. I shopped and found the deals and promotions with ease and nicely labeled and the store ambience is always pleasant on comfortable. It's not just the exuberant elations one feels after working out, honest. Then the moment of truth, I spied a nice Filipina Lady at register I think 5, very kind and comfortable engaging, we spoke at length of the healthier choices I was making with my grocery selections. Lmao, it's very rare to be complimented on what one buys at a grocery store when they are hungry and just got done exercising. Lmao. While maintaining the conversation; quickly scan all my items accurately, packs my brought-in-recycle-able bag, and makes sure that I do not leave with out my Monopoly promotional pieces. All of this while we laughed together, she did accidentally thought my card went through no problem near the end and started helping the next customer, but realized the mistake and quickly deleted the one item and then charged my card. Amazing store and employees I was there last week and i felt this was the best Safeway I've seen

This review is strictly for the ASSistant manager (I think his name is something like Majhd) his name doesn't matter. On this occasion I was looking for Vanilla extract and because this Safeway location is not my preferred store I did not know where I can find it so I decided to ask for help. I saw three employees on isle 8. Two guys talking to each other while one was stocking maybe and another female employee further down chiming in on the guys convo giggle or what not, also stocking (closer to me) I didn't want to interrupt their oh so important conversation but couldn't find the vanilla, (I should've then just kept looking myself) but anywho, I said excuse me to get her attention THREE separate times. She fails to acknowledge me and my question when I finally got a bit closer I asked her if she worked there. I thought maybe she's with a vendor or something as I couldn't see any Safeway uniform or her name tag. But I did notice she had on her AirPods and perhaps she just couldn't hear me. But how was it that she can she hear and be all giggly towards the guys? Hmm?!! Well for the fourth time I asked her where I can find the vanilla extract and she looked at me, no words, looked over at the guys called for one of them and pointed her finger in my direction. She did not look back at me or say one single word to me. Just kept going about her business. The guys kept talking for maybe 10 more seconds but also NOT one word nor did they even look my way UNTIL I decided in my head "screw this I'll go find it myself" ( I do want to note that it seems like one of them was on a break and oddly enough he was the one that helped me in the end, thank you Eric) well I began to walk away just disappointed in their lack of customer service when I turned my cart around the corner and that's when the (I later learned) ASSistant manager is walking toward me asking me how he can help. Already pist off I turned back and said "oh now you can hear me and want to help, where can I find the vanilla extract?" He looked me dead in my eyes for about 3 seconds with Eric right behind him and homegirl staring at me as well before he said, as he's TURNING HIS BACK TO ME "oh I can't help you!" IM SORRY WHAT?!! I get that he was mad I said that to him but sir I am the customer asking for assistance and you are the ASS ISTANT manager ignoring me and then have the audacity to talk to me like that? I asked for his name and none of them wanted to even look or talk to me but he made sure to walk back towards me stating his name and of course mention " I AM THE STORE MANAGER" I later learned he is only the assistant to the store manager. Not the store manager. When I was at the register paying he made sure to walk by me, stood next to the self checkout cashier both looked over at me and he began to laugh.. laugh! 1000% unprofessional! Eric ended up helping me find the vanilla extract but I will not be asking for help finding anything if I ever set foot in that Safeway again. I would rather shop some place else. And as for that lady and the ASSistant manager. Do better! You guys don't get paid to ignore customers and treat them poorly. I don't care who you think you are. DO BETTER! read more

My God but Roberta has a mouth like a sailor on a port call! But you know what the Integrity of the people in the store is fantastic. I witnessed on my visit the fact that someone had left their phone at the store. She had called ahead to make sure the phone would still be at the store when she returned. And when she showed up while I was waiting in line the phone was reported to be held at the service desk. That kind of service along with the other improvements the store has seen since they have opened up easily let's me give this Safeway location four stars. read more

Just bought the fruit bowls 3 for $12 but was charged full price of $15 by the cashier. When I asked the cashier, she wasn't too sure so I asked for further service and the manager here was super nice. He gave me one free fruit bowl and marked the other two bowls at their sale price -- super classy professional service -- definitely made me a return customer. It's true what others are saying about certain staff/checkers here. They probably need more training or just need a different job altogether but as far as management goes: two thumbs up from this customer. read more

