Today Saturday Oct. 28th I was shopping at this store, but needed to use the restroom. The restroom is located at the back of the store, once inside the restroom the door jammed and I could not get out. The door handle was broken and the big steel door would not open, I started to panic and screamed for help after about 10 minutes a kind women asked me if I wanted to get out, and of course I said yes. She was able to push on the door from the outside and finally I was free. The toilet seat was broken which should have been the first clue of the horrible situation and the health hazard not just physically but mentally. I am not a crazy person but I did panic and feel trapped. I will never go to the store again and will tell every one I know about this. read more

This review is for the deli department only: Ok so first let me say that I have lived in Windsor for years and while yes the lines are super long and they never have enough people at the registers I've never had a truly horrible experience until today. Today I went with my friend to get a sandwich from the deli department. When we got there we had to wait 10 minutes before anyone would come and help us and there were several people in the back not really doing anything and no other customers around. When the girl finally came over to help us I noticed her gesturing to someone standing behind us and when I turned around it was another employee making rude gestures and complaining that we were there and that they had to make a sandwich. When she finally started making the sandwich they were out of pesto sauce that I wanted on my sandwich and she refused to go out in the store to get more even though they have done that for me several times before and I had to find another employee to help me. When my sandwich and my friends was finally made we payed and left. When I sat down to eat my sandwich I realized she didn't put any turkey on the sandwich even tho I told what I wanted on it 3 times during the long process of her making it. When I went back to the store to get the sandwich re-made the guy agreed to give it to me for free but after the whole process before I didn't even want the sandwich. Summery: The customer service here sucks. Employees are rude and disrespectful and it's not even worth it. Save your money and just go somewhere els or make a sandwich at home. read more

I really love Windsor Safeway but my gosh today was the worst after a long day off work to come through this rude employees line really topped it off. Elsie was beyond rude! She was NOT helpful & made me leave her line because she did not know how to use a wic coupon. Like really!!! As hard enough as it is with using these coupons. She made it more of a hassle then what it needed to be! Then as I'm leaving the store I heard her saying rude remarks! I can not believe this rude lady is an employee she does not know what she is doing! read more

Best Safeway in Sonoma county! (Although the sushi guy in RP is better) they've got a neat little bulk foods section with some really nice loose leaf tea. I've gotten quite a few cakes done here and have been happy with them all read more

This is a huge Safeway--large produce section, wide aisles, Jamba Juice, deli, bakery, etc. They have a large frozen food section with several items not available at other Safeway locations. This is a great place to stock up on groceries if you are visiting the area. Bring your Safeway card for great discounts. read more

Service isn't terrible, but not great, just okay, (hit or miss). Produce leaves much to be desired. Also, the store always feels like it needs more light-especially in the baker/deli area. On a plus side, shelves always appear fully stocked. read more

So we decided to go here to purchase some wine on a last minute whim. We are not explicit shoppers at stores that have self check out centers and especially not Safeway stores in general. As we started to purchase the wine at a self check out station we were stopped by a message on the screen. The assistant said she's be over nicely, however, when she came by and saw the message, she proceeded to make us feel like we were stealing Christmas because a rule dating back to October stated that alcohol could not be purchased at self check outs. Ok, a simple "Oh I am so sorry guys you'll have to go to a normal checker to purchase you libations" would have been just fine. Rude.... Rude.... very Rude and un-holiday like. Shame on you rude lady! And I am so sure no one in the Safeway Windsor, CA branch will respond. They didn't last time but this negative review of rudeness will still remain on this yelp account as will our other negative review from the pharmacy. read more

I live in Windsor, and typically shop at Safeway. I am done with them. The attitude of the employees is horrible. The person who checked me out was rude and obviously wanted to be ANY place than at work. The atmosphere is horrible, I don't know what has changed, but at least the people at Raley's and Oliver's are friendly and appear to be happy to get my business. Thank GOD for choices. read more

