Many times they've been out of basic items like fresh herbs, avocados and limes. What's standout here are their bagels! Check out the ridiculous amount of cheese crisp on these! As big as your head! You need to get there early though because they're usually gone by 11am. Pharmacy: We had a horrendous experience when my significant other had an emergency appendectomy and we had the hospital send the meds here. We waited numerous days for pain meds. This is our go to Safeway when staying in Incline. Well the Incline Raley's is where we really shop, but we go to this Safeway when driving to Heavenly Ski Resort from Incline. Quality/Quantity - Good. Atmosphere - Easy in and out. If you can not make the left turn, do it at the light and come in from the side. Plenty of parking, they could have done a better job plowing through. Open 24 hours, thanks. Service - Good, needed to make a pit stop on our long way back to The Bay. The team member at the register told me where the bathrooms were; I entered through the opposite doors. Still easy & quick in and out. Price - Consistent. Surprised by the negative reviews, but I didn't try the deli. My friend that is a good cook shops here and I thought I would give it a try. The CA Safeway may have squeezed more merchandise in their small store, but for some reason I feel cluster phobic. The NV Round Hill was laid out nicely. I found everything on my grocery list (ground lamb, chorizo, my favorite Barilla Protein + pasta, frozen scallops, refrigerated Asian noodles, eggplant, etc.) with some help from employees, except an India Curry sauce...they did offer 4 or 5 curry options. It was $167 for 6 (5 ingredient) meals from Reader's Digest. With a second home that can't leave anything in the fridge many 5 Ingredient cookbooks use jar sauces for flavor, I wouldn't mind an expanded International aisle. I would probably go to Whole Foods for Gourmet's or Jamie Oliver's cookbook. Really pleased and I will return! read more

Terrible pharmacy service! I went to pick up a prescription asthma inhaler after I had my doctor send the generic version instead of the name brand of Breo. The pharmacist told me with complete confidence that a generic version of Breo doesn't exist. After a quick Google search, I found out that that's not true and there is indeed a generic version available elsewhere for cheaper. I don't appreciate the pharmacist lying to me about it not existing at all. To say you don't have it available is one thing- but to lie and say it doesn't exist on the drug market anywhere is so dumb. read more

I have lived in tahoe for many years but haven't been to this deli in awhile. I decided to get a sandwich made by Alex and while making the sandwich he would name different ingredients that they were out of the whole time. I got 3 ingredients that were actually on the sandwich. He also overloaded it with so much sauce that I couldn't even eat it. At the end I asked if I could pay for it there and he told me no even though I saw others paying there. I had a racist and homophobic experience from Mike the pharmacy manager that always wears the mask right under his nose. I was there picking up my prescription and it was the third time I was showing up because they partially filled twice and they told me it wasn't ready and I expressed that I received a text about the medication being ready as I always do and he said "you're lying" are you kidding? Who are you to call me a liar? When I expressed how insulting it was for him to call me a liar he then went ahead to threaten me about not filling any future medications. I'm not sure if it's because I'm Italian and I have an accent or because he's aware that I'm married and gay. I will file an official complaint with Safeway headquarters as well. read more

Closest grocery store to Zephyr Cove - a very beautiful beach area. If your here you might be a tourist who had to make an emergency beer run. Large parking lot - lots of parking. A very average Safeway experience. The store itself is large and spread out and hard to find things. I dislike how every Safeway seems to have a different layout. The deli is insanely bad. I'd say comically bad, but nothing was funny about it. The people behind the counter are just not right for the job. They are slow and the woman who made my sandwich was condescending and rude. Even the way she kept calling me "hon" was condescending. She had to ask what I ordered over and over and got distracted repeatedly and seemed confused. She put about a cup of mustard on my sandwich so it was inedible. I was afraid to say anything to her because I was afraid she'd bark at me. There is a public beach nearby so having a deli with workers who are physically able to do the job is crucial because of the high volume. Several people in line were clearly not happy. I'm glad Safeway provides jobs to everyone, but please place them in roles where they aren't a detriment to business. If they can't make a sandwich in less than 10 minutes, they shouldn't be working at the deli. I normally wouldn't write a review about this, but the exact same thing happened last time we visited this deli about a year ago. I was hoping the last time was a one time experience. read more

