The store's good, the staff is great and their store policy stinks! If an individual is receiving EBT assistance and they shop here they're expected to pay cash for bags...how is this ok?! Ultimately I don't think the customer should EVER have to pay for bags if they're choosing to shop at a preferred store! Basically, if you have an enormous amount of shopping to do and you're using EBT assistance, bring your own bags or go to a store that won't charge EBT clients for bags like Albertsons and Freddy's! read more

This is a wonderful store. They have tons of great products at incredible prices. I have even been finding beautiful plants & have saved hundreds of dollars compared to nursery prices. The times I've come, the staff are nice and some times even spark up a nice "check out" conversation with you. Like tonight, my bf and I had a funny conversation with our cashier and even the cashier behind us joined in. All good vibes tonight as it was almost closing time. The place is usually clean and the deals are pretty good. Expect to buy more than what you came for because there'll always be a good deal you can't resist. Plus, they have a lot of unique things such as different flavors of Frosted Flakes like cinnamon toast and there was one where Frosted Flakes and Lucky Charms did a mash up. I loved that one! Never saw it again tho lol. They also have a unique flavors of protein bars and drinks you don't usually find at your local target. They even have a lot of things that are not grocery related items like toys, stationary journals, and garden decorations. It's honestly pretty exciting coming to a Grocery Outlet because you never know what you'll find. One day you'll find something that you wouldn't expect to find at a Grocery Outlet because of the name brand and exclusivity. Then, boom, you never see it again. Don't expect to find all the things you'll need on a grocery shopping trip at a Grocery Outlet. However, it doesn't hurt to come here because who knows what you might stumble upon! Customer service is okay here. Some staff members are more friendly and talkative compared to others. It's just like any other grocery store staffing, so nothing new about that. There's lots of parking since there's a parking lot. Never really had problems with Grocery Outlet yet , so I will continue to shop here. read more

I've noticed for several months now that the selection is quite sparse compared to other Grocery Outlet locations. I'm not sure what has happened, because it used to be fun to shop there. Even though I live in Burien, I've started shopping at other locations (South Seattle, Kent) because of the fact that there is a far greater selection of items. The Burien store seems to just fill the shelves with half a row of one item, not much in the way of new and exciting seems to be rolling in. People are wearing their masks inside but there's no system to sanitize the actual cashiers area. But they are trying their best and that's not the issue. The one star is for the cashier, Amanda. What a horrible interaction. She was SO RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL, I thought I was on "hidden camera" and she was acting. No "hello", no "thank you". She really hates her life. Don't have the deals that most of the Grocery Outlets I go to do. Make the trip to Rainer Beach or Renton if you can. Also they don't give you time to bag your stuff before pushing the next customers stuff through. I can bag or I can pay but trying to do both without holding up the line is a frustrating and I had to just toss everything in my cart and bag in the parking lot. I only swing by if I happen to be near here but regret every time I do so hopefully this review will remind me to stop and just wait to go to another one. read more

Since service decided to be rude I'll post this. When I worked there a customer complained because she witnessed racism and the management blew it off. She saw everyone getting together for a group meeting and when someone said they were going to grab the Hispanic workers the manager said no, that they won't even understand and that they'll tell them later. They should've been included as the team and then translated to if needed. I knew them personally they would've loved to been included. Also they had a cashier ask people if they spoke Spanish and she would send them to my line(I speak Spanish) but she wouldn't even bother to try to help them until it was brought up to management. Typically, I love Grocery Outlet. However, the Burien location is by far the worst Grocery Outlet I have been to. Barely any vegan options and everything, literally everything priced higher than other Grocery Outlets. Higher than the regular grocery store. Also be very vigilant about reading expiry dates. They will sell you expired food and you cannot return it. They were literally screaming at a little girl who looked about 7 because she was wearing a Little Mermaid backpack and they wanted to confiscate it. She had literally just walked through the door with her mom. She didn't do anything wrong and grown adults started screaming and yelling at her, scared her and told her to hand over her backpack like she was a criminal. She didn't steal anything. She had barely walked through the door. The humans who work at this location really need to work on their customer service and human decency. Shameful. read more

