From fresh fruit to gyoza, and pretty rocks to homemade blankets, the Windsor Farmers Market ticks all the marks. It's a nice outdoor atmosphere, with lots of small shops and friendly folk selling their wares. This is an overpriced market. We did find a few interesting deals, but mostly the fruits and vegetables were priced above equal or better items at whole foods or Oliver's. The booths in front of the library were the worst - prices were double what they would be at whole foods - which isn't cheap. I don't think I'll go back. read more

I ended up getting a small succulent from Ukiah Succulents and it brightens up our home! One of my favorite farmers markets. It's a must stop on Sunday mornings before heading to healdsburg for wine tasting. From unique bouquets of flowers, freshly baked pastries, local fruits and veggies, yummy raviolis (made from local ingredients) and of course the smoked salmon. If nothing else, if you like smoked salmon you MUST stop here. I can't remember the vendor's name but every time we've come to this market they've been there and we've purchased smoked salmon from them every time. If you're not sold by my review just walk by the vendor and they will be happy to provide you a HUGE sample to try. That's how they hook you in. Been to a few FM's in Sonoma County and this is by far my favorite! Great produce vendors, unique artisan booths and just a terrific variety of booths full of helpful friendly people. It's also a great location with lots of parking and at a nice park that allows for a fun picnic afterwards. Also, seem to have lots of community events in conjunction with the FM. I love this local farmers market. It is surprisingly robust for the size of the market. It is a fraction of the size of the market at Wells Fargo, but I feel packs a more worthwhile punch for the experience. Most weekends it has yummy caterers such as The Green Grocer (sighing with hunger), BBQ, and seafood. The fruits and veggies are beautiful, local, and ready for your enjoyment. The vendors are all super friendly and willing to share samples and answer questions. I just love coming up here and strolling the block. Sweet, simple, and perfect. You can get fresh baked breads, jams, eggs, fruits, veggies, fresh brewed coffee, soup starters, smoked and fresh dish, pasta, seasonings, and sausages. Also gifts such as jewelry, and pottery. The Windsor Farmer's Market is always bringing something special to the town of Windsor! Located in the newly developed town green, the market is a venue for the community to put into action some of it's most noteworthy and RECORD BREAKING events! This past Sunday for instance, our local High school teamed up with another high school to raise funds for their Culinary Arts program. They brought in the Local Celebrity Michelle Anna Jordan ( I love her) to break her own 2003 record for the WORLDS BIGGEST BLT! it was beautiful! They sold very nice sized pieces of the sandwiches, and they were selling pretty well! The old record: 108 ft. this one in Windsor... 120 ft! We also have the record for the world's largest pumpkin pie, which was had by all in the town green on a Thursday Night Farmer's Market.in Oct. '03 The pie weighed a whopping 418 lbs. The Market Here is open on Sundays 10 am - 1 pm and Thursdays 5-8 pm. This is one of the real dazzling ones, not the biggest, but the quality is great! about 50 vendors which include artists and crafts people. You will find Breads, honey, oils, oysters, flowers,and many other amazing things besides the organic fruits and veggies that just scream out BUY ME ! I go crazy at this market! good thing i was so busy taking photos this time, my hubby was the one throwing back the goodies! read more

Small but mighty..... what a nice little market. I do agree with the last reviewer that it would be nice to have more farmers.... but I enjoy the feel of all the food vendors... Its like being at a fair and with the wonderful large and I do mean larger lawn area for seating with your own chairs it is perfect venue to listen to some of the great music talent in the north bay. Do you like corn dogs? Ohhhhh my god if you do there is a vendor at this market that makes the best corn dog I have ever had... it is huge and the batter is really what a corn dog should be. It is crispy on the outside and just a perfect amount of moist on the inside. They make a Corn Dog or a Cajun Corn Dog.... big I mean really big for 3 bucks!!! And if corn dogs aren't your thing.. well they have Mexican food, Thai food, sushi, Cajun food, bar-b-que'd oysters, grilled lobster, brick oven pizza.... Everything is covered for ya. What impressed me the most about this mini fair as I prefer to think of it was how many groups of families and friends came... set up their eating area, brought food from home.... some had nice little tables set in their area with a bouquet of flowers, one group of about 10 friends were conducting their own wine tasting event, another set up a card table with a table cloth and had what looked like a nice Mexican feast including margaritas. It was family and friend fun at its best. Thursday is the night... it starts at 5:00..... It was a perfect end to a perfect day in Sonoma County. read more

