All safeways are supposed to have the same thing, inventory wise. Clearly when you read a review for a chain location you're not looking for information on if they have a deli. Most do as well as a Starbucks, bakery, sushi case and panini's. What you want to know is if any of their amenities are any good. Since employment turn overs are so high at soulless big box stores with benefits comparable to Wal*Mart.- there is no consistency in most big box stores since there is no incentive for their fleeting employees. This safeway has good fried chicken, decent ( I use the term loosely and encourage you to apply good judgement and common sense in conjunction with my estimate of "good" grocery store deli Chinese) "Chinese" food , but an untouched sushi case. Chances are with their Sushi, there is not a high turn over leaving those trays of rice to live right up to the brim of their expiration date. I've never seen anyone buy them, and I've never ventured. But you can always check the stickers. Pass. As with virtually all Safeways their produce department is fully stocked and you pay the price for buying food out of season. Most of their "sales" here are not a deal in the produce section. Their huge compliment of almost every cambell's soup is pretty impressive-but growing up Campbell's was cheap food. I'm a little stunned to see a "family sized" soup for five bucks. Sans recommended amounts of added water- that's about as much as a bigger container of soup from their deli. I shop here a lot because it's on my way home, but mostly for dried goods or lunch. read more

I can only rate this place based on my late night runs here. I'm always here real late or midnight hours so they are always restocking at that time. The graveyard shift workers are all very nice. I love this SW because its definitely one of the better SW in my opinion. Never had any trouble finding anything. Very organized and clean. I love that they have a gas station right in it! You can get discounts by using your SW card by accumulating points up. I'm new to seattle so do all SW have gas? Haha. Just like Costco. I love that theres no lines and parking spots right near the entrance. Got to love those late night runs! read more

Who doesn't like chain grocery store! Prices and products are consistent. Overall, for the average person this is a good grocery store!

The have groceries, I need groceries. They have fruit, I like fruit. They have beer, umm you get the picture. It's fine for a Safeway. Nothing terribly special about it. They have what I need most of the time. They have a BECU which is great. I like Thriftway or even QFC better for special items, but Safeway is a great routine stop for groceries. read more

Since the "upgrade" to the newer more modern safeway design, they have cut so many things that I don't find it worth while to shop here any longer unless I'm getting a very easily substitutable staple. Before the upgrade the coffee had 15+ bins, and 2 of french roast(that was still empty most the time), now they have 5 options of whole beans by the pound, and half the isle past that is a big Starbucks display(no not an actual Starbucks, just a display of their coffee taking up four feet of an isle, I'll add a picture if i go back some time this month). The dog food now is always sold out of at least half and the selection looks like what you'd find in a mini inner city Safeway like on Queen Anne yet the store is as big as a normal Safeway. Beyond the diminished offerings, the store lay out is poor, nothing is where it should be and after 5 months the staff should be able to at least guess a location, but they don't know yet either. I have gone more than once when they were completely out of many common produce items, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, The check out line is always slow and not enough checkers. The staff is polite, and while not fast they are friendly. One star for that. I agree with the previous poster on the gizzards. Yum! Second star. But personally, I prefer to drive to the Grocery Outlet or the Safeway in West Seattle since the "upgrades". read more

Their incompetence is ridiculous! They never got my monthly meds on their automatic refill despite offering it and it being requested again and again. Their text alert system never worked. They typed in my insurance information wrong so it was not covered and I had to pay put of pocket because I could not wait any longer for my medication. Go fairly frequently to this store after work around midnight. Grabbed a few things and waited in line for twenty minutes. No extra checker, nothing. The checker made a mistake and needs a manager override. Apparently the manager didn't know how to override computer. So she rudely announces to the fifteen people in line," that's it, were closed so everybody just go home". I asked if they could simply open another register. Nope, checker said he was sorry but manager was a raving bitch. Told everyone to go home. As I leave store, a young kid says we can come back at 6am when a new manager reopens. So I mention with such bad customer service many won't come back. He says", that's ok, we don't need you anyways ". This store totally sucks. Will never step in a Safeway again. read more