This place is full of treachery and lies! Cheaper my butt. I can't get out of this place without spending at least $70 and I just came for a carton of milk. It's the same lie I've been hearing about Costco. Deals they say! Then I walk out with $200 in toilet paper after I just paid a small fortune for a membership. So I bought a 6 pack of San Pellegrino fizzy water because it was $3. I poop in water that's cleaner than the drinking water of most of the world. I need San Pellegrino like I need a bidet in my living room. I got it because the stuff is advertised like it's the product rich people wash their cars with and it's not even that good. 3/10, will not try again. Unless it's 3 dollars again, then I'm totally getting more. Those Chobani Flip yogurts are also 69 cents. Another product that's about three times that much at the average grocery store. So I got 5 of them. My kid thinks they are literally crack cocaine and wants to snort them all in one day. Well go ahead I say, they expire in about 12 hours! One day maybe he'll go back to eating just regular yogurt that you have to scoop into a bowl, like a peasant. Not likely though, he's hooked on the hard stuff now. For 69 cents, I'm cool being his peddler. The place is full of cheap goods that have to go fast. It's easy to stock up on necessities, but I wouldn't go loading up your zombie apocalypse shelter, the stuff is also mostly set to expire soon. The only thing worse than eating cold beans in a fallout is eating rotten cold beans in a fallout. Just go down the street and pay full price. Because G.O. is an Outlet, most of their stuff is compromised in some way, or target items that generate a lot of revenue for the larger grocery stores. Grocery Outlet is a supplemental stop on the grocery run, and not intended to be a one-stop-shop. Stop in, get what you can, then head to the other grocery store to obtain what you couldn't find. Eggs and milk are cheap. Things like pickles and canned goods are closer to average with random deals. Selection is nothing impressive, but there's random items scattered in that are far cheaper than what they'd appear in other stores. read more

All grocery outlets have different stuff. This particular grocery outlet has small appliances so I was able to buy a toaster oven that I've been wanting for over a year. And at a smoking hot price! I am so happy... They also had about two aisles of cleaning supplies and lots of great foods at cheap prices. I only wish they had more organic produce. Where do I begin... I had a pretty wild experience at this store. I was minding my business and shopping for Thanksgiving when, store manager Karen in glasses came running down the aisle shouting about something. She approached me and said I had to lock up my bags from the Dollar Tree next door. I was pretty taken aback by this. I've never been asked to put my bags anywhere (I told Karen I had my receipt). After some questioning, I relented and put my bags in the lockers. Fast forward to the end of my shopping trip....I had the great misfortune of encountering, Candace, one the rudest cashiers I've ever met. I asked her about a buy one get one special and she made a snide remark. Then, the card scanner didn't indicate it was time to pay and she just stood there without a word. Candace really hates life. I've come to the GO's mainly to scope out their munchies (ok, just chips, lol). One thing I like about them is the slight variation in selection that includes certain brands and/or certain -flavors- of brands (i.e, Boulder Canyon Natural Foods' Ancient Grains). It's nice to mix things up, if you get my drift. It seems pretty clean and organized. The beer & cider looked nice, as well. Located near library and Burien Transit Center. There's also an awesome mural on the far exterior wall facing the library outside. read more

This location is very clean and well stocked and if you look hard enough you can find some great deals. We always get our juices and breakfast items along peanut butter and jelly. My fiancé tells me that the beauty products are are really inexpensive for good brands. The frozen items are plentiful but because they are usually the worst for a human body I avoid them. (Most of the shrimp and fish is farmed along with frozen fried items) I also have great memories of when I was a little kid shopping with my mom so for that reason alone I would add an extra star. The prices have gone up since then, but then again what prices haven't gone up? The inventory is constantly changing so it's kind of like a grocery adventure! read more

