I went into my local Safeway and noticed a lot of empty shelves No vitamin D Milk for the third time. The bakery stocked with lots of yummy things except choc muffins and in produce lots of empty spots and gnats all over the place (GROSS) Frustrated, ready to check out , self checkout is busy and only one open check stand, the rest closed. Of course this stand is ran by a young man named Eric, so says the name tag. This young man say's nothing to me. He can't even look at me , he mumbles the total so I pay and he stands there. I said I need a bag an waving his arms he tells me I was suppose to say something in the beginning. Sorry but the only thing going through my head is what's wrong with this kid? Is there something on my face? Why can't this guy look at me, so he gave me no choice but to say forget it ( you would think maybe offer a bag, but no). I grabbed my stuff and went to Starbucks it's around 6 o'clock or a little after but guess what they are closed. They put a note saying be back in 10 minutes (WHAT) I wasn't going to wait. As I was leaving I asked an employee what was the managers name. He said Eric Powers. I said the same Eric at the check stand he said yes. I have noticed that the store has been going downhill for the past few months. Out of curiosity, when I got home I looked up Eric Powers on social media and found his Facebook, It says he is the Safeway manager but in his info he worked as a "former helper" at McDonald's until 2010 (not as manager) and then "former Rifleman at Marine Corps Recruiting) from 08/02/2010 -08/01/2014. Then it shows "Management at Safeway" beginning 08/16/2014. Makes you wonder who he knows in the Company where he can run a store with ZERO experience and ZERO social skills! Safeway is your local supermarket and well safeway has cheap prices and not so bad quality. They always catch me on their deals. This one is next to a walmart in Rancho and well it can get ghetto, but it's the only one in the area as a grocery store unless you go to costco or to target. read more

This Safeway location we shop at regularly. They are usually good at getting additional cashiers up front when they are busy. The $10 Shanghai meal in the deli is good. I like getting coffee from their Starbucks, I have never walked away with any of my coffees having a bitter taste. The store is always clean and usually well stocked. read more

Depends on the day, bakery staff usually helpful but some of them are down right rude, front staff are friendly, Starbucks staff are always under staffed for the volume of people that they get. On a good day there are short and fast lines but never come here on the first week of the month, it's as horrifying as Walmart the volume of people that come in. Other than that the regular front counter staff and cashiers are super friendly, even the gas station people are friendly, just the bakery staff seem to at odds with customers, it was on several occasions they were rude and didn't seem to care if anyone needed help. I'm not sure if it's due to bad scheduling or cutbacks but it's turning into a Walmart. Last few times I've been in, there have only been 2 check out stands open. The express checkout lanes never seems to be open. Which wouldn't normally be a problem unless buying alcohol which you can't do at the self checkout. read more

This safeway is sort of 50/50 to me. The staff is great and always friendly. The store looks clean and inviting and there is never too long of a wait in the checkout line. The bad is that they run out of things, nothing excessive, just random items that I wanted. I just pick something else but it's annoying. Also their bakery bread isn't quite as good as some other safeway bakeries. And the most annoying to me is that dang olive bar. The olives are always moldy! It looks like staff just adds new olives to the old ones without dumping the older ones so there's always several scary olives that look like they're stuffed with blue cheese but are actually mold filled in every bin. I love olives and would buy them every time but I can't. I guess it's saving me money... lol. Overall, I keep shopping here because it's fast and convenient but if a better store opened in the area I would switch. read more

Do not EVER EVER EVER BUY SEAFOOD FROM HERE!!! I bought crab legs & shrimp from this Safeway last night, went home cooked it & the crab smelled & tasted like ammonia. The person who answered the phone once I called to tell them was extremely rude. Once I was able to speak to the manager on shift, he asked me to bring the remaining food back to him. The store is just ok, Usually the checkout lines are long with 1 or 2 checkout stand being manned. Since Rayle's closed down it appears that Safeway doesn't try to hard in the service area. I still go their always hoping for something a little better. read more

I went in for a sandwich in the deli department to order a sandwich and the service was quick and easy. A wonderful employee by the name of Susan notified me of all the new sandwiches and all the different toppings. The place was also pretty sanitary and I would definitely visit again. read more

Would like to say thank you to Adam (I think that's his name from Hamden CT.) up front working customer service! Bought package brownies, walked to my car and noticed the safety seal was ripped off. I informed Adam and got another one in replace, as I'm walking to my cart finger was piercing through a hole in the corner. I went back in and told Adam that this time I wanted to return the brownies. He provided superior customer service!! Also thank you the the lady pharmacist who was able to sell me alcohol pads since there were no rubbing alcohol on the shelf. Also, thank you to Cordova for always having a pleasant personality and keeping the shopping carts sanitized!! I'm giving a 5 star based on the customer service experience only!! After reading other yelp reviews, I agree about the homeless inside and outside, long wait times in the deli and the hot foods. OK first off this store is garbage, yesterday I went in to go get three large sandwiches for myself and my kids. First complaint is the deli was going to attempt to charge me for onions and pickles. Susan in the deli was awesome because I pointed out that I had talked to the store manager in the past and they're only supposed to be charging for extra meat or cheese, considering their competitors only charge for those items not to mention other safeways don't either. I was purchasing other items so I couldn't purchase in the deli, I elected to use the self check out because the lines had about twenty people per line and literally only two lanes open. So here I go using the sensitive self check out and it keeps saying crap about my bags. This ogar of a woman named Wendy comes over pushes my arm out of the way and starts accusing me of stealing. I demand for management to come. By the time they come I've paid but decided nope you ain't getting my money after you not only assault me and degrade me as well so I tell the manager I want her to review the tape and a refund, she reviews the tape agrees with me and gives me a refund, I ask for the number for corporate as I don't trust management not to take care of their own. I direct my twelve years old to go get the woman's name off her tag as if I were too I may have done something just as stupid as this woman. Instead of acting like a sane person Wendy hides her name tag from my child and starts screaming at her profanity and running away from her post into a room. Safeway has gone down hill, and these piss poor employees hiding behind their unions being allowed to defame and assault their customers is bull. read more

