The check out girl, Jessica was anything but friendly. She let 2 people go in front of me because they had just a few items. I get maybe doing it once, but 2 times! Then, I had to ask her to have someone help me find something because her answer was "I don't know, it should be there." I said, "can you please have someone help me?" Then when someone came to help, instead of starting my cart with checking things out, she put another person in front of me. Very frustrating. Oh where do I start. I have shopped on and off for last two years. The store itself is dirty. Can't find stuff I need there. But I can find food which is economical and basic staples here. Never buy seafood or poultry here. Quality is not so great. Other than that the checkers are always nice. Annoyed by the guy who stands outside trying to sell change newspaper...I donate to charities all the time but do not want to be hounded while doing my grocery shopping. read more

This is my go-to choice for big name groceries in Admiral junction. They always have fried chicken breasts ready to go which the one in Alaska sometimes doesn't (happened just the other day). I like adding their roasted shredded turkey to soups and that they do stock some "healthy" brands like EVOL. They are also one of the few stores that carry the super tough cat litter liners by Johnny Cat. Parking can be nightmarish in the lower lot but you can almost always find parking on the side streets or on the upper lot. They also offer plenty of self-checkout lanes which makes getting in and out of there a speedy process. Its proximity to my neighborhood Chase bank, Verizon Wireless, Great Clips, Metro Market and PCC means I stop here at least every other day. read more

I never thought I'd be writing a review on a grocery store (I mean, either they have what you want or they don't, right?) but not only am I writing here but I was so pleased with my last shopping trip, I emailed their coroporate website. I went in for 2 items, maybe a max of 10 minutes spent there, and I had no less than 3 employees in the store ask if I was finding everything okay and 2 out in the parking lot say have a nice evening. That in itself was impressive but what pushed me into writing the review was the genuine feeling behind their questions/statements. It felt like they truly wanted to help me make sure I'd found everything and that I had a nice evening rather than the monotone "I'm required to ask this as part of my job description." Only reason I'm giving another star other than one is because it has a convenient location. Other than the the management here is so horrible. Lines are always long and they don't care about it. All departments including deli, meat department, Starbucks, and hot food place they're all short staffed oh bakery too! They need more people, and friendlier staff. Bathrooms are always dirty. They need more options as well, always out of items. Plus this store is half size of all the bigger stores. read more

The delivery trucks come and go at all hours of the night. Last night it was around midnight. they were banging around and unloading. They don't even try to be considerate of the people who live above the store or across the street. I believe Seattle has a cut off time of 10pm for deliveries, but this store obviously doesn't care about that. I've called over there many times to ask them to quiet down. most of the time they are rude or don't even answer the phone. Strange employees!! read more

I have been to few other Safeway's, this one is okay! But Not great everything was placed in the wrong place, and some stuff had issue. For example: I bought olive oil spray went back home opened it... and it was all rusty from the top and looking bad. I returned the next few days and it was leaking! I've been to my fair share of Safeways, and I think this one might actually be the worst. I live within walking distance so I shop here frequently, and I regret it almost every time. They are always understaffed, so you're bound to wait in line for what I'd consider an unacceptable amount of time. Despite the long lines, the cashiers rarely to seem to be in a rush, although some of them are very sweet. There's less variety here than at most Safeways, and they seem to run out of things quickly, especially if there's a sale. It's not so bad that I'll discontinue shopping here entirely, but there's a lot of room for improvement. read more

We think there is something wrong with this Safeway. Every time we go, either they are short cashiers, or the butcher department is all closed. I don't think they have enough employees. I'd recommend going to TJ's, QFC, or the other Safeway up California. read more

This Safeway I suppose has what you need. Occasionally, I have noticed out dated items, and vegetables and fruit not so fresh looking. But most of the time it's all ok. The deli food gets to look dried out in the afternoon, so probably should stay away from the hot food deli area. Couple of times I was at the deli, but no employees to assist me. But overall you can find all ur typical grocery items. read more

