My goodness, they are expensive! My kid loves the strawberry sandwiches, and the drinks are pretty good too. The store itself is nothing fancy. I haven't really bought much produce here, so I can't comment on the fruits and vegetables. They also have a pretty good selection of Japanese beauty and skincare products. I stopped by on a Saturday. There was a good crowd. First I hit the food court and had some nice food. I had a chicken katsu plate from Tonkatsu Sakuton, a negi rice bowl from Santouka, and a cheese takoyaki and negi mayo ponzu takoyaki from Yama-chan Takoyaki. There were nice bento bowls in front. Ingredients looked fresh. From Niitakaya, I took a fan favorite pickle fukujinzuke. From the grocery store I had some cool Japanese stuff like Kewpie, Baumkuchen, Shrimp chips, Almond Poke sticks and Kitkat. I also took some ramen and udon. Milk bread was nice, but expired in 2 days. Some of the review were mentioning about a chestnut roasting machine in the front. They no longer have it. Mitsuwa was super busy at 4pm on a Saturday. I wanted to check out the Bandai store inside the supermarket. It seems like the supermarket has ran out of room. Aside from SJ Japantown there are so few Japanese supermarket in the South Bay. Japanese restaurants are getting more pricier and cater to Western taste quality is not up to par usually managed or owned by non-Japanese and quite often not so authentic. Mitsuwa has been around since 1998 serving authentic Japanese meals and they put an array of ready to go bento, sashimi, poke, sushi and much more cheaper than dining out at a Japanese restaurants. Employees are very attentive kind and helpful. All the products are shipped from Japan and they have fresh produce, meat, fish and fruits. Found my favorite Lychee drink from Japan! I first saw these in Japan at Disney Sea and at the Tokyo Station in a vending machine!! So glad they have these! They're refreshing and delicious! Was only gonna send a few dollars....... $300.00 dollars and 45 minutes later after arriving, I realized I had fallen in love with a grocery store! This place is wonderful! It's always so fun to see people with their badges here or in cosplay which makes it doubly hilarious since you're nowhere close to the actual even either. But I digress. I'm spoiled by the multiple and massive Mitsuwas in SoCal, especially those with more specialty shops and bigger food courts, but this location fills the niche that it has in NorCal. It was overall good, but it definitely is just a sushi platter from a market rather than a restaurant. It's kept in the fridge, and not freshly made right as you order, so the rice is cold. Make no mistake we love these kind of grocery stores. Be it Mexican, Persian, Indian, Cambodian, and now Japanese, they are always an adventure. I had briefly been in years back as they are one of the few places outside of NYC you can buy Royce Chocolates in person. This time we took a deeper dive. Obviously this one was all about japan. It's been that way for over a decade, since I was a college student. They even have Mochill Donut if you have a sweet tooth for coated mochi donuts. If not, there's Mochi-ya Ren, known for its only Matcha Mont Blanc soft serves you can find in the Bay Area. The associate was friendly when I asked to look for a specific item. I love this store! We used to come here a lot although we live about 2 hours away. We like santouka ramen and their test kitchen during the weekend, they have fresh yaki imo and roasted Chestnut. I had been to Mitsuwa Market down in Mar Vista, and loved it, so when we were in the area, we decided to check it out. The market itself is very well orgranized, has a book store, a trading card game store, and a solid food court with ramen, curry rice places, Mochimill donuts, and more. We came later in the day so the hot food and sushi section had been picked through, but from what I saw the prices were affordable if you are looking for a quick grab and go lunch. They had a great selection of sushi grade fish, which is perfect if you want to do sushi or make poke at home. The only downside is their parking lot. While it's pretty big, the shopping center itself is filled with a lot of good options, so fighting for a spot was a bit of a journey. Definitely would come here on non-peak times for a less stressful experience. Overall, solid market, great quality and affordable grocery items. They also have a small food court with a few restaurants and some chairs/tables and bench seating. This is a great market place to grab some of your favorite Japanese items and a bite to eat. The store itself is 5 stars to me as they have something for everyone. The only reason for 1 star off is that the parking here is horrific. The parking lot is shared with other stores and restaurants in the shopping center, so it is extremely difficult to find parking. People are very aggressive when fighting over parking spaces and when leaving, be very careful of people driving around cars that are parked waiting for someone to leave a parking spot. Be prepared to spend 10-20 minutes finding a parking spot unless you get very lucky! read more

For a grocery store, it's quite a community hub! When I lived relatively close by, I'd come here regularly. It has a bookstore, several restaurants inside and around it, and a chocolate store as well. There's tables for customers of the restaurants to sit and hang out at too. Not what it used to be. I blame tariffs since they don't have a big selection like they used to do. It's getting run down too. I understand it would be expensive, but they desperately need a remodel. Prices are HIGH (tariffs). I paid $10 for an egg salad sandwich and a drink. Egg salad comes from Andersen Bakery. Honestly? It's not that good. Super bland. One of my favorite ramen places that's more lowkey and quick to grab when I'm craving it! The spicy miso ramen is my favorite here but the tonkatsu is also delicious!
