I had to leave this review because the bakery team at Safeway truly blessed me. The day before my best friend's bridal shower, I was scrambling trying to find a cake. I had already called and gone in person to two other Safeway locations, and even though they had plain cakes sitting in the display case, they told me they couldn't decorate one because those were "for orders." I understand it was last minute, but it felt like no one was even willing to try. When I called this Safeway location, the woman on the phone kindly told me they didn't have any cakes with flowers or a spring theme ready. She must have heard the disappointment in my voice because she asked me what I was looking for. I explained the situation and the kind of cake I was hoping for. Without hesitation she said, "You know what? I'll make it for you. Give me about an hour." They didn't just take a plain cake from the display case. They actually asked me what flavor I wanted and made the cake fresh in the flavor I chose, and then decorated it exactly how I imagined it. The piping and flowers were absolutely beautiful. You could tell they really took their time and cared. What touched me even more was the little details. They carefully taped the bottom of the cake to the box so it wouldn't slide while I was driving, making sure the piping and decorations stayed perfect. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to me. When I picked it up, I honestly almost cried because it was so beautiful. At the bridal shower everyone kept complimenting it and asking where it was from. It tasted amazing and became one of the highlights of the day. Those two wonderful women in the bakery didn't just make a cake -- they saved my best friend's bridal shower. They worked so hard, were so kind, and went completely above and beyond for me. I truly feel blessed and so grateful. I even thanked God for them because in that stressful moment they really felt like angels. I hope they get the recognition they deserve, because customer service like that is rare. I have never experienced anything like it, and I will never forget their kindness. First time trying to buy groceries from here. All the red meats were brown. Every single one .. I guess it's a normal thing for the butcher to be proud of to put out there for everyone. I went to put my cart back as I didn't want to buy anything anymore the cart locked at the opening door. Another customer says you have to buy groceries or else it won't let you out of the store. Trying to force you to buy the rotting food crazy!! Health department needs to come check this place out asap. read more

I've been shopping here since five years and this place is just getting worse, mostly when it comes to customer service, but also the value of items. There are several staples that are considerably cheaper and better quality at Whole Foods. Today, I asked for help with an eGift Card at the self checkout and was very rudely told that they don't accept eGift Cards. I had the card number, pin, and link. On top of that, I had pushed the call button long before the guy next to me wanted to cancel his self checkout item, but the woman who refused to help me, attempted to help him first before I spoke up. After she asked another cashier if they accept eGift cards, she just ignored me. Btw, if both those cashiers would know their job, they could have told me that eGift Cards are easily redeemed as Safeway cash via the app. For people who might ask, I was there around 9am in the morning and it was not busy. read more

PHOTO OF THIS RUDE LADY WHO YELLED AT MY MOM! Prior to ringing up my mom she got extremely mad because the customers she was helping didn't have enough money to pay. She responded by throwing a bag of chips that they wanted to put back so they could have enough money. Once it was my moms turn she wanted to put in her phone number but the option didn't show up so she asked the lady and this made her really angry and she yelled at my mom asking her why she didn't say anything before. But usually the option is on the screen even so this was no way to respond. This is not right and she needs to be held accountable for this rude behavior! read more

I was looking around in the flower section picking up different flowers to look at them closely trying to decide which ones I wanted to surprise my gf with. She seemed busy at first , moving around and moving the shopping carts but then she decided to start moving flowers and vases around near where I was at. There was stuffed teddy bears for graduation gifts and she picked one up and just held it while starting at me. I moved around the flower section slowly to see if she'd follow me and sure enough she did. She's "looking" at other flowers. I go back to where I originally was and grabbed a bouquet of flowers that came with a pretty vase and I stood in the checkout line with them. I look over at the flower section and there she is looking around for me. She seen me looking her way already & she's standing there staring at me from the flower section. I confronted her after & spoke to the manager about the situation. The manager was helpful but the lady ALMA. Was very rude and yelling at me saying " you're wrong , you're wrong!" She was not doing her job. She was watching me the whole time while I shopped for flowers and pretended to move vases around next to me. I know when I'm being profiled. She needs to be fired. This store can do better. Is this how headquarters and management trains their employees? To stare down and closely watch the African American customers that simply just want to shop! Mainly for the floral department, I just want to give a huge shoutout to Enya for helping me out yesterday. I went to two different Safeway stores and all of their floral department closed way earlier than expected. I needed 30 balloons filled with helium for a surprise birthday and thought I was out of luck. Called this store and I immediately drove over. To my luck, Enya gladly accepted the order and immediately went to work. I had such a great experience working with Enya. Though she mainly worked in floral arrangements, she did an amazing job in helping me make 6 sets of 5 balloon bouquets all within a 40 minute span. Hopefully no one else has to get last minute festivity needs done, but if you do need help (at least with balloons) definitely head over here!.Needless to say my girlfriend loved them! I was gifted flowers from our florist who did our wedding (S/O Blackistone Florist in Campbell). Beautiful $150-200 floral arrangement. Hubby and I decided to stop at Safeway before we head home since it's literally on the way and we figured it would be better for the flowers to get more sunlight. So we left it on top of the car thinking there's nothing to worry about since it's on top of the car. We didn't think we would take long since we're buying juice. As I'm paying for my final item I see the workers laughing and giggling and lo and behold HOLDING MY FLOWERS placing it right in front of me on the florist table. I'm like those are mine.. those came from my car.. and the female worker was like laughing not believing me. She begins to say how she has been wanting to get her grandma flowers because her grandma has been in the hospital for cancer. All the workers are cracking up about the come up on the flowers they took off my car. I'm looking confused like nobody is believing me, hubby came in and said He saw the young guy who puts the carts back walk past our car and snatch it off, put it in the cart and run into the store giving it to the young lady who then put it on the florist table. Since nobody believed me, I showed them a picture of my flowers. And they laughed. lol. Ok. Mind You before we even entered Safeway, the same young guy snatched this mans cart that still had His personal belongings in it and the man had to keep shouting at the guy across the parking lot pushing the carts letting Him know is Phone and things were in there. Overall prices are high, quality of food is hit and miss "depending on what you buy" for instance there dairy gold eggnog is pricey but is top notch Quality. Fruits and veggies on the other hand usually have no flavor at all. The meat department is not bad but the prices, ouch!! So far my experience with the checkers have been pleasant they all seem to be pretty nice. I would give them higher marks but honestly I feel the store is deceptive in their advertising, it's almost like they put some items on sale after they raise the price. But I. Digress. read more

