i've never really had a problem at the Safeway. Their cashiers have always been nice Mexican lady. They're fast and courteous but when you have one lady for the customer service desk and you're not busy on a Monday morning, the cashier should not have to call her three times to get to her station and her not come. In fact it was kind of embarrassing and a little frustrating for her to be right next to the counter talking to a man while they announced her that she had a customer at her desk, not once not twice but three times and stop talking to man and come help the customer read more

The store is organized and appears clean but the produce is so so. Safeway could do better for the residents of this area.

We stopped at this Safeway on our way home from a long road trip to get our hungry toddlers some fresh fruit and were hoping to get ourselves something other than the fast food we were growing sick of. They had a good selection of precut fresh fruit and veggies which was exactly what we're were looking for. After shopping around we headed to the deli area to order sandwiches. We gave our order to the gentleman behind the counter, Joe. We asked for chicken strips, which he gave us, and 2 sandwiches. He gave a look to another gentleman who was working beside him and proceeded to tell us they were out of bread. They had 5 or 6 options of bread on the menu and we said any bread is fine. We were starved and this was the only option for something to go other than fried fast food in a 50 mile radius. He apologized and said he couldn't serve us. The excuse he gave was that they had bread but it was going to be used for something else. After he said this it was clear what his message was We clearly look like outsiders and he was refusing to serve us. I have never experienced racism before. We are upper middle class Hispanic Americans with 2 kids and there is no room for people like this in the service industry. I refused to believe this and still gave it another chance. I saw a box with what looked like 30 loaves of French bread behind him. I ask him if that was bread he could use and he just looked me straight in the eye and said "No, that's also for something else. At the same time this was happening a white female customer was complaining about a Hispanic mother and her child saying that they needed to leave. Their only saving grace was a very friendly barista at the Starbucks kiosk. Terrible experience. read more

The rudest cashiers of any Safeway I've ever been to. Today was just one more terrible experience thanks to Carley the cashier. The bagger was sweet but Carley was very rude and literally grabbed the items from my young daughters hands after I told her there was milk spilled on the belt. Rather than thanking me for letting her know she got upset and rudely grabbed our stuff. If she doesn't like her job she should quit not take it out on the customers. Just because it's the only grocery in town doesn't mean good customer service has to be ignored. I rather drive 30 miles to the next town then go to this store for groceries. read more

Your average Safeway in a small town. Good for the locals. Seems like a lot of high school kids come here after school. It was nice having the cafe to get some sandwiches compared to the normal fast food out there. The cafe service was a little slow for the lunch time hours. I got a turkey bacon chipotle sandwich on a soft roll that came hot. It was pretty tasty. I'd eat it again. One good thing is they have a Starbucks inside. read more

Best grocery shopping with EVERYONE WEARING MASKS! Staff and shoppers all wearing them appropriately. So impressive after having gone into some in Flagstaff & Springerville (the worst by far) AZ. Will remember Willcox Safeway next time we visit. read more

Bought cookies at Safeway was going to freeze 2/3. When I went to sort cookies found half eaten one buried under others. Yuck! Package was sealed so had to come out of bakery that way. Once again poor quality and poor product from this store. read more

Grumpy shelf stickers. Seems management is over using some of the employees. The cashiers are friendly. The chip shelves seem to be pretty empty on name brand chips every time I go in there. Bakery is good but again unhappy clerk when I approached. Produce is not great and seems slim pickings often. Prices seem higher than the other stores as well. We live in Willcox and Prescott and There's a big difference in store quality but Willcox doesn't have any competition so.... read more

Decided to buy a sandwich from the deli for lunch. I had the Turkey,bacon and avocado sandwich. I noticed that the jalapeños they had on the deli counter looked rotten. I passed on the jalapeños. The sandwich was terrible. I should have known better! I took one for the team! 2 hours later (Montezuma's Revenge) was alive and well! So, to make a long story short, please don't eat here. Prices are "blown up" even sale prices...the manager Jim is completely and totally rude when at the customer service desk...I absolutely DO NOT recommend this location...do yourself a favor and drive a few miles to Benson AZ, even after paying for gas for the trip, you still save $$$ compared to the Willcox AZ store prices read more

The Willcox Safeway isn't perfect, but I understand that it's difficult to keep the shelves stocked in such a remote town. The pharmacy is excellent. My complaint is about the meat department. They create new names for cuts of meat so you can't tell what they really are. Twice I have been lied to by one of the butchers about what I was buying. BBQ boneless chuck rib doesn't exist and turned out to be as tough as a boot and to taste nothing like chuck. I was told a cut I didn't recognize was actually ribeye. It, too, was like shoe leather. I don't like being lied to and will drive to another town to stock up once a month. read more

The prices here clearly reflect that Safeway is the only grocer for miles. You have to watch even the sale prices. This is a very poor town, and the people here deserve better. I give three stars because the cashiers all seem to be good, it's always clean and well-stocked, and the service is always great. But I have my doubts about upper management. I went online and asked that they replace the burned-out light bulbs in the parking lot light fixtures, and please take down whatever is completely blocking light from coming out of a third of the front windows. (A giant freezer for ice.) Update: At night, the store looked closed, and if you went anyway, you couldn't see the employees very well in the dark parking lot, because their uniforms are black. If they went out to retrieve shopping carts, or to go on or off duty, they were taking their lives in their hands. I never got a reply (either from the corporate office or the local store) but in the fullness of time, the burned out bulbs in the parking lot lights were replaced. read more
