Be it a toothbrush, a comb, medicine, etc., I can rest assure that I will notice something missing once I arrive at my location. Thank goodness for nearby stores... My friends & I were just running in here for a few quick supplies, some of which may or may not have been related to drinking games. Apparently, we showed up at a busy time of day, because the street around it & the store itself was packed. Just when I thoguht I was going to have to circle around for parking, I noticed a parking garage. Well, what luck! This store isn't massive, but it has a decent selection & keeps good hours. They have the basics, so it does well in a pinch. Most of the staff I've encountered have been nice & eager to help, too. I like Safeway, they have really good prices compared to some other local bigger grocery stores, their selection is good, and the staff is friendly. I like that they have a parking garage which makes it much easier to drive there and shop around, not worrying about street parking. The store layout is a little...hmm, how shall I say, not as convenient as other Safeway locations, but it's ok, it's not very big and after a while you can figure out where things are located, or just as a staff member. They have a good deli, dessert area, and a to-go lunch area which are good if you are working near by and need some food. ps- try their shish-kabobs that are all prepped and ready to go when BBQ season starts up, they are SO good! read more

Why does safeway have such little star reviews? YOU GUYS get what you want and be done. This isn't a hang out for sure. We frequent this Safeway because it's convenient, has free parking, has a starbucks (to get you through long haul shopping), and it's not too big or busy. The staff here aren't friendly but they aren't NOT friendly. They get the job done and that's pretty much all that is necessary. We had a gentleman help us in the meat department who helped us find corned beef that seemed to be sold out of SPD but he had more in a different weird spot! This Safeway is the perfect size, they are a compact version of other safeways. They sometimes have sketchy people here but sketchy people gotta eat to. read more

Free underground parking! In the heart of lower Queen Anne. I love it. This store is special to me because it's within walking distance of my work. I just discovered the grilled paninis at the deli and now plan to try every single one of them. The meatloaf panini rocked my lunch last week, I tells ya. However, I've had their Chinese food 3 times now and it was icky each time. My only beef with this store is that they don't carry my conditioner. I realize their selection of groceries can't be as big as the pimped out Safeways in the 'burbs (and I *love* the olive bars at the bigger Safeways)... but crap. Here's the deal. This Safeway is convenient. The parking garage is great. But the quality of the food and the service overpowers any reason you should go there. Tonight, I bought "fresh" oysters. Got home. Opened them up.....I have never smelled something so rancid. This is the second time in like 2 weeks that this safeway has ruined dinner. (I will say, the first time, the manager was wonderful, refunded my purchases, and replaced my items. Kudos to the GM. But....seriously, step up the quality control.) Rancid oysters. I've been going to this location for about 2 years and feel that it's about as good as it can get for a standard grocery store. Grocery shopping is certainly one of my least favorite things to do and there is nothing special about Safeway in general but the cashiers and staff at this location are always very nice and helpful. As has been reported, depending on the time of day the lines can be absolutely obnoxious. However, I feel that that's to be expected, especially in an area such as Queen Anne. Avoid the typical rush hours and you'll have a completely pleasant experience. read more

During our visit to Seattle, this little grocery store was within walking distance to the Homewood Suites. Hubby and I walked here to get a case of water during our first night in town. On our second night, we walked in on a whim, looking for salmon jerky, which we didn't find. There was a sale on regular jerky (garlic chile flavor), so we went with it. Both times, the cashiers have been friendly. During the last visit, there was a panhandler asking for money outside. Despite that, this place is convenient. read more

