Probably our top meal in London. Before I talk about the food, I want to highlight excellent…read moreservice. One of our group has a tomato allergy and we weren't sure how much of a selection he would have. The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. That said, it was a busy weekend and the place looked fairly full by the time we left, so maybe grab a reservation. Enjoy!

Everyone I know who visits London comes home raving about this place, so even though I'd never had…read moreIndian food before, I had to see what the hype was about. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks, with a front patio, a bar, and multiple dining rooms. It was completely packed. After 6 p.m. it's walk-in only, and the hostess gives you a buzzer while you wait. I started with the house chai, which was warm and perfectly spiced. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Ruby, basmati rice, garlic naan, and crispy okra fries. Now I get the hype. The Chicken Ruby was rich, spicy, and packed with flavor, the naan was perfect for soaking up every bit of sauce, and the okra fries were so crunchy I couldn't stop eating them. This place absolutely lived up to its reputation. They also serve breakfast, and there's so much on the menu that I already plan to come back a few more times before I leave London.

Was house hunting in Walthamstow when I came across this one. A great place for non-vegetarian…read morefellows looking for some Spicy Indian food in Walthamstow. Vegetarian dishes were only average. Sambhar was terrible. The quantity of Kuthu Porotta they serve is humungous. I just couldn't imagine a normal person being able to finish it. They serve it with eggs, chicken or lamb. I tried the chicken version. It was pretty good. Curries are okay. Not the best. Price is generally on the moderate side. Drinkers might love this place though. Spicy food and drinks go very well together.

Priya bills itself as a modern take on south Indian and Sri Lankan resturant. I went on a Friday evening to get a takeway. It took 20 minutes to take my order, then over an hour to actually get it, despite being continually told it would be 5-10 minutes. I don't have a problem with any restaurant being busy, but I do have a problem with their dishonesty. If it was going to take a while, they should have let me decide whether it was worth the wait, not string me along. After the wait, the food was below average for me. What was supposed to be a dish with string hoppers (a regional speciality sort of soft ride-noodle cake), turned out to have had the string hoppers finely chopped into the main dish a la a Biryani. As someone who has spent months in Sri Lanka, this was completely new. It wasn't described as such on the menu either. As dish it didn't work. Overall it was underspiced and basically pretty dull. A friend who I bumped into there on that evening had much more successful masala Dhosas though, hence the extra star in my review.