I have lived in Windsor for over 5 years and had the Calistoga Rd Safeway in Santa Rosa close to me before then. That Safeway is owned by Albertsons makes sense, to explain its awful produce, inedible seafood, suspect mis-labeling pricing, over-rings at the check-out, sometimes rude workers, slow lines. I've experienced early sell-outs of advertised items in the height of holiday season, multiple returns of bad seafood, and last time, a completely bad watermelon and very poor quality cherries. Also last time, a seeming bait/switch with a higher-priced chicken being under the sign for the advertised item, with the latter no where in sight. If I didn't fully inspect my receipts, I don't know how much money I would have lost through the years. Multiply that by what, thousands every day? I've honestly thought to contact our state commerce dept... Needless to say, I'm done going to Safeway. read more

This particular review is for the deli dept.. I have never received such poor service and this was almost 6 months ago and i am still reminded of it constantly because it bothered me so much. The woman making my sandwich, a younger curly blonde haired girl with glasses, kinda funny looking, was so incredibly rude not only to me but to the guy in front of me also. I was floored by her attitude and lack of efficiency. In the middle of making my sandwich she stopped and started having a convorsation with another customer she knew, I had to interrupt her and tell her I was kinda in a hurry and she gave me a dirty look and right in front of me looked at her friend and said "there are so many people in a hurry today, how come some cant just smile and say hello?" I couldnt beleive it. Then when she was done and handed me my sandwich, in the most rude way she smiled and said "please have a nice day" in a sarcastic way. Along with alot of other stuff she did in the 20 min I was there. I told so many people how crazy it was she worked there and treated her customers that way, and how slow she was, almost on purpose, and I still think about it! read more

Have shopped at Windsor Safeway since it opened in 1994 . Now hardly at all. The employees can't even say hello or thank you. Started going to self check. What a joke. Can't get any assistance and the girl April ever smiled or said thank you I'd fall over. She needs a personality. Disgusting. Last month I purchased rotten chicken, though the date indicated on the package was days from the "sell by" date. I also returned 3 containers of coconut milk for having broken safety seals on 3 separate occasions. Last Friday (10/21/16) the produce department was FULL of fruit flies. Fruit flies everywhere! Really gross. Yesterday (10/29/16) the organic produce was full of fruit flies. When I mentioned it to the cashier, she shrugged and laughed. Worst pharmacy in Windsor Ca! I've been coming here about 5 months and every month there's a problem with my prescriptions. Dr put 2 prescriptions on one paper. They only filled one...what did they think all of the other words on the paper were for? My Dr does a 28 day prescription.....every month i have to argue with them because they want me to wait 2 days more to refill an opiate prescription. Then Dr sends one prescription in, and i see her before the prescription is filled and we change it. So she cancels the old one and sends a new one. When i go to get the new one they give me the old one. I didn't notice until i got to my car. So i brought it back in. Then I'm told legally they can't take them back. I say, that's fine the prescription was cancelled so i don't think it's legal for them to fill it. Of course they fixed it but only after trying to blame me for their mistake. This time i went in thinking, hoping they would have their shit together this month. The prescription was faxed a week ago. I get there it's not filled. Lady says give them a few minutes and they'll get it for me. I did my shopping and put stuff in the car then went back to pick it up. Now they tell me the pharmacist went to lunch and didn't fill it and can i come back later. I said I'd wait. They said it will be another 30 minutes or so. Not coming back here again. Every month an issue I'm not going to wait until they give me the wrong prescription and kill me. read more

Worst Safeway in the Sonoma County area! This is my second time at this Safeway when the 15 or less lanes were not opened. I had 7 items, including beer, so I could not use the self check out. I asked why the 15 item or less check out was not opened again...and I was told "or it should be opened" and I continued to wait for at least 15 minutes. I asked to speak to the manager, who is a women name Ceila. She didn't seem to care. She said "sorry about that" as if she'd heard this complaint before! There was a women in line behind me and she had 4 items, with wine, and she said this has happened to her at this store before. I will NEVER shop at this Safeway again. I live in Santa Rosa, and I have never had this happen to me at any of those Safeways. My time is valuable too. When I'm in Windsor I will shop at Raley's, even though I am a faithful Safeway shopper, as at least at Raley's they have great customer service there. DO NOT SHOP AT THE SAFEWAY IN WINDSOR!!!! read more

Safeway has been out of product out of other products besides their own Safeway brand off code just has been horrible Poor selection Lines have been incredibly long I feel that some other huge box store type of operation has purchased the Safeway stores thank God we have Raleys across the street read more
