Got the last bag of Dublin Shortbread cookies!
    Tanis L.

They have Pepperidge Farm Dublin Shortbread Cookies!!! Or should I more accurately say, had the Dublins until I bought the last bag on the shelf on Sunday the 6th of September this year, 2020. Yes, I am that person who will buy the last of something on the shelf. These cookies used to be more common in the stores in North Seattle and the Shoreline area but as of recent they have been disappearing from the shelves. Not just because people have been buying them, but in a number of stores their shelf space has disappeared too. I came to this Safeway on an off chance they might have the Dublins and they did! So happy! Hope they are able to restock the shelves so others can enjoy the Dublin goodness as well. The Safeway is large and was very neat and tidy on my visit. It had a variety of offerings in the product areas carried. And they had the cookies I was looking for! Both self check-out and in person tellers were available on my stop. I chose self check-out which was easy to use and without glitches. All around morale boosting experience.

They have several cases in the liquor section like this. I was surprised to see a wide variety of gin.

This is Safeway is now on my way home so I stop in every now and then to get items for dinner. I know there are a lot of one-star reviews but my experience here in mid-May 2019 was a pleasant one. They have an extensive liquor, mixers, wine and beer selection (for a Safeway), a fair selection of organic produce, and I had a short wait for a cashier right after work. People in the store - both shopping and working - were smiley and nice. I took a star off for the crazy parking lot. It's always packed and the spaces are a tight squeeze. If you can, park on 42nd to save yourself the hassle of navigating the lot.

I don't think anyone wants to be ripped off. It was my last night in Seattle and I wanted to cook a thank-you dinner for my friend who had been such a wonderful host. I came here to buy filet mignon to make shaken beef. I asked the guy for one piece of filet and for him to cube it. He yells to Nick in the back to cube. A few minutes later, the first guy hands me the packaged meat. I call an Uber since it's snowing and get home quickly. I open the meat package and I see ground beef. This is not what I paid $13 for! Ground beef is nowhere near the price of filet mignon. You just ruined my thank-you dinner! I didn't want to pay $8 for another Uber and then again to go back home! So I called Safeway meat section and guess who picked up? Nick. The one who 'cubed' my meat. I tell him I want a refund of my money sent to my home address. He said a manager would call me back. Call never came. I may be acting petty but $13 is still money I worked for. I was also the only one buying meat at that hour. How in the world did I get ground beef instead of filet? I can't even wrap my mind around it.

7 people (including me with the camera) in line at the deli. At 6 pm, prime dinner hour. Unbelievable. Why hasn't management been fired?

Understaffed and the slowest cashier ever. When you only one register open that team member should show some urgency. Horrible.

2 cashiers + express. Frustrating. Reminds me why I don't go to this store. Rediculous. Management should have called for another cashier

Their selection of food and fun goodies are always on rotation, so every visit is different. They even have gauchapon machines at one of the entrance. During the holidays, like Lunar New Year or New Year's holiday, they will feature food related to the cultures that celebrate the respective holidays. Once, they even had a photo feature for fans to meet the singing voice actor of Jinu (Andrew Choi) from Kpop Demon Hunters. Another time, they had Hello Kitty visit. There's a food hall with some delicious food, including their store-brand, Waji's. My son and his best friend have been nagging me for YEARS to come here so my wife and i did…read moreyesterday. My single, nagging question is "What took me so long??" No idea. The store's far larger than I'd imagined and carries far more stuff. The produce dept. got me right away when I found GREEN lemongrass (almost impossible to find in my county), black garlic, large fresh ginger--and garlic scapes (they call it spring garlic). I was especially hoping to find garlic scapes since I just discovered them and have already found a great stir-fry recipe for them. A also bought some soy sauces along with an XO sauce that are hard to find in regular supermarkets. Yes, I already have stir-fry plans for all of them. There's far more food stuff I could've bought but the question that decided me against it was "Who else in the house will eat it other than me?" The meats pre-sliced for Korean/Japanese dishes tempted me but were pricey. Besides I own a meat slicer. The one thing I didn't find which was my sole disappoint was Shaoxing wine, a Chinese rice win. They carried the cooking version but not the drinking one. Contrast that with shelves filled with Japanese sakes. I prefer Shaoxing for stir-fry dishes and already have some at home so the disappoint wasn't too great. We rarely get to Seattle so it'll be a while until we re-visit the store. The good news is that a new Uwajimaya will open in Tacoma next year. We plan to shop there a lot more often. Definitely a store worth visiting even if you don't cook Asian dishes. they carry all kinds of cooking stuff--including woks, rice makers, and lots of gadgets. Our son's friend even bought travel chopsticks. I told him he'll be required to whip those out at our next Chinese stir-fry dinner. He better like black garlic and garlic scapes.

It's always stocked, super easy to navigate, and the staff are always ridiculously helpful and friendly. Thats the secret sauce. Even with they're busy, the employees never change their attitude. The new version has hunter green straps. I was hoping that this Capitol Hill location would have it... I didn't see a parking lot. I circled the block about three times and decided to park on the street around the corner. A clerk inside the store said they have a parking garage - enter from 17th ... UHG! I'll look next time. Since we don't have Trader Joe's in Hawaii, I like to bring snacks home, but I focused this time on those canvas bags and even got some mini canvas bags and the olive green insulated totes! I also looked at the greeting cards, fresh flowers, and new items. Thanks for the convenient restroom and friendly employees! We were able to find Joey, the mascot, and received stickers and lollipops as our reward! This was a fun shopping experience!
