Labor Day weekend is now over and a few weeks of Summer left but if you are in San Francisco, Summer weather is just beginning somewhere in September with no official start date and without warning . There are lots of people who have traveled by plane in and out of San Francisco during Labor Day weekend. Some tourist are still confused when they come to the San Francisco Airport and hop on BART and they will exit South San Francisco BART station thinking because it's South San Francisco it's Downtown the South of San Francisco .One person had told me they ended up at a Trader Joe's a block away between the South San Francisco BART station and the Costco thinking it was San Francisco. The visitor was happy to see the Hawaiian shirts at Trader Joe's although there is no Trader Joe's in Hawaii. The Trader Joe's is the smallest Trader Joe's I been to because even the smallest Trader Joe's in San Francisco was twice the size. Walking through this Trader Joe's within minutes I did see some familiar items that are consistent among all the Trader Joe's. The theme of this Trader Joe's was aviation since the SFO Airport is near. They had a descent produce section along with a good section with bottles of alcohol. Their freezer aisle had good ice cream selection with mini ice cream vanilla cones along with Ube mochi and French Vanilla ice cream. One of my favorite items is the Spice Pumpkin mini sheet cake which was available for sale here. This is a good alternative in the area if Costco is closed like it was on Labor Day. The Oakland Airport just renamed their airport to the " Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport". More mass confusion ahead. All kinds of drinks and food are for "sale" at Trader Joe's grocery store which "retail" everything from Trader Joe's "Organic Mayo" to a case of "Whiskey cocktail" Get updates about new Trader Joe's products by "email " and with the Fearless Flyer which provides more "detail" about foods like the Egg Bites Cheese, Spinach & "Kale" and you don't need a membership card to enter Trader Joe's like next door at the Costco "Wholesale"

This is my favorite Trader Joe's location to go to. The staff are amazing. Particularly a young lady named Julia has absolutely amazing customer service she goes above and beyond every time I come to this location and she helps me out with anything I need. I was just here yesterday purchasing a simple small item and she was checking me out at the cashier station. She simply greeted me and said that she had remember me from the last time which I thought was very unique and very thoughtful. She honestly deserves to be a manager. I hope that this company promotes her to become a manager she has the skill set for a management position. Thank you, Julia for always going above and beyond your hard work never goes unnoticed.

I am very dissatisfied with Trader Joe's in South San Francisco. Every time I make a purchase, the store charges me for two paper bags without my consent. Although they do ask if I need a paper bag, they should specifically ask customers if they need two bags. Moreover, it's unnecessary--one bag is enough, especially since I just put the items in the car and don't carry heavy things around. I also shop at Trader Joe's in Millbrae. Not only does that store never charge me for paper bags, but its food is fresher, and it is cleaner and tidier than the South San Francisco branch. That's why I'm quite unhappy with the South San Francisco branch. Since I live in San Bruno, I will only shop at the Millbrae branch from now on. 说明

It is much easier finding parking at this location than the one in Fremont. I was at costco getting gas & saw this TJ's & thought to head in for wine & flowers instead of going into costco for them because that would certainly take longer.

The Costomer service here is just amazing. I saw a lady coming to the cashier with box of cranberries that was not fully full. The person in the cashier right away ring the bell and ask one of the other guys to bring him a new box that full since all of them are the same price.

The interior of the store has made Vast improvements over years, it's like every other year l come inside and the lighting is a bit different or has changed has been upgraded; good on them for this. The interior meat section is very clean and little to no working smells at all. (Fish - Beef ) I really enjoy coming to this location because of the Cleanliness and the abundance of fresh food items l can choose from. Service: the service is great and the customer service is great as well, one of the only things I didn't like was when they removed the Fresh orange juice machine; all else is good. Overall, if you shop in this area, then you already know how many Changes that this store has gone through to become what they are now. Bottom line: l will continue to keep coming back, l Like this location.