This Grocery Outlet can be very busy over the weekend. They're located between the Bank of America and Dollar tree. Carts are plentiful for your shopping experience. Starting your journey into the store, I was a bit confused with the layout. There are some produce at the very front of the store. As I walked further, there wasn't much left. I thought it was a sad produce section as it soon saw the loaves of bread, vitamins and chips. As you go further in, you will have your meats, dairy, and dry food section. There are bargains on a lot of items. I do still check the expiration dates on the items just in case, as some items are close to their pull dates. Some foods are good for same or next day use, hence the discounted prices. Walking further down to the other side of the store, you will see the rest of the produce section. Still, a bit odd for me, but I'm glad I found it. The cashier's are very positive and greets you as soon as you approach the front of the register. Reusable bags are available for purchase, and they do offer Apple and/or Samsung pay for your convenience. read more

I come here often when I'm on the hunt for a good deal and surprise savings. They get overstock/close to expiration product from sellers at heavily discounted prices, and hand most of those savings to you. Some tips for shopping at this location: *Always volunteer your bags for locker storage. This area has a lot of theft and doing this puts the staff at ease, from my experience. *Be aware that what is on the shelf this week may not be available next week. As most of the products are bought as overstock, their supply is often limited. *Be on the lookout for a random insane deal. They're usually marked by a yellow tag, just be aware that the "regular" savings are marked like that too. *Be kind. Bargain markets attract a lot of the more stingy and cheap customers than places that simply charge more and cater to the mid tier markets. It's pretty unforgiving... so cut them some slack! read more

A horrific place. Their return policy is horrific. I went in to return a cat scratcher thing and I begged them and told them I lost my job recently and need the money. They just kept saying they cannot take anything without a receipt and the older woman there is a miserable old bat. They are a screwed up lot. It's like the island of misfit groceries. Grocery Outlet is a large, chaotic, slightly grungy repository for failed foodstuffs. If you are looking for a tidy layout and predictable staples, you have come to the wrong place. Much like Big Lots, the inventory is a constantly rotating litany of overruns and discontinued items. The merchandise is haphazardly arranged and unkempt. If, however, you need a few cases of synthetically-flavored chocolate pudding in a tube, or perhaps fish sticks coated in brightly colored confetti jimmies (the disturbing disclaimer "Not sweet - just fun!" is permanently seared into my memory), then this is the place for you. Lookout for expiration dates - they vary from the recent past to the frighteningly distant future. But if you're feeling adventurous, and can't pass up a package of frozen hash browns the size of a sleeping bag, then you're in luck. It's like a treasure hunt every time! If you go in expecting to find certain items, you are doing it wrong. Relax, and revel in that unknown deal that is just around the corner. I routinely find cool stuff here at AWESOME prices. They have the motto of "Shop here first." It's true; go to GOBM to get whatever you can on your list, THEN go somewhere else to finish it up. I like that they embrace the transitory nature of their stock. One cardinal rule always check the expiration date. A lot of the time it is just fine, but you want to be sure before you take it home, especially on perishables. I have found all of the staff to be kind and helpful, and their lines move very quickly. It's also a great place to get plastic bags (while I agree with Seattle's decision to ban them, my strategy for using grocery bags as garbage bags requires additional logistical effort now, haha). The only reason I can't give 5 stars is due to the bathroom key situation. I am totally for not having an open bathroom (it does stop much grossness from happening), it's a pain to have to get it from a cashier. They are typically checking people out so, I have had times where I have waited in line to get the key, only to find out that was the other checker that had the key, and I then I had to go wait in that line while using the time to pray that my bladder didn't explode. It seems like it would make more sense to keep it with the employee by the door. read more