There really should be a seperate review for the Thursday night Summer Nights events....completely different experience from the Sunday farmers market. I went to the Thursday event and was amazed...it was more like an annual event than a weekly - people everywhere; not just blankets and a bottle of wine - but tables, chairs, much bottles of wine and food, like they were there for the day....will come at five next time! Thursday night market is more food vendors, and many great choices...make it dinner here. I think someone sold wine/beer but didn't see any, and seems most brought their own. Dogs abound too, Flash will be in tow next trip as well. The Sunday market is good; I'd like to see 1-2 more food vendors - especially one that served something breakfast-y. Both great events though, and 2 miles away! :) read more

I've been going to the Windsor Farmer Market for years now and continue to love it! You can pick up so many different delights - it's great! Fresh veggies and fruits, fresh fish, smoked salmon (sooooo good!!!), desserts, fresh baked breads, plants, handmade jewelry, pottery/ceramics, local/artisan cheeses, olive oils, honey...and the list goes on! They usually have some sort of music/band going and that is nice touch! The Windsor Towne Green is a beautiful area to begin with and it's such a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon! read more

So lovely, beautiful people working here in a delightful setting. Special love goes to the dedicated farmers of Lets Go Farm with the sweetest strawberries I've ever tasted. Both farms on either side of the Lets Go booth are phenomenal and run by great people. All organic produce that will fully satisfy your nutrient needs and tastebuds. Spring Hill has amazing cheese and butter, the vendor is very kind. Duncan's mushrooms are dynamic as dynamic as the man himself. At the far end Hilltop Honey offers wonderful products (I'm all about their muscle rub) and the couple providing the products are very sweet. Theres also a plant vendor on the end right next to windsor road who is always willing to go inform anyone who asks about his plants and products in detail. read more

So in the name of full disclosure, I have to admit that I'm a bit biased here- my mom works for the Town of Windsor, and has really been the one that plans the entertainment for the "Thursday Nights on the Green" (which accompany the Thursday Night Farmer's Market during the summer). That being said, I think that they have done a fabulous job of balancing the market itself, the musical entertainment, and the general community get-together that happens on Thursday evenings. The music has always been good- the variety throughout the summer has traditionally been excellent... running the gamut of folk and pop styles. The only complaint that I have is that the crowd changes a bit with there is a "blues" band playing... and specifically, I'm talking guitar driven, Delta or West Coast blues. The clientele tends to be a bit rougher, and harder drinking (while it's typically only beer and wine, it seems to be more prevelant at these shows). As a father of a 2 year old, it concerns me slightly, and I hope that these shows stay limited to just one, or at most two weeks out of the summer. Bravo, Windsor, for putting together a great community event like this. I hope that it meets it's initial goal, which is to stimulate business for the downtown merchants. Oh, and btw.... though parking can get tight, there when a bigger act is performing, there is usually shuttle service from the high school, which is not far. read more

I love the Windsor Farmers Market. Lots of great vendors. Love the Town Green. It's easy to get to and there is lots of parking all around the Town Green. Try these vendors: We love Rays Bakery (best bread in Sonoma County!), I've loved everything I've tried of theirs. Try the brownies or the lemon squares, or the sea salt sourdough, any bread really or the mini pizzas. All amazing. We have several favorite vendors that we buy fruits and veggies from... love that a couple of vendors sell sweet wine grapes for eating during harvest season. I will have to get some names of them and list them here later. I love Neufeld Farms dried fruits and fresh fruits. I've probably bought from every veggie/fruit vendor here and they are all really great. There is a mushroom vendor (Duncan's Gourmet Growers) that is amazing and you will get the most beautiful of mushrooms for the best prices in town. He provides mushrooms to some really nice local restaurants. The mushroom is local and hasn't sat in the display for a week before you bought it. He puts it in a paper bag, put that in the refrigerator and it will last a long time compared to any store bought mushroom. Love his portobellos! I wish it were a bit larger but it has been growing in the last couple of years. Would love to see more fresh, hot food vendors like at the other market in SR. We love the Green Grocer and some of the other vendors there like the Greek guy and such and it would be nice to see some natural hot food vendors come in to the Windsor Market. Lots of families make it a weekly breakfast or lunch at the market in SR. read more

This was a cute little farmer's market. I think more local of a farmer's market than what we really get in some of the bigger cities... maybe more of the farmer than market you might say. Lots of local stuff, some small booths of arts and crafts. All the people were very friendly and things were quite tasty there. Had no problem with parking, and the nearby open space of grass and kids jungle gym was very convenient as well. read more

Awesome local farmers market. I visited here in late fall and was surprised to see vendors I don't normally see at the other large Santa Rosa Markets. There were also several craft vendors with high quality, decent priced items. Oh, and Mama Tina's homemade Ravioli is also sold here. You have got to try this one! All the normal offerings, a couple of local bakeries too. Although I live in East Santa Rosa, I will continue to make the drive. read more