This is the nearest Safeway to the Valley Fair and Santana Row area now that the VF Safeway is long gone. I love the service here because I had a few lucky breaks. What does this mean? When my local Safeway ran out of an item, there were a few times these guys had the item I am looking for. Service is good because this is not a high traffic Safeway. I am usually here for a grab and go then drive back to my flat. At night it is very calm here if you want to grab something. I never buy food here because most of it is at my local branch. I have known this location for a long time in the early 2010s it was dormant and now it is a very good source of food for those that live nearby. I am not sure about the future of this place but it saves a lot of people out of food insecurity. read more

I was at Safeway yesterday and they had a free standing case of fresh turkeys for $0.87 per pound which was a great deal. I took the turkey to the self check out. I scanned it and the price was $59+. I entered my Safeway card number and price dropped to $49. There was a Safeway attendant there and I asked her about it. She picked up the ad and said there is no such deal. I told her to look at the sign herself. She said that she couldn't leave her post but would honor the price if I walked back and take a photo of the sign, which I did. When I returned, my turkey was still sitting at the checkout, the screen still had my transaction in place but that lady was not there but instead another woman. I showed her the sign photo with the price and full of the turkeys. She said the turkey I brought up was not from that case but it was identical so I zoomed in on the photo and showed her. She said that is not the correct price. I looked for the first lady that I spoke with and she was in the next aisle of self check-out. She was helping someone else. I showed her the photo and she said she would help me after the other two people even though I was there before the other people. No problem, I said to myself, I will wait. Then I see the second clerk clear the transaction on the machine, grab my turkey and actually run to the rear of the store. I called to her but she kept on running so no turkey for me. I will never shop at this store again. Shame on them for not honoring the deal. read more

My dad loves the fruit tarts from the Safeway Bakery so for his retirement party I ordered two fruit tarts at this location. I came one week in advance and filled out the paperwork and got a copy. A week later, I came to pick up my order and they did not make my tarts at all! I was really upset as my dad's party was in 4 hours and I had no dessert. It was so unprofessional for the bakery to not make an order that was verified through paperwork. I was so angry and they talked to the manager. After about 15 minutes of various phone calls, the manager was able to locate two fruit tarts at another Safeway in Campbell. She did give me some money back, but in my opinion, the order should have been free for all my time and driving around. I asked to file a formal complaint and they didn't have any type of form for me to fill out. I found that strange and as there doesn't seem to be formal process to document these things. The employees are extremely unprofessional. As I was checking out at self-checkout, this lady stood directly behind me as if I was stealing. I turned around and asked her if she wanted to check me out, and she replied," Do you need help". I told her no and asked if she was going to just stand there to watch me check out. She literally stood there and pretended as if she wasn't watching me, but when I turned around she was looking directly at me. How rude and disrespectful to be treated as such. Discrimination and racial profiling isn't a good appearance because not all Indigenous people are criminals and I clearly wasn't stealing. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood store #2968! I'm so glad to have visited during their grand opening. You're welcomed with beautiful flower arrangements in their floral department. Directly to your left is their delicatessen section with cases filled with freshly made hot and cold food. The vegetable and fruit section is larger than other Safeway in the area which makes me SO excited! We checked out the meat section and the butchers are sweet and patient. We made sure to walk down every aisle and I love how neat and easy it is to go through this store. I absolutely thrilled to have a new Safeway to shop in. One great in size and have friendly staff. One downer is that they do not have a Starbucks inside the store but one is located in the same shopping center. Welcome you guys and keep up the great work! This is a great Safeway location. I appreciate that they are open late and reopen early in the morning. They also always have fresh fruit and delicious pastries and cakes here too. One things that really stuck out in my mind recently though, was the excellent customer service that I received from the Emmanuel the cashier. Emmanuel was running back to get a price or something and he wasted no time in doing so before returning to the register and apologizing to me for the delay. Then he went out of his way to come from behind the counter and put my groceries into my cart for me (one of them was a really heavy 24 box of flavored waters) because he didn't want me to have to struggle with this. Other cashiers would have just left me to struggle. I really appreciated Emmanuel's great customer service that day and it's people like him that make me frequent establishments like this Safeway location. read more

Maybe an off day at the deli counter--no one was there, waited a while, saw an older man in the back who came out looking for other staff. Obviously annoyed, he began making a sandwich. He stopped to go cut turkey cheese and lettuce although it appeared the ingredients were all right in front of us. I asked if he wanted me to place an order and come back after staff returned, he did not respond. turkey/swiss/mayo/mustard, but forgot the mustard. Did not speak a word to me. Someone else began waiting in front of the deli counter. A young guy in a mask returned, eventually started helping the other guy, he looked between me and the sandwich maker unsure of what to do. They also were out of garbage tags had to go to another Safeway to get them, that was the prime reason for my trip. First time in this Safeway. Please get it together!