This Safeway is not a great place to shop. It feels dirty and the staff is not great. I will say that I left really uncomfortable because the manager, some guy with glasses, came over to my nice cashier and started harassing her with me standing there while I was being run up. He was asking her "were you late, why were you late." She got flustered and stopped ringing me up and showed him on the schedule at her station that she was indeed on time. He did not apologize only stalked away with only an "oh, okay". Maybe there was good reason, but it didn't need to be done in front of a customer. read more

Geeze, this is like reviewing a cousin. We have some history. Safeway is our launching point before awkward extended family major holiday mind freaks. And so the gentle commercial glow and promises of a Happy "insert holiday" make me long for years in the future when my siblings grow older and I can count on strolling the super market with them casually deciding whose perfect children will be watching whose other perfect children next weekend and we have family barbecues with family we actually like. It is this calming suburban fantasy perpetuated by entering. For me. Perhaps this spiritual and emotional reaction is because I think of security when I enter and so I see the security of a firmyl cemented family structure in my future. Because you have to be pretty financially secure to blow money on those cutsey individual heart healthy nut scams ( try bulk, save yourself about a kajillion dollars people- we are no longer a fake money/credit based economy! It's not low rent to show off a basic understanding of math through your spending habits). However I think their bagels are worth your time, as well s a lot of their breads. read more

The rating is purely for the cheese ball 70s-80s ballads they play overhead. I love it! Grocery stores particularly are on my rating radar because of this. The goofy, easy to sing alongs = higher ratings. read more

No pharmacy? What? Other than that, everything about this Safeway is pleasant and Safeway-y. The cashiers are nice and will gladly return a bottle of laundry detergent with a faulty lid and trust you when you've left the store and forgotten the milk you just bought on the counter. read more

I shop here often, The best assistant manager this place ever had (John) got transferred to another store. This store has gone way down hill since the Longtime manager ( Dave) left. Once whole foods opens up i will no longer spend another dollar in this place. read more

Now I will be the first to say, I don't like Safeway. The produce is always manufactured and flavorless, the don't have a very good selection of products or most of the higher quality products or healthy products that I normally buy. But I will say this, this is the only place we buy rotisserie chickens. I don't know why they are so good, but they are. Not only do I Iove that the put times on the chickens, so you know exactly when your chicken was cooked, but the chickens are always ridiculously juicy and delicious. I also am loving the organic Safeway brand they now carry and have found many of the products to be really good, like the Safeway Odwalla style yogurt, the natural enchilada sauce-yum, their frozen entrees and sorbet. Now if they could only get on the bandwagon and get some quality produce and other high quality brands! But I will be back for the chickens now and forever. read more

The most important part, THE GROCERIES are rotten half the time. I usually just buy meat and produce. I went there on three separate occasions and every time I came back with ground beef that was brown on the inside, red on the outside; or mushy tomatoes or brown avocados. The quality is just not there. The lighting is dingy, the music is outdated and I go to the QFC across from them instead. It costs more but at least I don't have to throw away half the food I just paid for. read more

The Safeway on 42nd Ave in West Seattle is like and old run down cabin sitting next to a shiny new mansion. With the Metropolitan Market about a block away, Safeway literally looks like an old run down cabin. Most people like Safeway because of its variety and cheap food, which I can understand, but there are many other things that make a shopping mission at that store a negative experience. The first time I walked into Safeway with my family, I don't think that there were any carts at the front of the store. We had just spent about 10 minutes of our precious shopping time looking for a parking spot, and now we were facing another problem. My mom decided to send me out to get a cart while they started shopping, so I ran outside into the unorganized cart heaven. After I had gotten a cart, I gave it to my mom and walked around the store. I had never been to a Safeway because I used to live in Lebanon, New Hampshire, which probably had about one grocery store per every 100 miles. I did like the variety that Safeway had though. They definitely had it all, and believe me, it's not expensive to shop at Safeway. The variety was good and so was the quality of the food, but the two things that really bugged me was the cleanliness and the cashiers. It's easy to explain that the store wasn't very clean, but it is almost impossible to explain the cashier's relationship with his/her customers. I don't think they ever made eye contact with us, and they talked in the same tone of voice the whole time. We left that store that day amazed with the variety of food but the cashiers had definitely pulled down our spirits. Get some spirited cashiers Safeway! read more