I had never been into a Grocery Outlet until the other week when we were out grocery shopping and felt like checking this store out. I don't know how it all works, but most of their food products are close to expiration and HEAVILY discounted. Half off imported cheeses, pre-made guac, ice cream, etc. Many of the items still have weeks of months left before their expiration date. All name brand products. They have an amazing candy section here. Looking in my cart at checkout, the bulk of what I bought was candy or fell into the dessert section. They also have lots of things for your kitchen: pots, pans, kitchen utensils, even half off Contigo water bottles. They had some toys too. Planning on hitting that up come the holiday season. My biggest realization I had in this store was that I could host a fondue party for well under $20, using solely imported European swiss cheese and good quality white wine. Even the apples and baguettes for dipping could be purchased without spending more than $20. Just got to pick a time! Other gems I found were big packs of fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheese for over half off. A giant lasagna that feeds 40 would cost like $10 or $15 to buy ingredients for. A homemade margarita pizza party would cost about that too, including a live basil plant! If hosting a party, reception, or anything of the liking, stop by to see what they have. read more

I love the grocery outlet. I think some of them are tidier than others, but in the long run, it's like shopping at Big Lots or an Army PX or any discount place. You get what you get. I've gotten really good deals on name brand things- I once bought a Fischer Price Toy for a friend's baby and saved a ton of money on it. The Grocery Outlet used to just sell canned and frozen stuff. Slowly they've branched out to having some fresh stuff. You can save a lot of money on salad fixings and other produce (limited menu there but it's better than nothing) and on meat, milk and dairy products. I've bought a lot of really nice gourmet type things. Sometimes they have frozen bone in hams that are excellent. When I shop at the Grocery Outlet, I start out there, and then go over to Saar's (very near there) or Trader Joe's (also nearby) or to a regular supermarket for everything I couldn't get at G.O. Usually I don't have to buy very many other things elsewhere- some, but not too many. read more

This is probably the cleanest, most organized GO I've ever been in. I know every GO is different, so there were some items I like at other locations and some items here that I like better than other locations. But I felt like they had a pretty decent selection! Lots of dairy and meat options, and a ton of frozen meal items. And their alcohol section takes up a whole area of the store! Big score. I did feel like I left here spending more money than I usually do, but probably still cheaper than Safeway. read more

I went in to grab a few items before heading home from work. I walked into your store and was approached by your manager(not sure of her name but she is in her late 50's and wears glasses) because I walked in with a bag from the dollar store. She told me I had to put it in a locker because I couldn't carry it around the store. I handed her my bag and took the number she gave me. As I walked around the store I noticed many other women were carrying their bags around the store. I am African American and these other women carrying their bags were all Caucasian. This made me so upset I just grabbed one thing and hurried out. At the check stand I told the manager that next time she tells me to lock my bag she needs to make everyone do it. She told me it's a store policy and everyone's bags get locked up. I told her I saw other women carrying their bags. I told her I was offended that she asked me to check my bag and I felt like she did it because of the color of my skin. She insisted no one had bags but she will check. The cashier apologized several times Even though he has nothing to do with it. * I sent this to the store owner and he has not responded at all. This incident happened two weeks ago. Mostly, I go to the Burien Grocery Outlet. I love them. I go to them usually once a month--they aren't always going to have your complete list, but the idea is go to them with your list, and if they don't have it all, they will have some or even most things. Then complete your shopping list elsewhere. If there's something wrong with a product, they will exchange it or refund. (I think twice in two years I got some sliced cheese with a spot of mold; it was fixed.) I am always treated well by the people there. I know they have to have the locker section because of thefts, and the woman in charge there was firm but not at all discourteous, when they first started the process a long time back. Now it's pretty much a given to most people--you go in, you go to the locker, put in your bags, and then proceed to shop. I am on a very low budget and manage to find things I like plus a few treats to get me through my shopping. The products are very heavily discounted, though as someone said, check expiry dates--but they will exchange or replace if need be. read more