Most indifferent staff. A few very nice women in the deli. But a lot of complaining about working conditions to customers instead of serving them and keeping their issues to themselves. Or waiting around to be helped while a small group of workers stand around chit-chatting. I only use self-checkout when I shop there these days so I don't have to deal with staff. QFC across the street may be more expensive. But the better attitude over there is worth it. read more

I go to this Safeway about twice per week for 7 -8 years, altho I do no longer like it in any way shape or form. In past 24-36 hrs, I've been there 3 times. Service has declined big time in past year or maybe two.Never enough check out clerks. Long wait times... lines again today starting down aisles. Clerks there get worked to death, have to postpone breaks due to lack of timely backup, are increasingly abrupt to customers. I personally have witnessed shop talk about this topic multiple times. I dont mind but I've witnessed a few uncourteous exchanges with customers. Then, with newer clerks ya get chit chat with their friends while all are waiting to get checked out. The payment machines are having a hard time accepting debit cards, even newer ones. Prices have noticeably risen over past year. Women's restroom is usually filthy. This morning, not only all stalls full at same time (at 8:25 am???), there was tp floating on floor. Coming back later, maybe 20 min, i found unflushed toilets & missing seat covers in a couple stalls. Not only that, I felt threatened earlier by occupants who appeared to be homeless performing morning ablutions taking over the john. I personally hav heard the store mgr having a stand-up mtg with employees on topic of people walking out with product, even booze. I should not be privy to their mtgs. I have reported thefts I witnessed to staff but now i know nothing is done about it. Generally, the food is good, variety is good & more organic stuff is offered. Aisles are wider than used to be. However, in past 6 months, & not before, I've ended up with spoiled food several times when I got it home or next day. Also, shelves are being stocked during day. Harder to negotiate aisles. Ya wonder why I would go to such a grocery? Well, I live a few blocks away, it is open 24 hrs & there are 2 clerks I recognize to be Christians: a retirement age gentleman & a '50 + woman with a very pleasant face & curly hair. They exemplify integrity, composure, friendliness & efficiency. I try to get in their lines even when I must wait. I have no magic solutions to offer; running this huge store must be a Herculean task. Keeping bathrooms clean & stocked would go a long way with me. Thanks for listening! read more

I'm done shopping here. The new manager woman is terrible. She walks around with this attitude... Like she thinks she's better than everyone else. Her tone of voice with her employees is terrible. I feel bad for whoever works here. Andrea is her name. She definitely needs to work on her people skills. I would imagine Safeways would hire more charismatic management workers. At one point, I even overheard her threaten another employee's contract rights. The store manager is alright. But don't ask him questions without getting some half desired answer. The new layout sucks, and the employees don't even know where anything is. At least the products look decent. I just cannot shop at a store that is obviously taking advantage of its employees and gives terrible customer service. Step it up Safeway. read more

I generally avoid going here because even though it's close to where I live, it feels out of the way. Today however, I was informed the gas prices at the time here are cheaper than where I normally go, so I gave it a go. The trouble started when I decided to buy a few groceries since I was there anyway. At check out, there was trouble with my card, the chip reader was off or something. No big deal, that issue, I figured, could have easily been on my end. I opted to pay with cash to make it go by faster. I count out $40 in 5's for a total that was $38.63. The woman ringing me up first miscounts, and tells me I owe $5 still. Again, this could have been my mistake, maybe a quick miscount though I separated each bill and counted them out loud. After staring at me for a moment, she recounts and the correct $40 if her count. Human mistake, no big deal. She puts it in and gives me $1 back, and says "Did you get your change?" The change dispenser did not dispense anything. She proceeds to say that I won't be getting my change because the machine isn't working, and IGNORES me to talk to some kids that needed something from her. I'm a little irritated and just wanting to leave, so I forget the change and head to fuel my car. Again, I face trouble with my card, at which point I'm thinking it must be coming from my end, so I decide to put some cash toward fuel til I can see what my card issue is. i walk in to see the attendant and all is well, I am behind 3 people so I patiently await my turn. When my turn arrives, a man walks in behind me and both him and the attendant ignore me as he asks the man what he can help with, and then leaves me standing there to check on a pump issue. Call me old fashioned, but there was no sense of urgency and I still believe in first come, first served. The remainder of the transaction went smooth enough, I got the money on the pump and fueled my car. As I waited, I checked my bank account and lo and behold, everything with it is golden. I get out of there and head to Fred Meyer which is a little ways away, but at least I never have issues with them. There, I was able to finish fueling my car with no card issues, and a polite attendant that greeted me when I stepped out. Bad experience, I won't be returning to this location. read more

