Sage Crystals was on my list of places to visit when we went shopping in Portland, but it was a "if there's time" stop so how lucky that it was next door to Black Wagon Kids, which was a definite stop. Sage Crystals is a beautiful store. It's very large, much larger than most crystal shops for the merchandise on display, but that makes it a pleasure to shop. You're not elbow to elbow with others looking (rocks and crystals are tiny, so elbow to elbow isn't necessarily hyperbole for a place like this) or looking in dusty cups, because it's gleaming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was greeted upon entry and the person who welcomed me let me know the store is organized by intention.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You are asked to use hand sanitizer if you plan to touch any of the stones. I picked up a couple pairs of earrings here, one of which is an adorable set of bats made of smokey quartz. I also selected a bracelet made of small iolite stones, which is my favorite gem. I went to the store for the first time this week even though it's a drive. I appreciate the ethical stance on the crystal trade and enjoyed looking through the wide selection of stones and crystals while I was there. There were several staff members circulating through the store and each one of them was determined to have a conversation with each of the customers. I found this distracting as I was trying to experience the energy of the crystals and am overall rather introverted. Despite my disinterest in conversation I had to repeatedly engage with additional staff members who wanted to show me the UV light on the stones, ask what I was looking for, talk to me about the store in general, the crystals in general, the reiki in specific, and comment on my way of selecting my stones. I don't really want to discuss my personal situation with strangers in a crowded store and the continual attempts to have long exchanges were draining to me. Is this a sales strategy? Because I definitely would have asked to see the moldavite behind glass if I hadn't already been talked out by the staff! Perhaps the store owners could employ sales training that is less aggressive and more consensual, and/or a way of communicating that a particular customer doesnt seem to want conversation. I wasn't going to leave a review but then I got an email from them - after being repeatedly assured that I wouldn't receive emails from them when I signed up for the customer rewards program. It's a little thing but the final straw for me in the pushy communication department. I'm sure this whole vibe works for lots of people but for a crystal savvy neurodivergent person it really could have gone better. read more

Was not looking for jewelry or crystals but this shop was too darling to pass up. It was remarkably spacious and very inviting. The employees there were very kind to answer all our questions about the beautiful stones. They also have some amazing carved and polished art. All your favorite stones can be found in delicate bracelet form. Seems to be very good quality. I love how they organized the stones by color at each table. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Great place for your holiday stocking stuffers to get everyon's energies realigned. They even have tarot readings! read more

On Friday, March 27th my son and I, both African Americans walked into this store. We both have been coming for years. The lady working within two minutes approached my son and said they had an oversized bag policy and had to take his bag and put behind the counter. I myself had an oversized bag, two other white ladies in the store had the same. Once I saw her do what she did to my son, s grown man, I placed what I was going to purchase back and we walked out the store. U called her and she never acknowledged the behavior and how it was a very discriminatory behavior. It was racist. She then said they only allow small Fanny pack and small purses. Said there is a sign and they are figuring a way to reintroduce the policy. I told her she needed to go back to the board table. She continually tried to defend her racist behavior never acknowledgjng her behavior was wrong and discriminatory. I have been coming there for years and will never return. I am in customer service over 40 years and her behavior was racist and blatantly so. Sad in Portland we still have this. Sad. If you are brown, black, be careful going to this store. The lady needs to be trained in humanity. This store has a lot of work to do. Love the store but will not put my foot back in this store. Very sad. Management has a lot to do with this store. I have shopped before and a very nice African American guy was very kind to us. Now a white women gave this behavior. Very sad. read more

My friends and u decided to check this place out on the weekend. Coming in, everything felt super organized. All the crystals were colored coded which was pleasing to my own eyes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The employees made sure to check in on us while we were looking around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were some pleasant scent incense options there that I wanted to purchase that I might come back to in the future. My friend got the opportunity to stand in the sound bowl which was for free. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The employee told us that people come in for the sound bowl maybe once a month to get a cleanse which is really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall I am glad to stumble upon this place. Just opened yesterday & I already can tell I'll be coming back. They're on this perfect corner that gets plenty of light to see the gorgeous glimmery nature of all the crystals. I've got to say; being and avid collector I can tell how pure and high quality their offerings are. After having met the owner Jillian, she had mentioned nothing in the shop is heat treated and the most that ever happens to them is being tumbled into a smooth form from their raw form so they keep their integrity and energetic nature. She also strongly believes in ethical sourcing which was so amazing to hear; and you can definitely tell they all pour their heart into their work and make the store such a wonderful place to be. Everyone there is so helpful & kind. They also offered to give me a little sound bath clearing as I got to stand in the bowl in the back room and it was such an experience!