Today was my first time visiting the new and improved grocery store. It was very clean and organized. The employees were setting up fall decor as I was walking in. I only needed a couple of things so I didn't get to look in every aisle. Even though it was a new establishment, oddly enough I didn't feel lost at all. This review is for the Deli Department only. No matter how much you complain about their extremely rude stuff their corporate office reacts to your complain like they never hear about it at all. I personally called them twice on different occasions and I was promised that the issue with stuff rudeness will be fixed. Till this day they have the same people working in that department and they still give a hard time to their customers. Finally, this Safeway opened after a year of construction. It was sad that Lucky had been replaced, but this grocery store is worth the replacement. It isn't just beautiful in the exterior, but also interior! It's so clean and organized; all the vegetables were pleasing to the eye. Bell peppers were placed into one section on top of each other by color, while other veggies were stacked and bunched neatly together. I love how there are no flaws in the produce. The people they hired to work here are so nice. They're helpful and they do their job right and with expertise. They sell everything here when it comes to food and it's so convenient for on the go lunches and dinner! read more

I live between this Pacifica Safeway and the Daly City Safeway. I prefer to come to this Safeway mainly because parking is easier here and there are far less people in this location. The major drawback I have however is that this Safeway is smaller than most Safeways I've been to and has a noticeably smaller selection of products. You can definitely find your essentials here but don't expect a ton of variety of options. Seems like there isn't much staff around, probably because there isn't as much foot traffic - but it does make it more difficult to flag someone down with a question. read more

Was hoping that this would be better than the Lucky that used to be in this location. In some ways it's better A newer store, more stock of things that I would expect from a Safeway. But the lines are abysmal. It always takes me 3x longer to check out that it is to grab my groceries. And we've also had outdated dairy and seafood products - had to go back to get a refund on crabs we bought because they were spoiled. So probably don't depend on this place for fresh seafood or meats, but the staples seem ok if you're willing to wait in a long line lol! read more

I have been to this Safeway twice now, why does it seem like they are understaffed all the time? Both times I came were mid afternoon and I needed assistance finding a specific product and took me legit 5 minutes to find someone (not someone at the checkout). Sorry Safeway but this is another review due to a separate experience I just had. I should have learned from my past experience with the shrimp. At this point I'll still continue to buy other things, just not any raw seafood or animal products here. I bought a fresh salmon cut from the prepackaged fresh seafood section on Friday dec 31, intending to pan fry the salmon fish for lunch the same day. When I got home I opened it up... that rancid smell and slimey feel was there again like last time when I got the fresh shrimp. I haven't went to the store to complain as of yet due to the new year but I am now concerned about the quality control issue at this store for fresh seafood. The sell by date was dec 31 but even if I had bought it on dec 30 I'm sure it wouldn't be edible. I think moving forward my seafood needs will be purchased at luckys since I have yet to experience any slimey overdue items from them as of yet. read more

This Safeway could benefit from some self checkout stands. At its busiest, 4 total check out stands are open and the lines are long.

Hire more people! I'm tired of the long lines and having to bag my own groceries all the time and rush to pay and then upset people waiting behind me. Terrible terrible terrible. Furthermore, I don't need any random personal opinions about the food I'm buying. Don't judge me and stop making comments on whether I'm vegetarian or whatever and just check me out and get me on my way. Someone else on here said there should be a discount provided for bagging your own groceries - I highly agree. Safeway please step it up - other stores are offering free parking lot pickup, and you should be worried. I'm positing this after 2 years of similar experience every time I visit. You would think that this Safeway would be just as good as the Westlake one. Don't waste your time waiting in line for the checker. There was only one register opened and about 6-7 people waiting. No bagger to help and the rest of the staff was stocking the shelves. The stock was less than the westlake one. So you basically can't find what you need because they're out of it. I work night shift so most restaurants are closed by my meal break time. So I stop at Safeway to pick up something from their to go cases about 3 nights a week. One of the items I grab is a Sparkling Ice drink from the cooler. Today they replaced the item with Sparkling Apple Cider (holiday drink). But did not move the Ice drink to another cooler. When I asked 3 employees, none of them knew where the item was moved to or even what it was. I had to take one from the room temp shelve. I asked the cashier if there was a way to recommend to store management about a product and the teen behind the register gave a "um, I don't know" teenish response. This is not the first time an item I purchase on a normal basis disappeared from the shelves. They got rid of the pre made hot dogs and now my dinner options keep getting limited. It doesn't help matters that I come in late in the evening and a lot of the pre made items are sold out by the time I come and the store doesn't replenish the shelves. read more