Went on a Thursday. Found some parking by Mickey D's up the street. Tons of people sharing space on the town green with blankets, chairs, ice chests and food. Definitely looked like the right way to enjoy some live music. We appreciated our sunny stroll up the side street, closed off for the farmers market. Lots of tasty baked goods. Enjoyed some huge coconut, macaroon & chocolate chip cookies ($2) very, very tasty. Also bought some cupcakes, ($3) from the same vender, but was less impressed. We decided to split a fish sushi burrito for 9 bucks @ the Sushi Shobu stand. The fish was Haddock, soft & moist, covered in a sweet glaze. Other ingredients; crunchy lettuce, carrot & cucumber slivers, along with white rice, all wrapped in a Nori wrapper. Franco's Old World Sausages filled up the stomach. Chose the apple sausage, juicy, didn't pick up on too much apple flavor. Probably because I piled high caramelized onions & bell peppers with my every bite. Try out their various mustards, I went with the beer one, forget the name, but was really happy with it. First off this market was pretty small, just one short side street. Also, we were disappointed that there were only two produce stands. We planned on picking up a few things, but there was only one kind of tomato to pick from (small and few I might add) and 2 kinds of lettuce, green & red leaf. Had a good time regardless. Just learned after trying it out on a Thursday, it's mostly a concert venue. read more

It's not the largest farm market in the area but they do have a bit of everything to offer. Nice having a purveyor like Santa Rosa Seafood here to avoid the trip to Santa Rosa Avenue. A few too many craft and prepared food stands but the most produce stands that show up are excellent and many are organic. Just be sure they are actually local and not stands that come in from the Central Valley. On Sundays there is always some local music for entertainment and usually a chef or restaurant owner giving a cooking demonstration. Would I drive 20 miles to attend this Sunday Market, no but if you are local (we are) it's worth the trip. read more

This has to be the nicest Farmer's Market in the county! Plenty of parking, lots of booths and the proprietors are super nice. Prices are reasonable and when you're done shopping you can eat some of your purchases in the park. Windsor presents the Farmer's Markets on two nights, Thursday and Sunday. I've found that Sunday is a better day to go because the traffic on a week night is backed up all the way onto the 101 off ramp into town. Save time and money and take advantage of the numerous vendors selling their wares that range from cheese to vegetables and beignets to seafood all in one convenient location without having to travel no further than the Town Green! We picked up fresh lettuce from Min He Hill Gardens...seriously, they have the best lettuce around. It is so fresh and crispy and stayed that way for two solid weeks. Also saw some old friends, Grandma from Grandma's Pumpkin Patch in Healdsburg, CA. They were selling their eggs! Who knew? Had a nice long chat with them and who knows...there might be an article in that for the future! Check out the Windsor Farmer's Market! You won't be disappointed! read more

I've had the good fortune of being a resident of Windsor or over 20 years. One of my very FAVORITE things about living here is the Windsor Certified Farmers Market. Two of my all time favorite vendors that are there every week are the Santa Rosa Seafood Company and Duncan's Mushrooms. This years season starts on Sunday April 12, 2015 and I can't wait for them to open. Tina Casteli is a excellent example of a great community leader. We move this farmer 's market and literally come every Sunday during the summer. It is a lot smaller than most other farmer 's market but it's super clean and less people. Parking might be a little difficult but not impossible. We love the kettle corn here. It is a husband and wife that runs it and their kettle corn is really the best we've ever had. The produce are locally grown and very fresh. It is the same vendors that we see every year and you can tell that they take pride in what they are offering. Customer service is always great from everyone. Everything is great here from the hummus guy, the ravioli stand, the cheese area, freshly baked cookies lady.. I mean we have been to every stand and just love it all. read more

The Mexican food shop was 5 star good in the past, but they are getting cheap. Prices have gone up by 30%, filler has increased in burritos by 50%. I would much rather pay $13.00 for a burrito with a good portion of meat than I would pay less for a tortilla full of rice. read more

I was so happily surprised when I went to the Thursday night farmers market. Such a fun, family oriented atmosphere! Packed with people, everyone happy to sit around drinking vino, dancing and listening to the great music! Best part, dogs are welcome!! A lot of other farmers markets don't allow dogs but this event does! Get there early to save yourself a spot on the grass and in the parking lot. read more

I really like this farmers market. It does not have everything we would like to see but it does have quite a bit. There is not a natural meat company there but lots of other great things to tempt you. Prices are pretty good here as well. Parking is usually not an issue either. read more

I use hummus guys hummus on everything (in lieu of dips, spreads, mayo) and all his flavors are yummy: black bean, avocado, chilly and more.