Aggressive pan handlers and really scary people are always hanging out in the parking lot. Today I decided to go shopping there after actively avoiding this store for over a year for this very reason. I was approached by two guys trying to sell me CDs or something right in front of the main entrance. I politely declined and kept walking inside the store, and then on the way out they tried to sell me what ever they were selling again. I just kept walking because by then I was pretty irritated by being harassed by these guys. I heard one of them yell "B**CH!" as I was walking away. That is the last time I will ever shop at this Safeway. Even though they have higher prices, I'm shopping at QFC from now on because I value my safety. read more

I've been a Safeway customer for 20 some years and never been to a store so under staffed. What staff there is are all very helpful and friendly but seriously hire some more cashiers! Also, please fix your uscan machines. It's not helping your line times or customer satisfaction when only half of them are working. read more

Hands down the worst pharmacy ever. I call in prescriptions and they're ready maybe 30% of the time quoted to me. Staff is rude and incapable of doing what's expected of them, including being friendly and apologizing for when they screw up (which is often) or haven't done their jobs (which is constantly). I've been going here because it's the closest to my house, but I'm transferring all of my prescriptions - and I have lots of them - to Bartell's now. It'll be further away, but it's worth it to actually go somewhere that will do what they're supposed to do. Because of this hell hole, I'm going yet another night without my medication because they didn't have their act together... I work in health care, and I understand the rules and regulations behind medication refills, so this isn't a case of me not understanding how pharmacies work, either. Thanks for nothing, Safeway. Dear Safeway. Unfortunately it should not concern me who came to work today and who did not. Unfortunately I do not want to hear your staff fighting over who should take lunch next and who should wait all the time the customer waits. Unfortunately I do not want to hear one staff yell at another staff on the phone, do not take a chicken order as I do not want to make more and I need my break. Unfortunately I do not want to hear that you cannot ring up one hot item at the hot item till because you need your lunch and although there is three of you and three customers at the counter you will walk away. There is a reason my hot food is still in the cart and I am at home on yelp. There is a reason that your reviews are lower than they should be. There is a reason why companies like amazon are moving into the grocery business. This should be about the customer and your staff have taken that away. Yes due to your location people will come. They will stand in your long unprepared lines. They will be treated with disrespect and lack of service. But you should be ashamed. This is management, this is lack of training, and this is an inability to staff a business appropriately. People will pay more for a similar item with good service. People should be charged a lot less for the service at the Safeway on 28th and Roxbury. It's too bad, kind of liked your food but will not subject myself to your shortfalls not do I recommend anyone else. read more

Lines are always very slow. One checker in particular I've had the experience of her service is having a full on social hour with every customer. and then there's a problem with every order that she needs to call a manager. I was in line for 15 minutes! I've seen other customers get irritated with her with her trying to carry on a 10 minute convo with them. Anyone could read their body language yelling "can you just ring up my order so I can pay you and leave"?? no, there's always comments on the food you're buying, etc. Sure, she's very nice, but when you see your line is 5-6 people deep, how about just ring up everyone's order and let us go. Even with the self check, all 4 check stands have the red light blinking and the store employee is behind the customer service counter helping with something else. Again, stuck there for 15 minutes. People are very busy trying to balance work and family, we just want to get our food quickly so we can get back to those things. I've even tried their delivery service, but they'll substitute things they're out of and you wind up with products you don't want. This is why amazon's new test grocery store of going in and getting food and just billing your account and leaving without ever having to go through a check stand will most likely be a huge success. Clearly there's a demand for this.. this is why!! read more