Today for the first time in around twenty years of shopping there, I was told by a checker to bag my groceries myself "to keep the line moving". As I looked at her in stunned silence she volunteered that they were both short staffed and implied the Corona virus had caused hoarder shopping, making for unusually long and slow moving lines. Well, they've always been short staffed there. They rarely open a third register, and always encourage use of self-check. I won't self check because (1.) I'm not their employee and (2.) I see self-checking as a way to steal jobs from people who would otherwise be hired for the task. Now, as for the Corona virus and hoarding, causing bigger delays because of bigger individual check-out loads, the store is making more money -- raise your wages to meet your staffing needs. Sorry, I'll never respond to kumbaya manipulations about "pitching in" to a contrived and phony response. And I will have second thoughts about ever going back. Its my money times at least 50 grand I've spent there over the years. On the other hand, I always liked most of the staff, and you can usually get there, as elsewhere, more with a smile and a joke than you can with a stone face. But you serve me. Regular store but a smaller one. I'd say if you were claustrophobic, you might want to skip it and hit up Metropolitan Market up the road. I've stopped in a couple of times when I've been in the neighbourhood and readily found what I needed. I also noticed super friendly employees everywhere I encountered them. There's free ample parking and the shelves were well-stocked. I didn't notice a long wait in the checkout lanes but I believe I was there during non-peak times. read more

After more than a year of spending an average of $1,000.00 a week on Safeway Delivery, they changed their website without Beta Testing it. The first failed order delivery we let go, we understand they were de-bugging things. But after the SECOND failed order, I spent 45 minutes on hold trying to reach a human, only to be told they wouldn't deliver our $250.00 order. So we're taking our $50,000.00 per year purchases to Costco. You could have fixed this issue easily, but couldn't be bothered. So good bye, Safeway. read more

I'm not crazy about the layout of this store so I don't normally shop here. The check out lines are long and they don't call extra checkers to help out. It doesn't matter if it's the lunch hour or the after work rush. Not to mention that it's not organized in any way. I have spent so much time wandering up and down every aisle looking for something specific and have even left to go to another store when I couldn't find it. The underground parking is good and I really like that they have the 15 minute covered parking spots right outside the front door. The fine people who work here are nice. This is my neighborhood Safeway. This isn't the largest of Safeway's. The selection can be very small and limited in their produce and dairy sections. But I can basically get what I need here. I like that the have a parking garage! Free parking while I shop is a must. The best part is that I don't have to get a ticket and try to remember to get it validate or need to rush my shopping because they only cover 1 hour. I hate when stores do that. Don't you want me to buy lots? I mean the longer I'm in a store the more I end up spending. This lower Queen Anne location of Safeway has its own parking garage below as well as lots of shops and things nearby. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star is because it's a Safeway. It is not the most thrifty place to buy your groceries but it is 'in' the city. They also only carry limited things of 'everything'. Not a huge produce section, not a 'huge' bakery, etc. But for small items that you need, this is the place to walk or drive to. read more

I have shopped there for 5 years. First, I rented an apartment near it. Then I moved to Magnolia and still shop at least 3 times a month. I like a smaller store, it is clean and has a good selection. They also have a great discount meat ( end of aisle where you can get great deals.) The staff is friendly, but sometimes they are not enough. I know where everything is, so that is not a problem. But the lines back up and that is frustrating. I also like the underground parking garage. The lot is safe and well lit. Plus it is flat so your cart doesn't roll away, unlike parking in many above ground lots. read more

As a starving college student, living in Seattle no less, Safeway is one of the closer, and more convenient places to shop in this city. Close to bus stops, or even walkable on a nice day, the location is rather interesting on the side of a hill, and there's underground parking for those who need it. The store's layout is a little quirky, my typical routine going through every aisle and, on the occasion I go for something different, searching the shelves for what I need. Because of the store being longer, vs. wider, aisles are awkward and products are kind of vast. Looking for the parts to make chili, I had to search the shelves a couple times to find the items I needed, and selection was sometimes sporadic, but I expect that from Safeways. On the meat front, I typically only get breakfast sausage here, but otherwise avoid their store packaged items. I've looked them over more than a couple times and find ground beef that's far too packed in, and many that have cut packaging, and overall I can get better prices and options going down to Pikes Market, of all places. Overall, the store serves its purpose. I'm typically happy with it because it has what I need, the lines are short enough, and I can typically be in and out in probably about an hour unless I decide to have some bad-habit "Chinese" food they offer there. read more