This is my first ever Yelp review. I always come to this Safeway but today was a bad experience. I went to the self check out after getting a few items. The guy working at the self check out was rude and rolling his eyes because the price of the item I scanned is different from what was posted on their shelf. He changed the price and then I asked if I could check because maybe it's lower than that and he said he already gave me the dollar off. So I went and took a pic of the price and showed him. The price is expired on June 1st and it's already the 3rd. He gave me the price which was posted on the shelf with so much attitude. I even ask him why he's upset. He just walked away. I work in customer service and I understand that sometimes we're having a bad day but the whole time I was being chill about it doesn't mean you can continue a bad behavior. I am writing another review in hopes the manager or someone at Safeway corporate is reading this. This is a great store- from food selection to cleanliness. However, for a major chain market that has now been open for more than a few years, the LINES are absolutely frustrating. More than half the time, you will wait at least 4 people deep, and on a bad day, maybe 7+. By the time another cashier is called out, people are angry and the cashiers just don't seem to care. Why can't this be fixed? No other Safeway in the area has this problem. PLEASE- SAFEWAY MANAGER OR CORPORATE, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. This is all about the deli: * Very friendly staff * Small but acceptable deli * The Deli Sandwich Meal Deal cannot be beat. The soda dispenser is often empty because the sandwich deli gets a lot of business @ lunch and dinner. But bottled drinks are allowed for substitution. * The fried chicken is not such a good deal. The issue is that they do not provide an equal amount of white meat to dark meat. As a result, you will almost always get nearly ALL dark meat when purchasing fried chicken (unless you get there JUST as they are loading new chicken into the bin). * Don't expect traditional Italian deli variety. The various choices of food the deli offers are made based primarily on foods that maintain a long shelf-life and are popular (e.g. macaroni salad, bean salad, chicken salad). * On initial opening, deli prices were very acceptable. Since then, random (store made) prices have increased by @ 20% and stayed there. Produce: * MUCH better than what Lucky could provide. * The area is clean and the vegetables fresh and the leafy vegetables don't have that "Lucky Brown Edge" I had come accustomed to avoiding. Frozen Sections: * Acceptable but definitely WAY better equipment than what Lucky was using to keep food cold. Meat/Poultry Section: * This is actually a very good section. The offerings are nice and varied for a section as small as this. * Custom prepared meat and poultry (stuffed chicken breast, rolled flank steak) is a very, very nice add. Kind of what Trader Joe's offers (they prep, you cook type foods). It'd be nice to see more of this! * The section is not large, but for what it offers, it's very nice. Drinks/Dairy: * Fair selection, not elaborate but it has the core needs with some varieties. read more

This review is for the bakery only. The cake I got was ok, but not what I was hoping for. It must have been over baked as it came out very dry and crumbled as we cut it. Sadly I was hoping for a cake that was more moist and delicious. I'm thinking that with the money they charge they should spend more time ensuring the cake is not over cooked. This is a nice safeway that's clean and has parking but this is what it's lacking: -certain items are not carried in this store -some items need to be replenished -some (not all) of the staff have major attitude (specifically, the youngsters and also to point out, young male bagger with his pants hanging down to his crack) It's definitely more modern , cleaner and up to date than some of it's other stores. I go to this Safeway exclusively. My normal shopping is TJ's and sprouts but sometimes I just want some big brand items or a delicious sandwich, or it's hella late and this is my go to. I have an ever changing schedule at work but regardless of when I get off I almost exclusively deal with the evening shift and they are super friendly and even though it takes me slightly longer to go here coming from work, this Safeway has some of the shorter lines compared to the ones closer and the staff is amazing. Nathan specifically always has the best attitude even when some of the other patrons are less than kind. If you shop at Safeway, go to this one. read more