Molly Stone's is a fascinating grocery store--largely because so many people don't fully understand…read morewhat it is, or how it operates. First, they fly very under the radar. You can shop there for years without realizing it's a small regional chain rather than a one-off local market. Add to that the fact that many people aren't California locals, and Molly Stone's becomes almost invisible as a brand--despite being an anchor wherever it lands. And that's the thing: their locations are strategic to a fault. Molly Stone's consistently positions itself where it can be the only traditional grocery option. San Bruno, Sausalito--places where if you search "grocery store near me," Molly Stone's is often the only real answer. They don't compete head-to-head with Nugget, Safeway, or Trader Joe's the way those stores compete with each other. They quietly monopolize convenience. From a business standpoint? Smart. From a consumer standpoint? Complicated. I did some research after a recent visit, and the pricing model is what really made things click. There was an article describing a product sold to Nugget, Trader Joe's, Safeway, and Molly Stone's at the same wholesale cost--around $7. Safeway sold it for ~$12. Nugget for ~$14. Molly Stone's? $22. That's not a premium--it's a statement. At that margin, the value proposition has to be airtight: exceptional staffing, elevated quality, and an experience that clearly justifies the price. And that's where, for me, Molly Stone's falls short. Yes, the stores are beautiful. Yes, the footprint is large. Yes, there's a sense of "luxury grocery." But the execution doesn't match the markup. The stores are consistently understaffed. Employees often seem stressed or disengaged. I've had multiple uncomfortable interactions, including outright rude ones at the San Bruno location. Compare that to Nugget--where staffing is abundant, live stations are running, and employees genuinely seem happy to be there. Nugget promotes internally, invests in people, and it shows. Even from a product standpoint, Nugget feels more tuned in. They're early adopters. They curate. They take risks. There was a long stretch where Nugget and Trader Joe's carried products Molly Stone's didn't--despite Molly Stone's charging significantly more across the board. This morning, I spent $30 at Molly Stone's hot bar on a modest breakfast. It wasn't bad--but it wasn't $30 good. At Nugget, I'd likely pay less and feel just as confident about quality, freshness, and food safety. And here's the bigger picture: in California, most grocery stores are buying from the same purveyors. Transportation costs are high. Supplier pools are limited. If 60% of the average grocery basket is identical across stores, then price differences should reflect labor, care, and service--not opportunistic markups. Nugget spreads costs thoughtfully. Slightly higher prices make sense when you factor in staffing, quality control, and smaller buying power. Molly Stone's, on the other hand, concentrates margin at the shelf--and seems to expect customers not to notice. Once you do notice, it's hard to unsee. Molly Stone's is convenient. It's polished. It's strategically placed. But at this point, I'd rather drive a little farther and spend my money somewhere that feels fair--to customers and employees. And honestly? If I'm choosing between Molly Stone's and Safeway these days, I'm not sure Molly Stone's is winning anymore. Bottom line: Beautiful stores. Smart locations. But the pricing, staffing, and overall value just don't add up.

Since my last review, the prices have been raised for a majority of their sandwiches. Only a couple dollars though. I usually get a chicken breast sandwich on ciabatta roll, and it's mayo, pesto, and veggies. I like to get it toasted for that extra crunch. For $11.99 without cheese, it's a tasty and refreshing sandwich. With the increased pricing, I started to look at their prepared sandwiches, and honestly paying a little extra for a fresh made sandwich is the move (as long as there isn't a huge wait) I recently tried their chicken salad croissant sandwich, got it toasted, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It was simple, not overly mayo'd, thick pieces of chicken, toasted. Solid quick lunch for $9.99 If you go early enough they have these premade breakfast sandwiches. The chorizo and egg one on the English muffin is my favorite. I've grabbed these on multiple occasions and a perfect sized breakfast for when I'm too lazy to make it myself. The grocery store itself is quite pricey, so I don't buy my regular groceries here. I more-so stick to the deli and one off items that I need.

Unacceptable and Disrespectful Customer Service at Self-Checkout!|…read more I am incredibly upset by the treatment I received at this Safeway location today. I came in to purchase the $1 for 8 ears of corn member special. While using the self-checkout, the attendant on duty hovered over me intensely, making me feel like I was being accused of theft just for buying groceries. The situation escalated when I tried to help a elderly grandfather purchase his own allotment of the corn special. The elderly grandfather has severe mobility issues and was waiting in the car because he cannot walk into the store. When I explained that I was purchasing his portion for him, a staff member named Cynthia intervened and gave me an absolute earful, stating I wasn't allowed to do that. While I understand Safeway has strict member limits, Cynthia handled the entire situation with zero professionalism, compassion, or common sense. Even though she eventually said she would "let" me help the grandfather, her behavior was incredibly petty and demeaning. There was absolutely no one else waiting in line, yet she held onto the corn and forced me to walk all the way around and get back in line. When I asked her for the corn, she wouldn't even hand it to me--she just pointed at it, making me feel like I was being told to "go fetch it." I left the store feeling incredibly disrespected. Enforcing store policy is one thing, but treating paying customers--and an elderly shopper--with such hostility and condescension is unacceptable. Management needs to address Cynthia's customer service attitude immediately.