Worst safeway ever! I was forced to use them for a medication pick up at the pharmacy and I called to fill my prescription but the people refused to pick up. They would answer and immediately leave me on hold for 30+ minutes only to answer it to hang up the phone on me not once or twice but thrice. Because of that, I was forced to drive 45 minutes to the nearest pharmacy that would be able to fill my meds. These were really important too so I was extremely disappointed this store was no where as good as it's counterpart safeway in Tahoe smh. I was in Tahoe this past weekend and we rented a house. Of course with a rental, we had to buy groceries. This safeway came in perfectly - probably less than a 10 min drive from where we were staying, and had everything we needed. I was able to buy everything in such a quick turn around and the staff there was so friendly. I enjoyed shopping at this Safeway and they had some amazing deals! Safeway seems to be the only major grocery store chain up here at Lake Tahoe, with locations at Zephyr Cove, Kings Beach and Tahoe City. This store seemed a little smaller than the rest, though I didn't need to do any major shopping. The parking lot here is a little crowded at times, especially in the winter when they plow the snow into big piles taking up some of the parking spots. The inside looks pretty clean and modern. Prices are a little higher than down in Sac at the supermarkets, but ya gotta figure shipping the food up here costs, so you'll have to deal with Tahoe pricing. I was here just to get some sunglasses as I just lost mine. There's a reason not to get $300 sunglasses, stick to the cheap ones that look about the same and you won't be so upset when you lose or sit on them! The glasses were a little hard to find at first, but they did have one carousel of choices. I got a pair and that was good for me. The checkout was fast no probs. I have no probs with this Safeway, I'll return if needed. Sales tax is less than CA too! read more

This store has really gone down hill! First when hiring J1 you should train them to be respectful. The deli workers last night were so rude and didn't want to work. Instead of helping they said they were closed at 7pm and went outside to smoke. I then saw another worker slicing meat for a customer while I was getting bread. I'm a local and that was unacceptable! I talked to a worker I recognized and she apologized for there behavior and told me to go to the deli and they would slice me whatever I wanted. I was already at the checkout line so I told her it's ok. I know summers are crazy up here but that doesn't give the new hires a pass. STAR IS AN ANGEL, everyone at that store is but today she happened to be outside when I walked out of the store in a hurry and accidentally dropped a bottle of Kambocha with glass everywhere. I was ready to just pick it up and leave but she made sure to guide me back inside to pick another bottle to replace it for free. That was the kindest thing ever. Star is not the only one to show me kindness in this location, the ladies both daytime and nights are incredible and I wish I knew everyone by name because they deserve recognition.They go out of their way to help me find something, even when it's not on the shelf they check the back. This is the closest Safeway from Kingsbury so I am there every week and not one bad attitude in this store. They could be miserable at their job but they are consistently sweet, helpful and they do it with big smiles on their faces, even the new hires are great! Before they even knew I wasn't a tourist and am a local, they treated me like a VIP which unfortunately means I am not special just because I am black haha! they just treat every person equally giving a 100% everytime. On Bakery. Came for a slice of cake. The only slices they had was the colossal which are always very dry. The "boat" was pretty under stocked. I worked at a Safeway bakery and we had to have it overflowing and stuff under the shelves also. They had a couple double layer cakes. But I would say only about 1/8 of the boat/refrigerated area was stocked. read more

Safeway has been the only supermarket that has wowed me with service! Being a Tahoe local, this Safeway is the one I happily go to. Everything in here is clean, neat, and organized. Items are very easy to find. They have sales all the time and the staff and service here is what really keeps me coming back! From the cashiers to the deli staff, to the Starbucks baristas and all the staff in between. Everyone there is very helpful and kind. I'm not use to that kind of service at a supermarket, especially moving from LA. Great customer service hardly ever exists, let alone from a supermarket. Good selection but higher prices than on the other side of the lake! It should be noted that variances in state taxes and other reasons account for the price differentials between CA and NV Safeway locations. I was shocked to checkout and find that none of my items I had loaded on my Safeway app were being applied to my purchase. The manager had to explain to me that the deals on the app are only good at the location set in the app and that normally they would not be able to do anything about that. Since I wasn't aware of this she adjusted the cost of the items that one time but let me know she wouldn't be able to honor those advertised deals in the future unless they were listed for her store address on the app. Lesson learned! At least they have a manager that knows why the app wasn't working - previously I've had issues in other states and they didn't know why it wasn't populating at the end of the transaction. read more