Generally you get everything you need. Its like every other safeway, though i feel its a bit smaller. You get most of the vegetables you want. Staff is helpful.They do assist you if you have difficulty in finding something. The only thing, I would have liked more is that they do not have self check kiosk. like the ones they have in some of the different location. Sometimes when it is crowded, it takes more time to stand in line to check out the food. But it is nice store where you generally find everything you are looking for. read more

That said, I've got to represent for this Safeway. Everyone working here has always been so nice to me. And I'm all about the apples all the time. I was in the wine aisle and much to my amusement Safeway now has a "wine guy" who appeared at my side asking if I needed any recommendations or help. Good location near Seattle centre...expensive but that's always expected with Safeway. Just needed to grab a few snacks and some water...cashier wasn't overly friendly and after checking us out didn't ask if we needed a bag and we just stood there waiting and had to ask for a bag. She just put it on top of our stuff and then the person that was bagging for her didn't even bag up our items so we did it ourselves. read more

Been going to Safeway for a while now. I'd say my opinion has improved slightly of the food but I've been bitten many times by the lines. I keep thinking that some kind of Sherlock-style observation and reasoning would reveal the best time to go. I'm no Sherlock yet, but I have noticed that the initial after-work rush isn't bad. It seems like the cashiers catch up with the lines then a couple lines close and then linepocalypse 15min later. My secret tips: -Line #3 is often ignored by people (over by the flowers). Tends to be shorter. -If the handcarts are all out, they're probably being carried by people. Warning sign for lines approaching. Sometimes I just skip for that day. Other tips: -The store bread at the front is pretty good. Love the semolina twist or sourdough. Store cookies in the cabinet at the front are good too. Didn't like their soups. -Employees have all been nice to me. Doesn't hurt me to be polite. They probably have it rough. -Small paper bags are free if they have them. It's the big ones you pay for. -You can swipe your Safeway card and and credit before they're done ringing you up. Have to wait until they scan the first item though. Saves a little time and keeps the lines moving. Oh and there's basically always someone out front asking for money. That might bother some people. Anyway, that's a long post just saying that Safeway is fine so long as you know what you're getting into. read more

This isn't a review on their food, but rather on the management. So if you want to know whether the produce is good or the general selection satisfactory, you can skip this one. I went in tonight to pick up some groceries (duh) and was really disappointed in how I was treated. I brought my dog along with me, who is a service animal. I was walking down the aisle when one of the workers pointed at me and said to the manager, I guess some people can't read signs on the door. Quite loud, might I add. The manager proceeded to approach me, get way too close to my face and tell me that my dog certainly could NOT be in the store. I calmly replied that he is a service animal. In a huff she turned and left. I get it, there are rules, and there are probably lots of people that break them. But there is an appropriate and sensitive way to handle these things. This was not it. I wish I could share the tone she used and look she gave throughout our interaction. As if I was some sort of criminal. The fact that I felt unwelcome with my service animal is a HUGE problem, in my eyes. It makes me rethink spending my money there. With so many other options close by, I am afraid I will not be frequenting this Safeway anytime in the foreseeable future. read more

I avoid coming to this store due to the cashiers. They are unnervingly slow. I've seen statues move faster than the employees at this location. It doesn't matter the time of day; It doesn't matter if there are long lines at all the registers. The grand majority of the cashiers move at such a slow pace. Prices and location are good. Only problem is lack of employee. Seems like at peak times there are 3 people working in the entire store. I understand it's a popular and busy area but you still need to have your location staffed. EVERY time I have gone here there are peddlers 5 feet from the front entrance of this building. The management needs to crack down on that. Also, don't go between 5-7 if you are in a hurry- there are always at least 10 people in each line even when all the check stands are open, usually they aren't though and other employees are seen walking around doing nothing. read more