They have very friendly and helpful employees. The store is always clean and well-stocked. They do a pretty good job of keeping fresh fruits and vegetables. The Butcher Shop is excellent they have new items frequently and great sales on meat. Wonderful Bagels at a great price if you get there in the morning they're still hot with lots of selection. My only complaint is that they need more security outside as you will get harassed by the homeless drug addicts as you tried to enter and exit the store. However, the Baggers are more than willing to walk you to your car overall a great store read more

Safeway was running a SCAM last month to get people to switch their prescriptions to Safeway for a $25 gift card in the Just For You. It was a bait-and-switch if you are on Medicaid or Medicare. I was told at the pharmacy they would not honor the offer because there was supposedly a disclaimer. I was told there was a "Click Details of Offer" link in the Just For You by Safeway Support. I know for a fact there was no link and I even looked for any possible disclaimers. They are liars. read more

I frequently shop here either for a just a few things or a full provisioning. Stopped in yesterday to pick up a few things for a special meal with the wife. Fillet Mignon was to be on the menu. None were found in the meat case so I approached the butcher working at the time. He seemed put out that I was standing at his meat counter. When I made my request he rushed out to the same meat counter where I was only to return in what appeared to be a huff saying to "give him a few minutes." He cut, and wrapped the meat only to leave it laying on the top of the meat counter. fortunately I found it. Upon preparing the nights dinner I was surprised to see that one of the steaks appeared to be an end piece with all fat and grizzle. Worst fillet I have ever had. Long story short, if you want quality meat, don't come here. If you don't like attitude when trying to conduct business, then don't come here. read more

Worst Safeway I have EVER been to!!! My cashier was Lorenzo and he was so completely rude! And then this other girl that was working who had dark hair with blonde at the bottom and badly needed a makeup lesson was even ruder. For NO reason at all she just kept giving me dirty looks from the moment I walked in. I needed help finding a certain ice cream which is why I stopped there and I tried to ask the girl for help but all she did was just stare back at me with a dirty look. I did nothing to provoke her, and surely didn't deserve that type of behavior towards me. She had also got off work when I went to check out and she stood by and waited for me to get in line and then she got behind me and stood very close, which was extremely rude and then when I went to walk away she mumbled something I'd rather not repeat under her breath. I was shocked! That was the cherry on top of this horrible experience. Then I went outside and there was a drunk guy yelling and talking to himself. I guess the area is as trashy as its employees. This was the first time I've ever been to this store and it will definitely be that last. If I was the manager and I cared about how my customers were treated I would fire the two of them on the spot. There wasn't one friendly or helpful employee in there. I've never been treated so rudely in my entire life. I really hope something is done about those two employees but if you see them in there then I guess that says a lot about how the store manager runs his store and how much he cares about his customers and the way there treated. If so I suggest just going less than five miles down the road to the Bel-Air off Sunrise or the Save Mart on sunrise is okay too, but if your a Safeway shopper like me, then definitely make the short trip to the Folsom store instead. That's my home store and I'm very happy with it. I hope if you visit this store you don't have as much as a horrible visit as I did. read more

Good location, but I am not a fan of the beggars when I come out of the store with all my groceries and ask for money.I will drive to the Folsom location so I don't have to deal with the lightrail beggars. The produce here is always of great quality which is huge for me. The butchers are very helpful and are willing to offer suggestions when needed. There are a few checkers in particular who are extremely unfriendly but for the most part the service is good. read more

We shop here only because there isn't much of a choice in Rancho Cordova any more. The Raley's that used to be down the street at Folsom and Coloma closed and so did the silly attempt at a warehouse store that tried to make it at the same location. Safeways carry a good selection of what you need. This one is no better or worse than any of the rest of them I have been in. The store is sometimes dirty but hey this is Rancho--we are used to it right? The prices are high, but in defense of Safeway the selection of stuff makes it convenient to shop there so we don't have to deal with an even worse choice, Walmart which is almost next door to it. The meat is so-so. It seems super market meat gets a little worse every year. What ever they are doing to meat, they have succeeded in making it almost tasteless. We need something better in Rancho, but I don't see it happening in my lifetime. read more

Save your money and time. The prices at this store are high. The Just 4 You program is a big waste of time. After you spend all the time downloading the specials they are either not available or hard to find. Plus, the meat quality is questionable. Most of the ground beef comes from Australia. And, I've found bones in the Safeway brand boneless chicken breasts. I started going to Food Source just down Hwy 50 on Bradshaw. You get Raley's quality at discount prices. I'll never shop Safeway again after waiting around for $5 specials that don't exist. The problem is they aren't upfront about it . The deli staff hides at the sandwich counter and after you've waited a long time you finally find out they don't have the specials in stock. Don't get pulled into their Just 4 You program like I did and pay more for products than what you have to. I shop carefree at Food Source without worrying about prices and quality. read more
